  1. I can't help but be saddened as to where this thread has ended up. From all the initial good wishes towards Ricky, we've descended into the usual bickering. Don't we ever learn?
  2. The moral of the story. Move south to fulfill one's true potential...
  3. And Winston...lol. so we'll have Kozzi.
  4. And sometimes this North Island attitude that they should have the best of everything because they are entitled to it......it really starts to irritate.
  5. I agree. To those who want to criticize, let them submit their audition tapes and wait for the results .
  6. It's not hard to see why certain northern stables love the coast circuit. Congrats to the Clothworthy and Myers teams for taking out most of the races at Omoto.
  7. I haven't yet had that pleasure. My favourite is the ad repeatedly telling me that my phone is slow...and then I have a devil of a job to get rid of it .
  8. What a disappointing thread. Is it any wonder that racing has big issues, yet we descend to this sort of stuff ?.
  9. There seems to be a link between holding successful meetings at places like Kurow and Reefton...and the urge by the hierarchy to close them down . I know I'm not the brightest, but it all seems weird .
  10. Does anyone know what is the deadline for a decision on the Kumara track?
  11. A winner at omakau midweek, they pick up the first at Roxburgh. Things seem to be humming pretty well.
  12. As a former business owner in Central, I enjoyed the influx of visitors over the the Christmas/New year period. Clearly the race meetings at this time were very well attended. I could never understand why there wasn't some sort of circuit around Easter, as visitor numbers soar again. Any thoughts??
  13. Apricots ....but I don't intend sharing them!!!!
  14. And second place in the trot at Auckland is nothing to be ashamed of. I am certainly not writing them off after one disappointing day.
  15. The fields at Winton and then Omakau are much more interesting.
  16. The angry man speaketh. Thanks
  17. And so we come to the "mystery" course in proposed South Island race course closures . Namely the one they seem determined to keep open at all costs. And yet logically it should be one of the first to close. Not a great track, only two starting points, and never huge fields. So why are they so determined to keep Waikouaiti open ahead of courses such as Washdyke?
  18. I tried the Basil Fawlty approach. Yelling at it and telling it I was going to give it a darn good thrashing if it didn't go away.
  19. And well done to Freda for her horse's great run today.
  20. It's great to see the good guys getting success . Richly deserved.
  21. Looking at the fields for Winton and Omakau, it will be fascinating to see how many wins the family, both as trainers and drivers, can achieve over the southern circuit. They are a real asset in the south.
  22. Imagine being out of reach of the missus for the whole day.☺️
  23. Yes, I have tried to forget about the lack of public grandstands at both Riccarton and Addington. At least Oamaru has one, although there is the challenge of finding a seat that is partially clean, and doesn't have rusty nails poking into your backside.
  24. I enjoy the racing from Oamaru in both codes. But the state of the grandstands!!! Embarassing.
