  1. They will soon move on to Cameron Norrie, to be fair Andy Murray is doing well just playing to the level he is. On another note I bet Nadals arsehole is enjoying his break from the game, gee he picks the shit out if it, every fuckin serve, hes a fuckin nut but a good one just the same.
  2. I've said before Toni Street fronted tvnz coverage of the Olympics, and I thought the coverage was very good, it focused on NZ, sorry Aoteoroa competitors and they even didn't stick the adds on lots of times either, but personally fronting a main event like yesty race with that format I would say to management , find someone else, I'd rather sit at home and watch like the rest of us. Marc Claydon working for senz would probably prefer to front the radio show just like the old trackside was, that's what we would all prefer I bet, it seemed they had a good decent number of listeners for the afternoon, I listened now and then too but to serve the punters, the people who invest their money with the TAB, the people who are in close association with senz, it needs to be better, it's not that difficult, something like the old trackside with a bit of what they have now, pretty simple. Even though we have tv yesty race at 5 probably had a large audience listening , driving, milking cows, working in shops , hairdressers, maybe even undresses lol which emphasises radios place in our society, in some ways senz is treating true race followers poorly, commentaries is what we want to go with talk, yesty which in many ways is the twenty fifth Saturday of racing for the season, Boxing Day is the 26thTeRapa had a $50000 quad die, Wingatui, 25) yet listening you wouldn't have known yet the TAB is giving away lots of 50 buck bonus bet prizes. Putting races on apps is fine to a degree but there also needs a balance of what's free to access tv1 at the Olympics, was a perfect example and racing on radio is no different, there is no clarity of what's on what's not, Sundays they broadcast the odd harness race then miss half the others, either they are doing them or they ain't, to serve the real race followers it would be nice to know what's on. As I said on another thread I'm done and dusted on this subject, ( maybe ) but my initial post about the tv coverage was based on what was said and seen last year which seemed to be a rerun again yesty. i will add I'm not bagging Toni Street at all just the presentation.
  3. And that's what fucks me off, people sometimes in the media producing mediocrity, the radio setup isn't brilliant but I think the TAB are responsible for that, they need to push for improvements, but at least there is a starting point. Getting back to tv 1 ,someone pointed out same thing last year, if you do it do it properly. Gee even if they just had a hour long of the trackside coverage would suffice instead of adds and bullshit.
  4. Anybody care to watch tv 1 coverage on 501, that's a hour delay, be nice to know ones thoughts.
  5. I hope they treat the public to a better coverage than the tripe they dished up viewers last year. Senz on the radio ,hopefully they dont have someone describing the race, and we hear more from the commentator not the guy in the studio. Some of the people who are organising the media I think would struggle to organize a good shit. Good media coverage attracts new people and keeps the ones they already have.
  6. Ellerslie should be hiring its ground for people to have picnics, they seem to be a popular pastime at present.
  7. You know when you think of it, if they sold the whole lot and Avondale they could set up somewhere else, maybe have two tracks at one venue, or even a third AWT and use it more regularly, just a thought.
  8. This is my last post on this subject, senz is being driven by a fair bit of TAB influence so why are they running such a average radio coverage? I think the good oil needs to be changed, they broadcast a race or two from oz but you just don't know what's on and what's not, there is no uniformity yet lots of aimless chat, tv is to entertain, radio more so to inform. The punters club they run seems to me to be a con, people willy nelly spend heaps of someone else's money , strangely the return is usually nil, coz it blows out in the last race, Sunday racing commentaries seem to be all over the place, the main races don't get broadcast yet you might get three low key harness races out of no where, then if it's a false start you don't get it at all, if the people at the TAB are happy with such a average service then maybe that sums things up nicely, I wonder what if any coverage will be on today, labour day, the TAB who are funding senz need to push for better coverage. The strange irony as one poster said how they have moved on from radio coverage, I have in some ways too, listening habits change, the problem is though that once you change habits as in shutting down the radio setup it's often hard to re engage with the races on the radio now, especially if the coverage is so average, senz is actually a good sports setup, but the racing setup is below average commentary wise, they must have turned a lot of the old trackside listeners off who were hoping for something better, such is life, maybe it will get better maybe not. Newstalk zb don't get to be number 1 station in nz with everything online, If senz or the TAB want a number 1 radio coverage then waking up is a start. Gee even running the late quaddie is a starting point, even for nz meetings only maybe on Sundays, holidays and maybe midweek for some meetings if you look at the pools they seem to attract the most interest, they are saying that turnovers are doing well, maybe , maybe not but by engaging more and more people across all media spectrums helps create more interest, and helps the radio stations viability, I'm not sure if they will last long, radio sport went belly up, the present audience is probably not much different, they do have lots of add breaks but unfortunately most of them are about senz this and senz that, the present lot I don't think can organise a good shit racing wise, others may differ. As I say I'm done with this thread, over and out.
  9. Nathan Guy, very interesting choice for racing minister, he was the guy when they were touting for a AWT track in Christchurch he thought they had one already,at Addington, he could get a job for senz radio programmer, .maybe he is already aye😁
  10. What sort of place you living in? I dont have sky these days, dont really miss it either, I will say if you like league and rugby gotta say they do a pretty good job of it but I'm just not so interested these days. As for Mr Guerin hes ok, we are all different I guess but we do see or hear a fair bit of him, maybe too much but I dont change my view on the vaccine shit, even if you are jabbed 10 times as there is no covid south of the straight then keep it out, its fuckin pathetic so many events being cancelled for no reason, seems fuckin weird to me. And Ludwig, as Tuepeka are racing at Ascot Park one wonders how many people from Tuepeka area will go, probably fuck all, I'm not even sure if crowds are allowed or not.
  11. As he is a Aucklander or works and lives there until he and all the other bug carriers from there vaccinated or not should not cross cook straight again, because of them look at Cup week. No one should come cross the straight unless they are clear. Just to add he now works for senz, there racing coverage is poop, I wont bother with that lot much more if they continue to dish up much more crap back to magic music and fuck the racing.
  12. Listened to their sunday afternoon sports show, because I often do while out working, i think i heard one race from Rotorua and a couple from Oamaru, man these guys ain't up with it it seems but they did have a heap of add breaks mostly senz adds telling us about the new kids in town, way they are going wont last long I reckon.
  13. Has Hatrick stopped racing?
  14. Ignore the typing error above, cant change it now, funny how they say you can watch , listen online etc etc as its free, not strictly true,. Internet charges at home probably more than sky, then you have sky, maybe spark sport then your mobile phone charges, gee phone company's are raking it in, just think how much you could save if you didnt have all these hookups, be able to take a large easy first four or trifecta bet on one of those maiden trots at Methven or Motukarara every meeting lol.
  15. A lot o I leave my I pad, desktop on overnight when in bed more times than not on zb, when they have the grand slam tennis tournaments they run a online radio station, it's only when one leaves home, driving working etc that's a bit different, the coverage can be patchy at times. Gee I'm a fussy basterd lol.
  16. I know but it is nice to spend some of our time not being glued to our technology, great as it is, sometimes it's nice just to turn on the radio , have a cup of tea and be informed, it works for zb, listen to some music, some sports commentary as in cricket, why not one day of good solid racing coverage? I dont have all day to watch tv, even if I did I still wouldn't.
  17. Guy hosting the show on senz yesty said over to Greg Myles for the Caulfield Cup, he retired about 3 years ago, I honestly dont understand how something so simple seems to be complicated, they broadcast a race or two from oz, even stayed up till eight, I dont know, let's just say their racing coverage can only improve, that's a starting point I guess, if it dont then few will bother I'd say, me included.
  18. Did you know or did you search? There were a lot of Waitaki horses then.
  19. Once again we seem to be going around in circles on some topics but it would be good if the Saturday afternoon racing show was a lot better, shutting off at 6, most of the top races start after 6, I dont think I would blame the presenters more the management, at that time of day I will be working, 2ky or app i still cant be fucked with listening through cell phone, yea for one race now and then ok but for 2 or 3 hour stretches nope. Didnt hear the show this morning.
  20. If you are asking me a question, I have no idea, the only Hamilton I know is a town or city somewhere up north lol.
  21. Come on people, dont go to hrnz site, 1975 Methven cup, horse by memory always had a blue shadow roll, won 7 races in all before going to US.
  22. Here a question to test the memory, and this is one that's stuck in mine a long time, I had just started taking a interest in the races. 1975 Methven Cup was one by the rank outsider, paid 48 bucks for the win, which in those days would have kept you going for a long time, this horse seemed to like Methven , finished third the year after, now without rushing to jgoogle ot hrnz site, who knows the winner.
  23. No idea on that one. Just a side note to the cup race Sapling missed a race at Forbury in 78 due to Flooding in Southland, there were quite a few scratchings for that race meeting, raced october 14 1978.
  24. Actually did some research ,Ron Hamilton gave up the horses nearly ten years ago, but he had been around them over 50 years so one can understand but three sons none driving training or whatever, seems the younger versions just dont carry on, that's life.
  25. I actually picked that photo as well, I think I'm correct that Trevira didn't start in the 78 Cup, that's just going on memory. Those guys that had Trevira has a couple of other good ones, Trilobal and Tricotine then they seemed to fade out, that's all from memory too.
