  1. So once again what's the limit on place bets, top 4, head to head in rugby, tennis basketball etc etc,can anyone tell me? In 2015 a punter bet 130000 on the ABS to not win the world cup, to pocket 71000 profit. Strangely on the final TAB took a bet of 220000 or something similar in ABS to win, would have been the same punter covering his losses, the ABS won and he got his dosh back but could have lost heavily if Aussie had won. So how much can a punter bet on Djokovic winning the tennis, how much could one bet live when hes a dollar three and a certainty?. A dollar three may not seem much but if you had a hundred grand on it 3 grand in no time, would they accept the bet? I've never heard of these big bets, maybe the TAB only accept those that will most likely lose but not those that will most likely win. Maybe I'm sounding a bit confused but big massive bets seem to be few and far between.
  2. So this is So ok, this new limit is for fixed odds win, so effectively there must be limits on top 3, finishing in first four, you never hear of any massive bets on rugby as such like the Crusaders at $1.13 leading with 6 minutes to go,maybe they do happen, seems to me if they didnt have limits somewhere then it would be easy to scalp the TAB completely of funds.
  3. Some of this is over my head, but how does one get on with place bets, maybe finishing in the first four, there must be lots of limits on sports as in head to heads, over and unders in Football,(goals)and points in Basketball etc etc Seems to me that no matter what happens the house will probably still win more often than not.
  4. yea but you win some you lose some,Sundees Son would have cost some a lot,i bet few would have bet against it.
  5. I've never understood the restrictions, so it's not the amount you can bet but the amount you can win ? That obviously would be on fixed win and place? There must be restrictions on some with sports betting as well ? I am restricted but I restrict myself on the amount I can lose.
  6. Wonder how round 2 will go tonight.
  7. Hey, Doomed me again, hypothetically if harness wanted to scrub Washdyke and Orari based on the fact that they keep Oamaru, one venue between Timaru and Oamaru what would the gallopers do, logic to me would suggest scrub Oamaru and retain Washdyke ,do the codes work in unison,? Maybe if Orari was to go ,any reason why not race Washdyke on the grass, if Oamaru closed for gallops move meetings to Washdyke. I guess if Washdyke and Rangiora closed for harness then the meetings would probably move to Addington, more and more of the same old same old, oh well the powers that be know best. The problem with Timaru harness is the meetings are very low key the gallops the same but shouldn't be, take away harness from Timaru now and the venue is hardly used yet strangely the same is happening now at Gore, since the trots left it's gone from about 10 days to just 7 strange as they dont even run trials or workouts at Gore yet then strangely they race 2 days of. trots on the grass despite that arsehole crossing. I guess the debate will go on and on, I only started posting here about the time they made all the cuts proposals 2 years ago, we all have our thoughts, I wonder what the landscape will be like in 2 more years time, whatever way one looks at things harness is only a shadow of what it once was.
  8. Hey doomed I thought you might have been taking the piss but I'm just reading the article you are talking about, on another note I reac Blair Edie the southern trainer has stopped racing for now, no track work rider, so difficult times indeed.
  9. I read two years ago they were scrubbing Timaru and Geraldine, yet last year Geraldine after surviving got another day, Timaru have 5, not great ones but still 5, lots of mixed messages.

Interesting, all heavy tracks around the country yet Wingatui has a good 4, I reckon that's a misprint.
  11. Might have been born on February 29.
  12. Maybe there is a loyalty to places like Timaru just to keep them going, and on a different tangent Alexy is back, cant have liked being left at home as he was hardly ever there, bit of a shame he missed THE RACE, would have been a good leadup to the winter circuit😃. In all seriousness though you do wonder if there is too much racing, there definatly is too much average stuff yet the powers that be claim things are going well, are they though?
  13. Maybe all the horsey people will be at home enthralled by the Auckland cup night. Just think a diet of Friday and Sundays all winter, thrilling. i imagine there is a Sunday meet as well somewhere so is there overkill? As for the trot night concept, bar all the technology issues is the racing actually good enough to justify its own channel?

Interesting that on feature days like Wingatui the $40000 races are now 35 and the $35000 0nes are 30, seems the stakes levels have reached their level. As for sports betting funding be interesting to know how much goes back to sport and how much elsewhere as in stakes etc etc. Good noms for Wingatui too by the way.

Very interesting numbers for Avondale, big numbers on a heavy 10 only a week after Cambridge had fuck all, why that love racing site dont follow the harness site for reading fields and results is beyond me, just a add on that comment.
  16. Ok people I did some research, for those interested....................8 starts 1 win, strange as it on the poly track at Sunshine Coast.. 6 horses , race net info seems very precise. ,
  17. Has he gone to oz by now and if so has he had any runners, be interested to see how he fares, if his team like wet tracks might have gone to the right place it seems. Actually gunna do some research so maybe this thread might be pointless.
  18. Maybe they should rename the horse. The horse that once was called smiles like Jacinda, lol.
  19. One would have to say that day 1 didnt go well. I only saw parts of it, cant sit in front of tv when things to do, some of us have work to do. Everything to do with horse racing and what is the most vital element is betting, without betting rest assured Self Assured and Sundees Son can run round a track as fast as they like but if no one bet on them,(horse racing) then they would be only as useful as some kids pony never forget that, no betting no horse racing. However as trackside is all about jamming as many races in to squeeze every cent they can has been to the detriment of the general viewing quality for many. So the idea of a trot channel is fine by theory but will it work , firstly is still has to cater for the punter, friday night 83 seemed to be 90 seconds behind trackside yet they were showing the win place odds obviously after the tote had closed, and of course the video quality. Would the presenters want to spend every friday night hosting,? Would it attract many on nights that have those ho hum nights and there are plenty of those. It seems to me that when 2 meetings are on then the continuity is probably better,it is on trackside so same here too, someone is obviously funding it, I did hear Mr Teaz stating they were doing things on a shoestring budget. Maybe it might be a alternative on the bigger days/nights only, it still illustrates though that the wall to wall coverage that trackside is doesn't appeal to all, same for the gallops too. It was stated elsewhere why two channels for nz racing on sunday, one will suffice, it seems the programmers need to listen the the customers. Senz for radio have had their let's just say their different style of racing coverage that dont cater for the punters for nearly a year now, seems they are too thick to work it out but that's another subject for another time, maybe they are the problem or maybe it's the nongs at the TAB.
  20. When I see QC next to someone's name I always think queer cunt😁
  21. I dont have sky as such but I pay them 18 bucks a month to get all the channels through the sky box can always go back on sports channels easy as but I'm not bothered at present.
  22. It was discussed elsewhere about the strange programming on sunday why sunday racing from nz is not on one trackside channel and 40 minute intervals at Ascot Park (gallops) , all people want is less dross, seems a good idea if there are 2 meetings, might drag a bit with 1, maybe as channel 83 is freeview maybe a opportunity to expand more specialized coverage away from the wall to wall trackside which is pushing for every cent they can drain out of people which after all is what the TAB are in business for.
  23. The idea is simply to cut out all the crap that trackside sometimes has, but in reality if they cut out the crap on trackside 1 , then no need to have a xtra channel but the pop up channel concept though on big race days is a good concept. i guess another way of looking at things is is the harness racing good enough to justify its own channel.
  24. Interesting idea, Friday night trot channel , worth a go, will it catch on, who knows. info on harness site.

I don't really believe the southern area is too badly treated regarding dates, basically from the big pissup meeting at Ascot Park before Xmas, until Easter at Riverton there are a good number of Feature meetings on Saturdays to boot before and after that the numbers tend to be a bit thin, just the way it is, hard to know if they could justify any more days. Once again the old Timaru situation crops up regarding their starus, Riverton , Gore Ascot Park, Wingatui 5 or 6 times Cromwell and Oamaru all have feature days so why not Washdyke, there is something for the decision makers to work on, just my thoughts.
