I find trot night more interesting than trackside, which is why I just leave channel 83 on, missed the last but would be a shame if it was the last. Its uniqueness is that it's one night a week, so it's no great problem to make time to have a look, unlike trackside that's day after day,not for me it ain't.

Just to add one dont seem to see horses losing so much ground catching up and winning or doing a Final Decision these days, probably going so fast up front just got no chance.

Micron was a good horse but risky from a standing start, I think he may have been only C9, had to be open class to run but could be wrong there. One wonders if Final Decision had not have lost so much ground that he may have won by a couple of hundred yards lol Got question 1 2 and 3, First Lee jogged my memory, number 5 was beyond me. Those trotting annuals were my annual xmas present,,still got them, probably a market for them, as one gets older often wonder what to do with them.

Maybe they could shift Oamaru gallops to Washdyke, then at least they could run that Sunday feature meeting in July, then logic would then suggest that if either Oamaru or Timaru were to close then shift Oamaru trots to Timaru too, then there is no future for Oamaru at all, not what I would do but if one has to go then logic should be applied.

Hey I know it's winter and one expects winter tracks, but Oamaru running 12000 dollar races just two days before 30000 dollar races at Riccarton , seems a bit weird to me, little wonder the fields at Oamaru are light but as I've often said, what do I know.

Maybe they may meet in the middle, close Timaru and Oamaru and reopen Waimate, simple

Every track in NZ is heavy yet Oamaru has a good 4, maybe that feature meeting at Riccarton should be moved to Oamaru, it's not like that always but generally North Otago is one of the driest places in NZ but it shows though that the tracks need a good spell, Oamaru havnt raced for 11 months, yet Riccarton gets the shit beaten out of it regularly and yet they want less tracks doing more racing, it might work in oz with a warmer climate, not in old NZ though. The issues of closing either Oamaru or Timaru is interesting in itself, Oamaru is probably better for harness, Timaru for gallops, so will there be compromise?

I also think that Oamaru gallops racing tomorrow, 2 days before another grass track meeting at Riccarton is also an insult, more to the Oamaru club, my thoughts, Addington Sunday meetings, do they need them every Sunday or two meetings a week at present?

Good noms but despite that and a good track 7 races and small numbers mostly, this is a poorly scheduled meeting, date wise, Riccarton on Saturday yet last Sunday as a example nothing, this date may have been better for the AWT and give Oamaru a better deal

A very interesting article in the ODT recently questioning the wisdom of the South Island with a small population needing two covered stadiums. Havnt see Scott Robertson offering any money on behalf of the rugby boys to help with the new stadium, and neither will ya. Just shift the games to Dunedin, or Nelson, or maybe even Eden Park, or just play in Christchurch and stop all being like a bunch of pansies.
