  1. No gallops in the Southern area again till Waikouiti at Wingatui in a fortnight, one thing I note though, today's Greymouth meetings will probably fall next year on a tuesday, how will the West Coast circuit stack up dates wise.
  2. But times have changed, sadly. No Canterbury horses at all at Riverton, long way to go for one day but with Timaru and Kurow, enough to keep them going, as I explained before no southerners bar a couple at Kurow, few went to Waikouiti so this date change is a good one, whether new years days is exactly the right day well that's open for debate.
  3. Maybe Trentham could race on their anniversary day, maybe even a duel code meeting, who knows. Omakau and Waikouiti were struggling for numbers, all very fine putting races on but it's still got to be a good product, some of those gallop meeting were having 4 or 5 horse fields and 6 races, that's not really what one would want.
  4. While the people making the decisions get a fair bit of flak the decision to move Waikouiti and Omakau was the best to move a meeting to Southland instead Kurow have 2 Southland horses in the fields plus an emergency yet Riverton will probably have good numbers, southern trainers never really went to the two shifted meetings but the Waikouiti meeting two weeks after new year is a feature meeting now, Washdyke and Kurow are basically Canterbury meeting with a sprinkling of horses from Wingatui. Here's a thought that might be worth a look for the northern area, Rotorua, Tauranga and Hawkes Bay have 3 very average meetings, Taupo only have 7 races on thursday so here is a thought. Can those 3 meetings, shift Taupo to today , a holiday then run a 2 maybe 3 day circuit in Gisborne, maybe Wairoa, a big holiday area at new year, must be some merit in taking racing to the people, just a thought.
  5. One question I was thinking, why don't they use all weather track, at all. As for the grass track, apart from the crossing the track looked good., and there was a lot of people leaning on the outside fence watching, don't see that often these days.
  6. Jack starts again today, Randwick race 7
  7. I actually started a new thread on the trot section but should have just posted here, senz boxing day radio coverage appears to be Zilch, on probably the biggest day of the year, brilliant but this lot when it comes to racing, nothing surprises me.
  8. It appears to be Zilch, on the biggest day of the year no radio coverage, it appears that test cricket will be broadcast, I dont dislike cricket but maybe this is a poor programming decision. Only yesty on ZB the position radio has for many could never be over emphasized but senz and racing coverage, let's just say it has room for improvement, a fair bit of room actually, we've been over it enough times, we remain optimistic with this lot.
  9. TAB, probably lost nothing, they do jackpot and get carried over to the next race some pools if not fully struck
  10. Probably not normal, sometimes they might like playing a good samaritan though, sometimes they just use some discretion, good for the customers.
  11. I find the present commentators rather robotic
  12. Commentator would have been Bill Cherry?
  13. In the last hour I've had senz on the radio in the background, just a barrage of repetitive adds, time to move on
  14. Westport only have 11 noms for the main race, you wonder if there is too much racing, quantity ruling over quality, yet in the north they just happy for anything to turn up.
  15. The time honored Ashburton Cup has a whole 6 nominations.
  16. Never been there but I remember on the turf digest the diagram of the track, it had a very short home straight for some strange reason, someone will know.
  17. We've passed comments about senz before but in many ways what they do is very well done, as I write this comment the radio has soccer, the cricket is on the app, you have to have the app to listen, on the website,(computer) you only get the radio, but the racing is as I say airy fairy, finishing the days racing programme before 5 to do the cricket seemed odd, no reason why they simply couldn't have shifted the race programme over to the app for a while, there are things they can do to make it better, one gripe though is knocking off at 5 or 6 and then doing reruns of another show from earlier, the racing show is okaish but cutting the commentary straight after the finish and things like that those sort of things piss me off,not completing the days racing like the quaddie final race etc etc , it seems the people making the programme decisions ain't really up with how race followers like things done.
  18. What do the horses do when finished racing?
  19. Like it or not the website does have a lot of live sport, some of it is high level sport too, soccer from Germany, Italy, USA,Spain etc etc, then it has Tennis and lots of Basketball so there is plenty there for free, sometimes the picture quality can be very average. Sky have probably worked out that they dont need to have all the sport as in a monopoly, probably more profit in just having certain key competitions, sure they may lose some subscribers but by having the Rugby and the League, some cricket and everything else thrown in in real terms they may have less but actually achieve more in financial terms. Same 4 spark but the real losers are the consumer paying 2 subs.
  20. I hope with the internet faster you might get the results before the race is run, gee I might even have to borrow some cash to load my account if that was to happen
  21. That's where I've got wise mr huey, I find the less times I load my account the less I lose Sometimes I leave just 1 cent In my account so I still watch racing or sport through the site,
  22. You can shove ya vaccine passport up ya arse😎

    Noodlum

Talking about depth, when is the next cup class race being run, I think they tried to run one tonight but not enough starters, maybe Easter the next race? No wonder they are all going to oz. Always once was a post cup meeting circuit, seems that it's short circuited.
  24. Anyone know how much the punters club got to last week? Gee what a job working on radio seems to be ,Hosking on zb and Smith on senz knocked off last week for xmas, the 10th of December, wonder how the country will run without him, Hosking that is. On another note be interesting to see what coverage senz have for racing over the xmas period, maybe they might all go on holiday as well and have nothing. The simulcast they relay through the website ain't too bad if it's only on one channel, soon as they jam two into one it's a poor listening experience. Frankly I'm at the point where I've stopped giving a fuck.
  25. Not too many post these days about the website/app, it might sound silly but from a viewing perspective I reckon a bit more colour would make it a bit more visually better but fundamentaly I dont think it's too bad.
