  1. Maybe they are just a bunch of wankers to work for, I still find it strange no one commentating the dogs has said anything about greyhounds ending, I bet they have been muzzled, probably same for presenters who no longer give the place odds before a race.
  2. Betfair have the best cash out option but they don't do multis.
  3. Well I guess this is the litmus test for racing at Wingatui regarding crowd numbers, good racing, hopefully good weather, how many actually go, that remains to be seen.
  4. Manawatu probably will take a hit as well when greyhounds finish, having Sundays races as twilight ending after 8 is a new thing but usually I'm done with racing by the last race on Sundays by 5 o clock, I suspect most of us are as well, all very well Entain trying to implement ideas from Ozzie but not sure if they work here, strange how many can see some of their ideas regarding the calendar are weird but they can't, why Otaki raced same day as Blenhiem, mind boggling but it seems to me the only way CDracing is sustainable is simply running mostly mini meetings, Hawera were a exception, their fields numbers wise were good, now they want to run Taupo just four days before Hawera, that also seems odd.
  5. May have meant 10000 on course turnover,
  6. Small fields at Palmy North, 6 or 7 races may be the best they can hope for, nice earners for some, grab it while it's there.
  7. Would be hypocritical if we banned dog racing but still had aussie dog racing but don't worry about Entain about making up the deficit, with geo blocking they will be creaming it with all the money floating back, or are they just gambling on that ?
  8. That guy from Sweden is called the iceman which coming from home at present is probably not far wrong but imagine getting out the plane in Oz, what a contrast.
  9. Smaller fields in Palmy and probably no harder to get there but therein lies another issue with the handicapping, getting same penalty as if winning 15 horse race at the Mot but that's another issue for another day.
  10. Your probably right about Timaru, but interestingly up till recently Orari was on the chopping block, and if they did close Timaru would seem the place to go. While the North want more grass racing, Taupo is just four days before Hawera, not sure if that's smart and where would that leave Otaki who strangely were racing same day as Blenhiem which seemed weird, personally as I've stated elsewhere Otaki should have been in the week after Blenhiem and the week before Hawera, just my thoughts, but obviously others think differently.
  11. Might be smarter trying his luck at Manawatu.
  12. Truth be known Purdon may not even have owned Rolleston, may have just been a tenant, irrespective if the complex is so flash would be sad to see it dismembered if that's the case. Someone will know I guess. What has happened to Nat Rasmusson ?
  13. Seems the reason for no Friday is because of telly but reality is Friday nights these days in winter are NRL, Super Rugby nights so where's the problem, and it's not like it would be a ongoing thing, returning Nelson and possibly Blenhiem would be a change of scenery, the weekly winter diet of Addingtons Friday Sunday can become a bit stale, as always the number of horses in Canterbury make these meetings viable, unlike many meetings across the straight that probably ain't.
  14. Interestingly I note HRNZ are looking at the possibility of Nelson getting 2 days back, strangely though a Tuesday, Thursday in May, if you don't have 1 weekend day then why bother and if not tied in with Blenhiem would they get the numbers anyway.numbers were not flash in January, was that because of location, the mile raceday or the Ashburton meet 2 days after, Blenhiems numbers were good so is going to Richmond just not so appealing anymore?
  15. I find the idea that by geo blocking all this so called money that's punted on overseas sites will come flooding back to NZTAB as being rather naive, many will be serious punters but if you limit them they will more than likely stop betting, no one likes a monopoly and sure 100 million to Racing and Harness in NZ looks appealing but its also a big gamble by Entain as well, they have thrown plenty of money NZs way but are they getting anything back?
  16. Looks like that will supplement their pensions nicely😁
  17. Did lots 355 and 356 sell?
  18. Those 100 to one odds are bullshit.
  19. When is Hastings likely to be back racing, if ever, recent times have shown the worth.of Woodville and Waverley as back up.
  20. Only a few years ago Auckland ran the Interdominion and it was a great series but therein lies one of the key issues I highlighted with regards to the handicapping and the obsession of pumping money into young races when the 4yo and over should be the main course, the horses that everyone can relate too, there is just nothing around for them at present, you have the odd ones over in Oz, and that's always happened anyway then you get the next lot who run off handicaps but there is simply no depth at the top level, that's one thing HRNZ need to address moving forward. 4 and 5 horse fields ain't the answer but as I've said before, nice for the owners, grab it while it's on offer.
  21. Gamma sometimes you have to realise that it is in our DNA for those outside Auckland to kick back just to balance the ledger, think of it like rivalry you have with state of origin or NSW v Victoria, life would be even more boring without it.
  22. Trouble with TAB4EVER is he can't see beyond the Bombay hills, unfortunately like most living in Auckland they are actually looking from the wrong side lol I'm no fan of Auckland, it is actually in many ways disconnected to what's happening in the rest of the country, with the population diversity creating into that place it's becoming further and further from the NZ that used to be, most of the population there don't give two hoots about Horse racing, Rugby and the likes, while rural NZ still maintain those traditions.. Auckland always strikes me as trying to keep up with other cities like Melbourne or Sydney but they can't even get their shit sorted out lol, it sees itself as the powerbase of NZ but in reality rural NZ is the backbone of NZ, John Key did say where Fonterra goes NZ goes, so true. Ellerslie have this great big raceday but how many people actually attended? Stuff all for the size of the place. Alexandra Park must be one he'll of a lonely place most nights, and despite the fact no one gives a shit no more Harness Racing NZ are obsessed with pouring good funds just to keep them going which are disproportionate to what they are earning, Auckland has a sense of entitlement that the country owes them, the rest of the country would be fine without them.
  23. NZs problem is a failure on 2 counts , a handicapping system that's faulty, and a obsession with pumping all the money into the young races, if both issues were corrected, problem.solved.
  24. Anzac day 1981 was a Saturday, following on from Easter, Forbury Park ran a all bells and whistles meeting, they even got innovative and started around 4 , finished about 9, also on same day All Whites started their world cup campaign which took them to Spain, by playing Australia,if you backtrack dates Wednesday 22 and Monday 20, Easter Monday Riccarton raced as was the case then, Riverton raced Easter Monday as well, I think even for a time Riverton may have raced Saturday Tuesday, those results above have Riverton where it should be Riccarton. Anyway there is a bit of useless trivia for the day😀
  25. Out of interest do the Dennis tribe have any in at the sales this week ?
