    Waimate

Been doing some research on Waimate, just under 3 grand in the town, under 8 in the district, never hear much about the place,Norm Kirk is buried there, probably a lot of other people as well lol,in some ways the races were one if the most notable events to happen there, now it's gone, sad in many ways,I've been there a few times,I'm sure lots on here probably havnt, just a run of the mill country town basically.

  8. He might turn up just in time to go home, never mind northeners spend most of their life in traffic anyway🙄
  9. Just watching race 1 from palmy, not sure if the few people standing are humans or statues.
  10. Not sure if he knows if hes arther or Martha,as for racing who knows.
  11. Getting back to the topic there ain't too many maideners from the north gone south so gee where are they all hiding?

Sounds ok to live in those places as long as you wear a gas mask.
  13. I just come up with a brainwave.maybe they prefer going all the way to palmy north just to avoid the Auckland traffic lol
  14. Only 9 acceptors for a non winners race,no Cambridge this week either, they are getting better numbers at Manawatu, good stakes too 12000,seems it dont matter anyhow.

They need to get stuck into the harness officialdom seeking reinstatement, why the obsession with ridding the industry of these small community setups, they probably don't cost the industry anything.

    Waimate

Waimate have been given a poor deal here,a good date but probably by being at Oamaru will now be just another ho hum affair, will the people who flocked to Waimate flock to Oamaru?
  17. You often wonder if some of these low key meetings need to be run at all, however I guess if they are low key then they have low stakes and low turnover and basically no public turning up,tuesdays ,wednesdays and thursdays do seem to lag in turnover, night meetings now are a thing of the past.there does need to be some exception though for certain areas though as in the CD area.
  18. You have to pay to read news on herald but someone must have read it, probably eventually it will be free to read I guess,I have my thoughts about Robertson but he does seem to have more drive than old Winston,,but also a lot of the younger version often don't give a shit about the past, only looking forward, some of the things from the past are worth preserving.
  19. I think the most important thing is to not have a overkill of full meetings, the numbers of horses is not high, getting a good spread of race days is the key here, but I think from a harness racing perspective wouldn't it be good if they had at least one day,as in dual code or in some cases full meetings at New Plymouth,Wanganui,Trentham, and Hastings, after all it's not like the galloping codes is flush for numbers either, they had a duel code meeting at Wingatui yesty,Otago anniversary day, judging by field sizes neither would have done much on their own so it actually compliments each other. You often think that racing on the big gallop track is a bit of a second best case scenario but in reality judging by turnovers on grass track courses are actually more popular from a betting perspective than the all weather many times,in some cases things are turning full circle,Waterlea and Gore are on grass, they seem to do ok.
  20. It was in the herald but I don't subscribe, anyone read it ,and if so was it informative?
  21. Every fucker has issues with watching, sometimes the I pad I try to watch is fine sometimes shit.you gamble on a race.you gamble if you gunna see it or not.its not always their problem,so many variables but they probably tell you it's fine just to cover their arses.
  22. We we do tend to go around in circles here. As I've stated before those mini meetings at Manawatu show the horse population is still there for harness in the North Island, but the administrators need a good kick in the hole to get something done, those short circuits popular in the South, no reason why not in the north,Taranaki at Easter is a bit of a loss but no reason why no mini meetings at lots of those gallop meetings,it's not like they are bulging with numbers,if it works at new year, why not more? It don't really matter so much about the public turning up,lots of meetings attract stuff all people,it's more about the owners and trainers. Incidentally, the Taranaki,Hawera and Wellington cups have all been or are going to be held this season,it is true that the covid stuffed up a lot of scheduling last year. Does anybody have any idea what the calandar for next season is shaping up as?
  23. How many profiles has this guy got or had?
  24. Not sure if google chrome cast would be compatible.
  25. As I stated on the other site, rugby and cricket are on on other stations so they have the rights,an ideal scenario is a mix of radio sport and trackside maybe Saturday and major holidays racing from nz and the main centres from oz,you can't have overkill of racing on a sports station, talkback on sport will get people interested,,and surely a Des Coppins type show would be a good idea. Trackside simulcast is on their website and rova app, maybe they should just have the 2 channels simulcast, it ain't ideal but maybe then you can get full coverage, then you get some radio coverage as well, i rarely listen to rova but if there is a specific race one is interested in I will try to tune in. Strange as it is I did miss the radio when it went but I have got use to being without, same as sky really.after time you realise you can survive without. While I don't really give a shit about the yachting, the fact it was on zb while I'm working captured my attention, would I I go out of my way to watch it,probably not, same with the races,I don't plan my life around telly.
