Very few trainers condition dogs like K Walsh can in NZ. Her dogs are always presented in fabulous condition in both looks and fitness. Something most trainers dont seem to do here

Warning Brendan of changes nothing. All it means is that he will not be allowed on a race course. Its makes it look like they are doing something without actually doing it. Lisa Cole should also be prosecuted as the dogs being baited were on her registered property and were her dogs. Her being the trainer makes her ultimately responsible for the dogs under the rules of racing.

Yes, although you would suspect that her being the trainer, she holds ultimate responsibility over the care-giving of the dogs

Its true, Cole fraudulently changed the breeder of Big-time Paddy to his own name. This later went to a small claims court and Brent Johnston won. He successfully had his name put back onto the dog as breeder. Brent Johnston was prisoned for pedophilia aswell. More than once aswell. Believe the last incident was with a 16 year old.

You haven't raced many dogs than. Either that or you have not treated the injury very well. I've seen quite a few over the years come back and be very successful in bigger races. I've always believed a dog can be healed from any injury if it's treated and maintained correctly

GRNZ are an appalling organisation if they refuse to act on these charges. As I've said previously, I could see Winston doing over here what happened in Australia GRV and GRNSW when that all happened. They should be the leaders of the industry, not directing it down this dark and dangerous road

They have plenty of power. Cole is just protected by the cheats in office. Hopefully they are prosecuted by the government like what happened in Australia for their negligence

Most people in NZ do not even rehome there dogs. Look at the people with dogs on the list and than look at the total number of public trainers alone. It doesn't add up Now I do have my own personal opinion on the matter which I believe is irrelevant in these circumstances, but if anyone thinks this is the solution to rehoming more dogs, than you are crazy when only a small percentage of dogs on the gap list are Australian anyway. Plus what is 2k for those who are spending 15-20k on a dog? It's ridiculous. On top of that, I presume the $500 gap fee will also be removed meaning less funding for gap. If the current regime were serious on the rehoming of dogs, they should look at limiting the amount of dogs bred per licensed person and per property to ensure the industry is sustainable into the future. We already have a gap tarif on imports and they have been limited in numbers. The few dogs that this will stop entering the country will be replaced by homebreds. You may cheer now, but the same people will complain when people like Cole and McInerney become even more dominate.

Icepacking the muscle is the best solution. Every 8hrs first 2 or 3 days (depending on how bad it is), than 3x a day after until swelling and bruising has gone. Should take 2-3wks. You will want to keep the dogs muscle moving aswell. Stretches early on, than start to walk them for long distances after a week.
