Yeah the meadowlands had a Casino which is probably what helped keep the track going. It was a weird Casino as they Really only had the electronic machines playing the games for some reason, probably less Wages to pay. They have away crap prizes to everyone that signed in and played lol. Greg,, by the wAy, I do recognize that people do have alternative opinions to myself, even if they arent correct!

Greg, you are right, went to the Meadowlands several years ago, and most of the small crowd wasnt even watching the racing! Was very boring racing though, all miles, and we all know that is crap racing!!

Greg, yes the previous management dickheads did agree to kt after thats what they wanted. The DIA didnt want it that low and the TAB decided to implement it as a way to control all their punters. The TAB doesnt give all the punters that collect or,lffload a $1000 do they????? No they dont and the DIA will only want to know biggest punters. They are absolute clowns to still have this $1k policy as it is costing them big time. The Casino would be easier to launder money and They wont be inplimenting the $1k policy

Longowner, The TAB is talking BS when they say they wanted a higher limit for the AML act! It is so that they have control Over all punters! The fact that they want to identify punters who collect over $1000 rather than offload $1000 clearly shows that! I have it on very good authority that turnover from big bets dropped off significantly after they brought in the $1k limit, which in this day and age is just pathetic. I personally know of many punters who used to go to Addington oncourse every meeting do not bother anymore, for a variety of reasons.

You have have got many there Happy at longer odds, which is good to see. SweenyTodd went well last start which was a bit of a form reversal, but it had been going quick sectionals. It has got the trainer in the cart tomorrow again, but if it can get to the front, will be tough Hells Shadow has been pretty disappointing recently, but pretty weak field so possible.

Lochinvar Art runs third. Clearly the horse has got plenty of ability, but you are always going to be a big losing punter by gambling like this! There are many dumb punters out there, that is why the NZ TAB should be taking all bets! They put up the odds, they should be taking the bets, or get out of being Bookies!!!!! At the moment they are not Bookies, just risk averse small time money takers!

Just watching a wee bit of harness on Trackside. Was interesting to hear that the Bookies in Victoria had taken 2 bets that I would call large, when you compare them to the so called large bets that the NZ TAB claim is worth mentioning. 2 bets have been accepted being $10k @ $1.09 and $20k @ 1.08 on different horses, in different races! They are probably both reasonable certs, but wouldnt be risking that amount To win buggerall! NZ TAB this is how to get your turnover up, by accepting bets that you offer odds on,

The Cup has lost a lot of its appeal for most punters nowadays as they are over the domination of the one stable. Yes there will be a huge crowd cup day for the social element, and the club will do a amazingly well Out of the sale of the grossly overpriced packages, but people pay it so that is all good. Reality is that you dont see this crowd for another year and harness needs to retain a portion of these newcomers but they dont! The crowds that go to Addington nowadays is pathetically small, and they are going to remove the ticket sellers, so they will dwindle further after that! What I can guarantee is that harness will continue to suffer if the factors in play are not overturned, and decisions being made are not given more thought, Personally just can not be bothered going on course at the moment as there is absolutely no reason to. The atmosphere is just not there anymore as people choose to vote with their feet!

The $1000 limit was brought in by the NZ TAB, despite them wanking on about it being the Department of Internal Affairs! It was the TAB that have used the AML so they can have control of anyone that is winning, so they can shut them down! No one in their right mind could possibly believe that money launderers are going to gamble a $1000 on a racehorse when there are far easier and safer ways of doing ! FFS $1000 in todays money is nothing and yet the TAB want to know who has spent a couple of dollars and got a $1000 trIfecta. The amount for money laundering used to be $10k but it was lowered to next to nothing. If someone is suspected of laundering money then report them and have it investigated, but to have such a pathetically low limit is just blatant BS! Punters need to be examined if they wager or collect $1000, yet the executive of the TAB are paid $700k, and not be held To any examination!, Is there any wonder that the TAB has gone downhill, and will continue to, unless they alter their business plan

Greg, truth of the matter is that the Bookies dont worry too much about the gallop punters. Not sure now what the figures are, but several years ago there were next to no restricted punters on the gallops. The fact is that the AML act has reduced turnover on harness hugely, as I said it would as punters just dont bother now! To have to Identify yourself for collecting $1k irrespective of how much you put on is just blatant control, that the TAB wants. You would have to be losing the plot if you think that people are money laundering for 1k at the TAB!!!!! The fact that Trackside Bookie announced bets of $200 is worth mentioning shows how risk averse they now are!!!!

I dont condone violence either, and most people with intelligence dont!! HonestJohn, not sure why you call yourself Honest, but there must be some storey behind it?.. What I see as the problem is that the so called Racing Integrity Unit has totally effed many peoples lives! The facts are that there are employees of the RIU that have very little integrity and yet they have the audacity to persecute some of our best performers! For some reason there is some effwits that want to hang young Matt Anderson out to dry? The effing media continually want to make headlines of him, with pictures of him leaving jail from a couple of years ago! I am sure Matt Anderson regrets the events that occurred in February and no it doesnt read well! What I do know is that our Racing Integrity Unit need to take a long look at themselves for the BS thst they have put many through unnecessarily! I am not saying that is all bad, but FFS why does the media want to make headlines BS about a harness driver domestic? Someone has got something against harness racing in general!!! I get you everytime Basil! What part of the NZ TAB’s flawed business plan do you not get? Turnover dropping so NZ TAB pays out less to harness for stakes and therefore We lose horses, trainers, owners and even more punters!! It is such a flawed business plan that will inevitably result in the TAB wanting more money to bail it out, and our Lefty government will be saying no! Any business needs turnover and new people coming through or it will go broke.The NZ TAB would be gone if it hadnt been for the NZ Taxpayer. To stop any winning punter permanently and the AML is just putting a permanent nail in the coffin! They may as well get rid of the Bookies if they are not Prepared to take bets off punters who want to offload!! To be announcing bets like $200 as a noteworthy wager, just goes to show how pathetic the Bookies have become!!!

Phil Holden CEO of HRNZ has finally made the announcement that was due last week, but unfortunately he has not got great news! Firstly the stake money available from the TAB for racing at $139m is the same as last year, however harness racing is going to receive 7% less, because their turnover was down compared to greyhound racing! This can be majorly contributed to the fact that the NZ TAB has restricted the Brodster So much that he hardly ever bothers! Secondly, the socalled Anti Money Laundering Bill has also majorly affected turnover so much, so that what the Brodster has said on several times, clearly shows that once again he is on the money!! The fact is that the reduction in turnover on harness is solely due to the NZ TAB making stupid decisions!!! To improve turnover they Need to encourage punters by getting rid of the restrictions and then the AML restrictions will not matter ! The other major decision by the TAB is that instead of paying the harness clubs as they go, they are going to be making the payments one month after!!! This is going to severely affect the drivers and drivers funds!!! Things are going from bad to worse for everyone!

Where is our esteemed Phil Holden? What is everyones opinion of Mr Holden’s announcement re the stakes distribution that was announced last week? Sorry, forgot we havent had it yet, must be exciting!

Now there is a thought, Happy Would make the NZ Cup a lot more exciting, all the AllStars horses being driven by amateurs. Would make it a helluva lot fairer, cos at this stage they may as well hand over the cheque and Cup!

I note HRNZ news dated 4th August 2020, but nothing from the CEO of HRNZ Mr Peter Holden, in regards to stakes distribution! We were told that we would get this last week and yet we have heard nothing!!!!! So our highly paid temporary CEO, that wants to keep the seat warm permanently, doesnt do what he says he is going to do? Think it is time HRNZ got someone in that is going to perform and know about harness Racing!

Personally think that is just an absolute joke that the TAB opens up a book on horses that have not even had their trainers nominate the horse for a race that is Well lver 3 months away! Wouldnt think there would be anyone back Self Assured at $1.90 To win a race over 3200m from a stand. Seriously stupid as even if it did start, it would be paying more than that on Cup Day!!! They wouldnt let some punters on for much anyway!

Michael if it really is Michael House! Forums are for discussion and peoples opinions and mostly people use non de plumes. Why on earth do you require someones name so that you will talk to them? If you are really who you say you are, you will be aware that your name is bandied around as being the informant! Whether you are or not does not affect too many on BOAY. however I would have thought that if you werent the informant, You would be wanting to stringently deny such fact, otherwise the rumour will remain

From what i have heard on the grapevine, Mr Holden is only very part time and this is not what Harness needs! Ken Spicer appointed Mr Holden as a friend rather than on ability and this is clearly showing HRNZ! If you want harness to continue, you need to be doing something about it before it is too late! Where is the big announcement?
