Because of the lockdown. The Covid19 strain we have in Australasia is clearly not as devastating as many countries overseas and where they have an aged population. We have had 160,000 or more tests and not one single death of anyone under 60 and those over had underlying issues. We can all agree to disagree and this is very divisive. The reality is that there is going to be a helluva lot more deaths due to the actions of being locked up and effing the economy. Watched PaulMurray last night on Sky and the Expert on mental health over there is expecting an extra 1500 deaths per year for the next 5 years due to suicide!!

Mardigras, if you don’t think that this lockdown is not having any affect on the economic system and people’s financial situation, then it is not worth debating with you. Most people in Nz are being screwed! I suggest that you watch a bit of TV. You clearly have lost the plot and must be taking the piss!!!!!

The ones that think that the government has done a great job and are also still scared to leave their house will tend to be people that have not got a lot to lose. A business owner that is losing everything will not be thinking the same as the sheep that follow her every word. Under level 2 you have to still have the social distancing of 2 metres and yet kids are allowed to go to school with no social distancing??? if it was such a killer virus why are kids allowed at school with no distancing???? I think some people might change their minds when their employer comes to them and gives them the don’t come Monday and they join the Jobseeker line!!

Chief, you are wasting your time arguing with the sheep that think that Ardern has done everything perfectly. The truth is that Ardern, Bloomfield and the media scared the living daylights out of people that are very easily led to believe. Yes Ardern did do some things correctly, but the government has done a helluva lot poorly, including acting illegally in locking us up and having the NZ Police charging people when they had absolutely no right to do so. These charges have to be dropped ASAP! The clown that they listened to in regards to the modelling as to how many would die should never be listened to again. what an absolute dick! In Oz they were told up to 150,000 could die and yet they have had under 100 and they were oldies that were vulnerable with issues. The reality is that there will be heaps of people now with mental health issues that didn’t have any before and will include suicides unfortunately. Ardern is not a leader, she is a trained speaker Socialist with extremely dangerous ideology. She has stated that this was an opportunity to close the gap of inequality in NZ! That is the sign of a very dangerous person in a very powerful position.

Chief, the thing that I have realised since we have been in Home Detention is that I realise that we had more woolly sheep in Nz than gumans but I didn’t realise that we also had so many two legged human sheep without the wool!!!! Too many people are prepared to just go with the flow and not question anything and I will not apologise for not being a socialist and being led by a control freak! Spoke to a bloke yesterday that made a delivery to us and he thought Ardern was great! I asked why he thought that and he said he had never had such a pay rise before as he was obviously talking about the minimum pay rate that was happening! Apart from that he was at a loss as to what of benefit this government had done for NZ and he did admit that the ones around her were not the best. We have supposedly a Mr Twyford who is the Minister for Economic Development who is going to be in charge of pulling NZ out of this mess that we are in financially, and yet we haven’t seen or heard from him as to what his plan was! Seems like our Prime Minister can do no wrong in the eyes of the flock of sheep that think she is great, so god we do need some serious help! If stating the truth and not being a sheep is being grumpy in some people’s eyes, I will take that any day over being one of the flock of sheep!

Basil, firstly for some reason you originally mentioned personnel costs and you clearly were publishing wrong figures. Secondly no I don’t believe everything I read, but what I do know is that there will be that many people employed by the CCC on big money that add nothing to the CHRISTCHURCH scene. I can only quote what someone from the media has researched and what figure to believe is always hard to grasp as the figures quoted by the CCC are never accurate. cost overruns on everything and delays. Mega dollars blown on bloody cycle lanes at the expense of business
-
Basil, fact check! what are you on about personnel expenses? Talking about salaries have gone up to about 40% of operating costs now, not personal expenses!!! Baxendale came over to Nz to be on a salary of $500k plus as far as I can remember anyway 495 k is pretty close to $500k if she didn’t start on over 500k plus we paid heaps for transfer expenses
-
If they can justify these salaries of at least $2k per week then haven’t got a problem, however I would be pretty confident to say that most of them would be doing next to nothing to justify at least $100k! These big wigs are on the gravy train and because they are grossly overpaid, then they don’t mind that others are being paid too much. Then things get a bit hard and they want the taxpayer to help them out??? Earn your exorbitant salaries or piss off!
-
Just heard on TV1 news that RITA are going to be making 230 odd people redundant! Apart from salary cuts and spending savings it was not going to be enough to offset the drop in wagering. Will be very interesting to see what the jobs at RITA are that are being gotten rid of? Will the big wigs take a salary cut, of course not because they have got rid of 230 jobs that perhaps were t needed anyway! Read the other day that 25% of CHRISTCHURCH City Council workers were on in excess of $100k and the wages Bill was something like 40% of the expenses of the council, no wonder our rates have increased incredibly over the last few years. These companies that are paid by the taxpayer and ratepayers just don’t seem to have any qualms about ripping the people that pay their salaries off!!!! The Accountant or someone along that line at the CCC that came from England is on well in excess of $500k or $10k per week?????

Always Kevin to people that knew him well!
-
Wasnt he K.J.Vincent? Kevin John Vincent?
-
Ranga, do you think you have an identity crisis happening? You seem to be very confused, as long as you don’t appear as an egotistical current prime minister, all will be good!
-
Kevin Vincent trained. Terrible driver, could train ok!

Mehe, where on earth do you get that a second round is worse than the first? NZ has not Lost a single person to the virus that didn’t have bad underlying conditions. The fact that the youngest was over 60 and most were all close to 90 tends to suggest something Mehe ! the virus given to our economy is the disease and not Covid19
-
Mehe, all the best with your treatment. Word is that this lockdown is going to take 18 months to catch-up. There has been 60,000 medical appointments not held and 30,000 elective surgery operations not done due to the decisions that have been made by the government. The hospitals have never ever been quieter than what they have been since lockdown with nurses and Drs. Twiddling their thumbs waiting for the surge in Covid19 infected people, that just never happened. Older people and overweight people have been pushed down the list for elective surgery, and in fact many will die because they will never have the required operation due to flawed government decision to cancel all elective surgeries!!!!!! Mehe, stop going on about overseas, we have a total different strain of the virus and different conditions to overseas.

Happy, I think thenTAB have got bigger worries than the Brodster at the moment. There is going to be redundancies galore there I am sure. They took the wage subsidy like many businesses and then they close down or lay employees off. She has already stated that she is not going to level 2 earlier 2 weeks, as it is all about control. Any decent leader would be assessing the current situation and adapt from there. Anyway, totally over the BS from this and let’s just see what unfolds from here. This virus is not a dangerous virus for NZ, wait till the flu comes here in the next few weeks and everyone with the sniffles will think they have Covid19. Not a single death in NZ to anyone with reasonable health, and 160,000 tests and next to no one ever in hospital.
-
BS!!! if we were only down by 25% then why are they expecting 300,000 benefit applications. There are going to be that much blood on the floor with businesses laying off heaps in the next few weeks! We have had no positives in NZ for 2 days and pathetically low no.s for over a week now and yet 1000 per day is enrolling at WINZ!!!! Yeah she is going great! Baaa!
