  1. Sorry no money
  2. Jewels Day would cost the industry a helluva lot of money as well. We all know that there is money in racing a horse nowadays, with the costs continuing to increase and stake money no better than 30 years ago. You can not blame owners selling their horses overseas when they have got next to no show of winning the stakes races where the bigger stakes are! Stakes decreasing, punters being driven away, yeah going good Ken!
  3. There clearly has been things said by trainers/drivers during the investigations, however does it constitute race fixing? Certainly got no real idea of what has been said or done by those charged, however if it is just people discussing driving tactics, this would hardly constitute race fixing, as this has been going on since racing probably started and drivers even discuss this on Trackside prior to races. Some of you will be well aware of what has been said, but from what I have heard, whether it be right or wrong, nothing like race fixing at all. Most of the drivers know each other pretty well and would often discuss things prior to a race. Are you saying that the drivers for a stable that has 4 or 5 runners in a big race never discuss things prior to the race??? Of course they do, so does that constitute race fixing charges as well?
  4. Jonny, I reiterate Sam did manifestly overdo the whipp8mg without doubt, and no real defence either! However, there is a common trend that happens with many of the decisions made, and that is that the easykill are always targeted, and the big names are shown leniency and favoured. There are many instances of this which there is no point going into at this stage. Not defending Sam Thornley whatsoever and he should receive some sort of punishment. Have never seen him drive before and so just going off the one and only drive that he had on Copperhead Rose which I understand now is a male horse rather than female, as it name suggest more on the female side. The horse only responds to serious urgings as previous wins have shown it is the only way he wins. Apart from the excessive whip Sam drove the horse perfectly and sending him back to the trials to learn more is not necessarily the right way for him to learn that he used the whip far too many times! We need as many young ones coming into harness racing rather than driving them out of the sport, and geez we have got a major shortage of male juniors throughout the country at the moment and probably not looking too promising in the future! First drive and we castigate the young fellah and yes it was pretty reckless, however a severe telling off and maybe some work helping someone out unpaid would be more of a suitable punishment. Hopefully this young fellah doesn’t spit the dummy and leave the industry as I believe he has the makings of a very successful junior. As for the other stuff Johnny, you could be right, just frustrating when things are brought in to the detriment of the punter, who, without them, racing is done!
  5. Plenty in Oz!
  6. I must admit I do go over some things many times, but my perogative to keep pointing out the injustices and silliness that has crept into racing in NZ. You can think that everything is rosie, however just because there are rule changes doesn’t mean they are for the better or fair, and just because the NZ TAB only wants losing punters, doesn’t make it right, Tonka.
  7. FFS, Ranga, are you deliberately trying to be a pain in the arse! Can not be bothered with you as you are deliberately looking for an argument! Dismissing and dropping to most semi intelligent would be one and the same, but not to you because you just want to be antagonistic! Leave you to it
  8. Exactly, they shouldn’t be charged unless there is sufficient evidence! Who pays for Nigel’s defence costs?
  9. So isn’t the Judge dismissing the charge the same thing as the charge being dropped by the Judge, RANGA!!!!!!!! Not sufficient evidence so charge had to be dropped, he wasn’t found not guilty, the bloody charge was dropped!!!!!
  10. Happy, of course you are correct, I have previously stated that people aren’t punting all gotten gains thru the TAB. The rule of laundering at the TAB thru the AML act is $10k yet the TAB wants it to be $1k so they can control punters to determine who is wagering and collecting the pathetic amount of $1k! How many gang members or drug dealing people have you seen in TAB agencies and/or Oncourse? I suggest none and if they are putting large amounts in TAB accounts, then that is easily recognised by the TAB! The AML Act is just smoke and mirrors and being used as an excuse just so that they now have full control of everything!
  11. I see the charge on Nigel McGrath has been dropped, not sufficient evidence. What an absolute balls up and waste of time and bad publicity this has caused!
  12. Tonka, are you sure you got all of them? Forums, are an avenue for ranting or expressing opinion! The fact that you want to just disagree with Brodie on everything even when I am right, is just as tedious as me ranting!! You have absolutely no credibility whatsoever now, when you say that Iraklis is more intelligent than the “voice of reason”.
  13. So you are saying that people who are collecting over $1k from Lotto is also a possible money launderer due to having winning no.s? It is all so blatantly stupid! The TAB Bookmakers accept multiple wagers yesterday at Rangiora on a horse one being 13k at $1.60 and several others on the same horse. The Bookies obviously knew who this punter was and accepted his money! Other punters can not get anything like that amount on and are restricted to under $100 on most occasions and they are classed as possible launderers of money and the $13k punter isn’t!!! Is there anyone apart from Plonker and Ranga that think that this is fair and reasonable?
  14. Bit tough when u drive a perfect race and win and they tell Sam that he is not good enough yet to be driving in tote races. Some of the RIU should go back to school
  15. You are a very wise man Chief
  16. Apologise must be transgender with rose name
  17. Off course it shows that the TAB thinks that someone who has invested $2 and collected $1k could be a money launderer as they have to prove who is collecting that massive sum! Why does the TAB staff need to ask a punter for ID when they clearly are not a launderer just got lucky with a collect. Asking regular punters known to the TAB staff as Not laundering money, but just trying to have a punt for ID every damn time has got nothing to do with money laundering but controlling the bigger punters. Why don’t they follow the rules as defined in the Act which is $10k??????????
  18. Everyone is considered a money launderer Ranga! If you collect over 1k you have to produce ID to identify yourself! What part of that don’t you understand?
  19. Don’t know Sam Thornley at all, but I do know from watching Copperhead Rose, that she only runs well from vigorous urging. Sam was clearly driving from instructions which he followed. Another Win by the horse at Addington, the driver showed the same vigour and was not punished if I recall correctly.
  20. I appreciate Happy that he seriously broke the rule of 10 hits, however to demote him to back to trials is unfairly,. Why haven’t the professional horsemen that have been done for excessive whip had their licenses downgraded to trials as well? Easy kill for the RIU, think he would’ve learnt more by giving him a suspension rather than demotion, as clearly the young man can clearly drive well by winning his first and only drive!!
  21. Cos you got nothing Tonka! You state something just like Ranga and then kick for touch! What did you call me out in regards to the AML Act? You think that everyone should be considered money launderers if they are collecting over $1k???? You have lost the plot if that is your thoughts!!!
  22. What have you called me out on then? I await with baited!!
  23. It did improve heaps with the new trainer Mitchell Kerr, and that wouldn’t have been hard to do bearing in mind the previous trainer Newmarket. You will notice many horses that are going to new young trainers at the moment are going very well fresh up and they go off. Not going to name the trainers but pretty obvious from results. When Arcano won over 1980m at Addington first up you couldn’t have liked it on the way it had been going, but with a young progressive trainer and the money on, it wasn’t that surprising. Was Arcano good enough to race in Canterbury with the previous trainer at this time, No. As I have said Arcano has never really been much cop over anything but a shorter distance.
