  1. Ranga wasn’t aimed at Nelson. Was a statement to say that mile racing in NZ should be banned. Cambridge are Into it on Friday night and that is just blatantly dumb decision by the programming people involved. What is this fixation on mile racing that some of these clubs are now entering into? Total turnoff and racing over a distance is what makes NZ racing so much better than other countries who race over the short distances.
  2. Mile racing in NZ should be banned. So ridiculous as a betting proposition. Horses can go just as quick mile rate wise over 2000m or 1950m
  3. Yeah got a few handy horses lol
  4. Globe, nothing at all to do with being well heeled, and personally speaking we have got many heels!!! If he wants to put millions into the harness industry then that is his business and certainly never envious of anyone, don’t need to be! As for being envious of the AllStars stable, would wonder why that would be? Globe, the industry is haemorrhaging big time already and many people know this,.
  5. Whiteman, I appreciate Trevor spends plenty owning horses, but it doesn’t appear that he is starving though!
  6. Wonder if Mr McCarthy would also publicise what the costs on average per month was to be able to achieve that $500k?
  7. Chief, yes I do think that it does matter if Ricky was breathing or not! Due to the fact that many people were actually watching the unfortunate event on tv meant that people were deeply concerned! If it happened on the training track then there probably would be concern but probably not so much!, Anyway, the great thing is that Ricky appears to be on the improve rather than what appeared initially!
  8. Why is it hard to believe? All Harness enthusiasts are well aware that the AllStars stables plunder the majority of the stake money in the big races. Can Mr McCarthy kindly publish what the monthly stake money won on average for all the other owners of horses raced outside of the AllStars stable? That would be far more beneficial going forward as to whether it is going to be worthwhile for new and existing owners to race a horse!!!!!!!!
  9. The Stipes reports are generally very poor, they state the flippen obvious that anyone can see from replays. Would not think it would take a lot of training to be a Stipendiary Steward as what do they actually do? And yes Dougie, you are correct the tote turnover is definitely declining going by the tote pools that are showing on Trackside. There has been a lot of racing over Xmas period and some people back at work today, but the couple of races I saw today from Cromwell had very small pools.
  10. Personally think that due to the circumstances and that Ricky May is well liked and one of our best drivers there was a helluva lot of interest into how Ricky was. Yes of course the May family was entitled to privacy seem Ricky was pretty critical in the early stages. However, I am sure most people also appreciate the work that Andrew Fitzgerald, Garrick Knight and Micky Guerin did in trying to inform the concerned of the situation. Only problem was that we seemed to get different stories. We were told that Ricky may have stopped breathing for up to 20 minutes and then we hear that he was breathing when Ellie Barron got to him! So if he was breathing, I wonder why CPR was needed to be performed?
  11. Fair enough Ranga, but to the detriment of race winners who raced for $6k yesterday and $7k tomorrow? It costs just as much to keep a race winner in work as a maiden! Seriously, why would you bother?
  12. Love watching the Cromwell trots and they are probably quite a progressive club considering that they only have the one harness meeting a year! I note that all the maiden races are worth $10k which is good! However, question why race winners are racing for lesser stakes in several of the races, including one for as little as $7k? Roxburgh the other day, the amateurs raced for a pittance being $6k!!!!!! yes I appreciate we need to attract maidens to race but surely there are more than enough maidens around, but what incentive is there to race horses when race winners are racing for $6k and $7k?. Personally believe that race winners should be racing for at least what non winners are racing for and you can see why our horses are being sold overseas in big numbers! Anyway, hope everyone had a good New Year and if you are still punting, then have a prosperous successful year,
  13. Yes does put things into perspective! Ricky is a great driver and an even better bloke. Didnt look flash on TV and a big thanks to the people responsible for saving him. All the very best to Ricky and family
  14. Blossom, apparently it is that the AllStars are far more professional! That is it, it just must be!!
  15. The only case Ranga, is that you are a Head Case! Happy New Year!
  16. Greg, clubs have run races with a handful of starters for good stake money! This will not continue as it is not economically viable!!!!!!!!!! That is it!!!!!!
  17. The upside now is that I have got far more time to enjoy life!
  18. Firstly Greg, I believe that most owners in NZ would be wanting the big race stakes being paid out to far more owners than the select ones that are currently receiving them that are with the AllStars stable!!!!!!! Secondly, of course I am a National voter as this coalition government is absolutely damaging to the country. Finally, the clubs can not afford to be running races in NZ that have only have half a dozen or so starters! There is a major shortage of horses getting thru the grades as they are being sold by their owners as Racing has become so unaffordable with costs rising and stakes having gone backwards in many cases. You can put any spin you damn well want to Greg, but the Auckland Cup used to be a prestigious race many years ago, but nowadays it is but a yawnfest!!
  19. Exactly Greg, the AllStars owners are only interested in themselves, and they will continue to until harness racing is killed off in NZ! Clubs will eventually not be prepared to program and run races that have only AllStars horses lining up for big stakes as it is not economical!!
  20. Was the Box Seat on tonight? No one has knocked the performances of the AllStars stables performances of their horses whatsoever as far as I am aware. There has been questions asked as to how on earth is one stable so dominant year after year, and how can their horses do things that no other stable in NZ can do???? Anyone with some intellect should be able to realise that this continued dominance of all the big stakes races and all the money going to the same owners will kill the harness sport!
  21. Errors of my ways? Thru to the keeper with that one! What errors Ranga?
  22. You what?? Big brother could be watching you Ranga!
  23. Yes Happy, I have had some Pretty good days there over past years, but it has just become so difficult getting enough on to make it worth my while and opening odds are generally well under. Yes I still pick quite a few placegetters still and I do still watch, but overall I don’t actually miss the wagering as I just got totally sick of having to try and beat the TAB Bookies and being treated differently to other punters! To the ones that think it is possible to do things to beat the Bookies if you are a winning punter, I say you have never been in my position and you are full of it!!!!! Not going to disclose what my best days have been but let’s just say it was fun while it lasted but at the end of the day the TAB have stopped me from punting but then again the Bookies still need to be working for a living!!
  24. Of course Freda, always gets a great Xmas crowd for the social outing but they aren’t sitting in the grandstand. Have you been in the grandstand there Freda?
  25. Havent been to Motukarara for a wee while but it was always overly endowed with bird shit and leaking spouting
