  1. There are a few around that rate mile racing from your crowd Globe!!!!! It is the worst type of racing end of story!!
  2. What the heck? Brodie might get egg on his face, but I doubt it! Donegal Davey Boyd drawn the outside over 2000m at Rangiora opens at $4.20!!!!! The horse has not won in 10starts and can’t win at Forbury and is up against all race winners! Yes Dexter is on but he always is on it and hasn’t won against maidens and yet $4.20 from the outside gate??? Seriously why would it be so short? Do the Bookies know something that Brodie doesn’t????? I know I will get hammered if it wins but I wouldn’t think so! Maybe the Bookies should do a “special” Beragio into Donegal Davey Boyd!!!!!
  3. Does that make Risk a better horse than Lazarus then? Mile Racing is so overrated. Most horses can run a mile and you got black print when you rated under 2.0minutes. Then anything in the 1.50’s was motoring and noteworthy! Now they are running sub 1.50 in qualifying over there! What sort of time would that mare that the Tritons bought off the Teaz’s? She could run sub 1.50 at Menangle somshe would go a helluva lot quicker in the States if she was still sound and at peak. When they are running those sort of times it becomes just a damn procession as you have got no show of making up ground!
  4. Thanks Chief for posting Lazarus race. Great for NZ harness that he won and gives enthusiasts something to talk about and it might mean that more Yanks come looking for our better class horses. The Race was extremely BORING though wasn’t it? You can hardly get excited about MILE races and as I have previously said the fewer that we have in NZ the better! Thank god that the next Jewels is over a longer distance as miles are a borefest!!!! Well done Lazarus!!!
  5. She certainly wasn’t a happy camper tonight. Before the race she couldn’t even pace a yard, and appeared to be extremely sore or something? One of the worst prelims you coul ,possibly ever see, and surprising Alicia even got her pacing eventually. Dont think it was Alicia’s fault I think it was the horse on the night! You would want to see a major improvement in attitude next up to warrant backing it!
  6. You would put anyone off Scooby!
  7. Hesi, can you tell if it is the Dickhead? If it is he needs serious help and this isn’t the site that can give it to him!
  8. Geez, this isn’t really him is it? Congatulations Doug on your bold move to start this Premier Racing Community site, it is a total credit to you and any others that assisted you, well done!! ! I note on the darkside that Newmarket which is the Scoob Operator is still continuing to start topics as no one else will. Last one he is saying that the racing is currently boring just because the Allstars are not racing. Malcolm disagrees with him. The reality is that the average harness racing enthusiast are over the dominance of the AllStars stables. It is turning so many people off harness racing being owners, trainers and punters. It is not going to be any different this season as they will clean up the group and feature races again and there will be more owners that drop out, there will be more trainers give it away as owners drop off and the punters won’t be bothered due to the pathetic odds in the races dominated by the AllStars stables. No it is not sour grapes or the tall poppy syndrome at all, doesn’t affect my financial position whatsoever. It does affect so many in the industry and it is going to be diabolically bad for the industry should this domination continue over the next few years! I would put my last few million on that if the TAB will give me reasonable odds!! !
  9. Yes, he is in again Beragio!!! Race 5 on Sunday at Rangiora drawn the second row from a STAND! Murray Edmonds is down to drive him this time! Imwish Murray all,the best in getting this horse away and keeping it lacing the whole race! Why on earth is he allowed to race and why isn’t he UNRULY?????? Anyone prepared to give Brodie “evens” on whether Beragio Gallops in the Race???? Should be a TAB option!!!!
  10. Certainly hope it wasn’t after the old white mans post. Reality is that there is buggerall racing in the top of the S.I. Not sure why Mark Gill wouldn’t send his horses to Palmy as he would probably win the odd race up there.
  11. Had the set as well Happy! Wife wanted rid of them about 10 years ago and sold them for next to nothing at a garage sale. Can probably afford to buy the set back but don’t think she would allow me to hang them anywhere but the garage
  12. What on earth are you on about? Another one from the darkside just arguing for the sheer hell of it! Is that the best you have got? You are another one I wouldn’t waste my time on again, as you have been sent over to upset this Premier Racing Community site!
  13. Haven’t weighed either of them Sorry, but Chris would be far heavier!!
  14. So what is the weight of Chris??
  15. Oldwhiteman, what have you got against M Gill. There are other trainers who don’t even train a winner in a season!!! Ivan Schwamm’s UDR for 2016 was 0133 having 25 starts for a 3rd which was probably Moy His UDR for 2017 was 0101 having 33 starts for a 3rd once again and probably Moy You can rest assured that there are plenty of others that have lower UDR’s than 0502! Dont know why you have pointed out M Gill’s training record ?
  16. At the end of the day, it was an amateur race. They are amateurs and every amateur race is run differently and with some very poor drives in all,of them. We have debated amateur races before and I personally have sorted out horses that should get in but are beaten by poor drives or poor drives by other amateurs. Debateable whether there should be betting on these races but it is up to the punter to decide whether they want to be in or not. We have to take the good with the bad and the Amateurs are only doing it for the fun of it rather than requiring to make an income or future out of it!
  17. So you are saying that Chris Thornley is lighter than Grant?.
  18. No comment, what I say could be taken down as evidence!
  19. The boat hasn’t sailed yet!
  20. It certainly will not be at my peril at all Harewood. I won’t be investing on the NZ Cup.
  21. Welcome Harewood, Chicago Bull is a very good horse we all know, but it is very hard for an Australian based horse to come over here and win The Cup. He is used to racing on the small tracks and 2 mile stand isn’t that easy for them. I would say that it will be a blue and silver again, not sure which one but they will line up a few I would think.
  22. Of course I am on the money! Grant Ross from looking at him in the cart live, and from videos he is clearly lighter than the other mentioned driver!
  23. Not necessarily, light weight is certainly a major contributing fact but you also have to have the ability to read a race and know your horses ability. Dexter, Blair, Ricky, Robbie Close, Mark Purdon, Natalie, John Dunn etc the top drivers are all lightweight and do their homework rather than just jumping in the sulky.
  24. Would Clive have won yesterday with Chris in the cart, we won’t know will we, but I would’ve said no the way the race was run, too much weight Counter Punch,. How do you stop a horse from winning, load them with weight. Yes Clive has been disappointing and looked like he would’ve won a lot more, but I won’t offer more reasoning for why he didn’t. Far reaching? Just going by the current stats and don’t like pitting one driver against another as very pointless in that there are excellent drivers, average drivers and very mediocre drivers, and that is just part of the challenge in sorting out and making money on the punt! I just wish all new drivers and trainers into the industry, the best of luck in a very hard industry to succeed in. Great to have you on this site Counter Punch, but you need to contribute more often.
  25. Counter Punch, not doubting that Chris is a decent horseman! As you are aware, I firmly believe that being heavy is not beneficial to being a successful driver. It has been debated many times before I realise. Everyone is different and that is good but I think you will agree that all the top drivers are lightweights as it is a distinct Advantage. The female drivers that go Good are very light and is an advantage. Personally not knocking Chris Thornley’s horsemanship whatsoever but knew yesterday that with Grant in the sulky and the way he was handling Clive, the horse had been thrown into that race with a great chance. Personally don’t know Grant Ross but we certainly need new people coming into the driving ranks. I think if you check the UDR’ currently Grant Ross’s UDR would be better than Chris’s and to drive a winner at your 3rd drive against open horse people is not a bad effort. He did get fined for excess whip but then again it is a blatantly stupid rule anyway and Clive is the type of horse that does need persuading. I note that the term excessive use of the whip has now been superseded and is now exceeded the permitted no. Which is clearly showing that they do not think that 10 hits is excessive but they were silly to put a no. On it. Drivers are getting done for just trying to win a race!!!!!!
