What I am saying is that the costs to run racing in NZ is more than what the TAB receives. I have it on very good authority! A lot of meetings run in NZ costs them!
-
Geez, you are an antagonistic xxxxxx The TAB doesn’t make money on NZ Racing!!! They make money on sports betting and Oz Racing! !! I have it on very good authority Ranga xxxx Tira, but I certainly am not going to name names on a public forum!!!
-
Rangatira, if you know more than what the boys at the TAB do, then kindly advise us all of your qualifications! Why is it that they want to close so many tracks if they are making money for the TAB. Sports betting is where they are making the money, and that is subsidising the racing.
-
Rangatira, what the hell is it with you that you want to be such an antagonistic dickhead???? Ask the big boys at the TAB, and they will tell you! Full of it? Yes, full of knowledge!

The problem is that the costs of running racing is too high compared to the amount of profit being generated. The track attendance at most meetings nowadays is abysmal and it is the same punters that keep going, however I personally know many who have given up going in recent years. The TAB doesn’t make money on racing in NZ and would be happy just to have sports betting as it costs them very little to run. There are going to be drastic changes coming in in the next couple of years and is going to costs thousands of people their jobs. New punters need to be enticed into punting or the industry is doomed!

More of the dear and less of the old!

How can you ban it, when The recently retired Beragio got away with so much. You are right, the Stipes need to a,e decisions on these unruly horses, but they would rather fine or suspend drivers who are out to win races!!
-
Another Kelly Evander in the making. As I say, some people race horses that are not worth the effort and aren’t competitive.

Motukarara has next to none racing days for Gallops. Harness will Clearly still Race there, providing they get a decent cell tower there, and stop having the old time music blurting out every meeting!

Written Questions for Winston and Messara to Answer.

Who cares about Gallops??? What is going to happen with harness? I can see that people are going to get very disillusioned with racing in NZ as a viable career. -
The big thing is also the loss of a huge number of the jobs at the TAB. How many agencies are goi g to stay open! I suggest not that many! There is going to be a major shake up, and it isn’t going to be for the best for many.

I see that Lets Elope is now back from racing in Australia for a few years. He is now a 10 year old and you would wonder why the owners have brought him back ,although there is bugger all open class horses around in the North Island at the moment, so maybe they think they can do better than Ox. It is very rare indeed for male horses to come back to Nz when they are easier to place around the states in Oz! He is in a 4 horse field at Cambridge on Thursday night. Rangatira, don’t flippen bother!!!!

Rangatira, apologies to the other people on here, but you are not going to ruin this site like you are trying to, but you are just a dickhead!

Really Honkin, I believe ended up with Lindsay Kerslake with the dual sulkies! Yes he could really run.
-
Newmarket, crazy comment! So all the trainers don’t want to win good money with horses that come up early as two year olds just so that they can win the Jewels? We all know who wins most of the Jewels races! Jewels is just so over rated!!!!
-
Rangatira, can’t be bothered with your efforts to have Brodie on, winners to sort for Addington. Discuss things with yourself!
-
Hi Robert. They will win most if not all of the 2 year old races that they compete in! The Thing is that 2 year old racing was very strong just after Cup time many years ago in Christchurch but now it doesn’t really start till the new year, and most don’t bother now because they know there is no money in it! Reality is that the domination is having a helluva detrimental effect on harness racing in NZ whether you believe it or not! The next few years are going to be very vital to where the sport is going to go!

Very intelligent posting but we could expect something like this couldn’t we? Productive Not!
-
Probably not, because you don’t always write stuff that makes sense

Reduce the percentage whipped out of the tote pools so that the divs. especially the place are at least worth getting. Many races all 3 place divs are pretty pointless getting which turns any semi serious punter off. Fixed Odds percentages need to be increased as well to keep punters interested. And yes, I do get it!
-
Now that’s being a bit personal!
-
Where have I said I don’t like slow horses? Love slow horses it makes punting far easier! What I can’t understand is why someone would persevere with such a poor racehorse? Of course it is up to the owner or trainer whether he wants to persist with it, but as a racing proposition Kelly Evander wasn’t one! As for The Allstars their right to race whatever they want, doesn’t affect me financially whatsoever but it does affect everyone else in harness racing that is trying to make a living.

There are several things that need to be done to increase turnover! Yes take the betting restrictions off all punters, Yes, make the opening Odds more attractive to invest, as the opening odds are quite often pathetic and doesn’t encourage offloading! While we have very small fields, often dominated by one stable then turnover will suffer. We need new punters to be enticed to invest on harness racing otherwise the industry is stuffed as the older ones move on to greener pastures. The TAB’s business plan is totally flawed as I have stated many times by wanting their yield on harness increased to the detriment of turnover. Bigger the turnover, bigger the number of punters that will provide income for the industry. The problem is getting people to the course nowadays as there are so many other things that the younger ones would rather spend their hard earned on! Punters should not be made to feel like criminals by just wanting to invest on harness racing, by being restricted!!!!!!!!!!
