  1. You missed the point Nowornever! I don’t give a rats about the tote odds and if punters want to bet on the tote horses that Don’t have much chance then that is their doing. The point I was making is that DadnDave was pushing it uphill with Tim on board in that race, being a maiden racing against race winners, which Brodie was proven correct! He should’ve been double figures at least to win that race, $4.50 Fixed to win was ludicrous. Even with Ricky May on it should’ve been $10 at least. You would’ve been a very poor punter to have backed it at that as it had been far longer in maiden races without looking like winning! If the Bookies want punters to invest then they need to be offering odds that will attract money, rather than put them off.
  2. Fair enough Gavin. Agree to disagree, as I don’t believe it achieves a helluva lot especially seem it is in the same week as the people have been charged. It is just saying that geez it is so easy to rig or fix a race. These people have been charged and it will be like their world which is harness racing has collapsed around them. Maybe Brodie has become more compassionate over the years! People have different views on things which makes life more interesting.
  3. What are you on Nowornever? What paid $4.40 and $1.60.? DadnDave didnt pay anything as it finished near last of course!!!! Brodie as usual “on the money”
  4. Dunn’s have a few what? Horses? Are you sure??
  5. I am in the minority here in regards to the publishing of the article from Mat Kermeen which is fine. My point is that for the sake of the future of harness racing I believe that this journo has not helped the cause. Very easy to put the boot into people when they are down and clearly are unable to defend themselves! Can not see the point in telling all,and sundry how easy it is to rig a harness race! With huge wagering on sport it is just as easy to rig a rugby or rugby league game as well! Just don’t tackle and let the other team score more points!! Agree to disagree with most I would say, but that is all good.
  6. And why on earth would someone representing harness racing damn well want to tell the public. How on earth is that going to encourage new participants into the sport that we need? Quite the opposite I would say! Every one will, have an opinion and that is good but gutter journalism is not good coming from these journos.
  7. DadnDave Race 3 at Addington tonight opened up at $4.50 to win Fixed! Not too sure how the Bookies can possibly open it so short when it is still a maiden after many starts against maidens and is racing race winners tonight for the first time? Tim Trathen is driving it again tonight and seriously it has to be major unders at that doesn’t it over 2600m? It has gone ok the last couple of races but against maidens and hasn’t looked like winning against them! Place was around the $1.60 as well which is really major unders as well and you couldn’t take it on any given Sunday. One day it will come back to haunt me but seriously Bookies, why so short????? Who sets these ridiculously short odds nowadays and who would bother as it has not got any favours going tonight! There are a couple of very good bets tonight that we’re overs though! Hope everyone has a good night on the punt to make up for such a shambles of a week for harness racing!
  8. The drugs thing is interesting though. There are drugs throughout society in big numbers I would say. Dont personally need them but most get hooked and therefore they need help rather than putting the boot in. If these drivers had them in their system when they were driving, then why hasn’t testing picked this up? I can’t comment in regards to the race fixing and no one else should be until we know what has been actually happening. I am a punter and as such I have taken the good with the bad. Some of the drives on horses that I have backed seems like fraud when some drivers drive absolute shockers. If all these charged drivers do get done, it is certainly going to change the harness landscape in Canterbury.
  9. Thick skinned perhaps Globe, fair and honest as the day is long is “The Brodster”.
  10. Innocent until proven guilty! I appreciate I am pushing it uphill with many on here, but what I will say is that these people have put a helluva lot into harness racing in this country and now they are having their teeth kicked in! Lets just wait until we see what has actually occurred would be best!
  11. I think the news has already been reported. To write ways to actually fix races to the general public is blatantly over the top. So if there was a murder in Christchurch, would a journo write every way that you could murder someone?
  12. Yep, great way to keep, harness going by attracting new owners and punters!!! Way to go!
  13. Overkill. Let us just see what transpired before we react! Innocent until proven guilty I used to think, and here some are putting the boot into the very men that have kept the harness racing industry going in Canterbury.
  14. What a load of bollocks! I don’t see any benefit at all from this journo who you would think was meant to be a harness racing enthusiast! I portray most harness racing trainers as being very hardworking as it is not an industry that is easy to make money in! So you are saying that Blair Orange, Dexter Dunn , John Dunn, Nigel MaGrath etc. are not hardworking and the epitome of harness racing. These fellas work a lot longer in hours than any of you probably do and travel tens of thousands of miles per year just to make a living. I appreciate that they are under suspicion for fixing races which I don’t like either being a punter. I have personally spoken to each one of the accused men over the years to different degrees and can honestly say that every one of them I have found to be down to earth and very likeable. I do not think we should be castigating them at the moment until we know exactly what has been going on! I can take the heat from anyone on here because it does not affect my livelihood, however these men deserve to be heard before they are chucked under the bus!! I am in the minority on this I appreciate it, but for the good of the industry I beleive we should be going easy on it at this stage until the details are out, or we may have no harness industry in the years ahead.
  15. Why bring it more into the public’s notice when the industry has had a hammering this week. This fellah has done the industry no favours.
  16. Newmarket let’s not continue trying to hammer the harness game as it has had a hammering all week. We need to all hang in to keep the industry alive or this could be the death knell for it. I am not condoning race fixing but I don’t beleive it is that common, although I will eat humble pie and be very disappointed if it is rampant! The drugs thing is a bit of a problem but as I say it has a,ways been very common in racing being both harness and Gallops. Young ones nowadays are all under pressure from peer pressure to try them I understand.
  17. Sometimes the men in white coats will just turn up though!
  18. Just read an article from the harness journalist Mat Kermeen who is a journalist for The Press I believe! What a load of disgusting writings that I find apalling being written by the harness journalist for The Press! I beleive this journo took over from Matt Markham who always did a good job. Why on earth would a supporter of harness racing want to write an article about HOW TO FIX A HARNESS RACE???????? With what is currently on why would someone who is meant to be a supporter for the good of harness racing want to write this NEGATIVE BS??? This fellah has obviously been taught by the same journo that wrote the gutter BS about young Bronson Munro! WAY TO GO Mat Kermeen, you are a real asset to be writing on behalf of harness racing! Keep up the great work and you will have no job writing about harness racing! Absolutely poor performance on your behalf, and I tell you now you will get no accolades from most harness racing supporters and I can clearly see why The Press readers are diminishing when they have gutter stories being written once again by their journos. Hang your head in shame as I think it was a totally disgusting article from someone who should be promoting harness racing rather than trying to KILL IT!!! AAAAGH
  19. Seriously, Brodie has been certified as being totally sane! The question has to be asked have you ever been checked out, because seriously you have some major issues that need addressing. If you are on here just to stir shit, then piss Off back to the Darkside, where you would fit in nicely!
  20. Newmarket, Brodie is always on the money! What I say and what I know is always correct! The fact that a third party who is involved with the TAB told me that Dexter is on the way back does not make Brodie Not on the money! I would say he will be on the way back shortly if not already!!!! Disclaimer of course.
  21. You can give up the first two but you shouldn’t penalise yourself for the third one , as not your fault
  22. Probably needs something after these shenanigans! Brodie is always on the money, however he was informed this morning by someone that said that Dexter is on his way back! Whether he meant he was on the plane or has made plans to come back, not sure, but don’t believe that under the circumstances that the police will let him stay over in the U.S.A. Until he wants to come back!! ! Brodie is only as good as his informants and disclaimer is that I can not be blamed for any information that I receive in good faith. Think you will find that I am on the money though, at the rate things are progressing!
  23. Ok, if that is true then I have been informed wrongly! Will be interesting to see what happens then.
  24. Chief, you are dead right in regards to tactical mistakes and odd drives, it happens in every race and that is one of the beauty’s Of Harness Racing! If it all went to plan then the best horse and best driver would win everything e just about. Word has it that Dexter is on his way back from the U.S.A.
