  1. I never said that harness racing would flourish at all! What ai said is that the domination by the one stable is doing major damage to an industry that is already struggling! It is not rocket science to realise that if all the big money is going to the same owners of one stable and only small crumbs to all the other stables, then owners are going to drop out, and new ones not being enticed into the game! Personally doesn’t affect me financially and nothing really does fortunately, however I am well aware of the costs of racing a horse and I can tell you now, there would be extremely small no. Of owners that get within cooee of breaking even racing horses! The stakes in general are less than what they were 20 years ago and the costs of ownership have escalated hugely. Why on earth would anyone bother to breed a horse, feed it, have it prepared for the yearling sales etc, pay commission on the sale and be lucky to even break even?????? I can tell you now that there are far easier ways of making money than taking that risk! You can admire the brilliance of the AllStars stable professionalism and success but the fact remains that they are seriously driving people, out of ownership and racing, and the fact that only 3 horses outside of the AllStars are prepared to lineup for $60k is a fact that can not be denied !!!!!
  2. Newmarket you are wrong with that statement! The horse no.s are far worse due to the AllStars domination and if you can not see that then your head is in the sand! Stake money needs to be spread around more or the industry is dust in a few years, which the TAB wouldn’t be worried about!
  3. Cobblers, always on the money! what were the numbers over the past 16 years??????? If you are saying that they have always only been getting 7 starters every year, then the race should be canned as b,atant wast of time for the club and punter!!!
  4. What a dumb thing to say! If the Dunn stab,e hadn’t taken up a team then the meetings may well have been in jeapardy! The Thing is that there are buggerall horses trained in The Marlborough district that are competitive with the Canterbury horses! The costs to take horses to Nelson From anywhere is now pretty prohibitive with most horses not being able to cover the increased costs, and the owners nowadays are now looking at things more in a business manner! The reality is that the costs to race a horse do not make it a profit making venture and only the semi wealthy are now wanting to have horses in work!
  5. Kane, you are way off with that statement! This is a forum to discuss racing and specifically harness on here! You are clearly somehow involved with the AllStars operation and congratulations with that! All I am saying and everyone that I associate with Racing wise are all well aware of the current predicament that harness racing is in with the sheer domination of your favourite stable. I will guarantee that harness is going to go further into the doldrums as far as attracting new owners and trainers into the industry and breeding no.s are going to drop. You obviously have no problem with your stable plundering all the big money races with your team, but I can tell you now that it is hugely detrimental to the continuance of harness racing in not only Canterbury but also the North Island. FFS a $60k race with only 7 horses and one stable having over half the field in it! The race will be a yawn feast as per normal! Please explain to us all how this domination can be positive for the industry? There are going to be more and more of our better horses sold overseas as they see no future in racing horses here for any profit whatsoever!!!!!!!!
  6. Globe, name a sweeping generalisation???? Brodie, says it the way it actually is! If you don’t like it then it is your prerogative, but at the end of the day “always on the money”,!
  7. Harness racing in the North Island is stuffed literally! The 60k Mile Race at Cambridge tomorrow night has only 7 starters lining up!!! If you can only attract 7 starters racing for 60k there are major issues occurring in the North Island! Bearing in mind there are 4 horses from the almighty AllStars stable lining up means there are only 3 Nort Island horses lining up! Obviously if the 4 AllStars horses weren’t lining up the race wouldn’t be even happening! Or is it that the almighty AllStars horses have scared all the other ones off and can not be bothered running for 5th at best???? Yes I think this is the reason and it is going to continue to happen continually when the bigger money is up!!! Yes I have brought this up at least once before but if you don’t think that this domination is going to permanently stuff harness racing in NZ, you have got your head in the sand!! Owners and trainers have had an absolute gutsful of the current situation and I can tell you now, that feature racing in NZ is in serious trouble over the next couple of years!! Dont bother saying that it is up to every other trainer to lift their game to compete!! Totally irrelevant as this domination is going to continue until there are not enough owners left to make racing worthwhile! ,
  8. But if the overs aren’t going to get in, then it is a lost cause Tanga!
  9. They knew before that is why I am restricted. As much as $2 e.w. Geez I must get into it!
  10. To be honest Ranga, I don’t really care what percentage they operate under! If they offered fair Fixed Odds they would get a helluva lot more money being wagered and their profits would be higher! The massive unders that they offer on many horses is just a blatant turnoff! If they are opening at a lower percentage than previously then that is great, I will now have a closer look Ranga, thanks!!
  11. Ranga, haven’t even had a look! Can not really be bothered today! Might have a crack at Nelson, if the odds are fair!! I think you will find that many punters will get the stitch!!
  12. The glasses at The Warehouse are $10 aren’t they Chief??
  13. Wasn’t trying to be facetious Freda! Don’t know about anyone else’s username but mine is the account no. Hope you can get on soon, because they may run out of customers if they continue to piss punters off!
  14. Mark MacNamara is by far the best commentator in NZ at the moment! Matt Cross does a great job as well, so Canterbury is spoilt, but then we always have with our commentators! We should have the best I suppose, as Canterbury is now clearly the Mecca for harness racing in NZ!
  15. Are you sure you are putting in the correct username??? My username is my account no!!!!
  16. Dexter will be back driving in NZ in the future! Probably after the shite is all over! As for driving 1000 winners in a season, you must be on something pretty good! 20 winners every week for 52 weeks? Retarded Driver, how many winners would Clint Ford be driving a week?
  17. What the eff? You are allowed to opt out from punting? TAB are so charitable that they want to look after the punters that are down on their luck! Aww! How about the TAB being charitable and allowing punters that want to punt being able to do that?? This new expensive Paddy Power exercise could well cost the TAB bigggggggggtime!!! This was going to be the saviour for the TAB but early signs are not that promising, and punters will vote with their feet and wallets unless things are improved!
  18. Sports betting not high on my priorities nowadays Ranga! Used to do a fair bit of punting on NRL but too damn inconsistency found that not worth the effort, but do still watch.
  19. Yes it was the info on how it ran I was after! You can get it off the HRNZ site but punters will be pissed I would say by this? Punters like to know what type of race the horse went, not just that it finished 4th of 10! The fact that when you go onto the TAB website they have all types of sports bets looking at you tells us all, where the TABs priorities lie, and it isn’t racing!!
  20. Where do you find the expanded form with commentary of how the horse went in its last 10 starts?
  21. Smoko, geez you have got a bit of age on you Ranga! Better idea is have fair odds out as early as they can, even 2 days before! Why can this not happen in NZ?
  22. This is not going that well, but then we all knew that is would not be that flash! You would’ve thought that rather than having greyhounds from Timbuktu they would have had plenty of time explaining how the damn new system works, but then again the TAB probably aren’t that sure either!
  23. And the bosses are going to be happy with their employees being on phones punt8ng while they are being paid Ranga????
  24. They don’t give a toss about harness racing! They are on,y interested in attracting people to bet on all forms of activity, as it costs them bugger all to have punters investing! Racing in NZ is stuffed!,,
  25. .is this goi g to be the norm with this amazing new Paddy Power betting platform? No previous night Fixed Odds? If it is, it is p,ain dumb as many punters will be at work and may not get the chance to invest. At least the night before the meeting, punters have an opportunity to have a go!! Absolute dickheads if this is the case and heads should roll! Seriously do they really expect punters to be punt8ng on every single bit of action happening around the world? Probably will, but harness turnover will continue to decline! Life is too short to be worrying about people in high paying jobs making poor decisions!
