  1. What do you mean fixed yield Happy? You are better off with a lower yield than a higher one most often if your turnover is better. Turn the punter off and a high yield of buggerall turnover will see the industry continue to go backwards.
  2. Yes the TAB has made it far more difficult with their methods of reducing dividends and Fixed Odds on offer as well as restrictions, I appreciate that. As Happy states though, you keep pressing on, and at the end of the day, the TAB are actually costing the industry by their methods! Will be interesting to see what this coming years financial returns to racing are!
  3. Globe, I don’t bother watching Mile Racing or investing on it. Why are the Yanks so preoccupied with Mile Racing? Geez, if that is all we had here, there would be bugger all interest in the sport. Mile, after mile after Mile! Leave most intelligent punters out of it!!!!!
  4. Let’s face it though that anything can run time over there on those tracks. Our maidens would go 1.54 no problems.
  5. Good on Lazarus winning again, owners deserve a return on their money! Lucky it wasn’t another 50metres or he was beaten. Very boring race once again though!
  6. I will second that! Not the RIU fault re the blatantly stupid whip rule in harness! It is the clown at HRNZ that brought it in, without support just because he was able to!
  7. I note Te Kawau ran 3rd in the race, Think originally trained by Stephen Doody. He was not a bad horse here but he must be very old now, so obviously Lazarus isn’t going as well as he should be. The Thing is though as I have said many times, any horse can run a mile and because of the short distance it doesn’t sort the men out from the boys, as they say. If they ran over longer distances in the USA then he would be winning. Bit of A Legend has been a legend over in the U.S.A. and he was last his used by date when he left NZ, so it just show you how Mile Racing can make good horses into great horses and vice versa.
  8. It may just be a bit of a hiccup though. The Thing is that he is a stallion and he may well have other things on his mind! The biggest problem is that if they continue to race him and he doesn’t win, all it is doing is making him not as commercial as if he was winning. If he was able to win many races over there over the pathetic mile distance then he would attract heaps of speed mares in U.S.A. If he doesn’t then I would say they would possibly send him back to NZ to be at stud where his value is huge for our breeders. Personally couldn’t understand why they sold him as I believe his value at stud in NZ was more than what they got for him. The owners choice obviously, but if I owned him I would’ve enjoyed having him in NZ and breeding and leaving winning horses here!
  9. Robert Dunn has nothing to be guilty about! He is always very forthcoming with his ideas and views just like his sons! This family is down to earth harness enthusiasts who have done plenty to keep the industry going in Nz If it wasn’t for them there are many meetings that would’ve struggled to hold many races!
  10. Happy, Brodue is quiet! Wont be having a go at Methven, as it is going to be pretty hard going with it being the first grass track meeting, so you just won’t know how fit the horses are! Good luck to everyone who is going to have a go tomorrow!
  11. You are very easily pleased then!!!!
  12. Not that soft, wife never complained anyway! Poisoned, it sure beats watching midgets riding horses on bog tracks though doesn’t it!
  13. Geez I haven’t mentioned that for a day or so!
  14. Indeed we need to keep knowledgeable harness media people rather than people who haven’t got the knowledge Maybe I am getting soft as the days tick by, but why is it that people just want to assume that everyone in harness is damn well guilty
  15. The TAB employs CraigThompson (The Whale)! I have asked the question before, and the TAB obviously haven’t got a problem with the following so why is it a problem with Greg? The Whale is a known Punter and a restricted one, from what has been disclosed! He also runs a tipping line for punters to get given the winnners! Finally the TAB employs him to give out winners to the public so that they can take money off his employer? That to me seems far more odd than someone putting a bet on for someone if that is what has occurred!!!
  16. Yes I think it was Denis o’Connell Got fined a year or two ago for backing his own horse and he was also driving it! Personally seems a odd sort of rule doesn’t it, when it shows that the driver wants to,win! If he was backing another horse in the race it might be an issue, but his own horse?
  17. Greg O’connor Is one of the good guys in harness racing media. Why would he not be allowed to place bets for someone, it is not illegal to do that! We do not know that these bets if there were bets were on races that the drivers were in! The TAB by restricting punters actions have caused punters to be treated like criminals and like they are doing something wrong legitimately wanting to place a bet! I think it is time we let these people have some space and time. We can not afford to lose intelligent likeable media people and be replaced with zombies
  18. Decided not to comment much more on this topic as I know most of the people charged to different degrees. It is disappointing if the men get found guilty to the charges and are lost to the industry as well,as the damage to the harness industry when we need to be growing the sport. The pressure on these people is absolutely huge and I do feel for them and their families at this very low point in all of their lives! Clearly their misdemeanours if they are proven will weigh on their lives forever, and they will have regrets. The media and police despite what many have stated, I believe has overstepped the market and have painted a picture of guilt for them, that now has a lot of people not involved in harness talking about it to me. The judge is totally correct in what he stated yesterday in regards the police and the media. We will all have our opinions on this but by continuing to public flog our charged harness drivers is not that flash. I will not castigate these people because I believe they need to have a fair hearing, rather than stoning them!!!!!
  19. Belle, I am impressed that you think that I have a thought process. Yes everything is well thought out before I shoot from the hip!
  20. The District Court Judge was not impressed with the Police for speaking to media prior to the accused appearing in court today. I totally agree and it should apply to the many on here that have treated the accused as guilty before they have a fair trial! Many of you have now been told off!
  21. Multiple personalities Jess. I get very confused sometimes
  22. My side of any story is always well reasoned despite some people not agreeing. You can call Brodie out anytime you like, MarkyMark, however Imwould like to see where I said that a stable Cxxxxxd. See I cant even say that word. Instead of sorting out some winners for Addington Friday night, have a look for when I said that a stable Cxxxxxd!!!!
  23. Everyone’s memory is not as good as it used to be! Brodie doesn’t lie ever! What have I lied about???? A lie is an untruth, I don’t believe I have said anything that I beleive is not true!
  24. So many positives can come out of this? You must believe in the tooth fairy!
  25. NO!!!!!
