  1. Do not. Relive I am being too hard at all! Stating fact that there was a horse 3 wide that would have given it the one one! He made a poor decision to sit parked on a fast pace and have the horse no show once again!
  2. Yeah can never understand why the North Island meetings always come up before the South Island, even if the South Island meeting is a day meeting???? Why can’t they bring up,the Fixed Odds even earlier than what they currently do, so they get even more money on! Cant be that hard can it?
  3. Think Mr Hunter is more limited! Must run in the family for driving as I gave his brother a spray I think last year lol
  4. I appreciate that there are bad drives in every race, but seriously many of our drivers need to retire themselves to the grandstands! No I didn’t have a wager but zireslly liked Bold Ruler in Race 2 at Gore after its last run which was very unlucky. Never been a major fan of Peter Hunter’s driving, and even less after today’s performance. Bold Ruler drew 2 the second row and got a good run through to be parked early. Veneto was 3 wide and going forward but instead of easing to let Veneto sit parked Mr Hunter pressed on and sat parked the whole way! He was never ever going to get the front and for some unknown reason he wanted to sit parked throughout! Yes it is very easy to drive from the stand but it was not rocket science for Mr Hunter to pull back a bit and let Veneto give him some cover! Some might defend the drive but seriously just another shocker where nothing will be said!,, Yes of course the horse didn’t place but he also wasn’t that far away considering the run it had. The horse in the trail gave up before Bold Ruler did!,, Who backed Bold a Ruler and thought that it was a shocker as well?
  5. Roman, yes you were well and truly on the money! It did go good. Matt Purvismis a young bloke that is making an impression in the training ranks! Great to see young ones coming thru because we need them!
  6. Was nil in the straight for some reason!,,,,
  7. Bushman is a former Hunter trained horse who was very one paced! However Hunter’s horses do go well on the grass for some reason! Baker Creek should win it with any sort of luck you would think?
  8. Why do you see Ford Rule as a likely winner? Was it that impressive when it qualified at Rangiora recently? Maybe the grass will suit it and it appears to be a quick beginner, but $1.45 fixed to win seems ridiculously short for it first up doesn’t it???
  9. Weak? Brodie is never weak! Read My last sentence for one!!,
  10. Some good tips being thrown out there! I do not directly tip out horses on here for, obvious reasons! The TAB certainly haven’t enetered into the festive spirit with lifted betting limits and then slashing odds significantly so that there is no value!! Newmarket, is pretty astute with his tipping in a few of the races he has mentioned.
  11. Fair enough! Was a weak amateur race though, but good luck, it might go good on the grass though!!
  12. Why?
  13. Basil do you work with Rangatira?
  14. Merry Xmas to you Globe and every single poster on Bit Of A Yarn! It has been a big year for this site starting from scratch and now the premier racing forum site. Congratulations to the Chief and Hesi. Globe, the reason you think that I post negative postings is because I tell it the way it is! Not everything is perfect in racing or with the TAB, and if these things are not pointed out then no improvements or fairness can be achieved! Holefully we all Back many winners over the holiday season, but zi can see myself getting rather bored if the Fixed Odds remain tight! All the best to all!
  15. Basil and Ranga, the reason I posted this is to get the Bookies to bring the flippen odds out!!!!!!! You two are know it alls, so why do you think it is ok for the harness odds to come out so much later than the Gallops??????
  16. I note that the TAB Bookies have already got the odds out for all 3 Gallops meetings in NZ on Boxing Day! Westport is not out yet, so wondering why the harness odds are not that out yet? Leaving it till 5.30 would be a bit of a waste of time seem people are probably doing other things on Xmas Eve! Will be interesting to see if they do bring them out earlier? Why is Harness punters treated differently to the galloping punters?

    Lightworkofit is far worse
  18. He went for a break today. He played up shockingly and is clearly over racing for now! Seriously though Trevir should put a decent driver in it when it next lines up. No point having a horse racing if it is not going to get money!
  19. Yes if Trev wasn’t on it! Should win it with any sort of drive, but you know what you get from Trevor!
  20. Bill, Trevor, Michael, Steve etc
  21. Of course Basil would not be in the betting as there would be no odds given! I would be far too short!!!
  22. Very successful at most things I do Ranga!
  23. The opening odds have continually got shorter for the favourites, to the point where there is absolutely no reason to have a go early! Why on earth they don’t encourage punters to offload as the more the turnover the more they will make! To open horses that should be paying $3 at say $2.20 defies any sort of logic as no one with any punting ability would bother! They seem to not be able to see this and it is to the TABs detriment! I was under the misapprehension that Bookies need people to bet with them ,to make money? Would be great to see the amount of money going on harness in the night before the meeting, but it appears for some unknown reason that they won’t do this!!
  24. Harewood the odds for harness are out for approx. 6 hours on the night before the race meeting!!!
  25. Wouldn’t call it ballsy! Buying money like that with big amounts will always break you! You need to continue to win just about everytime to make it worthwhile! Better to enjoy it with holidays or cars than blow it on stupid bets!!
