This Punters Lounge is meant to be designed to increase the wagering on Harness Racing apparently. What I suggest NZ TAB to do this, is to lift betting restrictions on punters! After all it is nearly Xmas time! Please advise us when the restrictions have been taken off!!

Professional punting Andrew? I am sure with extra time on your hands you would do fine, until they try to shut you down! Must admit your HRNZ tips weren’t too bad on most occasions, and I am sure things will work out fine for you as you are pretty entrepreneurial!

Extremely quiet on the investing in recent times Newmarket, as I just can’t be bothered with poor odds and restrictions, it just not worth my time although I do,have too much spare time now! If I can get decent amounts on and the odds are reasonable then I will be back in!! What I don’t like about the punters comp is the compulsion to have to wager on every single race! To my mind that is not the best way of investing but rules are rules And you have to run with them! Well done to everyone that participated and all the best to the winners when they go to Vegas, It will be a very difficult challenge punting on those damn gallopers and especially when you have no idea on how the horses run! Be a great trip though!

I think it is great that the TAB were taking all bets! Why don’t they do this all year round, rather than treating their customers like criminals ? Yes I will be in boots and all next year if they are going to allow all bets!!!!

Reality is that the current whip rule is blatantly stupid. Reality is that Jamie did give Copperhead Rose an absolute hammering with the whip and was swinging and hitting as hard as I have seen in quite awhile, and only got a warning! Reality is that many drivers have been charged and found guilty for not being as hard on their horse as Jamie was! Reality is that Copperheads Rose only won because of Jamie’s vigorous use of the whip! Reality is that the whip does make horses run faster and for longer without doubt! Without the whip horses like Gammalite and Pure Steel would not have been champions!!!! From a punting perspective I want my driver to be using the whip to a certain degree to get the best out of the horse that I have invested on! Reality is that the current rule needs amending to make it fair for everyone, and the no. of hits is not the correct answer!

Totally irrelevant as to previous transgressions! The point is that the rule is blatantly stupid! Drivers have been charged for doing a helluva lot less harm to their horse than what Jamie Keast would’ve done yesterday to Copperhead Rose! There should never have been a number attached to the whip use and yesterday is a classic example of why the rule is an ASS!!!! Rangatira, in your mind, did Copperhaead Rose get an absolute hiding from the driver and if it did, did the driver deserve to be charged? Flrget about the no. Of strikes, was the whip hits excessive in your mind????

The horse only won due to Jamie being so aggressive with the whip. Jamie Keast has never been one to be shy of using the whip. My point is that Jamie gave the horse more of a hiding than most of the drivers who have been done for excessive use of the whip or using the whip in excess of the permitted number, and only got a WARNING! The rule is an absolute ASS and needs altering back to what it was. HRNZ acknowledge you brought the stupid rule in Without much thought being given! What has happened to Oz Whip Rule? nothing they still give the horses heaps!!!

The whip rule currently is not even a joke, because it is so ridiculous!!! If everyone doesn’t agree with me then seriously you need to go to spec savers or somewhere that tests your eyes. The current rule says 10 hits with the whip any more and you get done!!! I have always said this is farcical and after race 12 today at Addington everyone including the Brodie knockers will be in my camp! Jamie Keast driving the winner Copperhead Rose got an absolute hammering with the whip that would’ve left large marks on the horse without doubt. The horse was absolutely whacked as hard as you could from a fair distance from home and of course Jamie Keast got a holiday or fined!!! NO NO NO NO NO NO he didn’t, he got a warning! Harness Racing NZ, pathetic rule, yes pathetic that should never have been brought in at all!!!! Harness Racing NZ admit that you have stuffed up big time and remedy your STUFF UP ASAP!!!!!!!

Of course hitting a horse males it go faster. You would have to be pretty naive to think that it didn’t! If a dominatrix was hitting Rangatira with a whip would Rangatira run away from her? Probably not as he would be into that type of shite!

Not sure where u get that from Spend plenty each and every year and certainly no moths to be found except when the outside doors are left open at night! Yes several holidays coming up next year and no wouldn’t be buying any yearlings as it is a waste of time!

You stated that The Fixer was disadvantaged at the start, I am telling you that it was also favoured with a driver that clearly cheated by hitting the horse too many times and breached the rules!!!

The thing is though that The Fixer’s driver breached the whip rule and gained an advantage over the horses that didn’t have a driver that breached the rules. The horse should’ve been at least relegated behind Tiger Tara. The whip rule remains an absolute joke that should never have been brought in!!!!

I note that the winning driver of the NZ Cup today cheated by hitting the winning horse more times than permitted. She has been suspended as well as a $2,500 fine!!! This is certainly not the first time this repeat offender has been found guilty in races. The horse gained an advantage over the other horses and so should’ve been an enquire, and Tiger Tara promoted! This is not a good look for harness racing and I doubt that many would think that it is a fair rule, the way it is at the moment!!

Is it a STANDING start or a WALK UP start??? Make up their minds!! The second start most were actually on the move when the tape went, some advantaged and some not!!! Absolute lottery and it shouldn’t be!!!!!!!!!!

Reality is that after today there will be many owners looking to sell their horses overseas as they won’t see a future in ever being able to win a big race. Yes there are some huge supporters of The AllStars stable on BOAY and of course the Darkside. Brodie tells it the way it is as I can take the heat from them. Of course they do a magnificent job for their owners, but most horses are not trained by The AllStars stables. I am telling you now, this domination of filling all the places in the big races and therefore plundering the major stake money, is going to be heavily detrimental to the harness industry in the next few years. Agree with me or not, don’t care, but Brodie is always on the money and will be once again!
