  1. Correction, it was Charlie hunter that trained him in the north
  2. Time flys...your right, jack carmichael seemed old when i was young too....Jenner was a great trotter, I think john Langdon trained him in the north, you knew it was a good race when you had Jenner, cal brydon, stormy morn and thriller dee in a trot up north. Rip jack Carmichael.
  3. Yes hunter you will have a great day there, its making me thirsty thinking about it!!
  4. What is really noticeable is the lack of depth in the 4yo pacers and to some degree the 3yo pacers
  5. Plenty of amateur national hunt races in the u.k with bookmaker betting, obviously a market for it or they would be non tote....the label is there to see for all those foolish enough to bet on those races!!!
  6. Quite right kakama, trotting especially at Alex park is so predictable now.
  7. Pegasus kommader spoils the party!! You bring up a good point re team driving though happy, I think the adding of passing lanes encourages team driving especially with bigger stables ...and why wouldn't you use that tactic if its there on a plate for you! Personally I think the racing wouldn't be as boring as it is now if they got rid of the passing lane, leaders hardly cop the pressure they used to...and the value of holding on to the lead so you don't get boxed in has gone. Just a procession nowadays.... I doubt Rasmussen would have given up to lead on Elle Mac on Friday night to m.p if there had been no passing lane... even though in the end it made no difference the Aussie filly clearly superior.....
  8. Very sad news, I didn't realise he was 80, time flies
  9. Good for you globe, would be good to see the spoils shared around
  10. I went to the last Cambridge one also, it was a great day, but drove home that evening as no accommodation Cambridge or Hamilton, took my then 5yo daughter, she loves the trots but was not impressed with all the driving!!
  11. Hope you got $4.20ff price happy?
  12. Was that 1981? Good memories of going to the tab with my dad to put my 2+2 $4 double on a Saturday, only picked names back then never studied form....wish I had stuck to that format!!!!
  13. Some great memories there mk2 couple of my favs merman, tono bungay, prince trelay and despa
  14. I always had my suspicions about him???
  15. That's not bad stats for colleen negus, bit of a lottery those amateur races
  16. Great start happy
  17. Yes I saw he had another pop at you hunter, Scooby should be thanking him for the migration of most of the regular posters on the trot section from r.c to boay, definitely a much happier place here.
  18. Yes always a good place chance with his great standing start manners. A few in that race with a chance.
  19. Lots of value today for sure....I'm torn between lucky Luciano and take after me in race 5, although take after me has only won 3 of 90 I don't think he's met a field much weaker and he's sure to lead then trail.
  20. Sometimes its nice just to have one sheet of news paper that you can circle your choices, don't have to flick through endless pages of best bets etc. I normally do my study on inet and transfer them to the paper for easy reference....
  21. Ahh you've fallen into the trap Mr cave....welcome
  22. No not this year, went to Cambridge last time, it was great, good atmosphere, great track to see everything. Nice to see those Aussies coming over
  23. My kind of horse Richie thanks.
  24. Ahh so is that where its future lies hunter, in the u.s?
  25. Would be nice to get to the point where we can hold on to some of the more promising horses with better stakes money in auckland.
