  1. Cheers, went to Nathan on John's advice
  2. Race 6 , unbelievable
  3. Race 5 Oamaru could not win with 600 to run, unbelievable how he can judge pace.
  4. Hard call Chief, watched a replay of the race with tim and john , John's comment was when tim pulled the plugs and got to work on the horse it sat down. Problem i have is the stipes keep bringing up the word perception, it's very rare anyone gets convicted on perception in the real world.
  5. R2 shards in Manhattan 1000 at 2.10 Run in four R6 sods law 1000 at 2.20 run in four R7 franco niven 1000 at 1.50 run in four
  6. Unfortunately after talking to a few senior drivers today Ross is on a hiding to nothing, there are a few reasons why Ross steered back to the inside safety and horse welfare again Unfortunately don't get recognized. Punter perception seems to be the overriding factor in stipes decisions. The case is not going ahead today so Ross can have a lay person there as is his rite.
  7. Probably unfair of me to just say watch his previous starts, the horse has alot of issues they have ironed out one in having a bone chip removed but there is another issue which makes him a very hard drive , Ross and his farrier have been working on him for a while now . I'm not going to go any further until his case is done with but he's one horse I wouldn't judge Ross's driving ability on.
  8. I'm not going to go into details until the case has been heard, but I can tell you there is alot more to that drive thats meets the eye. The horse has had and still has a few issues, replay a few of his previous race's and watch his actions. Pays not to judge someone like Ross until you know the background, personally I would be very disappointed if he received any sort of penalty.
  9. Jagara 3.50 Sods law 4.20 Woodstone 2.30 All to run in three
  10. 30 free bet on Thursday for me use by Sunday night, better half deposit 150 and get 70 , must be family piss poor punters.
  11. The rules or whatever you want to call them means you have to pay out 100% percent of stakes over the season, some meetings like the cup or green mile day will require stake top ups from other days but over the season you will find stakes have increased at Methven.
  12. Unhinged was at the table but only representing Westview, at this stage i can't disclose any of their ideas ,confidential at their request. It's vital we change and it's good HRNZ are starting to engage with it's stake holder's. Why are we racing Spellbound in Australia, absolutely from the advice from our trainers. Which was one more win before she departed and we would have no option to race her as a 78 rated horse against open class horses not only that she would be racing the boys. All her races to date in Australia have been Filly's and Mare's, 4 win's ,2nd and 3rd to date and over sixty thousand why wouldn't we. We turned down 200,000 for her recently and she will be coming home when she isn't competitive to breed from.
  13. As a syndicater we allow 2500 per month, on average over a year that figure isn't to far off the mark. That includes everything including travel which can add up rapidly if you are chasing age group race's. Anything not used does get paid back to syndicate members. As for racing over shorter distances that's exactly what we are now breeding with our American speed sires. The average number of starts for our horses is just over ten times a year, bit of a shame we haven't got many tracks designed for mile racing.
  14. Took the 2.40 for amazing dream to run in first four bugga
  15. Mikayla said she blew a bit and the trip to Brisbane might have knocked her a bit, hoping for a good draw next week
  16. We will need all sorts of luck tonight, Spellbound is in great nick and as ready as she could be, the draw is against us but it's only a bad draw after the event. 8.10 trackside 1
  17. I was lucky enough to be on right channel they canceled one race and went early
  18. Really pleased for Nathan, Mikayla and our driver Ash.Great advise from Johnny to send her to them.
  19. Going to be harder to box us in
  20. Hope your right,Nathan is very happy with her but did say she will improve with the run, did say the same when first up.
  21. Seriously thought we would be second favorite
  22. Its just the time of the year, ready to race numbers have dropped off a bit, but I must say the quality of the horses spelling or on the way back up has improved alot over the last few years.
  23. I reckon big syndicates will be the savior of our good racing stock. We recently sent Spellbound to race in Australia and have had alot of success, now a big offer has come in from the states. When I put it to the syndicate, mostly 1- 10% shares the money really didn't come in to the discussion, the most important factor was they may never get a horse as good again and the average age of the owners would be over fifty hence 2000 dollars won't change there life.
  24. Very much doubt that half the horse's you mentioned will be driven for luck but it sure looks like they will need some, game on i say.
