  1. The New Zealand Champion Racehorse of the Year is awarded to the Thoroughbred horse who is voted to be the best racehorse within a New Zealand racing season. This award is open to all racehorses racing within New Zealand, regardless of age and sex. Overseas performances are now included.
  2. hey Chief...are you gilding the Bostonian lily here? Since when could a 'neck, neck'' margin be described as 'dominant' ??
  3. If the run last weekend by Princess Posh was not an utter fluke she would have to be a great value chance at the weights
  4. Not denying that Queensland in the winter was on the radar..but to imply that he was not 'ready' for Melody Belle et al in the past summer is ridiculous...look at his time in the Telegraph (a tick over 1:07). Based on head-to-head history and each having a decent trip, MB would beat TB in the Stradbroke
  5. You can't convince me that Bostonian was 'being prepared for Aussie targets' when he lined up in the Railway and the Telegraph and the BCD Sprint in the summer. He was being prepared to win those races!
  6. Let's look at how the two contenders did (especially against each other) this season in Noo Zilllan' Bostonian 1st in the Counties Bowl fresh up over 1100m on a Slow track in November. Beats subsequent Railway winner and runner-up Santa Monica (2nd), Princes Kereru (5th). Melody Belle not in the race. Bostonian 7th in the Railway - Melody Belle 3rd, topweight, narrowly behind lightweights Santa Monica (1st) and Princess Kereru (2nd). Bostonian 5th in 1:07:30 in a very fast Telegraph (Enzo's Lad 1:06:95), when Melody Belle inexplicably runs 16th. Bostonian 2nd btn a head by Melody Belle (1st) and conceding 2kg to her, with Ardrossan 3rd in the BCD Gr 1 sprint over 1400m, WFA at Te Rapa. Bostonian 5th btn by Melody Belle (1st), Wyndspelle, Consensus and More Wonder in Gr 1 Haunui Farm Classic, 1600m WFA In summary, Melody Belle beat Bostonian three out of four times in NZ this season, over 1200m, 1400m and 1600m. She beat him right-handed and left-handed, conceding weight to him and getting weight from him. The only time he beat her was in the Telegraph (he 5th; she 16th). How would Melody Belle go against him in Queensland ?? We'll never know, I guess, but chances are she's a tad better than him on any given day.
  7. Not wishing to rain on Ollie and the Owners' parade, butI hope he had already weighed in ... and although right of entry to the MC is guaranteed, it's 5 months away and a lot of water to pass under the bridge before the field is known
  8. I'd be reluctant to back Felaar if track is seriously rain-affected. Apparently Ok at present but may be heavy by end of afternoon if predicted rain arrives. Felaar has handled Slow tracks in NZ ok, but I'd be waiting til later to make call on backing him ...he may drift from current 46-1 odds anyway as race nears
  9. I think you have made your point, Thomass, and it's a good point...Now, be nice to all the other BOAYERS, please, and refrain from constantly repeating yourself repeating yourself
  10. hmm that's 80,000 x $100 bills ...is there anything bigger in Oz? If there is I ain't seen it. That's a stack 29ft (?) high of $100 bills ...big wallet...
  11. he may have been sniffed out, but not snuffed out until proven guilty
  12. Pukekohe today Race 7 #9 Lowprofile Tavistock mare, fresh up from a decent spell. Broke maidens at just her 4th start (Ruakaka, early Jan) then spelled after a 7th of 7 at Avondale 18 days later. Won a 935m Open trial narrowly in early May (finishing just ahead of Cyber Attack) ... Has a 3kg claim today from Ashvin Goindasamy, who rode her in the trial. FF $9 and $3 ..each way for me ...could win, but may get the stitch in the last 50m or so...certainly one to follow over the next few months, as she strikes me as a progressive mare with a 'turn of foot'
  13. yep..where is she now?
  14. Thomass ..if it was totally avoidable - and demonstrably so - why have you not raised the subject with the SPCA?
  15. i am on several of Israel's lists but I'm clever enough to ignore all zealots, who think they've got all the answers ..and that includes most political leaders from Trump to Taxinda.
  16. excellent acronym for: Did No Flockin'good
  17. Far too many words, Thomass,...seven will suffice. Expensive show pony, heading for knackers yard.
  18. Wasnt Mr Higgins the one who copped a big holiday last winter for overuse of the whip? Grand National?
  19. Just had another look at Tai Ho's win in the Steeplechase yesterday...he gave that horse about 10 decent hits with the whip between the 800 and 200 (having taken the lead prior to the 800m mark)...and a few more after the last when the race was not quite his ... am I wrong in thinking he lost his irons upon landing after the fence before the final straight? He is certainly kicking for all he's worth and his feet are all over the place! Great horsemanship?
  20. not sure what your gripe with TT is motivated by, Billy, but her career will only b e 'over' when she decides...there wouldn't be many jocks - maybe none - older than her who have got a Group 1 victory on their CV this year.
  21. According to our $50M+ TAB website, there are three results from Singapore Races last night...the ones that started before Friday night (our time) turned into Saturday morning! Were the rest abandoned? No information to say so...Are the results showing on Saturday's Results page? No (unless I am a blind Mustelid). Did the races happen? Yes, but you need to go to Singapore Turf Club website to see the details. NICE ONE, TAB ....
  22. getting on is the problem .. as for start time, 'm sure you're right ..took my info from Dr Google Date: Sat, 18 May • 10:30 am GMT-4 (Sun, 19 May • 2:30 am NZST)
  23. Sunday morning our time 2:30am for the 2nd leg of the Triple Crown and a time-honoured race of global renown. NOT according to the NZ TAB new-fandangled $50M+ website.... No field, no market uo and we're less than 30 hours from 'post time'... Am I missing something here?Oh you can see fields for 5 races from Pimlico tomorrow morning, though. Get it sorted, TAB..or I will be another flocking off to Betfair/Bet365/BetEasy Betanywherebuthere
  24. thanks Thomass...he did the right thing by going to the front, no pulling that way! and the 3kg made the difference. This horse beat Princess Kereru home in a R75 at Ellerslie a year or so ago, so is better than its current rating would suggest. We cleaned up!
