  1. This thread began as a simple question posted asking about why Danielle J is absent from the NZ riding scene at present. Thomas supplid the answer in a prompt and pleasant way..and I thanked him accordingly. Since then the thread has descended into a smutty pathetic series of posts that force me to disassociate myself from them. I am no prude, but I do think you, Thomas, should have a think sometimes before posting your nonsense. It does nothing for this website's reputation as a racing forum and makes me wonder about your mental health. It's OK to ask for help.
  2. good point Porky...as I recall the KiwI doc may have overstated Diane's role as the 'pioneer' at the expense of Linda Jones ...but it's fair to say Diane was one of the most successful female jockeys of her time. I wonder how long she would have kept the ride if she had not been injured.
  3. SALE R1 No 11 Tavirun I know nothin a out its trackwork or reputation..not trialled. Debuts from wide draw over 1206m at Sale tomorrow for Busuttin/Young with senior rider (D Thornton) aboard... Last Saturday the stable produced a late 2yo by Tavistock to win on debut (Murless) This one is a half brother to Allez Eagle, fast enough to run 2nd in a Railway here. What chance the debuant in a 2yo maiden at Sale? I'm willing to put $5 ew just in case ,.
  4. appreciated tks … and who could blame them for escaping NZ racing at this time of year for soaking wet Croatia and pompous Royal Ass Kit, I say wot old chap??
  5. Forgive my ignorance but... where is Danielle Johnson? A) Holiday b) Overseas riding assignment c) Suspended d) Injured e) Retired f) none of the above
  6. saw the TV tonite loved the show.... not overly or 'over the top' ,authentic recreation of the era..., well acted...hit the right notes and I felt great empathy for Diane Moseley! well done to all involved
  7. Suggestion for you, barryb...go whole hog and come back as CatWoman
  8. Here's the bet details, just to illustrate that the 43% in Turny's case is very very high (in our case 13% by defection of a well-regarded contender the day before) Saturday’s multi for $60 · Qji Express (Top 3 @ $1.45 ) into · Tomelilla (Win at $3.80) into · Ambitious Winner (Win at $3.80). To return; $1256.40 - bet made Friday morning. The actual return was significantly less than that...I don't have the exact figure but am told it returned about $1080. Why? There were only two scratchings in the three races, TAB's reply (in part) yes it was Ritzy Sparkle scratching which resulted in a 13% deduction. The bet was placed at 08:52 on the 1 May and Ritzy Sparkle was scratched at 08:58 am on the 1 June. Had your bet been placed 10 minutes later the market price would have been adjusted.
  9. This sounds very familiar to my ears... a three race multi that had a relatively high %age deduction ...TAb explanation is that 10 minutes after the best was placed, a scratching was advised and they reframed the market!
  10. Fury's Order was among the first horses who fired my imagination and got me hooked on racing...Triton was another..both CD horses and great lookers! Have always wanted to own a chestnut with a long white blaze and four white socks!
  11. good luck, Pete I note there have been one or two winners by Super Easy in the last week or two..a good sign!
  12. Reported by NZ Racing Desk this morning Subject: Andrew Campbell, trainer, winning yesterday with Padraig, ending a "horror run" over the last year. "The Cambridge trainer has endured a frustrating year with a virus affecting the majority of his runners." Q: Did punters have this information at any time before yesterday? Q: Are there any rules requiring trainers to report such circumstances, as and when they occur, to NZTR? Q: If there are rules, where is such information accessible to followers of the industry, including (but not only) punters?
  13. speaking purely thru my wallet, I think St Andrew's Masonic copped another slowly-run race..why Johnson didn't just ensure it was a more solid tempo is beyond me..horse stays better than most but not auited by sit-sprint tactics ..and that's about the third time!
  14. St Andrews Masonic (Riccarton) Adriatic Pearl (Tauranga)
  15. just want to add my congrats to barryb...astounding tipping today from the parade ring at Te Awamutu. Well done indeed!
  16. top work again barryb
  17. for your sake, I hope you at least got a winner one the last leg(over) ...
  18. 2 for 2 ..the means on fire!
  19. brilliant tip on Dalmar barryb ...perhaps BOAY can contract you to be our Jayne Ivil tipster from the yard....
  20. if I have any concern about Ruakaka today it is a query over the Dead 5 not being upgraded at all. No rain, lovely weather throughout. I don't think the track favoured leaders or locals ...Tavezbac won R2 from well off the speed and wide; likewise Hi Flyer and Kyrie Eleison Great training effort from Chris Gibbs and team, and top run from Major Tom in the last.
  21. anyone notice hi flyers time today...1 09 44 on a Dead 5... fair enuf under a big weight but that sort of time would win at Ellerslie on a Good 3
  22. we're you saying that after the first three races? 3 of first 7 races won by non locals...
  23. very well said, Ashoka. Will they let Justify race as a 4yo though? As is often the case, these champs get retired to stud very early!
  24. Secretariat ran his only classy rival Sham into the ground with relentless speed and pressure in a head-to-head duel for 6F. Justify's rivals either couldn't match his cruising speed and/or weren't allowed to get to him cos Restoring Hope did a great job! Jusitfy prob could have run fatser - but not much - and both Secretariat and American Pharoah would've beaten hum easily (imo) ..the beauty of it all is that Justify only had to beat the best around at the time ..and only Gronkowski got near him after missing the start. Secretariat's sectionals below: Secretariat ran the first quarter mile in 23 3/5, the half mile in 46 1/5, five furlongs in 58 1/5, six furlongs in 1:09 4/5, a mile in 1:34 1/5, nine furlongs in 1:46 1/5 (tying the world record for a 9f race, and there is still 3f to go), a mile and a quarter in 1:59 (faster than his Kentucky Derby time; unheard of), 11 furlongs in 2:11 1/5 (3 seconds faster than Man O' War's 11f Belmont time) and, finally, the mile and a half in 2:24 flat. Interesting link below shows times comparison Secretariat v American Pharoah (whose time was approx 1.5 secs faster than Justify (2:28:18) https://www.businessinsider.com.au/american-pharoah-secretariat-belmont-video-2015-6?r=US&IR=T
  25. Greetings all ...I have it on good authority that Ruakaka is in top nick for Saturday, Dead 5 posted as of this morning; only a skittery shower or two in the last 24hrs and none predicted til Sunday. Could be a Dead 4 at the weekend ...word is they will split a maiden 1400m race (over 40 noms) into two races and have 10 on the card in total.
