  1. Fair enough, each to their own. I am not sure the drop back system helps too much, I see no point in some runners going around for the hell of it. 20 years ago we had great fields, from C1 to OC, those that didn’t make the grade got sold or retired, or maybe end in a can☹️ But maybe they need to concentrate on the better horses, increase stakes for good horses which will make it likely they stay in NZ. Need to keep people excited with NZ harness, sir castleton vrs basil Dean, Royden Glenn vrs preux chav, hands down vrs delightful lady etc, etc. The game is getting stale, and these midweek meetings don’t get too many excited.
  2. That’s a silly question Chief? If your leading a race and starting to fade the inside line of horses will get carried back by tiring runner. What do you think should happen, shunt parked and 3 wide runners wider so trailing horses get a run before passing lane? Needs to be more action taken on this, it’s a sham that needs sorted.
  3. I see Mickey Mouse on his crazy FB post saying he is getting out of Harness to concentrate on Gallops?? i am surprised he has lasted this long trying to win races with his plodding team, I for one think it dumbs down races. 20 years ago we never had so many crap races, what good comes out of it. Poor old owners paying top dollar each month on training bills, hardly any pay their way. i usually avoid betting on races that his team are in, run hot and cold far too often, and hard to read the race. Good luck Micky, but I think you will find it just as hard training 50 start maiden gallopers.
  4. You could look at races each week where this sort of thing happens. i am always amazed at the obvious ones, when the leader is battling and comes of rail to let stablemate or a cuzzie bro a clear run. Stipes never pull them up. Sadly, unless the money is up, the main players in the Canterbury Area are all mates, they allow Dunn & Orange to dictate a slow pace without challenges, for the obvious results. We have the most boring Harness Racing in Australasia in Canterbury, unless of course, the big money is up, then not surprisingly you see the tight racing.
  5. Sad, very sad
  6. Come On TAB, On live racing, you have the numbers down the bottom telling us first 3 places during race. What’s happening, whoever is doing it at present must be blind, they are always wrong, then when they past the post, more numbers pop up with divs, sadly mostly they are wrong too? WTF

      • Haha
  7. Back Dance Till Dawn next start. Obviously just out for a run today, settled last, stayed.
  8. Three Sixty another one to watch. Masa has been totally unlucky last 2 starts, I feel sad for the owners. If it was my nag that would be Masas last ride on horse. One to watch, this thread is all about horses to watch.
  9. He won last race, luckily I backed up😳😆
  10. Thought this horse was a good bet today, took into account the riders lack of ability when sorting odds. Sadly, didn’t expect a ride like that, what a muppet. Hey Pitty, anychance you can post on here once a better rider hops on and I will get back my dough. Good news is, horse looks pretty good.
  11. More like mince dinner tonite, another $2 shot finishes out of the first 4 at Addington😆😆
  12. Hope nobody’s offloading on the Purdon runners tonite. Remember the golden rule, only punt them when the big moneys up, then they can race 3 wide the trip and still win. Otherwise, when no moneys up they race like tonite.
  13. Wow, this guy must be the unluckiest driver ever on the Purdon Red Hot Favs!! Bollinger galloped hopelessly as fav twice, now Franco mac got beaten??
  14. Wonder why they are giving up? David did well training, he did get into a bit of trouble early on with his crops🤭
  15. Wow, what a response!! Mind you Aquaman, You probably assume I don’t like dogs, or even want your beloved greyhound sport to continue. That’s not the case, sadly the greyhound brigade only have themselves to blame if the sport is banned. Probably hot heads like you that have not helped over the years, the sport has been run by arrogant clowns in a pathetic circus for years. So, do I want dog racing banned, I couldn’t care one way or the other, never bet on them. Do I think dogs should be allowed to race meetings, no.
  16. You may be right
  17. John Dunn is not my most favourite driver, one reason why is the fact that many horses he drives are well punted on, far shorter than they should be. No doubting his ability, he is a top class driver. i have been following a horse called Cast A Shadow. Has been going great races lately paying big money, last 2 starts driver gave it no show, frustrating as a punter. John Dunn driving today, only paying $10. Had to have a good go even though I thought odds a little skinny, it was a superb drive from start to finish by Dunn and it cruised home.
  18. Sad to see this horse put down today, won some great races with a big future ahead. Poor jockey also breaking her leg, really feel sorry for the trainer.
  19. My main point was it got attacked twice yet still won. I know it’s a pretty handy stayer, but didn’t think it could still win. Shows calibre of the also runs, open class fields are shit nowadays. Good to see driver staying in front, if that was in sth island, nobody would have attacked
  20. Wow, got attacked twice yet still fought back. Nothing in his past few starts suggested he could do that. For the sake of punters, hope it gets tested.
  21. Thank god Unhinged, somebody with a brain. Signs everywhere stating who can and can’t enter the stabling area, didn’t see…anyone with a mutt is welcome. I like dogs, but from a H&S aspect why would you allow dogs in the stabling area, some horses and trainers may not want dogs around.
  22. 5 x I counted in stabling area, 3 in picture. Not every stable has a dog, I thought dogs on course was against the rules?
  23. I am at Reefton today. Seen many dogs on track, now I have just seen 5 in the stabling area??? What are the rules on that?
  24. Yes it was bad. Not as obvious as Gav not trying to hard to win an earlier race, and the stipes didn’t even look into it 😳
  25. Too be honest, I have no issue with drivers engaging in a speed duel. It happens all the time in Aus, makes racing more exciting. Happens little in the Sth Island as too many drivers are mates, bros, cousins etc, so they let whoever they want to dictate the races.
