hesi
There was some reasonable stake money left on offer, for NZ anyway, 140K over 5 races
Newmarket
Once again, some races had been completed before being called off? This happens all the time. Do they not try a horse on a track before first race if they have any doubts? Seems like they send jockeys around until one slips or falls? Not good enough

hesi
Does anyone have confidence that the sand issue at Te Rapa has been rectified, and therefore that is also called off after R1

Mark D
A thorough and extensive explanation from the NZTR Meeting News Otaki-Maori RC Abandoned Otaki Meeting Abandoned Due to two horses slipping around the 800m point during Race 3 the Otaki meeting has been abandoned. There is no plan, at this point, to reschedule the meeting. Edited October 21, 2018 by Mark D
Chief Stipe
Otaki hasn't been right since they first did that work quite a few years ago.
nomates
What ever happens going forward regardless of whether that is following the Massara bible or another avenue the first thing that needs to be done is the recruitment of a world class track specialist , someone with a proven track record , pay them what they want , probably still won't be close to John Allen's salary . At present the person in charge of tracks is continuing to following a well worn path of failure . If nothing changes , nothing changes . 1

The only solutions the current mob has is to put in more drainage and sand slitting.
nomates
CS , first started going to Otaki 40+ years ago , for many decades i would hear trainers saying the Otaki surface was regarded as the best surface in NZ , if not Australasia . nomates
CS , the drainage and sand slitting and watering management plan are not the solutions , they are the problems , but they are in complete denial that they are getting anything wrong . A substantially long list of successive cock ups but still no one at head office has thought why not try something different it couldn't be any worse .The term MOB suits this lot down to the ground because professionals their not . von Smallhaussen
once again they have been irrigating on top of a 'hardpan' - do they not understand that if you DO NOT irrigate the grassroots will go deeper into the ground looking for moisture? If the grassroots go deeper into the ground, the ground is held together better and provides a decent racing surface. for my consultants fee just deposit the equivalent of John Allen's salary for 1 month into my bank account ?

Why is it only the TAB cop the backlash for this? Don't NZTR run the race meetings and have the relationship with the club, they would have to be one of the most dissapointing organisations anywhere in racing across the globe.
