Aimee, everyone on here knows my name it's not a secret, and as I said it is just my opinion, I have defended Tim's driving plenty of times in the past,  ....people have plenty to say about other drivers/poor drives on the trotting section on here, but I only see you jumping up and down when Tim is mentioned!  Are some people too sacred to be criticized?.........

Cheers

Des

I’m loyal to all of my family and will defend them  like I said I’m tims harshest judge, he did everything within the rules to win the race that’s all he can do

Fair enough, I'm loyal to my family too, but you have to understand  any high profile drivers or trainers that are in the public domain are going to be criticized now and again especially with the amount of $$ they carry .....same as politicians get held to account by tax payers.........?

I didn’t see a post from anyone when the horse galloped the start before?? I would say what he did the other night was a massive improvement

When the All-Stars have 3 or 4 or 5 horses in a race, what people tend to forget is that only one of them wins...the rest did not.

Personally, I don't think Smooth Deal is the best 2-year-old anyway. It got beaten on its merits the other night.

I would blame (which I am not) the horse rather the driver. Especially considering there was nothing wrong with the drive at all.

The original post wasn't just about smooth deal, I think Tim drives better when not on an all stars horse ..a poignant post below from earlier in the year, which seems to happen all the time

Personally think that Tim Williams is a driver that alway spits his horse in the race.

Yes, like every driver, he has had some poor drives, but he in my humble opinion one of the better aggressive drivers that we have.

His record of driving Group winners for the AllStars I believe is pretty useful and if Mark and Nat didn’t rate him, then he wouldn’t be driving for them.

He has improved remarkably from when he was driving down in Southland many years ago.

Tim is always available for the media and I beleive that should he choose to train at some stage, he will be very successful, having worked for the AllStars Stable and being intelligent.

I can only imagine the roasting Tim would be getting tonight if he was getting rolled on the hotpots like the Boss. On a side note great to see John Dunn not afraid to take on the All Stars on a Premier night, makes for some great viewing!

He did get rolled again in the 5th only me his best drive of the night, another $1.55 fav! However, I can't believe it was paying so little as he made hard work of winning his first start against much worse opposition and taking on hardened horses another step up.

Williams is talented, but he is like most  drivers, positive driving gets positive results, negative driving gets negative results. Williiams drive on the just run race 2 at winton was  a case of negative driving snuffing out any chance his horse had of placing. No ones perfect I suppose.

I've noticed S McNally going through one of those negative patches at the moment. I never quite understand how good drivers can drive so negatively some times. you see it a lot where out of form drivers would rather sit 5 back the fence than face the breeze half way through a race. Its obviously all a mindset they get into.

Having just viewed the replay, P reactor clearly beaten for speed by the other three, ottley had a very brief chance to come off the fence but she hesitated and didn't take the opportunity ..game over!, from then on never a chance, it finished on ok......if I had backed I would probably not be happy ?

Hot favorite again today  but driven like they didn't rate it much chance again.

Goes back ,seemed fair enough, but stays there when pace slackens, hits a wheel by the looks of it when she pulls it out at the 1000m and stumbles, then  runs up the inside without being asked for an effort  thereafter as no point .

I'm not sure about this horse,if it was any good why does it get driven like it needs everything to go its way. It did go good in its first run.

That stable just always seems to be a next time stable, and next time never comes

The johnny cox stable would have to be the most improved stable seen for a while . The whole team has improved a lot in the last 3 weeks and is well worth following at the moment.

I with you galah, the drive on it not positive at all, it's looking a bit exposed now, probably romp home next time it's paying $6-7!

Another Tim Williams special on Copperfield in the first, yes he drew inside the back row but he never made any attempt to get off the fence, and on a 1.5 shot it was a horrid watch, not talking through my pocket either as I don’t like him as a driver and wouldn’t back him,  but a Mark or Natalie wouldn’t have driven the standout in the race for luck like Tim did....JMO
