Had to check it wasn't April 1st

This from Sundays meeting at Addington from our RIU

POCKET CALL - when questioned regarding the performance driver R Close advised the gelding had raced lethargically throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer M Purvis advised he would have the horse examined in the coming days and undertook to notify the findings to Stewards.

This horse has had 59 starts in the last 3 years for ONE placing.

Last 4 starts 15th/field of 15   9th/11  10th/12 12th/13

Last won a race 18th July 2019

Runs it's best race in 14 starts running 8th in a field of 10 and they "question the performance"  It's nearly a career best performance !!!!!

I would have thought they had more important things to worry about.

You are correct!

Although the horse has been previously trained by an Amateur trainer, it has shown nothing for years.

There was a lot of money go on it by the look of it for last Sunday’s race.

Yes it won a trial at Rangiora, but it was flat out to win that against a couple of poor horses!

Personally wouldve had to grow a couple of legs to be competitive in that race as it has absolutely very little speed or toughness.

There should never have been any questions asked about Pocket Call’s performance as it is not a racing proposition in NZ.

Because the good ones all end up racing in Oz , and leave behind these sort of horses for you to enjoy.

I'll put up a thread to show the feature this coming Saturday in a moment . Familiar names for the kiwis in that.

So your saying you don't think informing the betting public of a trainers thoughts is a good thing. Is that it?

Maybe it wasn't necessary. But when a horse comes in for significant enough betting support to result in it ending up 2nd favorite, despite having abysmal form, then why isn't it interesting to know the trainers thoughts post race?

Theres plenty of things you could point to in stipes reports that deserves highlighting,e.g. consistency in action taken in different regions. But it seems not,all we get is a topic like this.
