  1. No, at least four more years, I think
  2. Because we base there for the circuit!!! Is that the answer you want to here. Or could it be that it is hugely popular with the public and always has good on and off course turnovers. Actually it has three starting points, but don't let the truth get in your way.
  3. Owners are always welcomed and invited in for refreshments as they were today There is a coffee vending machine permanently in the room at a cost of $2 per Cup not your Queen St Latte type but still used and appreciated
  4. No industry background You obviously don't know me. Do you mean no formal training. Free tea and coffee were available in trainers hut as it is everyday. I think globally every day act locally always!!
  5. Whilst the trials were held on a very well presented course proper horses were despatched from the training tie up stalls. This was due to prior booking of facilities in the members stand area. I don't, nor did my owners who attended, have a problem with this. Far better to run trials on the best track in the area rather than not - just because you can't get a feed or drink. I went Couplands and bought savouries, sandwiches, donuts and drinks for my staff, it wasn't a drama. Trials videos with commentaries were available on the NZTR site within 15 minutes of each trials being run. A yep doesn't describe how well the trials were accepted and run. Thanks Jim Langan, Tim Mills and CJC you have our stables and our owners thanks and appreciation.
  6. They do a fair amount of testing out of competition, but I guess they only test the major races.
  7. The useless ones are those that constantly criticise behind computer screens and when given the chance to be involved and make a difference do nothing and tell pork pies!!
  8. I'm the same they've rung me three times I asked the bloke if he knew who he was talking to, never heard of me. That's who they employ now from bottom rung to top brass they have no idea and even less interest in their customers. That's why people bet off shore, had a winner today 16 in to 8's here 30-1 in Aus apparently!!
  9. NEWMARKET Thats where I am you sick so and so. I think if Felaar is set for the NZ Cup by Steve Marsh he wins it. As for your comment re donkey fields in the South Island you obviously don't know much about NZ racing. We very rarely race outside Feature or Premier days and there are more donkey fields in the North, there must be there's a hell of a lot more race days. Besides I think if you can figure out how to read premiership stats the stake earnings of our horses show that supposed (by you) "donkey fields" can be very rewarding FYI
  10. I presume there's very little difference in paying for the horse to go to UK or back to NZ or If the horse performs like Blue Point did last year it gives credibility to HK international races The arrangements to go to UK were in place prior to HK (confirmed day before) and I gave the people from Ascot the opportunity to withdraw but they want us to proceed so we are My mistake re capitals didn't realise that was how it was sent
  11. ITS A STRAIGHT RUN HE DOESNT NEED TO CHANGE LEG HE HAS NO NEED TO GO AROUND A CORNER
  12. FYI The cost of flying to UK IS BEING met by HKJC who paid for horse owners, trainers and stable staff air fares and accommodation in HK Ascot is giving us travel incentive greater than a Listed Stakes win at home All owners get Royal enclosure tickets all 5 days of racing, on the days he races 18 th and 22nd they get their own catered corporate box All connections get invited to the various garden, boot, barbecues associated with this massively popular week of historical racing where royalty from far and wide gather for one week of Group one racing that shapes world racing trends Im going to enjoy this!!! So will the owners at v little cost if any, the races we are to contest are all run in straight line up an incline. He is not required to go around a corner as he has at Ellerslie or HK. His record at Riccarton and Trentham gives us enough confidence to have a go, especially with Ascot inviting (paying) us to go there We are currently in Qatar on way to UK both horse and trainer traveling well, out in paddock later today
  13. Hi guys I'm supposed to be flying to HK this arvo but my flight has been delayed. I had a look at the TAB sight it's a disgrace no wonder our turnovers are dropping third world stuff. So this is what happened I rang the tab waited 14 minutes and got a "team leader" told him who I was - he had never heard of me - don't want people taking this wrong but really- this is what is wrong a team leader. Do that not have to have some knowledge I thought stuff this so I rang John Allen and to his credit he answered me He to was surprised and disappointed that a "team leader" had so little knowledge He did explain they are aware of the issues and have people working on it
  14. Correct they are not shutting / closing down racing clubs only not giving licenses to race at certain venues- there is a difference
  15. It referred to his comments that his mount responded well with use of the persuader
  16. Tell them to go to bureau I sent them a map of the South Island a few years back, probably got filed
  17. I don't completely disagree with this but yesterdays fall had more to do with a horse stopping like a shot unit than an apprentice "poking into places they shouldn't"
  18. A similar thing at Gore hardly a thing said
  19. That was at Kumara the year they ran 2 meetings
  20. I am inclined to agree IMO the Reefton track should stay and have two days racing. It is the best track on the Coast by far and has been for a very long time.
  21. Any chance of a Honda at Reefton
  22. Yes Pam I know who you are referring to!!
  23. Why would you rotate them it doesn't work for those rotating now
  24. What a load of fertilizer F1 by Friday Riccarton is the best firm track in NZ and so it should be, big circuit, irrigation, sand splitting, carpeting. Way better when left to nature and not listening to a few moaners. This track has been great when not over irrigated. The moaners and groaners come out every cup week and leading in to it but the surface is always better when firm as is the competitive racing. Turn your wet trackers out and wait for the Coast as you normally do, race for stakes of $10k to $15k if the meetings go ahead
  25. Greymouth deserves to go Committee has always thought they were above everybody else with one exception JJ O'Donnell. Floods too often suspect track every other year Kumara can't possibly be the best track absolutely no infrastructure for horses or people and not worth spending money on Hokitika do try hard but track is probably worth more than all the other clubs put together locality, locality That leaves Reefton both town and track have good accomodation for human and equine possibly could become circuit with Blenheim For mine Reefton should stay and other clubs should support them
