  1. I see , well best of luck to them both with that.
  2. Hang so youre saying you'd compare two runners in the same race last start performances at different tracks based on time i.e. if one ran last start at Trentham and the other at Tauranga as an example and this strategy works for you on the punt?
  3. Thomass are you that silly that you compare times from different tracks?
  4. Yes one must try to be, but I've never seen the sport heading in the direction it is now. It used to be a sport that involved everyone including communities etc however now its heading in the complete opposite direction. I've only 2 more to go and I'm pulling the plug also , I fear many may feel the same way.
  5. I'm stunned so many in the industry believe BS is fixing it. Well perhaps not stunned after years in this industry perhaps I meant numbed.
  6. Some are too stupid to see it,there wont be racing in 75% of the places there are now in 3-5 years, wont make it any better though, sit back & watch.
  7. A good start would be to get the radio back on, but hey they have a model in mind and thats where its gonna end up, don't stress over it as it'll never get fixed if you like, there just aren't the right people in the right places and the pandering to the chosen few is only hastening the decline.
  8. Bernard has no idea full stop. Thats a very real problem with which our industry will live with the ramifications of for years to come.
  9. You can do all of that stuff when the industry revolves around you! I see an article where the twilights are popular,FFS if you cant get people to go to a piss up at this time of year something is wrong, expecting 6k to turn up in a city of 1.5m & celebrating it like its a win for the sport, when in reality the result has less meaning than country meetings robbed of their dates from an industry perspective,we have such low standards in NZ.
  10. and prioritising the racehorse including its welfare on raceday , the viewing of racing for the public and facilities for the horse. Not currently undertaken at many courses in NZ unfortunately, particularly the larger ones.
  11. Those running the industry will take the road of which they believe there to be least resistance, I think we all know what that is. However that does appear to be a shitfest in itself , so one can only hope they are found out for the charlatans they are. The industry can be saved , but those in positions of power are not willing to deliver a reality check to the industry and that changes needed would not please a lot of the bigger players. But either way the game has "honey I shrunk the industry" written all over it in some format.
  12. I loved this : we believe we have been very patient as the industry has worked through a period of change and the disruption caused by Covid-19 and the ensuing lockdown period, As CS has pointed they are already getting their percentages out of the starters fee now also, in some cases that's a $30 increase A bit rich given the state of the industry imo , not to mention the state of the jockey ranks! https://loveracing.nz/News/31839/Ridingfeeincreasesflagged.aspx
  13. I think the real point here is that we are going nowhere with the current leadership at NZTR. The sport is in a sad way.
  14. So in the meantime Riccarton is H&S exempt? You must work for NZTR!
  15. And one that's transparent and fair, which would mean some of the big clubs also would not have a future, that's the problem I have with it, continuing to race at a big club just because they send someone to NZTR meetings once a month is not necessarily a reason to keep that club open, their futures also need to be assessed.
  16. Why shouldn't there be, these multiple race meeting clubs have full time staff no excuses!
  17. LMAO, how people like you justify your opinions on a bunch of boozers turning up for race day 2 times a year, they wouldn't know a horse was running let give a toss about having a bet. If you think that's the magic cure for the future of nz racing then you're in for a helluva a surprise!
  18. Contract has also been extended hasn't it?
  19. Because they do not have a fundamental understanding of how the sport really operates, what they see at Ellerslie & Riccarton during carnivals is how they think it is.
  20. I hear it is well underway.
  21. So your solution is to kick everyone who doesn't train at Cambridge, Riccarton ,Awapuni or Pukekohe to the kerb? Reducing venues will not sustain or increase horse numbers, if that was the case why are country/picnic venues still a huge part of Aus racing? Please don't tell me you think like NZTR, in that the horses trained elsewhere will just magically turn up at these venues they are favouring, it won't happen. At any rate the demise has begun in haste and a once great industry will soon only be a shadow of its former self.

Let us know when you see one or if you do.
  23. Agree with you JB, they don't care an iota about the industry , they happy pleasing a handful of participants, thats all that will be left once they are finished with it.
  24. Why not let owners and trainers be the judge of whether or not they want to support those race meetings? Without the product they won't survive for long, the smaller meetings play a huge role in growing interest in the sport, giving the youth their first taste , continuing local interest , giving the game its character, providing future staff to the industry etc. Everything being done at the moment will destroy that, NZTR haven't got a clue and they don't really care about the future of the sport in NZ, but they can put a strategy on a PowerPoint Presentation and pretend its gonna save the industry. Many have said it before , but you can't keep selling the family jewels and keep going.
  25. Exactly set them KPI's , but also hold the big clubs to account with more significant Performance Indicators given they operate on full time staff , the best dates available, unbridled support from NZTR the list goes on.
