WTF Was that a reply!!! Note to self: Never ask Brodie to explain himself when he has obviously got other things on his mind!

Now you never tell porkies Brodie soN what is the vague term you have used, "somewhat connection" refer to. You cannot go and make these accusations without substantiating what you say otherwise it verges on libel.

Didnt know there was a beach at Rangiora. Maybe the earthquakes have moved Rangiora.

The horse had been a maiden for 30 starts and probable been in the trail more times than Ive had breakfasts and NEVER ran past a horse before. Always battled or plugged or stopped. So now a C1 and shows a sprint to pass the four horses infront of it at the turn. I would call that a big turnaround on its racing history and well done to the team to get it to find a sprint albeit a slow one when required.
-
Well where did that sprint come from?. 30 starts for previous trainer and had never shown a sprint. Theres some marvelous stuff happennning on the beaches Woodend way. Might go and run down that way myself and see if I can regain my former bounce. Well done to the Kerr/Anderson team.

Late scratchings- Why don’t they show % deductions?
Harewood replied to Brodie's topic in Trotting Chat
My apologies Brodie After looking up the rules you are correct . The % is known at the time of scratching and can be worked out by the following rule. Yes maybe the % should be put up beside the scratched horse however it gets a bit more complicated when their are other late scratchings Perhaps this is why . FINAL FIELD DEDUCTION FORMULA The nearest whole number percentage, using Swiss Rounding, obtained by dividing 80 by the product of the number of RBPs multiplied by the Odds for the Race Entrant at the time it was Scratched from a Race, provided the Odds are less than or equal to Maximum Deduction Odds = 80/(RBPs x Odds) (Rounded to nearest whole number). Maximum Deduction Odds shall be $35.00 Example: Where a Race Entrant paying $5.00 to Win and $1.33 for a place (3 RBPs)is Scratched, the Return on successful Final Field Win Bets placed prior to that Scratching will be subject to a deduction of 16% (80/(1x5)). Successful Final Field Place Bets will be subject to a deduction of 20% (80/(3x1.33)). In the event that there are two or more Scratchings, Final Field Deductions on bets placed before those Scratchings shall be calculated by applying all Final Field Deductions. Bets placed after any Scratching shall be calculated by applying the Final Field Deduction for subsequent Scratchings only. We all learn so hope this helps next time so the shock is not so great -
Late scratchings- Why don’t they show % deductions?
Harewood replied to Brodie's topic in Trotting Chat
No its not for the earlier reasons given The % is tagged to money on each horse to the overall amount bet AT CLOSING TIME If a horse is outsider right up to before the race and suddenly becomes fav and is late scratched then the % of loss would also change to a much higher amount. Also how do you work out a % of a horse scratched earlier(aday or whatever ) when you dont know the number you are dividing into untill closing time. Just a case of logical mathmatics -
Your a walking almanac of trotting knowledge ?

Late scratchings- Why don’t they show % deductions?
Harewood replied to Brodie's topic in Trotting Chat
The % cannot be shown untill after the race closes and the weight of money on each horse is known. That must be obvious surely. In Aus you are told the % of your reduction so I would think it would be available in NZ . But as the % is not known until after the race does it really matter. You know you are going to get less so just be pissed off there was a late s go collect and find the next winner How do the odds drop unbeknown to you. Everyone knows if there is a late s the odds will drop some degree If its an early scratching the tab will reset their odds so just put more on at the new odds if you're worried about getting less. If its a very late late s then too bad Thats just the way it is according to the regulations -
Late scratchings- Why don’t they show % deductions?
Harewood replied to Brodie's topic in Trotting Chat
Dont quite understand how it matters. You know if you have a FO bet on and there is a late scratching you will get a reduced payout if your horse collects. The reduction depents on the weght of money on the scratching. The more favoured the bigger the reduction . You know you are going to collect less than on your ticket, we have all been there. How does knowing the exact amount less you collect make any difference except to dampen the dissapointment. Often late scratchings are either just pre start or after the race If you want to know just look up the % reduction before you collect. ,l would say just be happy your collecting unlike most who have bet on the race -
Yes there was a Canasta King and after doing a bit of research I think that was the one I was referring to. Well remembered Happy It had 39 starts for 3 wins and 6 placings and won at Adds on 21 october 1987 with JC on board as a 3yr old. Unfortunately no vid or divs

The Gillards, being Glen and Ian who I presume is his father, have bred and trained horses for many years. They have had dozens of horses mostly with the Vale as a suffex or Canasta as a prefix. Mostly they were honest battlers and I cannot remember one being as exciting as SkyVale. Good on them for being rewarded for what looks like a very good horse and I hope they hold on to it and get some great rewards for the years of hard work. I remember backing Canasta Star? at Adds some 30 yrs ago driven by J Curtin' Looped the field at the 800 and won by at least 6 lengths paying around 25s Great to see some of the smaller stables getting potentially good horses they have bred themselves

2/5 in the betting so someone had a good go and thought it would go well Not stable money as they are not big bettors
