Relax everyone - we've got this! New TAB NZ CEO.
nomates replied to Reefton's topic in Galloping Chat
Yet again none of us instilled with confidence . To be honest it's gonna take someone a bit special to turn things around for us and i haven't seen anyone like that for a long time . There wouldn't be a big time CEO of any business that gives me much faith that they do anything but add up their salaries . -
Retro active as ever .

And this is the real fear , that cracks were painted over when giving him an overview of the industry's position . I mean the people who have grown roots staying stationary whilst trying to convince everybody that things are swell aren't exactly going to give him the cold hard truth of the job ahead . -

Ah ! but they still have most of the management team that have made so many smart decisions over the transition period , and look at them now bounding along . -

As a customer i will be looking forward to my phone call asking what i think the TAB has to offer to make me a happier customer and therefor spend more money with them . Never going to happen . ( I need to keep a template for this sentence because i use it so often ) . -
Levante - World Record for 1200m in the 2022 Telegraph

Well you have seen me post many times about how much i hate this , especially when a poor ride has contributed to the horse being beaten . i yell at the TV for them to stop hitting the poor animal . Most of the younger brigade of riders coming thru over the last few years have a very narrow view of race riding and tactics IMO , seem to follow a prescribed plan of what they think should be done in any given position at any given time of the race . You see very few try anything different in a race to try and win . I have said many times you watch most of the riders , seniors included here , in a race waiting for someone else to move before they do and most of the time it costs them the race , especially the ones that wait for the leaders to sprint before they ask their mount for an effort , all too late . Same with whip use , they just think it has to be used to show that they know what they are doing . And the boys are much worse than the girls . Homogenized race riding . -

The whip is an unknown quantity , perhaps if he had hit as much as legally allowed the horse might have gotten beaten a neck , every horse reacts differently and jockeys all use the whip differently . Why does one jockey get more from a horse when he uses the whip , OPB and Parkes for 2 get their horses to lift in tight finish more than others i have noticed . At the end of the day there has to be a line and jockeys have to ride within it . I watched the Bonecrusher/Waverley Star Cox plate the other day and by geez the last 200 the whips never stopped , never be allowed today , i did wince as i watched . The good old days , when giving your kids a clip was legal . I know my mum never used a feather duster . -

The interesting point for me was that he struck her 7 times before the 100 , yet it was inside the 100 that the 2nd horse really looked to more likely win the race and Levante fought back to win it , with Elliot riding within the rules . I think he hit that often before the 100 because he knew he had gone tooooo early and knew it and shit himself . Elliot doesn't ride big races well , more often than not makes poor decisions , IMO cost poor old mumsie plenty with her good horse . -

What i am saying is , and you didn't answer that question , if interference had occurred inside the last 150mtrs would she have lost the race , if yes because the rules of racing had been broken then as i posed , if the rider has broken the rules to win , even if he was carrying a feather duster , then why can one broken rule cause a change and not another . And someone somewhere will eventually take action over this , one of the mares value rocketed after yesterdays race and the other mares value increased reasonably , now if you owned the 2nd horse and that outcome of the race came because of a broken rule of racing , would you honestly not feel aggrieved , you could be out of pocket hundreds of thousands of dollars , just on the sale of the mare , and possibly a lot more from potential sale of progeny . Now i am just posing a question , i can see both sides , but the rules are there for a reason , FAIRNESS . And someone can sue Petone if their horse lost a race because of the jockey indiscretion , but they haven't got a leg to stand on , the jockey broke the rules . Now if they wanted to sue someone , sue the jockey , he's the one that cost you the race . Everyone goes into a race knowing the rules . As i said just posing the question , myself i can see it happening eventually . p.s. perhaps the rule breaker needs to get a fine and suspension that makes them think a lot more than twice about breaking that particular rule i.e. 6 months and 50k . -
Mikey , for the good of your mental health you need to let Senz go , find Coast and listen to all the great music of our youth .

I do know and i will be watching some , golf isn't it ?
-
Now i know it is bullshit spin , Des has never worked a day in his life . It might be old but at some stage 4 of them were co-opted . At least now we know why the WRC has been getting crapped on with dates .
-
Mikey , re read what i said yesterday . And yes things are pretty fucked , because most of the time the product is crap , and yes most have just turned off . Time you found another lame dog to pat .

Yet another big race won by foul means , just a matter of time until someone challenges these decisions . If Levante had interfered with the 2nd horse and only won by a nose would she have held onto the race ? -
4 of the committee co-opted on , suggests there isn't a great appetite amongst members to get onto the committee . Only heard of 2/3 of them . It pretty much sounds like most committees thru out the country .

I don't think it is because they don't care , they aren't trackside radio , they are a commercial business , they produce the racing the TAB will pay them to . The TAB obviously thought they could fob the industry off with a patchwork racing coverage but have soon found out that their amatuer effort has been in vain . How much did they waste in punters club money , friggen farce .

Heard a rumour today that Race have sold another piece of redundant land at Trentham to a housing developer , the grassed area in front of the public stand .

Probably clicked early before they jumped , because he wasn't sure , he couldn't see the horses for all the bloody houses they have build down the shute . -
It's because they have found out nobody's bloody listening , only you and you don't bet . Let it die a peaceful death , you might feel better .

Great race , rapt for Levante to finally get a big one , has been undone by some poor rides and nearly again by Elliot going far too early , showed great heart to fight back , really put her neck out . -
I agree , have said that numerous times , my point being they are set on Awapuni and an A/W , but Trentham is a white elephant now , as much as i love the place , but if you are going to try and keep CD strong and not get swallowed up then compete with the Auckland cartel , do the same . There is millions involved . Otaki isn't too small , plus has a great aspect , but they need to have the training elsewhere , Levin ready made and plenty of space . My preferred option is still sell the lot and rebuild north of Foxton , will never happen , hearts aren't big enough .
-
They just showed a wide shot of the public stand and grass area , barely 100 people , did they even advertise the meeting ?
-
Got 3 1/2 acres Joe , you can pick your spot .
