  1. We just missed Huey , bad luck .
  2. Gooonnee , $4.1 million , well done to the owners .
  3. I have to be honest i got a bit of a surprise when i seen it , they don't normally get going quite this early in Victoria , some of the ones they rate will be waiting for the black type races to start with . Plus 120k .
  4. The man has not produced 1 positive initiative that has progressed NZ gallops , he's has simply followed what has been in place for many years without ever looking to introduce meaningful change for the better .
  5. I see a half sister to Entriviere won at the Foxton trials yesterday , by Burgandy , won well , a bit green but i liked the way she put her neck out and was really putting in , action suggests a better track will help , one to follow .
  6. It's all smoke and mirrors , lot's of reasons so no one can nail them on any one thing .
  7. On a more positive note , the first of the 2yo's step out at Flemington today R2 , love this time of the season .
  8. When has good old fashioned logic and common sense come into they're thinking . There is no rationale to justify it .
  9. Why are they trying to appease the lower grade jumpers , maybe trying to make sure they hang around for next years renewal of the mighty GN Steeplechase . I would suggest they lose more on a jumping race than they do on any flat race .
  10. So that is it , no more Great Northerns , or Pakuranga Hunt cups . Oh so sad , not just an icon of NZ jumping/racing but an icon of international racing/sport . Fuck it why not move the Auckland Cup as well along with the Railway and Derby , WTF has history got to do with . They had not better try and keep calling it them the Great Northerns , there will be nothing great about them , the Pakuranga Hunt cup that ran on Sunday was just another steeplechase . These clueless classless bunch of fuckers are dragging this sport/industry into the sewer . There is only one thing we can wager on and that is that things are getting worse faster than we thought . The thing that saddens me the most is all the young people in the industry that never got to see our great sport at its best and in all it's glory , i feel privileged to have seen a large portion of it and partake in some small way .
  11. Haha no pressure , i'm going to frazzle my brain doing this . I'm doing this on the basis of , i have confidence that i will get a ride that gives my money a chance 7/8 x out of 10 . Over and above everybody else O P Bosson , by a margin , best thing he does is makes a decision quickly in a race and follows thru , on any horse . J Riddell . S Phelan , on any jumper . L Allpress . H Schofer . J Parkes . In the SI it is a pig in a poke . K Williams , clearly . T Comignaghi , when she has her head switched on as last Saturday .
  12. The " Old Bayer " had become the Levin classic by the time it had been moved , they were told move it or lose it , as smaller race courses weren't going to be holding G1's any more , so they let it go and got the shite race as a replacement . But the race had for many years become a shadow of it's former glory and hadn't had a true G1 quality field in many years , i suggested telling them to FO and keep the race at Otaki as a lower group race but to no avail , which why we now have a piss poor charade of a G1 . On top of that the OMRC got to keep the Haunui Classic there so it was all bullshit just to pinch the race to Trentham . That Bayer day was one of the best days of racing you could go to , a true iconic raceday , completely Fuckin ruined now , go figure . But they know what they are doing . YEAH RIGHT !
  13. I seen Waddell had moved over there and watched some of her rides and she had improved but i don't see a metro rider , used to ride a couple of my horses at Levin when she was starting out , nice kid . Unfortunately the standard of mentoring here is average , from what i've seen here some apprentice's are not much better at the end of their time than when they started . Kate Cowan started off great then had a bad fall , never looked quite the same after .
  14. That was the pure rhetoric that i implied . It is bullshit PR fluff . None of that is going to right the listing ship .
  15. Exactly , like i said the Rotorua Cup was just a R84 handicap and they want to keep it a heritage race . Give it 10 years there could be heritage races for R65's .
  16. The list of 3yo black type races in particular is ridiculous , we're just handing out free candy . Plus they are looking adding some races to the lists , i would suggest their criteria needs to be updated urgently .
  17. The word potential worries me , how many breeders on that sub committee ?
  18. This race was run this year with a R84 horse at the top of the handicap , the winner was a R70 horse called Suliman , aged 8/9 yo , got a 5 point ratings increase . This is just stealing Black type for the breeder , and good luck to them , but really it's a farce , i see stronger midweek stayers races run in Melbourne . This is the type of black type race that is a farce . One of many that should be gone .
  19. Well we are building the right type of tracks .
  20. They say she won a premiership , but geez plenty of average riders have , usually the ones that travel and ride the most pickup the premiership now .
  21. I will put down in order where i think each sits in real terms of the strength of NZ form , i'm sure there will be disagreement , but just MHO. G3 G2 ? Listed G1 , but on shaky ground . G2 ? G3 Listed ? G3 Listed Listed The ? means i'm not even sure they should rank that highly . Below this list there is a raft of light weight 2/3yo listed races that should not carry black type , i.e. Ryder Stakes , Castletown Stakes , a couple of late season 2yo races at Ellerslie , the O'Leary Stakes , The Wanganui Gns , the gns races in the lower SI . There are plenty of others . I believe we need to lose about 1/2 of our black type races at present , not saying forever but we need to get our racing significantly stronger before we can genuinely hold our black type form up to the world .
  22. This is exactly what the big breeders want , soft black type , and boy do we have the softest black type going . There was a time when we used to scoff at Asian group form , which one would you recognise as the stronger now . That says it all for me .
  23. Any one of us or the collective could have written this article , we know the issues , we know we need change , but the powers seem unable to activate serious change , they are hanging their hats on the A/W's but as we have already seen they aren't going to be the panacea that this ailing industry needs . The one thing i keep banging on about is the need for a plan , in fact plans , a short , a medium and a long term plan , but hey seem completely incapable of achieving even a short term vision of where they are trying to go . As the article says and what we all seen when they produced their usual goal achieving spiel , it's all rhetoric . We have seen no significant changes to our industry that gives anyone any confidence that we are tracking up , we need changes in all racing departments . But the stakes situation shows just how far out of touch they are with the problems . Every successful sport is built on a solid base and as the article states we have the cone upside down . And as i have said forever , until the power brokers on the ground , the trainers , owners and breeders show some balls and start standing up to be heard then the spiral will continue . All i want is a " PLAN " something we can look at and say , yep this can work if we get stuck in together , until they put something realistic that industry participants are part of constructing , and can feel invested in then nothing changes ................................ Except salaries at head office .
  24. Unfortunately in NZ she is not alone .
  25. Another thought , why have you not been paroled yet ?
