Well it's 'team driving ' as soon as you say to another driver , "I'll let you lead and no-one else, as long as you keep the lead once I give it to you". When you draw low alley, with a fast beginner from the mobile. Doesn't have to be a stable-mate at all even. (a VERY common example in Oz that happens every race meeting) Just work as a team to obtain the best run , and therefore the best result , for your horses. Happens ALL the time. Did that many times as No point 'Not knowing 'what others are gunna do early ? your chances are SEVERELY COMPROMISED if you go out there with 'No idea' what others are doing tactically. Make your own team !! and WIN i say lol........ Yes , Breaches can and should be punished. from the leading stable, Trista Dixon got a year DQ for 'Moving to one side" to let husband Grant win here in Brisbane a while back. Would they do that in Nz ? or ring Inca to have a look?
-
Nothing for stipes to see.......... The person who has 'less chance' of winning is the one 'Not in the team or stable. Multiple stable-mates can generally help each other get a 'Better run' than what they would normally, against rival stables. The last Auckland Cup is a very fine example , where a stable got COPY THAT into a position where he could only run third. was team driving at it's best, and every team member had a definite chance of taking the win. COPY THAT ? not so much. BETTOR TWIST last night had many working against her, but the 'many' were ALL giving their horses 'Every chance to Win' still. You can be picky who you hand the lead up too, who you cart up, who you push out , etc etc Your chances INCREASE of getting a better placing. .........Stipes are happy enough. everyone gets a 'chance to win' (just like AKLD Cup) Bettor Twist race last night a Very Fine example of this. Breeders Crown 3 year old fillies final. Two of Emma Stewart trained runners were up front making sure Bettor Twist didn't 'take over' the lead , BUT still gave their horses a lead and trail (therefore they had every hope of winning) BUT all along knowing the pace they set would suit stable-mates at the back that drew 12 and 13 alleys. They did indeed run 1st and 2nd from the back, and your PICK , the blowing fav , was left to 'hang' in the deathseat. Perfect race plan applied and victory gained. Impressive work by all.
-
Of the highest quality mate , tip top notch lol. (the Allstars, Dunns and Telfers and McCarthy'sNSW ) have perfected the 'model') The application results are incredible. Nz and Oz. Think Mark did away with 'Hope for the best Luck in the running' theory years ago ? lol.... now others are getting in on the 'action' often as well (with a few in a race) and collecting the rewards. All Fair in Love and War (and race) Is very impressive considering the fast times they are running too.
-
Sorry Chief. Not Even the tough BETTOR TWIST can't handle a massive Team Gang-Up against her , but a solid 3rd indeed. LADIES in RED winning easily , from Stable-mate JOANNA after they had to come from the back too, from draws 12 and 13. with Hunter's Pick Beach Music setting exactly the pace they needed. Perfect execution . great plan paying off again. A fantastic race , with many budding 'Amazing Dream's in it I think. Great bunch of 3 year old fillies.

The cost of the unpoisoned on the TAB’s profit??
Gammalite replied to Brodie's topic in Covid-19 and Racing
Queensland is getting on with it now. Now have passed 80% vaccinated target a week or 2 ago. Even thrown masks away this month, thank goodness. NZ a little behind in releasing the restrictions. But it will come. Hang in there. Think Melbourne had the 'World Record' for days in Lockdown of over 250 days all -up. that does sound depressing. Wife today is going for usual normal annual 'Flu' shot , as has been cases of seasonal flu in Brisbane. Flu vaccines been around donkey years. Her dad been getting them decades and still in his own house with his little dog , aged 94. Flu Vaccines been around a LONG time, nothing New at all. (had my 2nd Pfizer last week) and still alive today, on my birthday. so might make another year now I guess. LIFES A BEACH unless there is a BETTOR TWIST to it? lol. -
Hope you are right (esp if you have investment on her) . I was hoping for Number 1 LIFES A BEACH to emerge from the 'ruck' late and snatch a Big race win. Only because BETTOR TWIST has 6 Big wins already, and would be great for someone else to share the spoils that hasn't got a Big Plum race yet. BETTOR TWIST very convincing last week in the semi however, with a 54 second last 1/2. and great driver on too.
-
Well good to see the NZ fillies didn't get the 'Visitors Draw' for the Finals. Right in the thick of it now .... At 10-1 odds LIFE"S A BEACH drawn 1 is going to camp right on Beach Music's back , and get sucked up towards the Win late hopefully. That would be excellent for all the NZ connections. The $2 favourite BETTOR TWIST (NZ 6 time Group 1 winner) may have to deal with the 'Big Guns' of Emma Stewart , that will be coming around the field from second row Mid-race you would think. Always a chance with having 5 stable-mates engaged, the Plan will be for 'Beach Music' to hold out NZer 'Bettor Twist' (Anthony Butt) for the lead, at ALL Costs. Then just let one of her illustrious stable-mates take over , when they come calling. An excellent Plan.

Well you said he would win easy and he did. I retract my thread Headline here, as Mark wasn't resigned to Defeat at all. He placed the horse OscarB to Win . Mark Purdon , being the living racing legend that he is, Knew what SUNDEES SON could do (break 4.00mins for the 2 miles ) And off the front too !!!!! ????? Purdon put his horse somewhere where it wasn't gunna get 'bruised' and 'Hurt ' like all those behind SUNDEES SON (Nz record holder and Champion of the trotting World) just did, in his race. confidence shattered. Well done Mark ! (again) and Well done John ! (again) just brilliant horse driving and winning . I'm stunned.
-
Yeah , I guess I was being a bit Harsh on them . (OscarB and Mark) Afterall, SUNDEES SON and MUSCLE MOUNTAIN didn't start in the Group 1 that Oscar Bonavena Won last Tuesday. and COPY THAT not starting in Pacers FFA either. so guess some of the good ones can 'skip' Big races if they want too. Gammalite 'never' skipped a big race lol..... nor did these three Champions below (handicapped in Australasian Trotters Championship at Moonee Valley 1981) and a NZ FIRST 4 , still came off !!! great stuff. The DOMINION Handicap winner of 1981, STORMY MORN beating the 2 previous years Trotters Interdominion winners !! Stormy Morn trotted 4.20 to win the DOMINION that year (4.25 in Rowe Cup too) So would of been beaten about 200m by SUNDEES SON in his wins in those races . lol...... Sundee is unbelievable !! Name Prizemoney Hcp Driver Margin 1 STORMY MORN $21,000 20 J O'SULLIVAN 2 NO RESPONSE $4,500 25 R J Brosnan 3 HANO DIRECT $3,000 25 D J TOWNLEY 4 KATE'S RETURN $1,500 FT J A CARMICHAEL 5 SPECIAL DOLLAR $0 FT A SIMONS 6 PROUD STELLA $0 FT W B CLARKE 7 ROYAL NANDINA $0 FT R G FORD 8 THIRD SPOT $0 FT T E DEMMLER 9 CHRISTIAN LESLIE $0 FT C L WELSH 10 JODIE ARMAGH $0 FT N G REDWOOD 11 REGULATION $0 FT B R GATH 0 EL CORDOBIES $0 FT P J Caldow

don't ya just love em' !! . Weight didn't scare them off either. VE with 57kg haul And the Diva 58kg the 3rd time round. and with track conditions VE running 3.17.5 odd and Makybe Diva 3.19 odd for the 2 miles . pretty quick too. Too close to call? your match race...... Super performances all round. Maybe in honour of some of those great 2 mile mares ,(Empire Rose and Ethereal too) the mare MOIRAS TOWN can take out the Nz Cup at 3200m this week-end ?
-
Well you can talk about Champions of the 'Past' and who had the better' 'life' and more comfy 'woodchips' to lie in, for a racehorse. Sure a 'tough racing life" for Show Gate doing whatever it did but No MC, Phar Lap (up and down the sand-dunes), Kiwi (up and around the hills of Snowy's farm), All had a tough run/life compared to luxury pampering vets , scientist created diets , and worlds best Trainers like Mr Waller, these days. BUT, it still stands the great mare VERRY ELLEEGANT has this great record below, not to mention her brilliant Cox Plate 3rd placing the other day. Dare I say it , might of given illustrious stable-mate WINX a fright in some races. Those past Melbourne Cup winners wouldn't know what way she went. Major wins Ethereal Stakes (2018) Phar Lap Stakes (2019) Vinery Stud Stakes (2019) Australian Oaks (2019) Hill Stakes (2019) Tancred Stakes (2020) Winx Stakes (2020) Turnbull Stakes (2020) Caulfield Cup (2020) Chipping Norton Stakes (2021) Ranvet Stakes (2021) George Main Stakes (2021) Melbourne Cup (2021) Awards Australian Racehorse of the Year (2020/21) Australian Champion Stayer (2020/21) Australian Champion Middle Distance Racehorse (2020/21)

I was beginning to think it had been scratched there Used to be a great Song when I was a kid driving horses.... it went like this (there may be some old boys that know this tune) She'll be coming round the 'Mountain' when she comes, she'll be coming round the 'mountain' when she comes........ She'll be driving six white horses when she comes , she'll be driving six white horses when she comes. ......... You could add in ......... Johnny Dunn will be driving the Sundees Son when he wins, he'll be driving Sundees Son when he wins , He'll be leaving behind the 'mountain', leaving behind the 'mountain' , leaving behind the 'mountain' when he Wins ... and this could be JohnD with about the same 'Horse-power' that SUNDEES SON has on his own. 6 in one.
-
OscarB is in a 2600m race off 20m so by the time he trucks on around them , might as well of been 2 miles (nearly) Sorry to harp on about handicaps. It's just a leveller. Sundees Son can trot 4.00mins incredible speed . even 10m would of given a chance for others. Would of said Majestic Man more a miler ( bit like Oscar B) than 2 miler , but he still placed last year in Dominion. Melbourne Cup , they chucked more weight on Incentivise (and Verry Elleegant) as a leveller for their impressive race records. Handicap's designed to give all a chance. I think it works mostly. They still got to be first two home in Cup anyway with class. As SUNDEES SON might still get up off 10 or 20 m handicap anyway, especially if trots 4:00 for the 2 miles again. John Dunn smiling all the way to the bank, today, right through to the race when lines up 3 off the front. The SON will be shining.
-
Well he (Blair) is certainly the man of the moment I spose, and can enjoy his 2nd NZ Cup in past three years. good luck to him. Now that is one horse that is really never getting the reward it deserves running against Copy That, Diamonds CullenPurdon and SCA all the time. big in race he went in jewels , etc. I really hope they consider INTERDOMINION next month as a target, He could handle the 'Heats" and the 'distance' of the GRAND final. the 2 hot fav's (McCarthy Pair of KingofSwing and Expensive Ego are on their home track for Interdom) They are vulnerable at long distance ,as Amazing Dream showed putting them away in Brisbane in Winter. LAVER would be a good tough Nzer like a ALTA ORLANDO or TRIPLE EIGHT (2nd in Vic Cup over distance at his last start) type of horse Who Could Win It .
-
How backwards it's getting?? when a massive Group 1 winner from Tuesday this week (OSCAR BONAVENA) is entered off 20m in a 25k trot this Friday, Race 7. While the $300,000 Dominion Trot , biggest equal Group 1 (with Rowe Cup) Trot of the year is on the same program Race 9 . That's just hilarious really. As I have been saying , the race 'should' be a Handicap (as it was for decades) SUNDEES SON should be off 30m after winning last 2 Rowe Cup's (also gifts off the front for some reason when used to be a handicap) and Sundees Son also easily winning last years Dominion in 4:00.5 record time. Mark and Hayden know they can't beat that , with SUNDEES SON drawn at No 3 off the front this Friday . so not even bothering.............. resigned to defeat. A group 1 last start winner? lol . too scared of a Group 1 . crazy things in the world these days.
-
A fantastic Assessment here and agree 99.8% with these great 6 Points you made, except for 2 words. I would change the very first two words you used from "Blair Orange ' to the accurate one of 'Mark Purdon 'or 'Nat Rasmussen' lol....... However , when those 2 x multi Interdominion, any Cups going, Miracle Mile (and everything from Ruakaka to Perth to 550m saucer QLD tracks and everything in between ) winning drivers RETIRE >>>>>>>>> we could sub your two B.O words back in again to use for active SI drivers still.

I am Always been an ALLstars and a Purdon/Cullen and' Natalie driving 'fan Mr Galah . You know that . How can you improve on the best ??. Never doubted them FOR A SECOND. you are the 'one' saying something is different today ? I'm saying they always go well ! you can't win all the time . Gammalite only won once every 2 starts. (90 wins from 180 odd ) Chief and i are saying you are seeing 'something' again we can't as easily. 'SMART WATCH' for you today very suiting ?
-
You seemed cranky about the 'improvement' .lol..... perhaps I read it wrong. my fault. anyway That trotter 'Jeannie' did very well indeed. KRUG seemed to improve a few lengths today too lol. more mickey mouse? hahahaha Sorry about STORM i selected for you. yeah had a chance getting towed up three wide last lap . But the 'DIAMONDS' ruled in that race (race 9) and had great designs on that winner improving 8m at least today .
-
He looked a world beater in his previous run. NO i'm 'taking the mickey'. About what ? I only have a flash broadcast on Sky Racing at the moment and CANNOT see the official times until later on the NZ web-site with the times run. Hey would you like to trade STORM in the next race for Mark Purdon on RIVEERED to get a shot at Richies 2 from 2 today ?? lol..... I'm just enjoying the racing mate. Mark Wins many races on this day every year. No good getting upset about it .
-
you are sort of right with that . It was a very concerted effort by team Dalgety to beat team Cullen/Purdon. Had to try something. Nearly got the fav beat , so nearly worked. Took 5 lengths off FRANCO INDIE compared to last time if you ask me.
-
2 Points for the Gospel of Judas as we get half way through the 12 race card, with HezaSport 2nd. RICHIE with it shot to bits today already with 2 out of 2 wins, and didn't even need to use his 'Big Guns' of FRANCO INDIE and SELF ASSURED to get the BOAY cup day crown. 6/6 for RICHIE (points) declared winner already !!! All over rover lol..... and 4 out of 6 (races ) for Mark Purdon through R6 . now to enjoy the group 1's !!!!! have a great Day!
-
Mark home at $6 in the 4th!!! .excellent. Hope you guys are following Marks lead here? and getting Rich like RICHIE. 3 points for Richie who 'ALWAYS have FAITH' in harness racing , and the ability of pride of the nation Marky boy. RICHIE now level with the 'tearway leader' the Galah in the BOAY cup day cup at 3 points, and so Will he put him to the sword ? lol
-
The 3rd race hits the line and it's the master blaster MARK PURDON in for his 2nd win today already . (and he's just warming Up !!!!) A close 4th for HunterthePunter and 'Show Me the Gray'. ....Sorry about that Hunter, I took the wrong "4 barrelled" name for you. I DREAM OF JEANNIE getting the cigar for Marky boy.
-
No surprises there, with The GALAH bounding out to a Big 3 point early lead with 'Smart Watch' winning easily in race 2. The Galah knows a Top driver when he see's one. 10/10 drive there by John Dunn once again on 'Smart Watch'.
-
