  1. Alright Blackie , you take this legend then (Because Blackie the horse is a QLD legend) Q9/ This Legend out -trotted them Nz , Aus, USA and Europe and is probably the best Nz trotter ever ?
  2. 'L' day sees some L ovely horses in action in the quiz. Can anyone guess some of these ? have a t crack at one or two if you think you have it.... Q1/ This great horse did it all really and this beautifully built horse might become a siring sensation ? Q2/ This great horse , also a stunning 'Looker' knocked off the Aussies in the Miracle mile in his fine career and you could always see him 'Flashing' home late in race with his mane and tail very flash indeed.. Q3/ And some double LL's in the horse's name. This bloke clearly the best with a great career and resume with junior driver Mango piloting him to numerous wins before the Iceman took over and kept it going. Q4/ This double LL caused quite a sensation when 'face-planting ' into the Addington track in a feature race , and taking out 8 of his opponents in the process ? Q5/ This double LL horse was one of the 5 left standing (racing) when horse Q4 bit the deck. He sadly ran 5th. He was good enough to make the Interdominion Final at Addington 3 years later but found the great Q6 Aussie too big and too strong lol.... The Aussies to get to Nz shores and make an impact ........ Q6/ This brilliant Aussie (kiwibred really but don't tell anyone) is the One and Only Australian trained horse to win both the Interdominion Final and the Nz Cup on Nz soil. what a little champ .... Q7/ Kerryn Manning not only did well with Arden Rooney in Nz but took out an Auckland feature with this great trotting mare one year as well .? Q8/ Picture Clue./ Have a go at this horses brilliant Gait ?? why did we need American breeds with Pacing like this? Without hopples and all ? And this horse set a World Record ? Who is this magnificent animal and what was the record?
  3. Ash Barty won Wimbledon last year at a young age and was getting better each year. Now just retired ??!!?? The Idiots running tournaments, pay them TOO MUCH money and some are happy to go and play golf instead lol. Ash retired at 26 years old with roughly 20 mill ....lol.... And now we are stuck with this Horrid Nick Kyrgios repping Australia , and once again abusing all and sundry for the umpteenth time , Including members of the Public now ..... NO Other Sport would they tolerate his antics. In the heated battle of footy any abuse of the ref is just not tolerated. Disgrace to Tennis this Kyrgios Mug is ......
  4. Good one Blackie !!!. you are on the money with Krug taking the Nz and GN Derby's last year. Koala King had that many wins , no one could count them all from all the places he went. (I see he did win 1 out of 3 starts he had at Auckland afterall) Koala King had 40 Harold Parks wins including a win over one of tomorrows 'L' horses in the Interdominion Grand Final. I know you know that horse Blackie lol, so will be interesting to see if anyone else remembers . Knight Pistol smashed out over 50 wins from 180 odd starts. Sure was a tough bugger alright.
  5. KKK day for the quiz of harness greats over the years to of raced in NZ. can you name any of theses?? Q1/ Double Derby . say no more the aussies ..... Q2/ KK the great one might have started at Auckland. can't quite remember though. Think something happened and he didn't win. Q3/ K for Kerryn, she may have won the Nz Cup with Arden Rooney but her mighty 'K' trotter that she won in Europe with could not win at Auckland sadly.
  6. Who can forget that 'Amazing' mare . Yes last year she plucked 2 of the 3 Group 1's on offer for her in Brissy. 1st in the Rising Sun (a new race) for Mark driving, 1st In the Blacks A Fake with 'Stare Blair' driving , and inbetween those was a very narrow head v 1/2head 3rd in the Golden Girl for Ant's driving. (Spellbound was 2nd in that one) kiwi American Dealer (Ant's) won the QLD Derby brilliantly , with your mate Captain Crusader 2nd, KRUG 3rd. Anthony Butt winning the Qld trotters Cup too with Crusaders teammate Tough Monarch for Alchin. loved it..... Can only hope we see some more great racing like that again !!!!!!!!, even though Copy That and King of Swing aren't here this time round.
  7. You might be a mate of 'Happy's" but the bloke is on a crusade against harness racing. How can you 'hear, hear" that comment ?? and say it's sane? It's a lot of Rot. Who are the 'Some' for starters? Alford Confessed. No-one, Not even the imaginary 'some' think he is innocent. Kerr copped a barrage of criticism on this site for his deplorable , selfish actions. Is his sentence long enough? McGrath went out for 8 years DQ. sorry I'm not sure which group processed that . (but that sentence too harsh IMO) Happy can come back and enjoy 'nonsense' if he feels up to it. but left because he doesn't like Noodlum lol......
  8. Bit of a toughie as realise I didn't put whether Training or Driving. ANSWER is 13 Training . and 11 Driving. wow ! how good is that bloke?. as well as driving Il Vicolo, and Jack Cade from Q2 today , Marks other 9 Nz Derby winning drives were MarkRoy, TheCourtOwl, BoganFella, YoungRufus, Likmesiah, AucklandReactor, BorderControl, Lazarus and Vincent..... Natalie drove UltimateSniper and Timmy drove HaveFaith In Me to NZ Derby success for Allstars as well.
  9. Isn't he a beauty ? One of the great treasures of harness racing . His son Lordship starting off a magnificent colonial breeding chain , that ultimately sadly, faded out to the American influence.
  10. G day there, they are trying to get more uniform handicapping through all the states, so they have a NR = National Rating , the bigger the number the more highly regarded/rated is the horse from Group race placings, etc.... the lowest is 40 for a 2 year old, 120 the maximum for fastest class FFA horses. The B is a Band local rating They have Band 5 down to Band 1 , based on number of wins in 'Band' races. Just another way to assemble fields. usually a Metro or City race would be a 'Band' race B5 Band 5 horses have won one Band race. B4 Band 4 horses have won 2, B3 have won 3 , B2 have won 4 races with a Band penalty , and All the field above in the Wondai's Mate open have won 5 or more of those, so are all B1 horses. except kiwi FIRE FOX who hasn't raced against this FFA company as yet (only a B3 93 rater) He's in for shock !!!!! They'll be going like scorched Cats !!!!
  11. Jumping Jack Flash it's 'J' Quiz day already...... have a crack at any of these ........ Q1/ Picture Clue . Loved by everyone in his day. Loved by everyone in this day. Bet you All know this guy ? Q2/ Marky Boy raced yesterday's Quiz horse Il Vicolo as an owner himself , along with the Seaton family , to win about $1,500,000 . not to shabby ? BUT then he raced one of Il Vicolo's sons himself as well , (along with the Seaton family) to win another $750,000 . Who was that son of a great starting with J...? Q3/ Bet Mark has pictures of those one's from Q2 on his wall lol.... set him up very nicely. But there might be even more pictures as both those 2 horses won the NZ Derby for him. BUT how many NZ Derby's has Mark Purdon won? The Aussie to of raced in Nz........ Q4/ we are in reverse here, as this bloke (like many others ) Began his career with 3 wins in NZ. But won all his features in Oz for a WA chap who sadly got cancer at the same time and passed away at 40 years old. but Not before winning an Interdominion blowing away Nz Cup winners Blossom Lady and Christopher Vance and others....
  12. As the July Month of fantastic Queensland Harness racing kicks off this Saturday , the first lead in Open Class feature Has near a field that Addington or Alexandra Park would of been pleased to see in NZ. The 'Wondai's Mate' Open Sprint has a great field set to do battle in 1.51 mile I will guess. (FYI Wondai's Mate was a great local horse in the 80's that won twice at an Auckland Interdominion , but lost his driver in the Grand Final won styilishly by Gammalite.) 2022 JLH FINANCE WONDAIS MATE OPEN (LISTED) 1660M $25,970 No NR. 13. Because the good ones all end up racing in Oz , and leave behind these sort of horses for you to enjoy. I'll put up a thread to show the feature this coming Saturday in a moment . Familiar names for the kiwis in that.
  14. Well you blokes still stuck on vaccines and bad PM apparently . no one says the horrid C word in Oz anymore. We're over it altogeather thank christ. Talk about live in depressed state lol.. guess it's better than Ukraine or Somalia though lol. And the Poms have smacked Blackcaps 3 - 0 in the cricket tests just finished . oh dear..... We got them 4-0 last year in Ashes so hopefully Oz can 'Smack em down ' next year in the Ashes to make up for this NZ bloodbath. But com'on guys !!! fire up with some enthuasism. ! Cup Carnival coming up in Nov? Waller crushing the world for NZ at Royal Ascot (and with a great kiwi hoop too !! the other day. Solid Rugby win ? Commonwealth Games golds for NZ are just around the corner? AND Next Week brilliant kiwi director TAIKA WAITITI along with his Fab Aussie Star CHRIS HEMSWORTH are releasing the next THOR movie called 'Love and Thunder,' Putting NZ and Aus on the MAP in Dozens of countries and in front of Millions of people around the Globe, showing how Cool and Funny and talented Kiwis and Aussies really are !!!!
  15. Some more 'I for Incredible' horses......... Q3/ This horse whizzed around Harold Park in the quickest Miracle Mile ever run there. They shifted the race to Menangle around 2010. Q4/ This horse was good enough to make it on to a NZ postage stamp , along with Blossom Lady at the same time those postage stamps were issued. And the Aussie to have a crack at the kiwis.? Q5 This kiwi bred horse had a few raids to Nz I think and was the beneficiary of the 'First past the Post' Aussie being disqualified in an Auckland feature. Perhaps the first part of his name was dropped while racing in NZ? but he had it tagged on racing in Oz.
  16. Quiz day is up to the I horses and I Can Doosit has already trotted in first place. Q2/ Photo clue from this beautiful painting was anyone alive when this bloke was winning ? lol....
  17. If you want a good trotter for the 'I's we are up to today,............ so name begins I. Q1/ Can you name one of the all time greats trotting to multiple Dominion Hcp',Rowe and Interdom glory? (s)
  18. We did do a few trotters at the 'D's giving David Moss (2 Dominions) and Diamond Field a mention from the 90's. Also a beaut photo of Easton Light in the E section too, who won 2 Dominions. There sure are great trotters every year in NZ as time goes by.
  19. AMORE VITA is a stunning performer already. Steve and Nathan P must be stoked. Queensland Oaks will be a mere formality. winning 9 of last 10 starts now, and 3rd in the NSW Oaks in the other when driven aggressively. The Queensland Derby won't be hers though , as Grant Dixon has told me he has the next 'Champion of Australia' and will be sweeping all before him soon with LEAP OF FAME. 11 wins from 14 so far including a 4 length win in the NSW Derby at his last start. Can't wait to see him go shortly......
  20. Barry and Greyhound have cleaned up today with some of the greats with 100% correct answers. Highland Fling and Harold Logan both with the 2 Nz Cups each. The second one on both occasions was off an astounding 60 yard handicap. Great mare Haughty also with 2 NZ Cup wins and the second off 36yards for Ben Grice. Hands Down coming back at Delightful Lady to win his NZ Cup in the photo , in front of a full Addington house , after being headed off by near a length as they turned for home. Great effort by Peter Jones there to judge it so well. (also great effort by Mike Stormont and the lady off an un-fair handicap in that race)
  21. To kick off 'H' day we have some beauties. The Nz Harness racing Hall of Fame has eleven horses inducted . (Including Cardigan Bay and Caduceus of course) TWO others of the inaugural band of 6 Inductees were great 'H' horses. Q1/ and...... Q2/ are name these 2 great horses that are Hall of Famers ? Q3/ Both these horses achieved the SAME remarkable feat in their racing days . What was it ? Q4/ I think this horse that achieved that same feat (well was less a few yards but very close) should of been a Hall of Famer as well. Who was she ? Q5/ this great horse was once one of the most recognisable faces in harness racing. Here he co-incidently is beating one of the 11 'Nz Hall of Fame' Inductees. Who is he ? and the Aussie ????? Q6/ This great horse was undeated in NZ when he came to your shores. winning 3 out of 3 (and it possible could of been 4 if he didn't scratch from the 4th race)
  22. Great work by you there mate. You always said take the Captain for a place through the whole carnival and at $6 or $7 for the place last night you were on the money !! alas Gammalite thought Mach Shard was a certainty and got sweet nothing . MShard did ok coming around the field , parked out last lap, loomed up to leader turning in , faded late. Turn It Up got held up until late. A Young girl driver from Victoria won it on a heavily backed runner.
  23. A very nice run tonight but a few of the 6 wins were just loose class mares races with only about 6 starters. Much better tonight for NZ, were Nathan Purdon winning the Redcliffe Oaks with Nz owned 'Amore Vita' and 'The Honey Queen' won easily for Nz owners John and Trish Green with Luke McCarthy training her now. 'Mach Shard 'and 'Turn It Up' (a coupe of big winning kiwis) were 4th and 5th from handicaps in the Redcliffe Cup. I thought they would run the quinella easily..... But Amazingly the HANDICAP system still works >> and they unfortunately were beaten a length from the standing start, by the runners that were in the first 3 positions along the fence , during the run. Old kiwi horse DEUS EX hated the standing start and took off in the other direction at the start . Just craziness with a mobile parked just metres away.......
  24. yep . won Easter Cup and Quinella in NZ Cup with stablemate Facta Non Verba Yep. Gold Ace had 4 campaigns in Oz as well (winning another 6 races) The boys are onto it . A good tip coming up for G day. Just sat down to watch tele and GRANDSLAM came on . perhaps an Omen bet for Caulfield coming up in a few minutes (and was didcussing the harness grandslam earlier in week .
  25. 'G' for Go day , and here we have a couple of kiwis and a couple of Aussies. Can you pick them from the clues in todays quiz ? Q1/ This bloke won a whole swag of races on both sides of the Tasman and especially as a three year old he gave it to the 'Terror' in some Group 1's and banked near 1/2 mill that year. Q2/ This horse started in about 30 Group races but only ever won 2 of them. 3200m stands at Addington were both of those. and one was a surprise stable Quinella paying $200 odd... The Aussies to of raced in NZ. Q3/ Greatest of all to race there ? well everyone knows the answer to that one at Gammalite lol. Although a couple of 'pretenders' tried to upstage the Gammalite Interdominion- Auckland Cup double . I'm ThemightyQuinn just being a 'guts' with an Interdominion and 2 Auckland Cups ! WTF. and My Lightning Blue the Addington Interdominion with NZ Cup double. boring.... Just disgraceful that they would do that lol... Q4/ Another Aussie sneaked an Interdominion at Addington too?. who was that ? seemed Half the field was 'doped-up' though and disqualified lol. so this Vic pacer didn't have to do it tough like 'Gamma' and beat some of the greats like Popular Alm, Delightful Lady and Armalight (2nd, 3rd and 4th in his Inter win) 😉😉
