  1. Hey I see she had a crack at the Hawera Cup too, against the pacers. The master Wolfie at the helm. Came up just short unfortunately , running 2nd to one of Charlie Hunter's in one of those NZ monster sized fields , and off 30m handicap too. 2. Bet you would of loved this bloke then ???
  3. A true star of the track Paleface !! here he is celebrating a Big win at Auckland. But in true Aussie tradition (e.g Junior's Image at Addington) had this race taken off him for a positive swab lol. You know how us Aussies like to 'Tank -up' when away at the shaky isles for a holiday !! hahaha
  4. And another great twist. When SPECIAL FORCE won his Auckland Interdominion with Todd driving in 1999, Colin DeFilippi ran 2nd in Grand Final driving AFRICA for Mark Purdon.
  5. Sundon ran last in the 1990 Trot Interdominion Grand Final for Fred. Is there an insider story what went wrong that day? just wondering what happened. Real Force and Peter Davis took victory.
  6. A son of a gun combo ! Chris Lang (son of Graeme a great trotting trainer) training , and Sundons Gift (son of the Nz great horse Sundon) Bonus 'S' question .!!! Special Pride was the mum of another brilliant 'S' trotter who won the trotter's Interdominion actually and a heap of races for the McGowan family . Who was he?
  7. Yes a handy lot . Greyhound and Blackie were cleaning up the gaps from your selections here. Q4/ Stormy Morn had a very long career. saw him win many for Tony Perucich in the north, after starting out south. Q5/ Special Pride had a short but good career. including a Rowe Cup . Q7/ Speeding Spur for the Dickies, with his distinctive unusual head carry . Nose up . here's a pic.
  8. A quiz horse for me maybe ? . I'll have to go Single Cash for Wolfie in that case ? ....and am trying to think of another great Wolfendon horse if 'bracketed'. Charlie Hunter had some nice ones at that stage too.
  9. Some great 'S' for Supreme Squaregaiters on this Sunny Sunday quiz. Who can think of any of these from the clue.. Q1/ horse Number one under the Sun is indeed the best there is under the Sun at the moment. A fine son indeed. Q2/ This great trotter admired by many it seems , and made a great impact breeding as well from Roydon Lodge. Q3/ A trotter who just like the Aussie great Maori's Idol, was that good he took on the Pacer's on occasion. Q4/ This old boy was a great in the south island , then a great in the north island afterwards and along the way won 10 out of 20 Australian starts too. finished his career trying to come off 75m his last 2 starts back in SI again. Q5/ A rocket of a mare, that Wolfie often drove for an owner trainer who won the Rowe by many lengths in the slop one year. Q6/ The real pocket rocket who thrilled crowds with his sharp excelleration and went toe to toe with an Aussie Interdominion Hall of fame mare on more than one occasion. Q7/ This guy a double S named horse, with his neck stuck out straight as he did , won a great Southern Star for NZ and Some Aussie to of given it a shake in the shaky isles ...... Q8/ Graeme Lang a supreme trainer of trotters brought over the best one for the Aucklanders to admire. And didn't she just play with them .. Q9/ Like the Q8 horseabove , this bloke an Interdominion Trotting Hall of Famer !! along with Pride of Petite and Take A Moment. even though NZ bred , he was trained out of Aus to stop the kiwi Inter domination. Q10/ a tricky finishing one, this mare was looking for glory in NZ , but a Richard Brosnan masterclass on his great trotter, meant she was destined to only run a place at Addington.
  10. In-correct it seems. a battling 3rd only. LADIES IN RED perhaps the best in Australia , just now clearing out in the $300,000 Rising Sun by 4 lengths untouched to take her record to 23 starts for 19 wins and 4 seconds. Good quinella horse ? lol
  11. Nearly got there . The Cruiser coming in 3rd place. Rockin Marty 2nd for Aus to keep the Aussies competitive against the '10 horse Nz bred domination' in the FFA tonight at Albion Park. AND we have a winner !! ex-pat kiwi TRIPLE EIGHT (a visiting Vic trainer winning) from the 'Impossible' 7 Alley. for his 5 kiwi owners I think. how cool...
  12. Hoping you in front nicely from Addington mate. I'm quite confident LEAP TO FAME wins the rising Sun tonight at Albion, if you have a small winning margin today to play with . I think it's worth backing. Showing $8 on Sportsbet which I find quite astounding. Mind you i'm down from SIGH today costing me over 100 as silly jock should of won easy but rode straight into the back of the leaders in the straight R6 Caulfield. sigh...sigh...sigh.... lol
  13. Spot on TW. You have cleaned up the 3 Aussies who had great records in Oz and missed in NZ. see you tomorrow for some great trotters. On the 'S' theme , the great kiwi SPIRIT OF ST LOUIS should be winning tonight at Albion tonight against all those ex-pat kiwi's in the Mr Feelgood Open. and my Best at Caulfield racing soon. SIGH in race 6. Mood's is unearthing another Sprint star seemingly.
  14. Sure to feature in the quiz tomorrow . Was gunna do some Super S trotters then. Bet you remember his sensational little Aussie opponent Davis. She might be about tomorrow as well lol....About Sir Castletons size, and they nearly quinellaed 3 trotting Interdominion Grand Finals. Had a great bit of rivalry.
  15. Yes , conquered them in the West in the 2016 Interdominion GF as Lazarus did the following year too for Marky Boy.
  16. Q3/ Still have this one to nail , Q3/ now adding a 2nd part Part B/ which Stablemate might run 2nd ? as he has done on 2 occasions already. and this one ............... Q8/ clue.........A great stable-mate of the above 2 horses . And the Aussies. might be a bit too tricky as even though winning many Group 1's in Australia these guys didn't go that well in NZ. Q9 Trigger did, he had NZ Cup placings.
  17. Greyhound has scored in the quiz today with 1. Soangetaha, one of Derek Jones best 70 odd years ago. 2. Stanley Rio , for the Noble family winning the Interdominion GF in Brisbane in the 70's 4. Stella Frost , promoted to 1st in that famous Addington Interdominion 5. Sole Command, Wolfie already a legend then , but with Roy Purdon engaging him too, well that just says Winner winner chicken dinner !! 6. Jack Smolenski correct , but who is his 'lesser light' star S horse, of the 70's apart from Arapaho ?? 7. Sapling , a lot of 2nds, yes the trailing Wolfie on Rondel mowed him down late 1979 at Addington GF. 8. In-correct . Was thinking a more recent horse Mark conquered many with on both sides of the Tasman.
  18. Well just realised by trying to cut short have missed the 'S' for Super S horses that rate a mention. There are some real beauties . so rather than 'S for Slump' back into vaccination talk on threads will run with Pacers today and trotters tomorrow for a Super S Saturday and Sunday. can you name these greats ? Q1/ quiz horse that was a favourite of the late great Derek Jones. may have named his stables after him? Q2/ This bloke was a big race specialist bred in Tassie , as were his training driving team, but definitely repping for NZ as he thundered to a big victory or 2. (a big win in QLD ironically) Q3/ Winner of the 2022 Nz Trotting Cup (95% confident lol) Q4/ This mare Gained great benefit from an Aussie testing positive and so was promoted to immortality? Q5/ 2 Legends combined in Roy and Wolfie to rack up big wins with this bloke ? Q6/ Jack S was unlucky to take on Quinny a few times with this 'flashy' maned horse. nearly upset Young Quinn in a big one, but was mowed down late. Who is Jack? who is his flashy steed? Q7/ From the deep south this bloke had to take on the Lady at Auckland, and Lord Module 2 and did a good job of it and had his big moment taken away at the last minute by Wolfie driving Rondel. Q8/ From a great barn, this bloke went all the way to Perth and 'S' for Smacked all the great Aussies that turned up for a big NZ win. Some Aussies to taste Victory !! but mainly defeat in NZ are ..... Q9/ Trigger was another Aussie like Junior's Image to have a DQ after a big NZ win . Who is he? Q10/ Lance Justice also tried to win an Inter with another 'S' horse in NZ , winning a heat at Akld. who? Q11/ Lance's brother John Justice had a great Victorian S horse that flopped in 4 NZ runs? Q12/ Another Turnbull horse , a 'Double S' horse, had a crack also failing in NZ at an Interdom , but Won the grandFinal at his home track in NSW in another year. Good Luck !! have a crack at one , or 2 or 3 or any of those and see how you go ????
  19. Lots of those Big horses or Long striding 'good' horses hit the foot-rests when streching out in full flight. Quite Famous here Top Right, had to have the actual Sulky shafts lifted to get the foot-rests out of the way. Note the different shape compared to the other sulky's in this montage of Vinnys , Vic's or Village Kid's.
  20. Week 2 of the Constellations , and this bloke got the draw to win again.? Here is the 'Mr Feelgood' Field. And What a Cracker NZ line-up !!! inject in some MORE KIWI talent Mach Shard, Cruz Bromac (an Nz Cup Winner), I Cast No Shadow, and Triple Eight this week !! fantastic. 10 kiwi's in It !!! better than Addington lol.... The Aussies still just ONLY be relying on Majestic Cruiser (and Rockin Marty) to Win This One. The $300,000 Rising Sun , also on the program this Saturday night, has no kiwis in it ??? but the Best horse in Aus has a mortgage on it anyway "LEAP TO FAME". 2022 GOLD COAST TURF CLUB MR FEELGOOD OPEN (G3) 2138M $31,768 No NR. 21. Yes Greyhound , Ranga and yourself are all excellent with your harness horses. and identifying them. Your 6 answers spot on once again. Saw these 6 beautiful horses race many times and am very fond of all them. Thorate , Westburn Grant, Village Kid and Yankee Loch all winning Interdominons . Quite Famous 5th in a GF and also won the Addington Interdominion consolation (with his stablemate LB taking victory 👍) and ......... Popular Alm there with Vinny. perhaps the best of them , but only came up with 2 Interdominion Grand Final placings instead of the win . Vinny himself, drove in 10 Grand Finals in a row , and didn't win one !!! one of the great anomalies IMO.
  22. Well will cut the quiz days off with a 'P' at party pooper day as was told the quizes sucked lol.... oh well i tried 🙄. Let's go Out with a 'bang 💣' then and pop up on P, Q, T, V, W, and Y horse's today. Six of my favourites of all time , and even got to sit behind a couple of them. great bit of history some of these. Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4, Q5 and Q6 all in one photo. ! Brilliant.. These great champs (all 6 horses) all crossed the Tasman to (or left) Nz winning on both sides of the ditch....
  23. and Q2/ This mare is in very elite company. There were SIX inaugural Inductees into the New Zealand Trotting Hall of Fame. Cardigan Bay, Caduceus, Highland Fling, Harold Logan, Johnny Globe and this mare ? a surprise inclusion.
  24. O, O, O, dear it's O day. here we go with a great runner. Nz Bred , Aus trained , won Interdominions in both countries, does it get any better than that ?
