great Comp Karrots !! I pick Tony Herlihy's wife and my dentist's wife (who I chatted to for 1/2 hour yesterday ,after some dental work) then she took my $400 anyway, lol . wait!!.. No that's who I would like to take for a drive, lol.... To drive at the races........Let's Have at the races Tony Cameron driving for Tony in the north , and Tony H driving for Tony in the South. Nat is up for 'catch of the day' ?? Who can handle her ?

Better with no Whip then. Sorry about the tedium , but is a VERY very relevant and Current topic. (most important) AND will continue. Your last sentence 'rings true' with the Opie ride. He knew exactly how much to use it and get the win in that feature race. he is very experienced. Sensational judgement and worthy of praise. Great win it was. I have chipped in, as is concerning that Thomass and Horace want to go on the Horse Injured routine. I , and am very sure you, and all the readers would like to think these champion jockeys are Not trying to injure a horse. IF so, BAN WHIPS IMMEADIATELY. 25 years of race driving and vet assistant duties for me, and NOT ONCE have I had to treat a Whip Injury ? Is nice to think the horses welfare is protected by Stewards , Trainers, Jockeys , everyone. A jockey whipping 5 times is exactly the same TO THE HORSE as a jockey whipping 10 times. horses don't count. Surely the whips are designed to Not inflict Injury ?? just reaction. sorry to hear about the fillies you mention. Are they softer than the colts ?
-
Exactly my argument !! thank you Horace. Currently this thread about Opie cheating via number, and Currently horses being 'Harmed' with welts and drawing Blood ?you said with severity and strength. HOW is a horse with a 'Strong' jockey giving it 5 'Welts' (and all the pain that goes with it apparently), before the 100m mark, NOT any worse off than a horse with the Opie whip strikes.? answer/ It's not any better off at All. ............But the jockey is Not called a Cheat lol....... silliness prevails.
-
Well a food allergy or an insect bite causes welts as well. You could call it injury if you want, but more of a skin reaction. I remember Stewards often inspecting horses rumps to ascertain whether any 'welts' or ('Blood?, which Horace said he has seen , would be barbaric, but myself never seen that) was present. To their credit , and yours to , They are ALWAYS concerned for Horse welfare. Surely , surely, surely the whip supplied is Padded and designed to not cause Any harm to the animal. (like a Boxer wears Padded gloves and can smack you in the face) a horse bit tougher than a boxer. You and Horace think every horse in Pain and harm ?? THAT is BAD , and I would fully agree only solution is throw it away if that was the case. (No good limiting use as is current Horace) no matter how you spell it out. My protest is about this Stupid number the Rules bandy about. . Why is a Horse not harmed or in pain at the 100m mark ? ?? Same for all horses and jockeys. not by number.
-
Such a hypocritical response Horace. So carry on about the Pain, Welts, thrashing BUT approve Limited Whip. lol..... at least Thomass wants to ban it. OK for a Jockey to whack 5 times ? Doesn't that leave Welts ? Of course it can. Your arguement says LIMITED use doesn't harm the horse, but 'The Opie ride' for example did ? People and Jockeys aren't Monsters! welfare of horses is paramount to those in the racing industry. Whips have been inspected for decades. All clear wasn't given Until a steward went on the track and Literally felt up and down the drivers whip in case something not legal in use. The padded whips these days are designed in a way to be not as harsh as previous models. A horse is a pretty tough animal Horace. they CANNOT differentiate between 5 strikes or 10. Isn't one strike on your dog or child examples too much? Are you fighting for Horse Welfare or Not? you say they're in pain . this whole arguement is a pain. but limited use ok?. hypocrisy.
-
true, got to say puts a lot of horses on the track, and unlike Webberley and some others ,no Positives .!!!! Also gets a lot of 'average Joe ' owners to the track with low training fees, etc. so that is Good.
-
Hope so Hunter !!! imagine giving the driving instructions out to 8 people.? what a nightmare. uses a lot of junior drivers. Hope they get it right ? lol..... plans a , b and c lol.....
-
Yeah I know. Tim is a doing a great job. But i love my Qld idol. she is doing us proud. Is she available for a cuddle ? sorry Tim , I'm not gay .lol.......... Nat has a LOT of experience.
-
Well that sucks . bloody Williams draws 1 and costs me 50 pesos . give him a slap Nat ! when back at the stalls hahahahahaa
-
Just a "FLASH in The Pan" ? hahahaha oh dear.
-
No I don't know this bloke. one of the few who could foot it with Allstars with Christen Me. What are you saying Flash.? is Cran all good ? I did notice Christen Me ended up with Ross Wolfenden at Delaware USA and won a few. Is very sad Ross and Dexter chose to make careers in the states instead of NZ. the industry there would of been GREAT with them staying in / or returning to NZ. a real shame.
-
Oh come on! don't support this mug. he hates the Allstars for some reason, probably a losing bet once. You are near best judge here, and although it pains me to say, yes Amazing Dream possibly/probably wins if doesn't hand up to Beyond Words , You can't say her chances were diminished by trailing the leader. She did end up 3 back the fence in Auckland Cup handing up and won ok. It Wasn't Race Fixing. race fixing usually involves a betting plunge anyway ??? something HaveaGo/Forbs conveniently FORGETS ???

What does it take to put La Rosa on the unruly for Mobiles?
Gammalite replied to Noodlum's topic in Trotting Chat
That was so stupid. only six in it and they have a second line ??? didn't the bloke want them to see the barrier and learn something that started behind the 1 Draw ??? why bother. Yes , that looked a La Rosa education trial Only. Don't know why he/ she didn't pull out to run past them in the straight though. pretty stupid for her education. La Rosa purchased for 100,000 . I'd be letting her rip in a trial (the run home) and gain confidence. -
Artists at work , during their break. worth more than any silly Picasso.

What a comeback . Are you feeling the TRUE FANTASY of race 7 today? What dreams are made of !!!!! Young champion Mark might try and Win an EMMY for his drive though??? Quinella time ?
-
Did ya see my dream girl go forbs? what an amazing horseperson she is . $8 !!!!! why aren't you getting rich? everyone knows she outdrives Williams all the time. Was just talking about it on another thread here this week. Hey theres' been plenty of Telfer stable multiples in races at Auckland doing a better job than this race. Tune in on Friday and see some more. I'm with Karrots , and EVERYONE had their chance in this race at Addington. Kisses from me to Nat xxxxxx

No. CAPTN ME raced green in the death and ran 3rd of the 5 starters. A quiet start for Nathan in the training ranks. Better news for all the Ant's fans. Now 2nd leading Trainer in Oz! (along with training partner Sonya Smith) Anthony Butt and Sonya Smith with 35 wins from 90 starts through the first 1/4 of the season (since Jan 1 ) The idiot ahead of them on the National Trainers, is a fake leader with No metro wins and gets his wins by literally 'Stacking ' 4 races on every Tasmanian race day with 6-8 runners. (The low class or standing start events) No chance of a feature race win for Ben Yole as too busy with this piss poor 'stacking tactic 'in the minor races. Ben Yole = 57 wins from 700 starters since Jan 1.

Shit I wish !! The great Gammalite ONLY with 2 Interdominion titles. Nat with 5. what a guts! lol....

No Pizza available in Waimate ?

The airways are about to open between Oz and NZ again very soon Ranga. no need to ship. Please send the plane load of 501's to Alice Springs. (drop Nat off in Brissy on way past, if shes on) Which town would you like this Air New Zealand section 501 flight (with Nicholas Cage on) sent to? , we have ready to go ?

18,000 odd evacuated. weather has gone crazy NSW . dam near full inland from Sydney. Is at full release. terrible times for 1000's of folk today. That is crazy with the air pollution? Waimate Timaru Oamaru all on the Pacific coast so how does the Sea -air not blow it all away. ? Does everyone have those wood burning pot-bellies going ? Years ago in Hobart Tas (with it's cool crisp clean air) they BANNED burning wood altogeather , as cold there 10 months of the year, so with 1000's of fireplaces burning , the air quality and pollution got terrible. Now they have power driven heaters sitting in all those old house fireplaces through Hobart.

Gammalite replied to Noodlum's topic in Trotting Chat
Agreed. you get no 'chances' Oz. refuse or a poor score-up = Straight out of draw next 2 starts. Horrid place to start from too. virtually no chance. you'll see Friday Gammalite 'on the money like Brodster' and Sam will have La Rosa pinging away beautifully. Maybe they should chuck a Shadow Roll on ? like the great Noodlum wore. give her something to think about. -
Wonder what gives it the poor air? I raced at Arawa Park Rotorua once and apart from racing on grass being the roughest experience. (Try riding a bicycle across a paddock and see what I mean, but try to get up over 25mph) the sulphur in the air wasn't that great an experience either. The COOL CRISP air of the South Island must be pure like Tasmania ? we are lush and green like NZ just now, as has been raining for a week Qld, and even worse in NSW places , they are getting washed away. worst in 60 years in some parts. Homes are floating down the rivers ! poor buggers.

Don't agree. If driver Sam plants her head on the gate early in score up that gives the horse something to concentrate on. There's no horses inside her to distract in the run-up to the barrier. Once moving forward is unlikely to 'Jump out of gear" and cause the carnage you say to second row. Her problem was actually going forward Early In the score-up, so 1 DRAW, gives her a chance to lead up to the barrier instead of refusing to follow and shying away from the other runners, if drawn elsewhere.
