  1. yeah i spose . That NZ FFA win was pretty awesome! by 3 lengths. It was only THE FIXER running 2nd in that NZ FFA though. a horse I would be more likely pick on , with lost leg IMO hehehe. Spankem was eye-balled last lap by Colt Thirty One (46 wins from 83 starts) and they were run down by quality opponents, in Copy That and Balraj. I wasn't too surprised they both finished a length off the win. Yeah , like these days not much point changing colours each race as same drivers go round mostly. a band of 15 or so who are in most races. use their own comfy silks (and own sulkies too BTW) on differing trainers runners. They would wear owners colours if requested though no Problem. Training very easy when racing once a week . horse dashes around for 2 mins and mostly they cover up and just sprint home. easy recovery . couple of trainers don't hopple at all at home race fit horses . swim and a canter. yes the short distance racing important. anything over the mile and a quarter is hard to bounce back from as easily, as they work waaay more in the running of those races, so a little flat racing the following week. NOTE with our locals racing the 2600m Redcliffe Cup stand last Friday , those runners a little 'Flat' this week, like Colt Thirty One and also McCarthy's only unplaced runner last night 'BETTOR ENFORCE' the fav in race 1 last night.
  2. I must say you and Forbs and Newmarket being quite tough on Spankem. Very tough indeed. He has a 1st, a 3rd and a 4th recently as his Oz form? what is wrong with that ?? (not counting lost driver race) the 3rd by Spankem was to King of Swing. He can't beat him. Undisputed heavyweight champion of Australia with 16 wins and 4 placings since joining the McCarthy barn early last year. (one of those placings was to BALRAJ once as well and Lochinvar Art twice) and BALRAJ was the one finishing 2nd last night to COPY THAT , with Spankem 4th. Am sure Copy That was the NZ Cup favourite? so is No slug. maybe Spankem only on a par with Copy That at his best ???? finished alongside each other in Auckland Cup. Has been well over 2 years since the great Miracle Mile win. In NZ Spankem has 13 wins from 40 starts ? nice but not sensational. Aus form is 7 wins from 14 starts !! Spankem actually does better here . why Bag him?. he's doing fine. surely, Balraj camping on his back , and Copy That smothered up till late, were intitled to Match Spankem last night, at least ?? They're all nice horses. COLT THIRTY ONE a battling 6th , but like Spankem , only 4m off last night winner of COPY THAT. I'm not crying over COLT31 losing, maybe get em' next time. ? (Not if King of Swing in it though) Colt finished alongside Spankem last night. and he's pretty good too. toss it in ?? what a lot of rot I reckon lol.........
  3. AMERICAN DEALER closed in late in the last race at Brisbane for a good 2nd. So kiwi trainer Ray Green just misses the double. he went quite nicely. TEAM 'McCarthy' 12 Starters for 6 Wins, 3 seconds, 2 thirds , and one unplaced (sack that one ? lol...) The SuperStable once again in fine form. !! ***only 2nd (Balraj) to the great win of COPY THAT though. They won a trotting heat of our Qld trotting championship HUMBLE LADD , a 'Williamson' trotter until recently. double GROUP 1 winner 'Pink Galah's' won the 2nd Heat for the trotters easily. To give him a shout, and For a Laugh I added up the best Qld trotter handicaps, who ran 2nd to Pink Galahs, OUR OVERANOVA. He is kiwibred and last raced there 2013 !! now 12 years old and posted 63 wins from 198 starts. He has started off 40m handicap or longer in 84 of those starts !!!! astonishing to be so competitive chasing from the back, all the time. His total handicaps add up to over 5000m (or 5 kilometres) of handicaps !!!!! ....... lol...... many off 50 and 60 m behind. I know QLD opposition pretty tame, but what a great old timer , all the same to do that.
  4. Shane Graham was much more aggresive with kiwi ITALIAN LAD (leading from 7 alley) ant then ran 2nd to McCarthy's $1.50 shot. ex kiwi Spirit of St LOUIS. Shane has 2750 career wins so knows what he's doing ok mostly (16% win rate to drives total) exactly the same strike rate over time, as the leaders Grant Dixon and Pete Mcmullen . yeah 'Turn It Up' was an error I think. Italian Lad Looked a pretty good run to me, 5 lengths clear of 3rd. an ex purdon horse. reckon Aussies like em" ok. Princess Tiffany some Group 1 's this year too. Can't improve horses on Allstars anyway, is impossible, so what is Newmarket dribbling about ???? would be like trying to get a galloper to do more after being at Chris Wallers ? no chance hehehe SEE the trusty Gammalite fav's of beautiful young trotter PINK GALAH's and mighty EXPENSIVE EGO (1.52 parked out , and quicker than Copy That) Both win Super Impressively tonight !! magic stuff.
  5. Horse racing has been around a long time Lena. Most of the hands on participants have been working in the industry all their lives. the treatment of the animals is first class, as if these horses were part of the family , like a cat or dog , as they are relied on for income for those workers. I worked with horses many years and only saw an industry of compassionate horse-caring people. When racing clubs close in some districts , the number declines as the workers and next generation of racing families, go and do 'something else' and leave the family farms etc. a world wide phenomenom. racing or farming. A critical 'loss' to those industries. that is the main threat you wanted to know. Like-wise the 'regular ' race-goers decline at the same rate. People are more comfortable watching from home , these days, weather conditions, world-wide health concerns, reduced incomes , gambling dollar spread across other gambling sources is a loss for racing. Your 'social Impact' is way more with 'Pokies addiction' , a lot of sports clubs/RSL ,etc, making a fortune from machines rigged to win for them? where's their ethics ? and have massive family 'social Impact' a lot more than the trusty beautiful racing horse ever did.
  6. That is hilarious with that old horse!!!!. It won 'pulling' on Tuesday lol... couldn't hold him back, all the race. An old claimer. been around for years with Robbie Morris and 'Claimed' for 10k a year ago by Harry Martin , who had 4 wins from 40 starts over the past year with him. very mild. THEN, 10 weeks ago GRIMSON/TRAINOR get him and now 4 wins since they got him , and going like he would beat the Miracle Mile winner SPANKEM and COLT31 up here tomorrow night in Brissy.???? hehehe Back to the retention barn for the 'old boy' Serengeti, I think lol..... need to see why he is put in the big runs now at his age lol.......
  7. Absolutely mate. Horses eating properly (diet) to race, is way more important than what you think. a critical factor. not a hope they race on Oats and hay alone lol..... Was a tonic in 'Tim Butts' stable that you are talking about? or G Small ?or ..... one of many others?? Lyell Creek had good tonic. My Field Marshall with the 1.46.9 Miracle Mile Win sure had a 'great' tonic lol.! burning Lazarus off by 20m lol...... well done to them. If it's legal use. throw it in . win the big ones. All trainers give tonics, aids, drenches, supplements, additives of all kinds. (just like All human athletes competing at the top level take. !! BTW . stewards should be following Mark Cavandish around with a sample pot at 'Le Tour" hahaha get some good samples lol... This thread I was high-lighting kiwi horseman Jack TRAINOR/ and 'stablemate J GRIMSON dramatic increase in results, and thought it was funny the stewards were trying to find the Tonic !! lol...... good on the young lads, as long as it's a legal. ! and they're still getting results after retention barn stay as well ! Time to brew a 'tonic for self now' ready for some racing today.
  8. Don't know zip about masking agents. did work with vets for many years, and do know many environment solutions (treated pine rails) etc contain 'arsenic' and some injectables (such as Ferrocyl) that are given by vets for poor eating horses, are arsenic based and effect the gut circulation in difficult eaters , to keep adequate nutrition up to scratch. With-holding period is 5 days for arsenic products. and need to keep under the 3 milligrams per litre /urine swab threshold in race-horses. What were they masking ? doesn't sound good.
  9. Pretty good. yes they get pretty 'Timid' with nice horses odds lol...... There is one market open for the FFA saturday night that I will pop here in the 'Wondai's Mate Open' featuring a few of the Fab kiwi's. SPANKEM is Already slashed in to $1.50 the win in QLD !!!!!!!! that was quick.??? lol.. my poor favourite horse COLT THIRTY ONE towelled up by stunning NZer " LL COOL J " last week , now has to deal with Spankem, Turn It Up and Copy That from NZ this week. what a bummer lol........ actually he's not that poor as just cruising up to $1,000,000 won next start or 2. McCarthy drawn to lead with 'Balraj,' so makes 'Copy That' and 'Turn It Up' double figure odds. Wonder if Kylie can drive with Gusto like sister Natalie , and press for the lead . Go COLT !!! run em all down lol........ 1 12360 KID MONTANA (Em 1) Lola Weidemann Lola Weidemann NR116 B1 FR- $26 2 18155 UNCLE JORD Chris Frisby Anthony Frisby NR106 B1 FR1 $26 3 77453 BALRAJ NZ Belinda McCarthy Luke McCarthy NR112 B2 FR2 $6 4 02119 ROCKIN MARTY David Hewitt Brad Hewitt NR98 B3 FR3 $12 5 22u13 SPANKEM NZ Darren Weeks Kylie Rasmussen NR120 B1 FR4 $2 6 235s3 COLT THIRTY ONE Grant Dixon Grant Dixon NR120 B1 FR5 $8 7 10255 MAYWYNS BEST Graham Dwyer Pete McMullen NR118 B1 FR6 $21 ------------------------------ Second Row ------------------------------ 8 11129 COPY THAT NZ Ray Green Anthony Butt NR120 B1 SR1 $8.50 9 474s9 ESCALERA NZ Jarrod Alchin Nathan Dawson NR108 B1 SR2 $41 10 12842 CARDLESFROMHEAVEN Ian Gurney Adam Sanderson NR98 B2 SR3 $31 11 4s792 TURN IT UP Vicki Rasmussen Shane Graham NR118 B1 SR4 $10
  10. Yes , I find it quite annoying the 'trots ' betting is effected badly by small pools and restrictions you and Brodie mention, and the FAILURE to put up odds at all, let alone small odds hahaha lol.. The gallopers with the bigger pools and LOT more people betting, obviously have a lot more Losers . i.e People losing money to the betting agencies on each and every race... At the harness, people know what they are doing , example I think you , I ,Brodie, Davis, JJflash we could all win each and every harness meeting. BECAUSE the racing is Honest and the HORSES RUN TRUE TO FORM ?? way more than gallopers I would suggest. I think betting agencies hate us, and call us thieves on wheels etc. Even Though Jockeys BET waaaay more than us poor trotting folk. Always fixed. I gave up betting all togeather for a couple of years before the fixed betting started up. Couldn't stand the odds being slashed after the start of a race. was absolute joke and happened every race. King of Swing might show $2 win for example , until the race has betting CLOSED as the race starts , THEN they TAB, change it half way through the race to $1.10 win. Was a total NOT WORTH WHILE excercise. rip off time and time again. If King of Swing shows $2 fixed , I am on , and collect that divvie. never in doubt lol.............. Is 'Fixed Price' open for betting Addington + Auckland in advance there ?(today?) or is it just hours before they jump like they are here in Qld. have no clue what they're paying till the day. which sucks.
  11. Today is the Brisbane 'Slower/maiden class day . race for between $4k-$5k total per race. seems about right. Great that there is support for these meetings by you guys. I am trying to 'mend my ways' of supporting just horses I think can win/ win easily . Can't believe it though . 2 hours to the first race at Albion today and STILL no fixed price markets up TAB or sportsbet!!!. NO MARKETS are up for our big Saturday night metro meetings either !!!! I'm Very ANGRY harness gets 'treated like this' !!!!!It's July . Albion Park has features all through the month. No fixed price up yet ???? I could do a market for them in about an hour for Saturday night. A feature night with lots of visitors, I reckon I could (without computer help even) Just a disgrace they can't/won't do it. !!!! ALL the fricken Sat gallop meetings have a market up fixed price already. just poor cousin trotting .No. I'll end up just betting on those and harness misses out. Just not right. just incompetence (or poor service anyway) Can I ask whether you can bet (fixed) over there Auckland and Addington already for tomorrow??
  12. It stops a 'BIG chunk' of them Galah. You ,Chief and everyone knows ALL top level athletes get Chemical assistance of some kind. Horses especially, Vets and Horse trainers have worked hand in hand for decades to keep horses feeling great , and racing in peak physical/ mental condition. you Won't Win BIG ones (races) without help. Have a look at the human athletes, cyclists , swimmers , even football .(Essendon had a famous BIOCHEMIST , they call them now instead of doctors) Dank wrecked that club with illegal substances and cost 17 players a years disqualification and the club a $2mill fine. And he got off ?? Dank should of been jailed for years. (funnily he tried to sue for defamation $10 mill got dismissed thankfully) I digress, Chris Waller, for example , has a 'Biochemist' constantly designing the 'mix' that goes into his 100's of $millions worth of bloodstock. Feed and supplements calculated to the miniscule degree? I've no reason to think the leading harness stables would not be similar. The biochemist a critical factor in these top horses. Results are accordingly excellent. Also a history of 4 DECADES of success with on the track driving/training as well . someone has to be the best. The 48 hour retention barn does a it's job for STOPPING the late 'poormans' extra's being added. hahaha nice Galah term there !!!
  13. geeeeez , you are a hard bugger Paleface. Fancy calling LAZARUS a donkey..... nearly the best ever. Before Lazarus had his last start ever in Australia in that 2018 Miracle Mile , he had NOT missed a place in Australia in 15 starts which included 6 x Group 1 Wins including Hunter Cup and Perth Interdominion.... superb !! The fastest times he (Lazarus) ran in Australia were the 1.49 in the 2017 Miracle Mile when 3rd??? and Chariots of fire WIN the year before. Perhaps the retention barn 'NOT in Action' with Allstars 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the 2017 Miracle Mile?? The 2018 Miracle Mile was won by Butts(My Field Marshall) in 1.46.9 ????? wow. low level flying !!!!! The very best Aussie of recent years TIGER TARA was 4 lengths back from winner struggling 4th as well. Lazarus best was 1.49 here, here's the excuse........................... They went TOO FAST for them mate!!!!, you were there , you saw it ? Can't win All the time mate. He couldn't go that fast ? please forgive him one bad run for Christ sake. nothing to do with treatments. Even if YOU suggest it is to do with treatments, that just shows the 'Retention Barn' is working ????? brilliant still? Have no idea what happens at Menangle trials. never been there. can't answer your question. can you????
  14. That's quite ironic in a way! lol. We had the "Big Blinkers" arguement with Chief one other time , and you may not remember, but I was on your side of the arguement, that it seemed ok to use them , and results were good. Now you are 'sick' with the sight of all the gear on a horse, you would think the irony is 'Thomas would be Without those 'Melody Belle' like Blinkers , and running naked and free like Chief wants. bit of irony anyway. I'm easy !!! The trainers probably know what they're doing? they been doing it enough years. I thought the Perth harness trainers were 'over-doing' it, as I showed earlier, and it did look a bit bilious ? lol........ and personally thought it was great to see the beautiful horse head again (like the NZer KRUG photo) and/or BLACK CAVIAR seen here charging to Victory !!!!!!! hope you enjoy this photo more !
  15. sorry Galah , you are wrong with this . Most horse aids/treatments , (EXAMPLE like Mr Alford, McGrath and others using milkshakes over the years), and many injectibles are given race-day or day before , so to actually be EFFECTIVE> i.e help you win the race. otherwise NO POINT using them .lol...... Strong administrations , that are working Longer-Term, like you want, EXAMPLE steroids, are swabable, as in the system extended periods , and you really run the Gauntlet of Excess substance in the blood/ urine testing. Not recommended. Retention Barn has been great at Not only preventing 'raceday' administration , but prevents Accusations of such as well !!!!brilliant.
  16. Can't understand you for a second Thomas. My post was discussing Chief Stipes THREAD topic of "Incentivise" and "Headgear." I don't wish you to be sick , at the sight of a Standardbred. maybe take some pills or something ??? It's a horse mate. It's from NZ , and it races very well. Thoroughbred folk would even approve of KRUG ? maybe use it to 'Broaden' your narrow horizons?. It's like you don't want anyone to post anything without your approval, and am sure you have driven many away. a real shame. not sure why you are you so mean about everything, but surely people can post things they're interested in ? Do you like INCENTIVISE ? is that of any interest?
  17. I'm already convinced with INCENTIVISE , so am already getting on the $9 win/$3 pl for Caulfield Cup . Is being sent to Peter Moody now to get ready for a 'Cups' Trail. He Was more dominant than what Vow and Declare was , in the Brisbane campaign that Vow had, before he Won the Mel Cup . You Are convincing me Chief regarding headgear too !! hahahaha , here's a photo from Perth last week. 'Every horse' with something Jammed on it's head (for concentration) looks like they had a TACK room 'sale' and rummage or something, and just chucking on whatever they could find. lol.... Versus ,...... the absolute Superstar , the double NZ Derby winner "KRUG" (champion driver NZer Anthony Butt driving) in 2nd photo. When you are the Best 3 Year old in Australasia, seen here breaking the Redcliffe Track record here at first start in Oz .last weekend, getting ready for Queensland Derby. And LOOKING FABULOUS doing it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! who needs headgear when you're this good ???
  18. Lessons for all stallions "Getting the jump on the opposition" "There's No Time, like the present" " Seize the Moment" "Don't ever let a Chance go by " "It's been a hard Day at the office" "under the pump a long way out"
  19. Hahaha yeah Grant Dixon needs to get rid of some slow-ones. Qld probably in FULL lock-down next week lol No I know who you mean. Don't forget the success with Black'sA Fake. Nat's no flash in the pan ya know.lol. That retention barn used for 2 days (pre-post 48 hours for all MIRACLE MILE ) runners compulsory , (because race worth $1mill) and will be used for the Interdominion GF runners at Menangle in the Spring-time too. I think it's a great idea.!!! stops any form of raceday eve/ or raceday dodgey treatments /temptations and keeps the great races as clean as whistle. No one accused of cheating. excellent. Spankem passed it (the Barn) ok , and went 1.47 still 2 years ago ?? All good with All Stars . no probs.
  20. The Stewards will be still scratching their heads.? just share another example to finish this story. The ex-pat kiwi Jack TRAINOR had 6 horses in at Menangle last night. Only ONE horse on the night , beat any of those 6 home. Grand old FFAer 'Double Encounter' beating 2 of Jack's back into 2nd and 3rd in a sizzling 1.50.7 mile. Otherwise he had the THREE winners (with a Quinella one race) to continue the amazing stable form. quite brilliant. GRIMSON from the same 'Barn' (pretty much a training partner of Trainor) had placegetters too. chasing home the brilliant Spellbound in 1.50.1. with his 3 horses....very quick. The 'funny bit' I like is, after heaps of placings behind his many Stablemates at the McCarthy/ Craig Cross 'Super best in OZ stable' last year , the horse POCKET OF TERROR has left that barn to join Trainor recently , and the young bloke WON Last night with him , and was knocking off McCarthy horses 'Cup class' ex-new zealanders CASH AND FLOW and STAR GALLARIA!!. crazy times. so the McCarthy super-stable is being knocked off by their outcast 'old' horses now? !! extroadinary.!...lol. P.S In fairness to kiwi Cross/McCarthy stable, they did train Pocket of Terror to 6 wins from 30 starts last year, often chasing home his many stable-mates too. so not too shabby.
  21. Good NZ clean-up tonight Brodster. ! Spellbound and Mighty Flying Art in Syd. and Krug (Redcliffe Derby ) and LL COOL J (Redcliffe Cup) in Brisbane . LL COOL J won 3 of his last 4 starts in NZ last year for Suzanne and Tony Herlihy , so must be pretty expensive sale to Oz. so is another good example of What you say The kiwis horses are Tops !! lol.. not improved heaps though as already going well. Good to see the aussies aren't stuffing up the good 'ground -work' put in by the kiwi horsepeople !!! lol..... they keep em going super, and beaut racing ,both countries with fine horses . bring on the Interdom !
  22. Greater Sydney forced into a 2 week lock-down at 6 o'clock tonight with 80 people with flu. . so a heap of horses had to late scratch. so now Only 3 Grimson/Trainor horses v Spellbound ....... SHE DID it !!!! well done Spellbound for Nathan Purdon and driver Ashley Hart !!!! 1.50.2 !!! 53.2 last half mile and roared past the three stablemates. wow wee. Young Ashley wins the Group3 and beats her brother Cam (who wins heaps of races) back into 3rd place. . paid $6.30 on the aussie totes !! wahoo ....look out Amazing Dream in Brisbane soon? lol........
  23. Gammalite

    krug

Well it's a Redcliffe track record tonight for KRUG . sat outside leader after tracking up 3 wide to get there .pulled away last lap. Raced away in 1.54 4 to a smashing win over a couple of NewSouthWales horses. Prevoius record was 1.55.2 mile rate. What an amazing horse.!!!!!!! Look out 'Expensive Ego' in The Rising Sun feature in a couple of weeks !!!
  24. Unfortunately Frederick near finished Sandy's career. trod on a loose shoe while leading a trial with Sandy driving at Cambridge one Sunday, and crashed, and smashed Sandy's leg which wouldn't mend well. sad turn of events. Graeme Harris was a good trainer there in the Cambridge area around that time as well. We picked up Supreme Ruler who won a few as a three year old in NZ, not much after for Harris, but he was a little shit really..lol. try and bite you all the time, just so sour. we picked him up cheap to belt around with in Qld for a while. He actually got in the NZ CUP one year ?? how I don't know. but got brought down in the big crash that took out 6 of them behind winner CAMELOT. Harris still in QLD with horses . he has a handy horse GLENEAGLE WARRIOR he still paddles around with. Gives it to Vicki Rasmussen when he wants some wins lol.... at his age harder to win these days. lol.......... 2 wins from 24 starts with Graeme training and driving. 7 wins from 16 starts when he gives it to Vicki to train for her drivers from time to time. distinct difference !!
  25. I think to answer the question Chief posted for this thread. is KEEP some of the good HORSES to race in NZ. I don't think horses necessarily improve here in Aus, the kiwis are fantastic horsepeople and get them going nicely FIRST. as with Mighty Conqueror, and way back with Village Kid even. Brian Notman ,his Akld owner /trainer had him going well (4 wins) and sold for 40k to WA which we congratulated him for at the time. Lightning Blue (Addington Interdominion and NZ Cup winner) had one start for Mike Berger at Cambridge for a WIN and sold straight away for 40k. Mike deserves heaps of credit.!!!! and endless examples of that sort of thing continue, over the years. Perth trotting has heaps of 'Rich' owners so no wonder they always picking up great kiwis. Perth the only 'saucer track ' these days Brodie. still Mark won Interdom's with Smolda and Lazarus recently anyway . !!! what a champion. And yes the Z for zorro on the freezebrand (they're doing away with freeze branding soon sadly) always marked a great horse. NZ er. some Aussies were ok though. Gammalite, Popular Alm , Pure Steel, Maori's Idol and Scotch Notch trotting spring to mind. lol...... I had 90% success with kiwis. Frederick was a lovely horse. Can't improve him on Sandy Purdon , but we got him cheap as he was always chasing around Luxury Liner , Master mood (NZ cup winners) Ben, Our Mana, Placid Victor (stablemate who won the Derbies) so his form didn't look great, but he was. so Lucks a fortune !! NZ harness racing would be all the bettor for hanging on to a few of the high performers. that would improve things slightly.
