Nothing rascist there Brodie. I think the demographic that reside in NZ and Aus are just pursuing the lifestyle they enjoy and harness racing wasn't part of it. Is to me a very local Tradition filled Sport. Racing is HUGE in Hong Kong and Bart Cummings raced Cox/Melbourne Cup winners for Hong Kong businessmen , many of whom buy heaps of horses every year to race in Hong Kong , from NZ and Oz. Very first horse i ever drove in South Auckland was for one of the loveliest persons I ever met in years of harness, and his wife in South Auckland. Lee Nandina owned by Charlie Wong, an Asian gentleman , market gardener in South Auckland, who would of raced a fair few over the years, with his family. got some results but had FUN too. These days the punting entertainment is indeed for instant gratification. as you suggested. Horse racing is almost entirely for people who Love horses dearly, and can wait as a Long term project for any results. (like Karrots)

To stay healthy my friend. ! some medicines are better than others.
-
still think the Tab is obligated to look after their clients privacy. However they should also be obligated to answer queries regarding a legitimate RIU or steward investigation. AND they do, as far as I know.
-
thanks Karrots , yeah Pokie Bear seem to think everyone 'doing their Jobs' is guilty of malpractice , which is ridiculous . press report (as the Galah says) , RIU investigate , drivers drive. what's the problem ? No good sticking up for people like Kerr , who have let the side down. These things happen , lots of gambling junkies out there lol.... , Brodie wants to turn over a million per annum lol.., no wonder barred/banned , whatever . Whatever happened to the fun ?? I still enjoy it . and you too obviously !. looking forward to some more great racing soon !!!
-
Thanks Ranga yes . 4 lovely people died of the 7 that contracted the Hendra virus in Queensland. Was like a mini Covid warning. Quite a number of horses died from the Flying Fox virus. A vaccination was developed many years later in 2012. For Horses !!! gad it didn't get any worse in people. EVERY night , great flights of Flying Foxes still glide over the Brisbane suburbs to feeding grounds , then back to their roosts. I hope every night, they don't stop over in a HORSE Feed Bin somewhere on their travels?

The great Vo Rogue ! there's a memory. his trainer Vic Rail died of Hendra virus, contracted from his horses. I was helping with autopsy of a few of Vic's horses when we found out It Killed People. Bit of a scary moment back in 1994 . was like a covid type death and we were isolated for 3 days. very scary.

He must of had some wins and some losses. YES , that is an enormous amount and even Kerry Packer wouldn't of been happy with that.! sounds worse than my $500 per week budget lol...... Hey what if they (RIU) knew of these bets. ? Are they intitled to shut down his work as trainer ? as far as they know he is collecting training fees for real owners on real horses . How would the bets 'Give away' the deception ??
-
Love your thoughts there Chief. would of been great for the 50 people Kerr has effected to of got the money first. Just doesn't happen like that. People Lie. They got money from grannie. Kerr could say anything. what would they do ? take all horses off him immeadiately he has a bet anywhere? he was shrewd. I know you want the RIU to be shrewder. But it's tough when people aren't honest. i don't think Betting companies should report to RIU at all. !!!!!!! Privacy please. The RIU need to ask betting companies for records of something they are investigating. (e.g like for Kerr's owners, or the QLD case with Rassmussen after dodgey race and betting , etc) I know what you are trying to say , and I agree would be great. But there are a LOT OF BETS. what if someone in the KRUG camp put 10k on Krug overseas.? Is that betting agency spose to ring the RIU and say "Hey there's a 10k bet on KRUG !! look out for trouble !!" no, ain't gunna happen. Kerr might of been betting on gallopers in large pools !!!! not gunna show up individually. Why report him? Plenty of addict gamblers are gambling everyday. Report them all you say ?? com'on ....
-
The stewards Identify a suspicious race obviously. Driving tactics etc, THEN the betting into that race is examined. Very High Profile trainer Vicki Rassmussen got a year DQ , and partner leading driver Shane Graham 2 years from an odd $3000 bet on a runner in a midweek not long ago. The bet came from a disgraced former Trainer . They weren't even the ones betting. Stewards can do their job Chief !! do you want betting agencies to snitch on their customers to the RIU ??? that's just silly. like I say , they can use their missus name or whatever anyway, for the account. It's ONLY when a dodgey race happens (in the view of the stewards) or someone reports something like Kerr's owners , that a 'MISadventure ' has taken place. Otherwise just Brodie having a bet ? report to RIU lol?????
-
The issue was about the complaints from disgruntled stable owners ?, being ripped off in the way they were. Surely the money was WELL SPENT by then? (time when RIU becomes involved) Before these complaints are raised , surely the RIU has No right to question someone on what they do with their training fees, money from all sources.? Lot's of trainers and Jockeys probably have 'Offshore' accounts I imagine. The RIU can't question every one with an account where they got the money ?grandma inheritence lol???? They Can however use the Betting trends and bets placed to use as evidence in race Fixing allegations.
-
In today's world with the amount of on-line identities and dishonesty, do you really think people are being honest all the time Chief ? a lot of track covering must go on ? you and I and the nice folk at BOAY probably respectful and honest , but while you are committing FRAUD , more deceptive measures are applied I would think? Sometimes more than one Bad Egg in a basket too.
-
hahahaha yeah right !! like Brodie lol

Have you ever heard of having an Alias to do certain things? like Gambling with other peoples' money meant for something else (like share's in a horse) or writing to a forum ? oh wait hang on ?!...............
-
Absolutely ! These addict gamblers (with cash from Fraud and deception) are cold, calculated actions, designed ONLY for personal gain , and no thought of the loss or occurances to others because of their actions. Just Like compulsive shop-lifters or drug sellers. Calculated actions. And not worthy of Sympathy or excuses as these are completely NON Necessary actions. (by anyone) Mental health issues, IMO, would be had more by the victims ! also addicts that actually 'do something' that effects their brain, so therefore by definition are mentally effected. e.g Alcoholic, or a Druggie actually consuming the product from those calculating criminal actions. Tabs and betting agencies don't know where people get their money from , Guy has no Priors? not convicted yet?

Think I need that advice Galah . Brisbane Lions just won the AFL womens Grand Final. ! fantastic, (except I had Adelaide tickets all through the season at 6-1 and they were hot fav today) oh dear........ Then thought ok can get all that back on Verry Elleegant , the grand NZ mare in the Queen Elizabeth today as thought there was an obvious form change when she beat Addeyebb last start in the Ranvet. Wrong !! there goes another 350 lol... Forgotten Highway even being in a NZ Cup on just 6 career wins , seems a joke. must of been paying $100 against Allstars???
-
The Queen Elizabeth Stakes has been won for a second time by the Pommie visitor ADDYEBB this afternoon. He also beat VE last year in the $4mill race. Verry Elleegant tried very hard and after pulling very hard early in the contest and throwing her head around, and getting shuffled back, she still raced up there 4 wide, to try and haul in Addyebb as they came into home straight. The addition of blinkers probably helped him stave off her challenge. Verry Elleegant did NZ proud !!!, and picked up 3/4 of $million for second. (and she did beat Addyebb in the Ranvet last start). What a courageous horse she is.
-
I hope you are true there Chief. Another great result hopefully. I thought the bloke was banned from betting in NZ? Therefore someone was dealing/ dealt with Kerr gambling issue? How would the RIU keep up with gambling addicts going overseas to bet? trace on computer maybe but is that legal? Forgotten Highway 30 starts for 6 wins prior to Sept 2019 for the Kerr stable. Past year and a half racing in the Wild west WA 24 starts for 6 wins . so about the same record for him overall.

Don't worry that is just scare mongering that is trying to build a hateful picture. Pups in a litter all look the same except for the occasional 'runt', the last one out, who usually gets special care. (any dog breed) From what I've seen the dogs (greys) are treated well and Love to Run !! people have fun , the dogs have fun. I have never raced one but was involved in vet after harness racing and we homed many dogs that weren't able to race. I picked up heaps for 'student vets' to spey/ castrate as practise for their careers and GAP (greyhound Adoption Program) found people to take them on afterthat. Also some great surgeons saved some , Dr Richard Eaton-Wells every day fixing toes and breaks in surgery and I found the greyhound folk to be very caring. Good Luck for a bright racing future.

NSW shut down 2016 for only three months, after a live baiting scandal caused outrage. But with so many people's livelihoods effected a better option was introduced with the forming of a NSW Greyhound Reform Panel, which made 122 recommendations to 'clean-up' the industry. 121 were actioned. Since then NSW has actually run an annual $1,000,000 race chase since 2018 (3 times now) so with that sort of prize up for grabs (qualifying around all the regional centres) the dogs are going bigger than ever NSW.

Think Sundees Son is Shoo-in already Karrots , and you are on the money. You win the big 3 x NZ Group 1's and you 'are the best'. Sundee's Son already taken home the Dominion Hcp in Nov, and the National Trot on New-years eve. Just needs the Rowe Cup to complete the set for a grand slam !! p.s. Sundees Son is already the current Rowe Cup champion , having won it when race last run 2019.
-
Exactly thought your continued point was They won't take the big bets because 'you win' so much and too much ?? and that was costing them big money. Do you think they should only accept Losing bets?
-
Well and Good Chief , IF everything was a mathematical accurate statistic for every horse, but reality is Most cases horse ownerships are individual set -up's. Each tailored to the ownership group. The HRNZ could have a data base , but would be totally reliant on information received from The Horse rep /manager. They are Not collecting the training fees/ they are not paying the owners stakes. Every case is different. Some shareholders Pay more than others for various reasons. example Some shareholders pay nothing (I paid nothing ever, of the expenses of all the horses I have raced, as the other part owners did that while I did the work with the horses) Therefore the reality was a bloke with a 1/4 share in one , actually paid a third of the bills like feed, transport, shoeing, vet. BUT in return got No training fee bill. I just collected stake-money and had fun with the horse. Many many different scenario's like that. Silent partners? like a family or work group paying one share. not uncommon. bulk discount if a few horses in stables? , heaps of trainers have shares in their horses ? which effects the fees and stake money paid out. etc WAY to COMPLICATED for HRNZ to manage. It's up to the Syndicate manager to contact/ collect/ pay the shareholders. Imagine 4 blokes in a horse telling the HRNZ 4 different stories about their share ownership ?? Impossible. ? you have to rely on the bloke with the horse , e.g like Mr Kerr, to do the right thing . If there is actually a horse in his case lol........
-
I think you would find syndicates are registered at HRNZ already, and that is how they appear in the racebook. The HRNZ would be No Chance of controlling the everyday components and finances of the syndicate operation. Fees, shares ,etc, the figures supplied to them could easily be false and rorted as Basil suggested. The Kerr case could easily happen again even with your central registry. you need Honest Syndicate managers. Friend of mine has 1/20 in his first horse a thoroughbred . Of course he has no say whatsoever in where it races, who rides it etc, but gets an e-mail every second day, video of horse weekly, all jumpouts sent to him, and monthly account breakdown of his share , with all the bills, taxes, winnings . IIt's up to the SYNDICATE MANAGER to Look after their owners !!!!! they are busting for them to Win really ! they love happy owners. (except Kerr) Kerr just a bad egg who was only about winning himself on the Punt. and made very poor reading at start of this thread. (and not even owning up) rotten. But surely No one else could be that rotten and do that to their owners?. so hopefully a once off? and 'happy racing' can resume for All those effected now.
-
Well that sums it up well . Most owners cannot accommodate retired stock so have to look at things like riding hack for someone , or an old Macdonalds farm somewhere. alas some horses retire due to injury and/or unsoundness and with the cost of vet bills and agistment being high , the trip to the knackery is often the option used. The trainers have a lot of horses pre-racing , and in racing to worry about 24 hours/day. the owner has the responsibility post race career. In Australia , the bulk of racing is done at city Metro State capitals tracks , and a lucky 'Out' here for owners was to sell them off cheaply to the rural places that race (slower) like in the back blocks of NSW and SA usually . and those areas have farms too , where they can run out in huge acrerage when racing days complete. seems to work well.
