Looks like you haven't made these Amatuer races non tote yet to avoid all this trouble. as Nowornever once said maybe it's so you can back Ms Wigg who seems to win all these type of races. he was right too and she took the win again. Any driver Not in the correct position at the start should be fined. I even remember Mark Purdon getting fined for hanging back once , when drawn high on the second row lol. Even the greatest can go astray sometimes 😁 They had that time when the 2 HOPE trained horses starting numbers 5 and 6 in the score up but the 6 scored up INSIDE the 5 and the race was run. that was quite comical that no-one noticed (horse or starter) in the score-up 😂

absolutely true. for the routine slow class horses meetings. I go along 2 or 3 times a year in QLD. Saturday night had a fairly mild numbered crowd , even with Leap To Fame racing. The day meetings are incredibly quiet , with most horses not even having their owners attending it seems. It's just a business for the Trainers and their staff to operate and compete at as a sport. Up in the grandstand . just a handful of people. I asked one of the officials why no-one here? since most (nearly all) of the suburban TAB outlets have closed the past 3 years. His answer was , we don't want them at the track . Ladbrokes (the Main sponsor ) want them at home hammering their keyboard with bets rather than using the TAB. they spend Way more money that way. And the cost of Security is nil now as it was a huge expense before ( and tote staff, bar staff , etc) Security at sports events is a huge expense like at the footy and that. and indeed the young lass that took my order for a beef roll for lunch , then dashed around to the bar (not far from the eats) when I approached it , as she was serving the drinks as well !! 😳 that's how quiet it is . the food orders girl also serves the bar. The racing was still quite good with amazing horsemen out on the track , so still very hard to Win a Race.

you wrapped that 6 points up like an old bit of gum mate. Very well done. Call Me Now too slick in the slop ⛈️. Masterly was trained by Paul Nairn in NZ just last summer I see . and See he won 4 of his last 10 starts too for the great Trainer of trotters as well . very nice. Will be hard to beat NZ old mate 'OscarB' this week though lol 😎 An interesting thing from that 1995 Trotting Grand Final at Addington was the red Hot favourite, after Winning both his heats impressively, was DAVID MOSS. Maurice McKendry driving . But isn't he was a South Island horse? anyway DAVID MOSS got held up along the inner after drawing one on the 2nd line for the Grand Final and ran 4th. He went to Australia and won 3 out of 4 starts he had there , and this was enough for DAVID MOSS to be voted Australian Trotter of the year 1995 😂. Aussie trotters must of been pretty crappy 🙄 . New Zealand trotters Won all 10 of the Trotting Grand Finals All through the 1990's . a Fantastic Achievement.

you're only a youngster Ranga. plenty of drive in you yet. Join the local cricket Club if you want to chew your Wrigley's. Tubby Taylor, Warnie, Waugh 's never seen without some lol . Here's one for you in photo my friend . Having drawn MASTERLY for this Saturday night. Might spring memories of a dreary Wet Addington a long time ago when this horse beat not one , but 2 Interdominion Trot Grand Final Winners into the placings. 1/ Can you name this trotter, driver, trainer .? 2/ The 2 Stablemates that ran 2nd and 3rd were both Grand Final Winners too? . Whatta trifecta of Greatness !!! Anyone can answer to get points ahead of Ranga, if they're up to the challenge . 😁

Ranga leads the BOAY Interdominion Competition points 14 - 0 so far. So in an endeavour to get some BOAY slow beginners 'off the mark' we will use the greatest Mark of all (Mark Purdon ) to earn someone someone some points. Mark part owns and trains the NZ star trotter OSCAR BONAVENA . a huge chance in the trotting Interdominion. In the field Race listed above OscarB should be able to 'clean up' local QLD opposition no trouble at all. QLD very weak as far as trotters go. Oscar B had a Summer campaign in Aus that netted 2 wins from 5 starts in Vic and NSW when driven by the late great Greg Sugars for a win and ex-pat NZ great Anthony Butt in another. For the BOAY Comp , I will Quinella OSCAR Bonavena with your runner and the Quinella Divvie will be your points scored at the completion of the race. . here's your runner to Quinella with him as your alter Ego rep 😉. Race 4 Albion Sat night at 8.57 NZ time. TAB4ever gets number 1. as blazes about the place like a 'Fireball' lol. Rangatira gets the number 3. a great old kiwi horse he would of seen many times. and Ranga 'Masterly' has the lead. Brodster gets number number 5 as Loves to Gun down the TAb entain ATC HRNZ + anyone in the firing line😎 NoworNever gets number 7 as Not as Promised a three barrelled name statement , just like himself. Blackie gets number 9 as doesn't mind a 'Victory' so can Victree deliver. The Galah on number 10. he is a zealous runner and birds have spurs don't they? for mating or defending territory 😁 Chief on number 12 , probably won't get a run. The class of field a bit seemingly a bit too strong for him 😋 Gamma lucky 13 . G is for Goodness gracious Gamma and Great Galloping Gus too. (Hopefully minus the gallop bit ) ANYone is Welcome to Enter Just POST your Quinella pick numbers here ( before the race lol) and you are in with a chance for points. Points will be allocated for the Placegetters as well. (The Hardy competitors above with a runner, are also welcome to enter their own Quinella selection of course ) POST 2 Horse Numbers here is all you need to do to enter . race 4 Albion Sat.

Good to see Chief has come out of oblivion to try and get involved in the Interdominion .😁 Here we have the Trotters field for this Saturday night Albion, of horses trying to get into the Interdom heats. we will use this race for the BOAY Interdominion Competition this week. I may have to allocate the runners if the BOAY trotting stalwarts are unable to pick the Quinella to gain points 🤣. Chief's 'Alter Ego' 😉 from NZ No 12 in the below race, has had a few Issues , and gone cranky with manners, BUT after 10 trials this year (where he galloped madly everytime nearly) , he's gone through 2 more trainers and Lo and Behold some new trainer has miracles up, and has got him to Trot all the way and he qualified the other day at the trials to race from the mobile once again. Alas he is balloted out as Emergency but great to see him still having a crack at making it too the July Interdominion.😋 Form Horse Trainer Other Eng. nearly. behind the winner 1999 Special Force (Todd McFarlane) trotted in AFRICA (CJ Defilippi )2nd, PRIDE OF PETITE (Marky)4th, SUNDONS WAY (TonyH ) 7th, SUNNY ACTION (big Barry driving for little brother) 8th. Pride Of Petite had run 4th the Previous year as well with Mark driving , But his Stablemate BUSTER HANOVER won the final (with brother-in-law Tony Herlihy driving) . They were both off the backmark of 30m at Harold Park too, so was a supreme effort to run 1st and 4th from back there. Pride of Petite one of the Best Handicap achievers of all time though , getting into the Interdominion HAll of FAME with a Pair of Grand Final Magnificent Victories herself off 30m at Moonee Valley 1996 (driven by Mark) and a hefty 40m at Adelaide Globe Derby Park 1997 (driven by Tony ) defeating the local hero Wagon Apollo of Graeme Lang's both times. here she is . Pride of Petite had 6 of her 8 foals get to the races but were only battlers who scratched about a long time to get just 2 to 3 wins each roughly. nothing like their sensational mother.

A five star performance again from Ranga , sweeps up the 8 points. very well done !! If someone names a horse Rangatira it would go out favourite in the Interdominion on that form. What a great night of racing that was in 2001. The NZ Cup Winner Yulestar turned up to demolish them in the Final after a couple of 2nd placings in the heats. the great Courage Under Fire not even close to beating him . Jim Smith's old trotter Mountain Gold, that he sold to Barry Purdon finished a fine 2nd to Take A Moment in the trot Grand final final. 3rd home was Special Force to round out the NZ Trifecta 💰💰💰👍 . Special Force a fine Trotter who himself had WON the Interdominion Trot Final at Auckland 2 years earlier 1999 for trainer Dave McGowan and driver Todd McFarlane . here he goes winning at Alexandra Park with someone beating Marky boy for a change . Special Force. (Mark Purdon's 4 runners were 2nd ,4th, 7th , and 8th) with Mountain Gold 5th for Jim blocked in 3 back the fence as the chance of Interdominion Glory blocked along with him sadly 😪 )

Day 2 Horse another NZ ripper. Points update : (Day 1 comp points : Rangatira 6 points with a clean sweep of the 6 answers ) With LEAP TO FAME winning the last Albion Park Interdominion Grand Final , and a Red hot favourite to repeat next month, we can find a better NZ result from earlier on at Albion Park. Todays horse seen here winning was part of a NZ Bred First 4. 1/ Who is todays winning horse and driver in photo ? 2/ 2nd home was a double heat winner bred in NZ , out of mare RAIN GIRL, who raced in a grand Final herself behind Gammalite at Auckland. 3rd home was a NZ trained and driven horses by a Pair of Famous Brothers . Can you name the Brothers ? Clue = they won the Trotting Grand Final very easily this same night. Who might that trotter of been ? n.b NZ trained trotters ran a terrific trifecta in a dominant display 3/ Name the 4th horse ? sorry he only got his nose in the photo 😁 . clue = a NZ champ who was series hot favourite and I think this stallion was undefeated in NZ , and won a swag in Aus after. This was as close as he got in 3 Grand Finals attempts though, which damaged his reputation a bit , trying to Win the greatest race there is for his CV.

Tassie worse off then NZ. with the cost of everything these days , they have gone completely broke. Long time ago since Boony and Punter Ponting carried the place in the cricket 😂. (33% of adult Tasmanians already live on a pension of one type or another) I just did a small bit on Tassie horse in the BOAY harness section that was repping for NZ winning the Interdominion . Stanley Rio. my dad went to NZ with Halwes (a Top Tassie horse like Stanley Rio ) in the 60's as the Farrier, which is how I come to be in NZ for some years. HALWES won his Interdominion heats at Alexandra Park in track record times but scratched from the final in a Bookie sting. HALWES won the Miracle Mile in Sydney 3 weeks later 😁. anyway , back to Tassie and > with losing $400,000,000 cost blowout on the 'Spirit of Tasmania 'ferries ( the Bass Strait ones between Tas and Vic) the government has gone belly up and can't afford the New Stadium (would be near a billion?) the current State Liberal gov promised to build to before 2027 when Tas is supposed to enter the AFL competition. it's just total chaos with their budget now. So last week they had a VOTE of NO CONFIDENCE in the leader !!! the 'Aye's' won 15-14 , so now they are facing another election . Labor have swept the votes in the Federal Parliament Canberra in the recent national election. so guess Labor will win easy Tasmania and take up the challenge of a completely broken (broke) place? . whatta mess.

Also on an Interdominion flavour. Just now at Albion Park young Riley Butt , son of ex-pat Lyell Creek trainer Tim Butt trained the winner Bottecelli. Was only going to run second but the Long Odds on favourite JillibyGiddy Jumped the dark Shadow of the large floodlight Pole 100m out.🙄 Lucky he didn't do a Liquid Lightning NZ Derby trick ? The previous race TAYLAD TO USE from the North Island having his 2nd start for Grant won easy. Last week the Punters got burnt when he ran 4th first up at $2.40. They didn't back up today and he went from $2.40 opening out to $3.50 lol. The Trot field is out for next Saturday night too with Nz champ Oscar B v GUS a big highlight as they prepare for the Interdom next month. Sanderson is down to drive Oscar B and Rubira NZ for Marky on Saturday night. bit risky putting him on lol. but he might fluke it like he just did on Botticelli for Riley Butt 🤣

Yep , foaled in Tasmania (like both George and John in earlier years before shifting to Canterbury. Roydon Lodge? Owner Wayne Francis who was thirds in ownership with George and John ( tragically died at Young age 56 cancer) in blue suit seen with George after winning the 1976 NZ Cup. and then the win here at this years venue of Albion Park Brisbane when we went the wrong way round. Corrected a couple of years after Stanley Rio had won here. Wayne Francis became a NZ HALL of Famer with helping establish Nevele R and Spreydon Lodge, to set up Standardbred breeding for years to come. Many horses with the FRANCO in front of their names . Well done Ranga !!!

Here's the race. !! anyone can have a crack . Even galloping folk are most welcome. Points for picking place getters, Quinella, or BIG points if you nail the Trifecta. Post your 3 (Three ONLY please) numbers of your selections here. The Race is Race 8 Menangle today run at 7..48 NZ time. A true Interdominion flavour to it with 6 old beautiful horses that have won in NZ as well as OZ. (marked with a NZ beside their name in this field ) they are now in the twilight of their careers but still toughing it out on a slow Tuesday , giving it their best shot. 1 80959 WAVETHEBILL NZ KerryAnn Morris Lochie Painting (C,3) FR1 2 88085 HES A MEISTER NZ Chris Judd Cameron Hart FR2 3 42758 AMERICAN HAMMER NZ David Aiken Bailey McDonough FR3 4 53762 RED REACTOR NZ Ian Wilson Jim Douglass FR4 5 89976 TINDER SURPRISE NZ J A Rando, M J Rando SCRATCHED SCR 6 44943 PROMISING Leon Jurd Will Rixon FR5 7 11476 VINKE B NZ Trevor Munday Chris Geary FR6 8 466s4 JORDY NZ Kevin Pizzuto Joshua Gallagher FR7 9 88860 CAULONIA COURAGE Troy Williams Robert Morris FR8 10 69459 SAHARA SIROCCO Trevor Munday Ashleigh Delosa (C) FR9

Todays Champion a true Interdominion horse . He is seen winning the final here for New Zealand. 1/ Who is our horse and driver ? 1/ What track are we winning at ? 2/ What is unusual about the breeding of both horse and driver 😁 . Place of birth ? 3/ Can you name his 2 fabulous stalwart owners in the photo seen after a big Win in NZ who did massive amounts for the sport in NZ.?

With the 2025 Contest coming up soon , and some great NZ reps in Republican Party in the Pacers section and Bet N Win in the Trotters > It's time for a Competition for BOAY harness racing supporters to get in and remember and respect ( and/or Learn About ) some of the Greats of the Best Race of All. I will daily put up a question or 2 , where you can earn points as we go to Find the great BOAY Interdominion Champ. In addition , if can't answer the questions as you are too young 🤣, I will Pop on a Race each day , that is being run on that day , featuring Fine NZ v Aus horses , where you can earn points as well. so look out for that race daily. The true Meaning of the Unique and Traditional and Harness racing specific INTERDOMINION is (inter =inside/between and then Dominion = NZ and Aus ) a contest inside the British dominions of New Zealand and Australia. Let's get it going and go with Horse Number 1

Don't be too harsh on him TABman . A lot of washouts and 'horse slips' and that had caused a lot of worry about some of the tracks from time to time. With Ellerslie getting all the work done on it , seems Wise to use it if State-of-the-art. A lot of money and Time and experts spent a lot of time 'Fixing 'up Ellerslie so I reckon they should race there Every week . Mainly because that's where the population base is in Auckland to attend lol 😎 mind you I've only ever been to Ellerslie, Puk'e and Arawa Park (Rotorua )where drove on once. think I threw up after lol. We needed the Chief Stipe years ago in Tassie. (to fix the surface 😎) They still race at Elwick , the trotters used too, as well, was like a ploughed field so they put a lot of the drivers up on the horses back down there , rather than 'Bog-in to the surface lol. 🤣 so a few saddle pacers won ok. my dad said he won in the saddle his first race at age 13 as was light as a sparrow, during the war years. here's grand-dad winning a race at Elwick in this amazing old photo. ( Elwick,Hobart is the Tas equal of Ellerslie )

you often say this Brodster, But you don't say how they can improve ? What should they be doing with the funding Entain has provided ? New races and assorted things s like that seemed a good idea to me. spend it while you have got it . you say harness only benefits for 5 years. What should they do after that time then ? (I would tinker with the actual racing itself if in charge lol.😂. If they want to make the Invercargill Cup a Group 1 for $100,000 for example, (which also drew BOAY criticism at the time for wasting funds) I thought it was good as gave the locals a chance to WIN Big Bucks with their Best pacers. (a bit like the Golden Gate initiative at Alex Park gave regular folk with regular horses a chance at big bucks , Unhinged Nigel even WON one of them . great stuff ) Your man Carter from Canterbury far too good for the Southerners though so mugged the Invercargill Cup money with Krug and Republican Party anyway. so the locals can't win their own race. I would make it a stand and plonk winners off 10m . This has what has slipped in NZ for a few years. The Handicap. Sundee's Son Lazarus Copy That and even bloody SWAYZEE 'Gifted' the big races (Dominion, Rowe,NZ Cup etc) as after winning them once. were NOT given the 10m or 20m handicap , so Easily won them a second time . Swayzee might be coming back for 3rd NZ Cup shortly ? just silly giving it to him. put him on 20m 👍😎 To Give Others a Chance handicap the winners . as they have done for 100 years previously. you need more than One Winner and you especially need all the participants to Have a chance of winning. . This keeps ALL Trainers and owners interested in competing in these races too. The interest will drop away otherwise.

What an excellent collection of ideas and events. Hope the Colonel can recover. So many small businesses have collapsed the last few years with the cost of staff and shop rent especially hard to manage. The Cost of living far exceeded the inflation rate , with the cost of 'everything' escalating all the time. (luckily my wife and I sold our local small business we had for 7 years , about 7 years ago to the Chinese ,so I semi-retired, just very recently the Chinaman shut the door for the last time actually , a sign of the times 🙄) Brodie and I discussed previously a few times what the costs of racing/training a horse these days are, and realized the folly of doing so , even though reasonably well off. I would want to do the horse myself but feel too old to get back into it now as a participant lol. Plus the many horses I trained in my prime before marriage, we just tried to 'break even' for the regular people owners we had. none of the horses were stars and even if could get just a second placing each month , at least the horse broke even from it's 4 starts that month. It was a Tough Battle. I've always been surrounded by some of the best Horse people on the Planet. young Herlihy and MarkyP while in Nz ,Vinnie Knight and JimmyO in Victoria, and some amazing families like Dixon's, Rasmussen and McMullen in QLD . Feel like I walked in horse heaven mixing it up with these fine people. Anyway HEARTY congrats to you , racing both gallopers and harness horses I believe from this forum. Supporting both Codes and enjoying yourself no end . Up the Karaka Day !! 🤣😂 Today is public holiday Kings Birthday in Vic and NSW. wonder if it is in NZ too? Stupid stupid QLD changed our Kings B'day holiday to Oct. WTF. and we don't even have Daylight Saving at all. talk about backward state lol. My wife and I used to go to the Brisbane Cup run this Very day (when queens b'day holiday Monday) every year as our galloping outing. but they changed it. so we go No more, and is gorgeous day today. and nothing on. spose do have BOAY and Collingwood v Dee's at the MCG AFL (80,000 crowd today) on tele for a bit of entertainment.

yes I like Bet N Win. he has had one start here in Brisvegas and won too. so hope he can win for NZ. well worth a saver by me. thanks for the tip. Arcee Phoenix is a Victorian who has won 3 of his 5 starts this year , but all over Sprint distances. He's not a stayer and will get mugged in Brisbane. (in the final over distance, might win a heat though ? 🤔) Pete McMullen is a farrier himself and has GUS right. Gus is NZ-bred Majestic Son so is a real ripper. Last Winter GUS had a 10 start campaign , and bolted in 7 times including our Group2 Championship, but broke the other 3 times 🙄. He won over the Interdom distance in the final by 4 lengths too. He is gunna be real tough to beat.
-
haha someone should pay you $30 just to consider backing those 'one win per year' horses. 😆. good to see someone supporting them though but not hard to see why 90% of people punting on these things lose their money. I've got a special for you Mr Galah . you're a good judge who does know a good horse when you see one ,that is actually worth investing on. 100-1 Leap To Fame. you're a big chance. He won brilliantly last night yet again . burying them off starting off a 30m handicap over the short 2100m . you're asking how do we get 100-1. ? well I went along last night to see him go and Grant said he has the winner of the Rising Sun as well . FATE AWAITS. he won quite brilliantly last night too. ( and won this time last year in 1.50 as a 2 year-old) he is certainly the real deal. Our Best trainer driver here Pete McMullen also won with Fast trotter GUS. Gus waltzing away from them in a 2100m stand off 30m as well. Not an easy feat by any stretch of the imagination. Pete said he has him 'cherry ripe for the Interdominion' trot home town advantage next month. Make no mistake, without the defending Champion The Locomotive nor Keayang Zahara attending this Interdom Trot , he is a huge chance. so there you go. I've only put a tenner on so far to win 1000 but will likely take more. ( plus some Emma Stewart and the Janitor savers) Fate Awaits ($7.00 in the Rising Sun July5th) x GUS ($11.00 for the Interdomion trot Grand Final July 19th) into Leap To Fame ( $1.30 for the Interdominion Pacers Grand Final July 19th) 7 x 11 x 1.3 = 100-1 riding on Leap To Fame . you won't get that everyday 😆. our winning Fate Awaits lol 😉💰 don't say I don't look after you . better keep it quiet from the Brodster though 😉.

JMac annoying me today Chief. I Had Zarastro in the Comp at good odds and Jmac nailed it right on the line with Joliestar in the K-S Cup, and then straight after I had BEST BET and a actual bet Bet on MOVING OUT (JMac riding) in the Group 1 Oaks, and she flashed home late (for bloody 4th) So Jmac got it wrong both times 🙄. What's wrong with the bloke ? 😂
-
Velocious no good Chief. But some kiwi trainers have the QLD Derby favourite in a few minutes time. Emma Lee and David Browne are saddling up STATUARIO at 5-1. bit of luck and he nearly wins
-
things are dire mate. The Galah and others have often pointed out the declining numbers racing as a main issue. That to me is the thing we need to address with haste. No Participants = No Sport. I do totally admire that you want to get a Bet on to help out (and line your pockets) great spirit of adventure. The bottom line is you need Participants first, Races 2nd and Revenue 3rd. Queensland and Victoria operate at a Revenue Loss . Does anyone seriously bet on them ? no. I don't bet on them and I'm a big fan. The thing is they still operate because we get Sponsor's, and PAtron's , and Stalwarts and Slot races and all sorts of inspired ideas to keep the SPORT going. It's a Sport , people want to play. Do you shut your local GOLF course when memberships drop off and no-one is 'Betting ' on the players ?? no . They get off their bums and get money from whatever source is available. ENtain helped harness no end and yet you hate it. Brad Steele happy with it . and the participants. All you blokes on these forums Counting runners and Revenue every 2nd week is No help at all. Race a Horse would help !!! like they do in Queensland. People here still racing a horse (or 3) and KEEPING the Game going. (for now)
