  1. Well you just have to race who turns up. Just because it's not 14 doesn't mean the end of the world. It does for Punters like Brodster and NoworNever. but to HRNZ it doesn't . ( BTW Gaza strip is more like the end of the world IMO lol πŸ˜‰) WHY should Competitors get LESS Prizemoney for feature races , just because the number of starters you want doesn't turn up ?? that doesn't make sense Mr Galah. last week the there was just 5 starters (in a South Island race perish the thought ) that was the feature races of the day and named the Southern Trotting Oaks . worth about 22k the winner picked up near 14k. So you're saying Don't have the race ? because of number of starters . ? what about the connections of the winner ? A John Dunn filly who the owners were probably delighted to win a feature Oaks. ? If you don't have these races , they will CEASE to Exist. a sad day. keeping the 2 and 3 year olds 'motivated ' ( you know what I mean the owners and trainers that SET HORSES for these races these days ) is Important.
  2. Think you're living in the past a bit , when 2 yearold trots were just Non-tote run before the race program. This century the leading stables are excellent at getting young horses to the races. I guess I have to Grant you leeway as the South Island with it's Cold weather , has always been notoriously slow at getting horses to the races at a young age. NEWS FLASH : Mr Galah . The season dates changed . Is now excellent to get your 2 year-old to the races this time of year before they turn 3 on January 1st. HRNZ (and ALL the Aus states have been excellent at running SIRES Stakes racing for 2 , 3 ( and in Aus 4 year olds as well) this is always Super important. You also have the excellent Harness Millions and great stuff like that. Don't talk about Owners like they're stupid . They want their horses at the races at an early age , and your leading trainers ARE CAPABLE of doing this . Counterproductive ???? that's just rubbish mate 🀣. (well I guess it's counterproductive to those that can't train as well as Barry πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚, but only Mark is better and he has the same Roy bloodlines ? πŸ˜πŸ†πŸ’° Barry Purdon/Phelan had MEANT TO BE and a couple of other young trotters earning Big money last year. As does the Dunn's and Hope's (great trainers of young 2 and 3 year old trotters) and their Owners GET a QUID. Great trainers getting great results the pacing section see's Stonewall keen to get Amongst these HUGE 2 year old pacing racing. Telfers are great trainers getting the YOUNGSTERS going , (Like Barry/Phelan and Ray Green in the North) and so get a Lot of Wins. Marketplace was terrific last season as 2 yearold (with the Choc's as well pushing him hard) Allstars . Heres another Example I would think if you Phone the Stonewall Bloke that paid $300,000 for 2 yearlings each, early this year at record prices , he will be expecting them to hit the track and wwwwwwin as 2 year olds.? He won't be just 'popping them in the paddock' . Like your good old days until they're 4 . πŸ€£πŸ˜‰ of course they' lol be pushing them . Mad if they don't . They're tough well bred horses. Buy a yearling . race at 2 . All the leading Aus barns do that too. You are ignoring the real REALITY my friend. Haven't you watched the trends this century ? (Just as a small note for you, I used to qualify my horses in NZ as a late 2 yearold. But the weather turned to nasty by Winter when the season ended , so they were spelled un-raced usually, and I raced them in Maiden 3 year olds in the summer when horses are easier to work/train and the enjoyment is much better. Now with the Season date Change to the Normal year Calender ( A TRULY EXCELLENT DEVELOPEMENT) you can race your 2 year-old towards the end of the year EVERY Season , at the end of the year now. No excuses!!! . It has been the major breakthrough the Sport Needed )
  3. It's common for the 2 year old trotters Mikey. to run for good prizemoney these days. In your 4 horse field Race 1 this Friday is a good filly of Nathan Williamsons. Duchess Maria. All 4 of her races she has won so far. All 4 were at $45,000 prizemoney for those races , where she got about $27k for each win. (Including defeating the Aussie Raider Kyvalley Ray who won the harness millions last week ) So her career sits at $110,000 earnings already which is deserving of the best 2 yearold in the country. πŸ‘πŸ† The races were at Invercargill , Auckland and 2 at Addington with 5, 7, 7 and 6 runners . this weeks field is smaller as is restricted to Fillies only. she was beating the colts lately. Is amazing money for 2 yearold trotters !!, but the Pacers races for double that a lot of the time πŸ€”. Think of it as great encouragement to get owners buying good trot breeds that will get to the track at an early age , because they can get some great monetary reward . and race from a mobile start regularly. 2 great things πŸ‘πŸ’° Is WAY better than waiting to 4 as a maiden racing for 9k in a 14- 18 horse field on a Grass track somewhere πŸ€£πŸ˜‰ and getting skittled every 2nd start lol. πŸ˜‚ and racing from those standing starts that are thwart with 'danger'. and wreck a horses confidence quite often. Even champ John Dunn has problems at times, so shows how tricky it really is.
  4. well the 3rd place was different when used to seeing him win I guess. But the first 2 Placegetters last night in Vic Cup had good draws and have been in scintillating form themselves. I tipped Hi Mynameisjeff straight out on this thread above as has been going 1.49 lately , and he nearly stole the race but Kingman who also has been running big 1.53 wins ( 3 times lately over 2300m) and with Australia's best trainer driver was always going to be hard to beat. Luke McCarthy is a Mark Purdon 'clone' really. I hope Leap To Fame still goes to NZ. he would add some spice to the Cup , even though Republican Party looks like he deserves this Big win after several great runs over past year. (including the dominant 3200m stand Auckland Cup) the Interdominion type contests (Aus v NZ) are just so good as always. A highlight of the sport.
  5. got off early ok . round to the death yet again. just takes a toll in the end. But Luke McCarthy is the best in Australia , like Mark P has been in NZ, so beat him easy in the end. KINGMAN is the King of the Victoria Cup this time round. Leap To Fame being a 6 year old stallion now , will be starting to get a bit cunning at times too soon. Republican Party would beat him in NZ Cup the way they are both running Currently.
  6. there is so much to that , it involves chapters rather than sentences. the Pro's and Con's of Syndication. Kerr was a good con there in NZ . but an isolated case. Usually Micro shares involve people (micro-share holders) getting a Mass e-mail once a week , with a small video of the horse. " oh look here he/she is going out for a jog , coming along nicely" . This is even the case for the common 20 share horses. People are conned into that share because a 1/20th share gets your name in the Racebook. so they think they are real owner (who can make decisions regarding the horses career ) THEY CANNOT. it's a con. Of course the Galloping world is Full of such cases. But in harness , the horses are just not worth that much , and race for peanuts. 64 owners is ludicrous to be honest. Much much much better to syndicate horses to Family members and people you KNOW , and turn it into a fun family experience. Exactly what the great man Nigel Armstrong does there in NZ. is a much better experience. The syndicate manager can take care of the owners , and take care of the bill payments etc. and all the fun things involved in racing a horse can happen. I used to get my owners to come along Sundays and have Family photo's with their horses and take off em' for a grass pick and that . they loved it . A family pet almost. 150th of a 10th share ?? . with dozens of strangers ?? automatic bank deductions for costs ?? you've got to be kidding ?? if it has come to that for harness to survive NZ . no bloody way. At least TOP NZ harness men Tony Herlihy and Barry Purdon put their wives in with a share in a lot of their horses with family and friends , and do it properly to make it a fun experience , as opposed to a micro-shares money grab like the case on this thread.
  7. Your post itself is aggressive enough. showing a few of the Pro's and Con's of micro-Syndicate racing. mainly the 'Con's'.πŸ˜‰ Having 62 owners involved in a matter of hours ? is enough room for error as it is. when you wouldn't know the history of those characters , while just trying to cover a few of Your 'Fees'. People don't get on that well Andrew. and the experience of racing is spose to be Fun. you only have to look at how they talk about , and to each other on these racing forums 🀣 dead-set nasty sometimes. Your Post today not very 'warm' either with people you don't even know lol. telling people they're talking shit lol. just the sort of thing likely to pop up in the faceless micro Syndication too πŸ˜† I have a few Pro ideas that are and did work much better than silly Micro Syndication ever could . the ATC tried that sort of thing one time (ATC racing syndicates) and it failed. It's because it's a system with that many flaws you'd just put it in the CON bin.
  8. The Canterbury Classic R10 at Addington tonight Oct 17th is the next step for some to see if will be competitive in a NZ Cup. Republican Party already qualified , and a threat here too, after his solid last start win. Perhaps Barry Purdon and Scott Phelan will show their hand tonight ? Sooner The Bettor and Merlin are ready to put their best foot forward tonight after great runs in the North going right handed lately. They look a great chance tonight from the good barrier draws. Meanwhile, At Melton in Victoria, the NZ Cup favourite LEAP TO FAME is in the Victoria Cup Saturday night. Surprisingly , the Cup holder and arch rival SWAYZEE is not in , after winning this race last year. Grimson having Hi MynameisJeff nz going lickety split from the 2 barrier instead , and will try and run them ragged. Victoria Cup is only 2240m and Leap To Fame is on the second line so will have to circle the field Mid-race. Hi MynameisJeff NZ has rattled off a couple of 1.49 miles lately at home in Menangle and is cherry ripe to go for the upset win over 'Larry' the QLD legend.
  9. well it's an important topic Chief ? aren't we allowed to discuss it ? Has potential to overlap onto our Harness and racing industries in some form. ENTAIN help with NZ betting, and Ladbrokes (a Entain subsidary ) do QLD racing. Brodie has already complained on this site heaps of times that Entain will be cutting funding to NZ racing substancially after their first 5 years from taking over NZ TAB.?? you want to shrug it off ? or deflect to what the 'Banks' are doing ? I don't know what the Banks are doing regarding Laundering mate . BUT would say they have to deal with Money Laundering every day. You worry about it . I'm not. the local Aus/NZ ENTAIN CEO was DEan Shannon has been removed. Because when the 'alleged drug traffickers' came to light , 11 management personnel were removed and a new regime of tracking customer activities was introduced. this is Big action from the Company that controls NZ Betting ?? and worthy of discussion. Dean Shannon, who has assembled and sold betting companies through his career, A fine man who loved Harness racing and would of supported you ( i.e the Entain TAB NZ takeover) through tough times. But now is Gonski. (probably to Addington to see 'Merlin' run through the Spring and pick up some NZ dollars that way πŸ˜‰) Austrac action is quite a BIG thing. and ongoing . so was just doing a Share price update for you. not ok ? Like Most companies , they blurb out which quarter of the year was 'Best' for them regarding growth and new investment. so a + 6% 3rd quarter you say was announced by them, while being totally impressed ? good for you Chief. But it's HISTORY now. we're in the 4th quarter mate. your 6% has disappeared again. Anyway Share Market isn't for amateurs . nor is horse racing really lol πŸ˜‚ the quality of the competition in Australia and NZ is just too good , and so it's nearly always the 'Pro's ' who will win the money in the end. have a good week.
  10. the Aus Federal case against Entain is still on-going. Recently Austrac did retract part of it's charge list against Entain which included dropping the allegation that Entain breached it's duties as a remittance provider. Mediation is on-going but never-the less the charges remaining are still quite serious. some of the 17 high risk customers that pushed millions of dollars through are alleged drug traffickers , so that doesn't sit well with anyone. Financing multi million dollar betting to criminals . Regarding the Share Price. Better SELL those shares guys πŸ˜†. it's heading South as we hit mid October. share price Beginning of year Price was about 700.00, bottomed out April at about 550.00 (for only a day or 2 ) , then climbed to a maximum 1,020.00 August, and now dropping daily is at 820.00 in mid October . Probably finish the year about where they started in Price at this rate. ? a good result 'considering' 😎.
  11. hahaha yeah good stuff alright. I was watching Sideshow Bruce for Bob Butt . one of the favoured runners. Ran home well late getting past a mammoth 9 horses in the straight. and still Only got 8th lol. ? horse will be deemed to of 'went very well' though 😎 . a great 8th !!! you can keep the big fields and the 8th's that go with it πŸ˜‰ . Along with 8 or 9 horses getting a ZERO next to their name after their day out racing in that race as well .πŸ˜‚ horses flattened getting a ZERO form line. only in New Zealand. πŸ‡³πŸ‡Ώ
  12. The problem is with field sizes , how fast they go these days. The only ones to bet on , and that have the best chance these days , are the ones that burn early take a Sit and sprint hard to win . Is folly to bet on back markers. ( even at Royal Randwick they struggle these days ) We had Wine Light, Franscent , The Lazarus Effect, Wat Next and even John Dunn surprisingly taking a sit with Mighty Logan, in the Group 3 feature trot. ALL Five of these curled up nicely behind the leader at the half mile marker , and winning easily in the end. Addington last Friday. Marketplace failed from that position , but was beaten by an exceptionally gifted gelding, in the 3 year old feature The Backmarkers were NO CHANCE in those races. even at Addington on the Big track. I liked Oscar Bonavena (best trotter in NZ) , and Treacherous Baby (in the G2 Mares classic) as their trainer driver Mark Purdon is the GOAT in NZ. But they were still Near No chance even in the 12 horse fields. You're just too far back to be a chance or risk your dollars on. so like a lot of people You Don't End up Having a Bet. risk v reward . Both OscarB and Treacherous Baby stormed home for 4th, from near last at the quarter mile in their races last Friday. Fat lot of good that does for the 'everyday' punter? . just puts you off. 14-18 horse fields would mean heaps of losing horses and Consequently Heaps of losing punters. Much better idea would be to get 2 fields of 9 runners than one field of 18. you get 2 Winners. you get 2 trifecta's, you get 2 race pools (that would tally more than one pool would.) AND You get 2 races where EVERY runner has a chance of winning still at the half mile pole in a race (sadly lacking in a 12 horse + field these days) sure the tote divvie' might be smaller , but who is that greedy? , that they're rather see more losers than winners for the sake of a few extra dollars in a pool. The yanks know best and are the smartest as have run Full 8 horse fields for decades. Every runner , and therefore every Punter a winning Chance in Every Race. At QLD locals we just run 9-10 to give em' all a chance. excellent. and IMPORTANTLY , that keeps them in the harness game. ( by racing , owning or even Betting on horses )
  13. spot on Mikey . Here's a great photo of him . beauty looking horse alright. and in his bright green silks you said, with CJ at the helm.
  14. well we can only Hope they get the financial situation sorted out if it's that dire. I must say , I thought it was important to keep racing there so some of the locals could get a win . Away from the powerhouses of Barry Purdons, Tony H , Ray Green and Telfers . BUT was pleasantly surprised to see great success for the Cambridge Team tonight with not just Nicky Chilcott and Owen Gillies getting Auckland winners tonight , but David Butcher still a force with his 2 mid class horses who seem real nice ones , and Matty White's Stable too, still wins races at both venues as well. a fine horseman. (well done Monika on a driving double tonight too) So if your Cambridge does go belly up like the South Islanders seem to want, , then it's great to see the Cambridge Trainers can take it up to the Auckland Trainers ok anyway πŸ‘πŸ™‚. 4 Wins tonight was pretty good. and fancy Barry driving a winner after all these years? 5 years out of the sulky. his first this decade I believe. on ya Barry πŸ†πŸ»
  15. yes . I can see you have a similar problem to Aus in keeping the 'location' clubs going. Victoria harness racing is in Massive debt because they keep All the areas open ( and no one bets on them much) so the NZ situation is not unique. Nor is recent . Hutt Park closed yonks ago for example. You have lost a lot of your old trainers ( as we did in QLD when Cairns, Townsville , Tweed/Gold Coast all closed ) over the years. not financially viable to keep them functioning with the operating costs. So they're GONE FOREVER from those Locations 😒. like you lost Hutt and Forbury Park and New Plymouth and therefore several trainers from those areas . Cambridge has kept some of your very last Central districts trainers going Dickson and Doody that are 2 left still getting a Cambridge winner . Berger now retired. and the hard working lasses of some like ( Chilcott and Donnelly and their great staff) are doing a wonderful job and getting winners still. They even try at Auckland occasionally, but it's too hard most of the time , against those expensive horses of Telfers, greens and Stockmans. It is all about LOCATION . yes. Tiz why QLD run Marburg ( and Redcliffe every week) all the slow horses get a go still Those stables (like Doody, Gillies, Teaz etc) are mini 'Businesses you know? they need somewhere to conduct their business . without flattening their runners against the BIG boys like Mikey thinks is the answer. best of luck to todays Cambridge Competitors. (still racing against the odds 🀣)
  16. that sounds a great idea. And I see they do run some Amateur drivers races still (North and South) although even then the forums pick the standard of driving to bits then , and is still Not a betting product for them. So a non-win situation still in the end. HRNZ is the parent company. Parents try to look after their children. It's their job. they don't Care whether it's the North or the South. The HRNZ have computers you know ? and professional staff ? who assemble fields , and allocate the prizemoney (that is available for a WHOLE Season at a time) and try and look after All participants . They are a NATIONAL body. It's done by computer. you complaining blokes don't know better than a computer i'm sorry. I thought the Participants funding themselves in Slot races would be the answer (Millionaires) as seemed a way for the BEST horses of the 2 nations/or states to compete togeather for BIG Money πŸ’°. and not break the annual funding budget . But i'm Wrong. The Slot race EUREKA run at Menangle last Month was a complete Joke for various reasons. and I've changed my mind . They are Not the answer. they only favour 'some'. too few in my opinion now. HRNZ will continue to find answers though. ( How to get the BEST horses competing in Great racing ) as well as supporting the 'Everyday trainer' Like today at CAMBRIDGE throughout the year. They do a great job of this and you Can't see it for some reason. Great racing all year round in NZ . ( as opposed to silly QLD with just one month of the BIG dollar racing , that is good to bet on ) and 11 months of the 'Everyday trainer' helping them races , that aren't worth betting on ) If you guys knew how Lucky you really are to have great racing like Tomorrow night , instead of whinging about it (and ratings , and HRNZ, and this and that all the time , you could enjoy yourselves more. πŸ˜‰πŸ‘ Crying poor in the South Island is understandable I spose as you blokes still run so many horses, that only a few are returning a profit for their connections. All the North Island Stables are nearly all returning a profit currently. exactly what the sport needs to keep going. and HRNZ are not in charge of turnover?. This is up to the Betting Companies to have methods of attracting a punters' dollars. Personally I think it is a product that VERY FEW wins off. ( just the few at pundits at BOAY can , that have actually got some inside and accumalated knowledge about the sport) . Most others LOSE. so it doesn't worry me it's not a great betting product. No places in Aus have a Harness Betting product worth investing on these days either. The REAL PUNTERS are at the gallops or the Football .
  17. Can't work Mikey .They definitely need 2 separate meetings with quite different stakes. (one cheap , one twice as much) This is because if you run $15,000 maidens 9or support races) at One meeting they will be dominated by Ray Green , and the Telfers and anyone like them that breeds and buys the expensive horses. they will chase the better prizemoney. At Cambridge for $8000 per race, they enter Way less horses and in recent weeks you see trainers Susan Branch, Owen Gillies (2 wins last week) and folk like that winning races. they're not a hope in hell of even running a place against the outstanding trainers that race on Friday nights at Alexandra Park. They have to stay separate. (Location) you can be sure some of the BIG stables would find something to pop in your lesser lights race for 8 or 9 if on the same program as your 15 k one. The battler (Doody, Chilcott , etc) would get NO wins . (and it would be like the South Island lol πŸ˜‚)
  18. Well it's sustainable if they run for less money. The races are worth $8000 each this week . just make them go 4 or 5 thousand them if you're short of money. surely you (HRNZ) can come up with $45,000 to pay a whole race meeting anyway ? Tasmania can even do that lol 🀣. that's just 2 Dunn horses training fees for the whole year lol. shouldn't damage too much πŸ˜‰πŸ˜Ž Thought you had funding from Entain? . We do/are in Queensland. and can run 6 meetings a week for 450 horses in race training. Sponsored by Ladbrokes. (a subsidiary of Entain ) every horse gets a go. Just send the lower class horses around for less bucks then ?. Mind you , you blokes had Leap To Fame and Don Hugo compete at Cambridge this year and still didn't get excited. I can understand that in a way, as is better for NZ harness if a local can Win your feature races. But still they got to run the best 2 horses in the Southern Hemisphere there , so must be doing something right. and you still want it shut down . because the races have no third dividend ? what a Poor reason. take a trifecta then? . you need 3rd for that and trifecta's are paying well there still. Change your ways and support the sport. I guess it's like bashing my head into a wall like , trying to get Collingwood supporters to support Carlton. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜Ž Never mind . I hope CAMBRIDGE continue to race for years to come , after 100 years of fine trotting tradition. That means nothing to you guys because there's no 3rd dividend πŸ˜…πŸ€£ and is Not in the bloody South Island . πŸ˜‚ go play marbles then.
  19. Well it's a day for the slow horses that couldn't compete Albion Park and get anything. I'm not surprised incidents happen like you describe. They're all in for a bit of a dig. They all seem to have a crack in QLD as they are cheap horses , and you can drive them with gusto and not damage them. (if against their own class) . The McMullen girls do a fine job (like their brother Pete does at Albion). Taleah and Danielle Quinellaed the last race of day, and nearly had a look at taking that. But got scared off by the 3rd horse of trainer John McMullens there in it , that ran 4th in the end. It had won it's last start at Redcliffe and here at Marburg last month . so missed out on the $25 Quinella unfortunately. They (the McMullen sisters) drive with the aptitude of Crystal Hackett and Monika Ranger there in the North of NZ. and so get lots of wins. and you get a run for your money everytime. Just looking at those horses Mr Galah , it is the reason I support these little meetings. John McMullen Knows everything about harness racing, done it all his life. his dad very famous winner for decades. But he still has many horses like this , that can't go fast enough at Albion Park. They just go so darn fast these days. so the little Marburg (Cambridge type races ) for $4000 allows him to get wins. he's a $40 per day trainer (not a $70 per day like Dunns and Telfers) so needs 14k from each runner per year to return a profit for his owners. Done properly (with these little meetings) is easily achievable. we are 3/4 through year now. let's look at his 3 runners in the last race yesterday. race 7 Marburg the winner SPLASHNDASH picked up $2400 yesterday to go 23 starts- 3 wins- $16k for 2025 year. a PROFIT 2nd place B MAC C (NZ) $700 for 2nd to go 25 starts - 5 wins- $21k for 2025 (so far) a PROFIT 4th place TAYLORS FOUR up to 28 starts - 4 wins - $20k for 2025 so a PROFIT so John places ALL his horses somewhere where the owners won't lose. He had one other runner in yesterday . It won and picked up $2400 as well. That's Why MARBURG (and CAMBRIDGE this week) are so important . Keeps People in the game , and NOT out of Pocket. All those horses racing at Cambridge this week are 'Paying their way ' so there's nothing wrong with that. Barry Purdon and Scott Phelan had 5 FFAers stacked up in the Group race last Friday . so was certain to win it. They have the Millionaire owners buying the best around (as Allstars have done for Years) so dominate the city racing. So YES. Run Cambridge . give the small bloke a go. NowOrNever and Brodie are just being mean expecting those trainers /owners not to get any races to compete in, while the millionaires do.
  20. You've got to start the Slow horse's somewhere Brodie. Don't you want these people to race ? there's some really good folk starting their horses at Cambridge each week. Today our slow QLD horses are going around at Marburg in 7 x 8 horse fields. No one is watching. No one is betting . We're all still celebrating the 2 Grand Final wins in the AFL and NRL to be Champions of the world . Probably inspired by LEAP TO FAME. πŸ˜‚( well not really) no one has heard of that horse as Trotting is SMALL FRY these days. No one begrudges them racing though. it's their Hobby. just a few horses going around for the entertainment of their connections. Can't you just let your small fry participants run around once a week without all the hate for them ? It's just a hobby for them mate . You have the Big meeting each Friday night for millionaires and fast horses. WELL Done Cambridge !! (you should be saying) Putting on some racing for the few participants still going. Yep . All positive that the CEO puts races on for enthusiasts to pursue their livelihood or hobby. Good on ya New Zealand . Still having a go in tough times. Look after the small bloke Brodster. that's the spirit. πŸ‘
  21. Heard that the UBER came across some riders training for the Tour De France on the way to the track πŸ‡. Was going to get held up for a bit. but Not a problem in the end . πŸ˜‹
  22. One bloke in Darwin took bets from 1983 Chief. On-course only at races piggy backing 'Sports Betting' on the back of a licensed Bookmaker at the races. Took 10 years but finally in 1993 the Northern Territory government Legalised Sports betting away from the track. So 2 blokes sat in a office in Alice Springs with 2 telephones and a pen and paper , and took phone bets from Around Australia all day long lol , CENTREBET was off and running. By the turn of the century they (Centrebet) were turning over $300,000,000 per year . They sold out their 'small' business to a local competitor in 2003 for $47,000,000. You may ask why Alice Springs and Darwin ? because they Tax at half the rate of other states. Even to this day I believe. The revived 'Centrebet name' from other companies still trades out of the Northern Territory. Their are that many on-line betting companies these days it's crazy
  23. Borana raced for John and Doreen Murray throughout his career . Purchased by them for $2000 and retired after 126 race starts for 20 wins and $380,000. The 1984 NZ Cup had a Huge crash in it caused by George Shand , and 6 horses bit the dust. The winner of the race was Camelot who missed the disaster by millimetres. The great Australian horse Gammalite missed the crash as well, but off a ridiculous tough 30m handicap ran down the track with Borana. George would of got a very LONG Suspension for that foul driving , so the horses transferred to Peter Jones and 2 weeks after the Cup ran 4th to the Old Peter Jones drive of Hands Down . Peter had won a Cup driving Hands Down as well of course. Hands Down driven from then on , and for that Win by the Young junior driver Anthony Butt . for his granddad Derek. (The Cup winner Camelot finishing 3rd in that FFA ) Gammalite was favourite in that same FFA won by Ant's on Hands Down, but ran down the track again πŸ™„. Bloody NZers always so hard to beat at Addington lol πŸ˜† . Luckily Lightning Blue came along just 2 years later to show him (Gammalite) How it's done properly πŸ˜πŸ’°πŸ†πŸ‘
  24. I think the horse had a bleed once Chief. So they were thinking of her health at the time. But a lot of horses have a bleed from a airway blood vessel , and its not often as serious as what people think. I used to drive a pacer that little sprays out a nostril time to time. The amount of air under pressure running in and out of a horse per second at the end of a race, is quite substantial and no surprise they can have a little vessel break now and then. Plenty of them do but don't show it outwardly, as trickles don't always make it up to the nostrils. Pride of Jenni picking up $300,000 tonight so well worth a quick gallop around lol πŸ˜† would take pacers years to earn that much a lot of the time 😎 Alabama Lass was pretty poor in the Manikato ? . stopped badly . was hoping would go well for NZ too. certainly not a shadow on Imperatriz.
  25. I do have to reply to that Hesi old mate, as have worked with nearly every Veterinary Specialist in Brisbane in my working days, and they are the most wonderful compassionate people you could ever wish to meet in your life. And their wonderful staff are amazing too . So I don't want any image of vets being cast like 'Tradies' or anything , coming from you πŸ˜‰πŸ˜ lol Yes , I guess there is a huge problem with 'Levels' of education. and qualification. We had a Vets bridging course at UQ where overseas vets were trying to get a ticket to practice Vet in Australia. a total nightmare . some had only seen large animal in their days. Cows and goats and horses are valuable commodities in some countries. And Cats and dogs just run feral in the streets and they have no idea how to handle them , let alone treat them. Is REALLY Funny to see first hand. Our graduates are near best in the world in Oz and from Massey. I don't know what Nairn is lecturing exactly , or what qualification she has. But if it is a NZ one it is certainly better than what a Heap of other countries have. She is performing pretty intricate stuff, albeit on cadavars. also Taxidermy and shit like that. Do you need a special qualification for that ? she's not holding a scalpel over living horses is she ?
