Mind you , MARK JONES does have the right idea here in these thoughts , for a BIG solution here at the start of this Thread . to this financial problem which is exactly the same as the one I offered over the whole time this saga has gone on.. It seems the only way to clear that awful ATC Debt before the whole thing (industry) just shuts down broke. You Need Pukeohe (Franklin) however, you could re-locate Alexandra Park out of town , like Sydney did with Harold Park, because the Land was valuable at that site) . have it going the correct direction too lol π. clear the ATC debt and move on to bigger and better things. !!! Yeehaa lets do it. Have on-site Big horse BArns (like young 'Grimson' and his kiwi mate 'Trainor' have at Menangle ) for the young trainers to LEASE. young 'Seaton' is probably there as well, and just getting better and better. that is so important !!! as the Galah mentioned often, to have somewhere for the New Young trainers to train in a world class Facility in NZ . ( Woodend Beach not the answer to locating trainers in world class facility lol )

Exactly NOT . Many of you guys complain about much, but the Solutions are Complicated. The whole NZ country is Struggling Financially in every sector. We blame governments for acting irresponsibly and causing the pain. I've seen plenty of folk everywhere that are blaming their Government's for everything and anything, and you Guys are Sadly Putting HRNZ in the same boat.πͺ PEOPLE everywhere are struggling to Balance their VERY OWN Home budgets , let alone Run a HUGE organisation like the Government , or the HRNZ or the NZTR racing budgets. example : very recently The Tasmanian State Government has gone completely bust so a VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE has actually been passed in state Parliament there late May , and they are forced to go to the Polls in July again very soon(, where Labour will landslide out the current Liberal State Government in all likelihood ) . Things are very tough to run Financially. HRNZ are injecting HEAPS of funds into the Stakemoney for harness racing . via ENTAIN . that's gotta be a good thing really ??? . Prizemoney and racing NEVER BETTER , all across the nation. Yet this site posters Completely gives them a pasting . can't understand it. When the funding decreases so will your prizemoney . Just a normal progression. Has happened ALL through history. and when some bright spark comes along , like the GENIUS I applaud , that made Slot racing . the Prizemoney jumps up to a Million dollars in some of them . What a GREAT great thing . reward for your participants at Last !!!! There's a WHOLE GROUP of people at HRNZ that help put togeather the racing . IN VERY DIFFICULT times . they are putting on great races and concepts. (SLots racing and all sorts of things and schemes to try and help) . Is just Amazing what they've done, In difficult Financial times and yet HRNZ have Lifted literally lifted Harness racing out of the Ashes. And yet ZERO optimism at BOAY for harness racing Officialdom ? in Any office Whatsoever, No appreciation of anyone's efforts , the Handicapper?, the Stakes board, the underwriters ENTAIN , the whole lot cop a flogging the whole time . A TOTAL Vote of NO CONFIDENCE in your Very Own Countrymen all the time ?? .when they're trying to do the best they can in hard times to actually run a business . Some just WANT TO BITE THE HAND That FEEDS them Clean off π€£. maybe sign up at the greyhounds instead?

For 3 weeks the Interdominion will be run at Albion Park each Saturday Evening. July 5th and 12th heats into the 2 Grand Finals on 19th July. To support the runners and enjoy the racing We will get a 2025 BOAY Interdominion Championship winner as well.ππ 1/ EACH CONTESTANT will get FIVE different horses Each to Earn points through the Heats and Final with. (Points scored will be what the actual horse itself earns in the race) 2/ There are 3 Pacers heats and 2 Trotters heats during the first 2 weeks . with 2 Grand Finals and 2 Consolations run on 19th July to earn the points in. 3/ Your runners will be drawn by Draft at 7pm NZ Time . on Wed2nd, Thurs3rd and Fri4th July. A runner on these evenings from the Pool of Horses listed on those evenings will be randomly selected (from deck of cards) for each gun BOAY player competing. (LEAP TO FAME will be excluded from the draw) ( random draw is to stop any star punter like the Brodster picking the 5 Best horses π ) 4/ Horses will be Allocated to BOAY players at approx 7.00pm NZ time each of those evenings until they have their 'Stable ' of 5 runners to support throughout the series on Friday evening during the Friday night lights. (3 Pacers and 2 Trotters each) 5/ POINTS from each round are scored from the Horses Finishing Placing in Each heat and Final . Here is the Official scoring table for the Interdominion . Points Table Position 1st scores 16 points, 2nd =13, 3rd =11, 4th =9, 5th =8, 6th =7, 7th =6, 8th =5 9th =4, 10th =3, 11th =2, and 12th (last place) = 1 point scored. 6/ Mr Rangatira has a head start of 10 points , and TAB4ever has 5 points accrued from the first half of the BOAY Interdominion Competition that they played well. 7/ If any of your 5 horse's is withdrawn / scratched for any reason , Another runner will be allocated for you instantly by me , to that race so you can still Earn Points . and FINALLY I would like to keep the BOAY Championship at 10 Competitors max. this will give 50 horses a supporter for the Interdominion (Leap to Fame still excluded π he will trying to beat your stable on his lonesome ) * So we have Ranga, Chief, Mr Galah, TABman, Brodster , and Gamma lining up for a unique stable of 5 Interdominion runners so far . The Stable accruing the Most Points by end of Grand Final night at Brissie on July 19th will be the NZ INTERDOMINION Grand Champion (no matter what Larry does lol π€£) FOUR more players ( that are Interdom fans please ) needed to complete the Draftees List . Express your interest with a quick post here (before 7pm Tues)

They will earn a few bonus points for the second half of the Comp . ( that will be on a new thread ) for their support on this thread. I thank them for their support. Ranga 10 points. Winxβs Snitzel colt to headline Inglis Easter 2026
Gammalite replied to Murray Fish's topic in Galloping Chat
Quite a risky buy for a yearling? . several million ? cannot understand it. The first Winx foal is still an un-raced 2 year old as yet ? Chicken king-ess Debbie buying it herself for a Humungous $10,000,000 π³ good grief. The Yulong bloke paid $6,000,000 odd for Via Vistina from overseas to bring to Waller. That seems a much more sensible idea.? ? she was winning Group 1's already at Ascot/Newmarket /UK if you've got a bunch of cash like Several Million dollars like those people, SURELY you'll just buy a 'race winning already' horse ? across a few years, I purchased approx 50 horses from NZ to race in Oz , back in the day. 100% of them already racing in NZ . 100% I think , won races for their new Australian owners. You could trial to buy .Excellent stuff. you knew straight away, if they could run or not. Never bought a yearling in my life. Just too risky . I'd say broke in roughly 100-150 yearlings at the stable, and only a small percentage won races. probably only half actually got to the races. there's still a lot of slow horses around. π€£ -
Great wins tonight for new Zealand . RUBIRA wins the Redcliffe Derby in a Fantastic display , beating our Best 3 yearold 'Fate Awaits' of Dixons to the line, no worries at all. and in a bonus CAPTAINS MISTRESS with Nathan Williamson , not worrying about the obtuse angles of triangle racing just goes 3 Wide the whole Last LAP to take Geometry right out of the equation π . an amazing Oaks win, and she wins easy , from the 2 Dixon Fillies. Mr 'Swayzee' Boots will be smiling like Gamma , with that win 10-1 for the kiwi Double !! money for Jam boys. You can't help but win on these fantastic horsemen and horses. It was fantastic to see the 2 sets of famous New Zealand colours Winning at Redcliffe again after all the years. Think South East Derby will be the next One for RUBIRA . get ready for more Wins! π°π°ππππ

well Derby night about to go at Redcliffe . Not far off at all the BIG 4k win last night (about a length) at the Friday night Lightss thread with 5-6 kiwi winners and a half head 2nd, and a 4th from the Multi. Let's grab one tonight then with a few kiwi breds tonight. π°π° Race 3 Redcliffe PANDAIA $6.00 Menangle horse too quick for these? won Addington last year. Race 4/ TAyLAD To USE $3.00 recent NI arrival . sure to close in this Redcliffe Trotters Cup. Race 5/ CAPTAINS MISTRESS $4.20 to be driven by Nathan Williamson Redcliffe Oaks. you know her well. see if Nathan can handle the Triangle shaped track though ?? ππ Race 6/ RUBIRA $2.00 Purdon super horse . drawn 1 . wins from here to the post office. Race 7/ OUR Vincent Van Gogh $2.00 NZ horse with champ Luke McCarthy now. Wins Race 8/ SIX NZ bred horses in the Big Feature G2 Redcliffe Cup. 'ARODA' (NZ bred) ran in a NZ Cup so must be alright ? but a few chances here. Maybe 'Petes Said So' old kiwi from NSW a good chance too. Lets just take the a PICK 5 , as the Redcliffe Cup seems pretty tough to win. Pandaia x Taylad x Mistress x Rubira x VincentVG $6 x $3 x $4.20 x $2 x $2 = so that's 300-1 spend a dollar = win $300 . might try a Fiver to win $1500 . very strong chance? LETS get this Done !!! ππ

That might be the same around Oz. my math ain't what it used to be. But here's some Fun money payouts for 6th to last placings for you. the petrol money ? π Victoria they get $120-$140 , Queensland about a lean $60 for country/midweek ( bit more realistic ), But last Saturday night with Feature races , All the runners were getting heaps. We had a Group 2 that had 5 Dixon runners and 5 McMullen runners . The winner 100k , 6th to last still got nearly $4,300 each !! good grief. That was race 6 'The Hayden' where Pete McMullen tried to put a Dixon runner over the fence (markers) in the run home , and lost the race on protest. Was funny as anything. π€£ check it out if you get a chance. Pete should of been Suspended for that. Dead set was cheating . SA $97 petrol , WA $208 - $267 9must be driving Rolls Royce over there π Tassie sweet nothing . Now that's the best option π. We used to never get Anyting 5th and back for years. We could save tens of Thousands of dollars by NOT paying also rans. Fancy paying someone galloping out the Back ?? what did they deserve to get that. lol . pay the Top 4 Only I reckon , and let the horse owners pay the rest of the runners π, their travel costs and stuff.

you surely are a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious word man Ranga. personally I think Mark Jones is unappreciative of all the Many great Meetings and feature races that are run all through the year in New Zealand. It is staggeringly good . comparable to the excellent race planning and administration and co-ordination Australian thoroughbred racing have done for decades. USA and Australia harness racing just run routine , stock standard , bread and butter races most of the year with very few Carnivals and quite boring mile racing ( the boring mile told to me by Brodster) However the COnstellations Carnival has arrived for Brissie next week , and will Include the INTERDOMINION (for next 3 years) , to get some fine kiwi horsemen here , and we have one Month of Bliss . Big Races for one month. MARK JONES seemingly not knowing, just how LUCKY he really is to have such a great years program of racing in NZ , spread out through the whole year to keep us enthusiasts Very happy. get with the program Mark lol. π

Am sure there are still 'Slow quarter' Fines Ranga. I just had a look at the QLD Rules of Harness Racing . There are 186 Pages. It was too hard to find. There are that many clauses to do with 'everything' they would make great forum discussion , some of the topics are very interesting. But it's a bit like reading and chatting about 'War And Peace' in length π

Well they drove the 3 Telfer runners with a bit of strategy in the Race 5 Final, the best they could , but the Leader Won. somehow Abernathy got away with a 34.4 quarter . I have never seen Metro class horses going so slow. they were crawling 1400m round to the bell . Dickie had to go forward with Iron Brigade (backed 3-1 into 2-1 here ) as had no choice at that stage. perhaps the ''3rd string Telfer' horse should of just got stuck into the leader harder at the half mile ? The Pole Draw 3rd Telfer runner nearly won it anyway .narrow Half head 2nd up the passing lane.

The money was on again alright . Here SLOTS was $3.80 in to $2.20 when the plunge came. He came up a head short as Carter clung on . the winner $2.90 out to 5's when they jumped with all the money on Slots. Slots got Lovely drag into it as well by the stable-mate. thought was gunna blow em away for second. Carter a great Trainer /driver though. near best in the country nowadays ?

A few kiwi ex-pats at Albion Park tonight . so worth a look too for a $ fiver or 2 . Race 1. Megs Boy $1.70 (thought that was 'Mels Boy' for a moment . Ranga would remember him) Race 2. the FFA Speak The Truth $4.50 started in the Grins race and 2nd in a Miracle Mile . so wins this ? maybe Race 3. Shard's Matrix $4.80 won a couple of races at Addington last June . might be a winter horse lol π Race 4. Golden Fire $3.00 Gold Ace mare from AKLD , back in grade from open Mares last start. wins. Race 5. Sweet Addition $3.00 A sweet draw for Swayzee owner Mick Boots and top man Pete McMullen Race 6. Crap race . giving the flick Race 7. TOSS-Up here . we have Premier Paul $7.50 from O'Reillys and Fernco Nel $2.00 from Larsens in the deep South . Better follow the money and go with star driver Pete M driving FERNCO NEL Race 8. a popular one here Post Painter .$1.25 raced all round the South Island last year but primed for this with a fast 1.52 placing last start (and a win previous start with first run in Australia) MegsB + Speak the Truth + Shard'sM + GoldenF + SweetA + FerncoN + PostPainter 1.7 x 4.5 x 4.8 x 3 x 3 x 2 x 1.25 = $826 might be worth a 5 bucks look ? . 4000- 5 cover $5.00 on Golden Fire R4. and still win a 'Fiver' anyway if the other 6 flop π€£ Lets go Kiwis !!!

The lights are still on , and the fields are a good size tonight with many 8 horse fields. giving all runners a chance of victory. Thank the goodness so you blokes can't pick on Auckland when Addington is racing near the same numbers for a change . Is the STONEWALL bloke getting some BIG bets π° on tonight to annoy the Brodster ?? Telfers and Tim already WON race 1 with Christies Art at $1.80 so looks like the Money is on . and he's cashed up already. Is SLOTS winning? what about AKATEA ? CARBON in the 8th? Could be a FOUR-PAck for Tim and Steve/Amanda in the end? Looks Like they stuffed at Auckland though.π³ Heavily backed CAPTAIN's SECRET beaten by the stable-mate in the first race ?? π Josh kicked on too well on the leader. Forbury will be spitting chipsπ wouldn't see Allstars messing it up like that. ππ maybe they can make up for it in Race 5 Alexandra with 3 of the 8 runners lining up. Bit of team-work and they can get the Tri ?

People are just Sick of the Sight of attempted Welt marks on horses Thommo. you made your point. Just give the Jockey a DQ then?, and get on with it for goodness sake. and Where are you going ? heading back to your room to make your day complete ? You can Sing this song on your way home !! enjoy ππ.

Just amazing horse TAB. YOUNG QUINN Winning the Miracle Mile from the outside impossible 6 alley. ( that was repeated by another NZer in LOCARNO for Robin Butt just 5 years later in 1980) Can you Believe that it's a HALF Century since Young Quinn Won at Auckland in those Photos above. ?? seems like yesterday I was NZ enjoying those amazing horses. 50 YEARS ago OMG π³. (I lost all my treasured race books (4 from each championship) from those 3 Auckland Interdominions in a house fire in NZ ) all the Halwes ones from 68' when my dad first shifted us to NZ from Tas when we went with that horse who should of won the Interdominion , and my Young Quinn ones 75. and the Gammalite ones from the 1983 Interdominion still makes me sad as loved all those , with all the great horses dwelling with-in πͺ

Is it time to rethink whipping in horse races?Β
Gammalite replied to Murray Fish's topic in Galloping Chat
Breaks ya heart sometimes. Watch all the Grand National replays from over the years at Aintree. GOB smacking stuff, and you'll see PLENTY of riderless horses and the behaviour they get up to , once the Cues from the rider are gone. One of the greatest Pacer's ever born, could of been the Interdominion Champion of New Zealand and Australia and immortal. but lost the driver when someone fell in front of him, Paleface Adios still chased hard and ran 4th not missing his stride or anything . bit of a tragedy. They made a Statue of him anyway in the middle of his home town of Temora anyway . 108 wins from 240 starts. and no easy time in any race either against superstars like Pure Steel, Koala King , Hondo Gratten and co, -
Clean sweep of the heats and Final Big-time at Auckland 75' . the champion YOUNG QUINN. Charlie Hunter got a damaged arm in a 2 year old race crash, so unable to drive after the 2nd round. So Yeah !! ;'Long John' Langdon wins both Grand Finals . Quinny pacing and Castleton's Pride Trotting. Both trained by Charlie Hunter as well. great stuff TABman π 4 points for you and 1 for Gamma with Castleton'e Pride

Is it time to rethink whipping in horse races?Β
Gammalite replied to Murray Fish's topic in Galloping Chat
Yeah mate . they're playing like a pack of dogs would when they all enjoying freedom in togeather. They're a herd/pack animal . you know this. Racing isn't Fun for horses. they shake , they tremble, they're prancing around in the mounting yard full of nerves. they'd much rather be in your paddock . You know this . I know this. I've worked with horses and vet/with vets all my working life. there's no No need for your Study on this ? more Basic 101. The Racing with Whips and Jockeys is just Only A Human Pursuit . something we enjoy . not so much the horse. So we have to use CUE's to get them to perform . just like a circus animal really. But if the horse had it's choice , it would not be indulging in these activities. Farrier's, vet tubes down the nose, race Starting stalls . I've seen a HEAP of HORSES that hate these things. haven't you?? haven't you seen horses broken in ? the secret is they hate saddles, gigs , floats and that . but have to get used to it as have NO CHOICE , because we force it All on them. It's Not stuff they would do themselves π€£π Plain as Day is Real Jockeys with Whips, Hoods on their heads , burrs and shit like that. they are even more annoying to them mate. You know this. Eat some grass . that;s their favourite. -
Is it time to rethink whipping in horse races?Β
Gammalite replied to Murray Fish's topic in Galloping Chat
Really .what ? Do you not know anything about horse training or don't believe that horses prefer to eat grass ? . A favourite pass-time of theirs it is actually. Because you and some may be struggling with concepts once again lets get back to basics. Horse's only compete in races because People ask them too. The saddle being put on a cue for them. Horses only perform well in races (by running as fast they can ) because People ask them too . The jockeys body action and Implements such as Whips are a SURE FIRE Cue to race hard. Without these Cue's , the horse would stop. It would NOT go flat out and would probably Look for an exit from the race-course ( as ultimately any riderless horse does, when it no longer has cues from the rider/driver ) It doesn't want to be there. some would indeed stop and eat the grass . that's their favourite past-time. A horse would go fast on it's own accord if fleeing from danger. A Horse can see the whip as a danger . Also a rider or driver YELLING and Screeching at them , along with whip slapping , arm waving and that . like happens virtually Every race. These are the Human 'Cues" provided from the rider/driver to Get the horse 'moving forward at the rate you want it too or hope it can reach. The more DESPARATEly the CUE's are Applied , e. like louder the noise or whip action, the more Response and hopefully the near WIN is achieved by the Animal under them responding to the cue's .ask Tom Prebble last Sat. No Cue's ? No horse racing then . they're not all stupid. they'll look to leave the course or eat grass lol π There you go for you and anyone wanting to use terms like ignamarmus to insult people. A BASIC lesson in what a Cue Is, designed to make horses pick up and go faster. BASIC 101. my pleasure to help you (and others) out that don't seem up to pace on horse behaviours. e.g sheepdogs use a whistle cue to perform their tasks . Did you know that? we're not allowed to use that cue during the race unfortunately , (a shame as as would of been effective and we do use it in training a fair bit ) because it's used as a cue for the horse to pee before (or after ) a race for swabbing and that. π€£. -
A Music Clue for the BOAY Interdominion Quiz today . This great song must been about the same time as the Wonderful horse . Just change a few words and it could be about him π. " everybody's going to jump for joy" 1/ Who is the horse could we sing about today ? 2/ Who is the amazing Trainer that took him to Interdominon glory ? 3/ A stand-in Driver was needed for the Grand Final. Who? and what remarkable feat did he achieve during that Interdominion series that hasn't ever been achieved again ? Pop any answer here with a post to get Comp points OR Just enjoy the Great Song if you can't pick him !!!!!

Is it time to rethink whipping in horse races?Β
Gammalite replied to Murray Fish's topic in Galloping Chat
What a load of poppycock. Most horses would just pull up and start eating the grass if they had the choice of what speed they would like to run at , at the end of a race. The horse doesn't decide itself to just go harder. The Whip is the CUE, to go hard and go fast as you can. They'll get no-where near their best performance without some sort of cue. I do agree a Flank strike is completely un-necessary altogether as per your arguement . so Why not wave the thing up outside the blinkers or loud slaps on the shoulder to give the horse the CUE it needs to go hard. Well there is always hypocrisy Chief. Look at all the dumbarse retired Rugby League and Rugby players who are trying to sue the NRL and rugby board for 'Damage to their brains' accumulated from being in an ''Unsafe' working environment where they constantly got head knocks for their 20 year careers. Hindsight Syndrome lol π€£ But anyway it's the sport of Kings . Many Multi Millionaires and Billionaires . with the chinese Yulong fellow in action down under with Via Sistina and that, and all the Shiehks trying to beat each other up at Royal Ascot , RACING will keep going for ever !!!!! so don't worry about those anti- racing wankers Chiefy mate. the anti-racing mob Haven't got a hope in the World of stopping the 'Money' . even The Grand National even still runs at Aintree after all the years of protests (race which has a bit of attrition over the years ,) anti-racing mobs are just told to stay outside the gates. They don't own the horses, and people can do what they like with them . (humanely) . -
Half way through the year, and all the Big 3 yearolds will be aiming up for Derby glory the next 6 months through Australia and NZ. The great Northern Derby already been run and won by star horse Marketplace . The NSW Derby went off as well , to a budding star as well in the Emma Stewart trained undefeated 'Always Hot' earlier in the year. Saturday night sees RUBIRA for Mark Purdon and New Zealand take on the best of our locals in the Redcliffe Derby. Rubira has won all 4 of his races starts this year so far as 3 year old. Looks a Great chance in the QLD Derby Group 1 next month. (won last year by the NZer Major Hot) I said gid'day to old Marky Boy 6 or 7 years ago when he turned up in Brissie with a 3 yearold and promptly won 4 out of 4 races in QLD , inc 3 Derbies. The horse becoming a Millionaire ( 2 and half million π°won) later on and finishing with 30 wins from 74 starts Including the NZ Cup. Super horse SELF ASSURED . Maybe Rubira can follow in his footsteps ?? he's off to a bright start in his career. Here's the Field for the GROUP 3 Redcliffe DERBY this Saturday night. RUBIRA showing just $1.80 to win this . 2 of the fast Seymour Dixon runners placed in the NSW Derby behind the Emma Stewart trained winner = Path To Greatness and Fate Awaits look hard to beat. Looks Like Multi Millionaires Mike Tanev ( It's Electrifying ) and Danny Zavitsanos ( Demon Blue ) have spent big bucks to try and buy another winner from NZ . think they're in for a bit of disappointment in this field . and Danny put Demon Blue with Dixon ? really ? a silly move as No way will he be beating Seymours colts with it lol ππ 1 111s1 RUBIRA NZ M Purdon, N Purdon Adam Sanderson NR89 FR1 2 61281 SWEET ON LEXY Bernie Hewitt Bernie Hewitt NR78 FR2 3 2s212 JUNGLE DRAGON Bernie Hewitt Bernie Hewitt NR82 FR3 4 21129 FRENCH FRIES Trent Dawson Trent Dawson NR70 FR4 5 12233 ITS ELECTRIFYING NZ Chantal Turpin Pete McMullen NR70 FR5 6 22111 PATH TO GREATNESS Grant Dixon Trista Dixon NR81 FR6 ------------------------------ Second Row ------------------------------ 7 23212 UDDERLY SWEET (Em 1) Chantal Turpin Redclif 28/06/2025 Pete McMullen NR65 SR- 8 41s13 FATE AWAITS Grant Dixon Grant Dixon NR82 SR1 9 91114 HEZATREACHEROUS KerryAnn Morris Robert Morris NR77 SR2 10 63121 DEMON BLUE NZ Grant Dixon Jack Chapple (C) NR65 SR3 11 15s31 MAC BON Luke McCarthy Luke McCarthy

Great win for Trainer /driver Richard Brosnan. Fabulous Win. knocked off the 2 Aussies for a thrilling win . Reon Murtha enjoying the action with a great race-call too π . Richard grabbed a 2nd win 4 years ago with a trotter he trains with his Son Emmett. Maori Law . beat home NZer Majestic Man 2nd and the future double Interdominion Winner for Greg Sugars named ' Just Believe ' 3rd. the late great Greg Sugars actually drove Maori Law to victory for Richard Brosnan, before taking over Just Believe to train himself. So Greg WON the final 3 years in a row. we miss you already Greg πͺ
