North has a fine tradition just as the South. ???? Why should they 'cave in' when you have great players like Barry Purdon winning the NZ FFA and Velocity recently, Ray Green winning the NZ Cup twice recently (before the Aussies) , One of the greatest harness men ever seen in Tony Herlihy driving and training, The Butcher Team , outstanding horsepeople like The Neals, The Hacketts, McGowans, the Fergusons , the Blanchards the Cooneys, Arna Donnely doing great job lately . I'd argue the Better Strength Is in the North . ππ you guys a bit weak down there lately π π€£ TABman would argue that Oscar B is a northerner now ? along with Markπ. and he saved the day beating Just Believe . go the Northerner !!! lol. Propaganda a Poor Choice of word outside of War-fare lol...π Of course Auckland is struggling with the debt. . BUT You don't just kick a wounded dog and let it die ???. You get motivated with ideas to 'Save the Beast' and keep it going. It's IRRATIONAL Not to help out . Of Course they should be Subsidised with as much as HRNZ can give . And Support All those amazing People who Put The Face on our great sport over decades. grizzling because there's more players in the South Island each week ???? for goodness guys . always has been. but have some respect for the players and their owners in the North. and the horses. The harness racing is Good to Have in BOTH Islands. ya all sound like North Korea v South Korea or something π€£

well humour not a good fit for every body the same fit . so that's fine. that's Life. Like a Game of cards even >> a good marriage that starts off well with (Love) HEARTS and (rings) DIAMONDS , can just end up after a period of time with the fantasy of some of the parties, of just 'dreaming of' getting a CLUB and then a SPADE . π€£

alas Its A Wild Night just battled just now in the Cranbourne Cup for 5th and couldn't quite reel the leaders in , but a nice bloke who races trotters is enjoying being a Te Akau syndicate member involved with that handy horse . He's having a great time enjoying that. The bloke won a Group 1 at Addington last week with his 2 yearold trotter in his syndicate too. so has a nice dual code combo going. should try that one day I think bucket-list lol π Sans Doute and Quintessa a couple of handy Te Akau Mares, have sort of lost form lately after tough runs in the Freak Flemington Hailstorm on Sept 14th. just haven't recovered from that shocking day. wonder if is too expensive to freshen them in NZ these days ? flights and that?.

Been plenty of success stories with the Focus Chief. Here's a great win for the Notoriuosly BAD Mannered horse OUR PADDY BOY . a very expensive $300,000 from NZ purchase by Robert Sangster , he played up so bad on Colin Hayes that Colin took him to various training tracks just to get him to go on the track at times . He just cheated all the time. Even in training. About to give up with frustration they changed jockey and ADDED some QUALITY gear. here's a bit from the horse's story. but two things were different. Mallyon was back in the saddle and Paddy was sporting blinkers for the very first time. One of lifeβs genuinely uncomplicated characters was now paired with a blinkered psycho. They fell in to win by a half-head at even money. Sydney, it was to be! NZ 'bad-boy' OUR PADDY BOY famously Wins the AJC Derby, defeating the NZ top 3 year old horse RING THE BELL (Tiley), when challenged in one of the great classic races. Not sure if Sangster 'demanded' Blinkers go on all his expensive thoroughbred purchases after this but the thought must of crossed his mind ? πππ

that is amazing. what a Sterling job you are doing then π . Was so happy ''Meant To Be' won that Group 1 , and you're getting great results. we'll have to cheer for you in the 'Ascent' for sure. hope that Aussie Chauffour, doesn't make it over, in that case π thanks Blackie , maybe Leap To Fame and Fate Awaits (for The Velocity ) will turn up 2025 Cup week . so might be worse than this year for the locals π . Oscar managed to get something back for the locals in the FFA though. Can't wait to get to Addington to check out the action . One thing in Common for New Zealand and Australia is our ability to have a good Time and appreciate good sport and healthy life-style (unlike about 90% of the countries around the world) and Love our racing , footy and beer lol. no wonder both countries rated in TOP 10 on the planet.

hahaha fair enough. I would of been thinking of the whip use on a biting horse , as a 'safety ' element to get it back in focus (and a little better educated as per your horse on the lead) I've got plenty of whip strikes from other drivers lol π. back handers and shit lol. bit safer these days with not being allowed to put the reins in one hand. Wonder if jockeys should have that rule ? that would stop flank whipping altogether. Speaking of biting horses , the worst injury I got in 20 years horses work was a stallion savaged me on the torso flank with a huge bite. was massive pressure, teeth marks and all. dropped me on the ground in a split second. (It saw a horse it didn't like a bit too close within the vicinity) ..anyway ,I swear this is true , I was lifting the shirt later on at a party to impress the girls and had massive mouth shaped black and blue bruising and teeth marks, around my back right around to belly button nearly , so was telling them , Great White Shark attack !! π€£ , but I fearlessly beat the creature off before the teeth punctured and lived to tell the tale. Well bit of 'In-correct' species but sounded impressive so 'He-man Gamma' had the girls swooning all week , and rubbing the bruising cream on . ππ.

number 4 'Tastula' had the magic enhancement Chief. $6. in to $3.40 . won by lengths. blinkers worked a treat. 'That's Outstanding' was focused as well ? and came home well with the blinkers working for a $16 Quinella. 'Space Ace' stopped to a walk the last bit . 1900m maidens are tough to lead ? lol π€£π took my red-back with it too the blasted thing π. Gai might have to take the Blinkers Off the weak thing, by the look of it ? getting too keen ππ'
-
Do any have a Big G printed on them ? go for that one if you find it. gai sorry I was looking at race 1 Canterbury this afternoon. SPACE ACE will be in full focus going forward , as the masterly trainer once again places the Big G Blinkers on the Tim Clark driven runner who will lead and win . you know it sounds right lol π 4-1 odds too. and I'm on a Swiss Roll too (after Switzerland π€£ and Cup week Addington ππ°)

Well horses are trainable . We train our dogs, we train our staff, you can even train the bloody cat to do tricks if you're patient enough. So yes , things like Blinkers help . (whether you guys say so or not) chuck em' on the biting horse even. FOCUS is the Key. (The Focus is horse and rider getting to the winning post in the highest possible finishing position) It's why we continually have this massive Whip debate too ??? π But whips help with FOCUS . (whether you guys say so or not) I'd be giving that biting horse a 'hard as I can' Clot over the nose with the whip at that moment in time , so it 'knows' not to bite when the idea crosses it's mind next time. Dogs will fight if you let them. Stallions get quite nippy more than most . (probably why we geld a heap of the Standardbreds lol) Just like people really π. Have a look at this thread lol. Should just give you blokes some blinkers and whips and cut you loose. Strongest man with best FOCUS would/should win π€£. ( but no biting please) FOCUS the key lol. π

Excellent work TABman. I didn't take the Tri's and F4's this time round but yeah the Oscar B one In the Trotting FFA looked a beauty. good on you . Oscar was one of my best for the day. should of looked at that F4. Marketplace was enormous , and Borris was a beast both days. A friend has a share in Meant to Be (winning the Group1 2yearold trot) . Chief 's fav horse won at Riccarton a group 1 as well . so had those as well. Missed with 50 bucks on DSD (didn't think Swayzee could travel all those km's from Young NSW win to Chch and still win) and 50 on Miki Bennett (the 2nd day) after he looked the winner the CUP day but broke in the run home when going to the lead. Did exactly the same on Showday though. What are the chances ??π³ Was all but there to enjoy. Is Nice NewMarket said the Punters club function went well though and he had a great time. I will be there next Nov 2025 100% , as just had a few loose ends and couldn't get there last week when wanted to go. more up and downs than Leap To Fame π€ . only been once to Addington way back 80's with Lightning Blue. retire tomorrow . so big night out New Queens Wharf ( $3 billion dollar development in Brisbane that just opened,) is on the cards tomorrow night π»πΊ, and might try and find a horse to bring to Addington next year. lol. Have the ASCENT Winning Tip for you already though π° . Another Volstead sired trotter like 'Keayang Zahara'. This blokes name is 'Enchauffour'. 2025 Ascent winner , long range prediction π . He can trot a 56 second half already , (a lot faster than Meant To Be)
-
How did none of those teams win anything ?π some of the easiest picks ever show day. KEAYANG Zahara , special of the century. backed OscarB. (he has won the NZ FFA twice already and was good in the Dominion) And all lost last 2 races on 'Best horse in the country' Merlin ? and 'Smoke on The Water' in the last race (who boomed home Cup day from the back with a ''Get on Me Showday sign' on flashing bright) Think BOAY should have had a team ? in and would of been a Hand-Canter to Victory π . BOAY team of ( Gamma + $1000, Broster +$1000, The Galah +$1000, TABman +$1000, (Chief, Ranga, Blackie -1000 π) π ) = total win $3, 000 win on the money and crushing that poor lot of pluggers at Addington PC π .

The Rock Lobster mob still celebrating Ranga. Pass the Tanning Butter !! ππ what a great song. laugh like hell every time. And this live performance was excellently filmed by hand helds in someones garage . fantastic Nigel was spose to sing this instead of Fred if the Lobster won a race.

The ''Ascent'' Slot race for 3 year old trotters
Gammalite replied to Gammalite's topic in Trotting Chat
She was a bit good. by 8 lengths or so . Hope you got to see her go. The 9 NZ trotters were incredible too !!!!!! They all finished virtually in a line across the track . All 9 of them . what a great sight !!! and All 9 did their trainers / drivers and owners proud in a great effort by the young trotters. a true Credit to their great NZ trotting trainers. KEAYANG ZAHARA is an Alien from another Galaxy though. Unreal . Does it without any effort is the thing. -
Great win by Borris. No easy wins from those wide alleys , but Sheree pressed on without gassing him and took the lead after half a lap. Held on well from Bazooka like she did on Tuesday as well. Love that Regan is using Sheree , and (Ferguson driving on Marketplace) as it gives these sort of drivers confidence to have a go , and work forward , and not be intimidated by Allstars . so the racing is getting even better ?? without and Mark and Nat . Mark would be pleasantly surprised to see good old OscarB run down Just Believe today in the NZ trotting FFA. even when he's not in the bike Allstars still a threat to the best going π. what a team they are.

BLINKERS ON First time...what took them sooo long???
Gammalite replied to Thomass's topic in Galloping Chat
easy . take the lot . Let's go $10 bucks on each . total $110 bucks π°. and if we return more than 110 profit Chief has to relent and admit he is in the presence of Supreme beings (as far as Blinkers go) π -
No Justice delivered. Miki Bennett looped the field from the quarter . Got to the lead again 100 out, with my $50 bucks on. and then he bloody galloped again , when gunna Win π . Exactly the same spot. Send it to Riccarton. π€£. can't believe that. what are the chances ? throwing away 2 wins in just 3 days. Think they're 'Taking The Mickey' ??π

BLINKERS ON First time...what took them sooo long???
Gammalite replied to Thomass's topic in Galloping Chat
Well I think you do (as a Punter) because the addition of gear is to be reported before the race to stewards ? I think that happens. and that is released to the public ? I'm not sure how or where actually as don't look that up. you are a fairly adept punter so probably don't need to use that sort of thing as a criteria either. (the gear the horse is wearing) Harness horses are exactly that . (covered in harness π€£) and we have a range of 'Go Faster' things we can apply to get that extra metre or 2 advantage in a driving finish . Just like Blinkers do for the gallopers. Chief just has his Bliknkers on regarding this subject π. he's not to worried about the metre or 2. that's alright . some trainers like the Hayes wiill pop them on Mr B and Win a Big race with their little bit of help anyway. -
Poor old Tim Williams was going to win this race on Tuesday , but his horse jumped out of his gear just when going to the lead. (in the chequers) So John Dunn won the race with the Death seat horse Dave Duley , who dug deep to win after tough run. (in the diamonds) What I noticed was, as Tim came charging home with his horse , you see the White Nasal strip (to help his airway by a mm or 2) John Dunn also using these patches with regularity. (and Allstars) Not strange to see it's the 3 Leading stables in the Country, that apply things to get that edge on the Opponents on these big racedays. Ironically , Tomorrow Showday in race 4 , the winning driver here John Dunn is driving that unlucky galloping horse for Telfer'sπ³ . Tim driving a stable-mate. SO IF ANY JUSTICE , MIKI BENNETT will be Winning race 4 , to make up for this Unlucky Miss on Tuesday here in photo. . Get on ! π€£ at 6-1 too π° , and stick some patches back on too Mr trainers .( every little thing helps) heeeeeere's Johnny

evening there Mr Galah. Yes having a great run is Todd lately The Kaikoura Cup with Mo'unga you never commented on ? he actually went very well in the Cup Tuesday . 6th I think. I took a big double (50 bucks worth anyway) with Marketplace and Borrisokane who both won super well , and in red hot form. Borris drawn the outside of gate tomorrow so let's see how that tests him. Keep an eye out for BUDDHA next time. Reagan Todd runner that was in Today at Ashburton. He came Whizzing home from the back , even while they were sprinting up fast (to get 2nd ) in race 10. A Super Run home by Buddha and he will win next time for sure and certain . (maybeπ)

BLINKERS ON First time...what took them sooo long???
Gammalite replied to Thomass's topic in Galloping Chat
what is ? There's heaps of factor's dismissed by grandstand experts who think they know reasons why a horse's chances are greater or lesser in a race. Nothing is Useless ??? the bloody trainers know what they're doing. Not the punters lol. The application of gear (deafeners used on a lot of harness horses) blinkers /blinds are ALL applied to give you just a small 'Help' in the closing stages of a race. difference of a metre or 2 sometimes like Mr B got. Every little thing you do / administer/ shoe/ feed / designed to give you the slight EDGE over the opponent you face on the day. Having a jockey like Jmac is a case where you gain a little edge as well. A bit less weight than some rivals. sometimes a good draw 'Helps ' keep you handy. a tongue tie, a slap on the bum π . all bits that might help? No good dismissing Any of the Criteria involving your horse as unnecessary/useless , that is applied by Trainers . Every little bit designed/applied to help for That moment in Time. The Trainers are Mostly Experts in their field. (I have a great example that i'll put in a photo on the harness thread of added gear) and a Hot Tip for tomorrow along with it ) -
Ashburton Thursday - No shortage of horses and races!
Gammalite replied to Brodie's topic in Trotting Chat
Well some professionals are still in action. Greg Sugars there on CATCHAFIRE driving a great race to beat John Dunn in the 7th. hezza ripper and looks after my $10ew nicely π°. thank you Greg. Might go $10ew 'Scarlets Legacy' in the 10th race now, to see if Greg can beat John again?. give em' grief son !!! Think 'Tower Of Love' for the Court team will be too strong for Greg's horse in the last race today. Bob Butt having some hair raising drives lately but should be able to get that one home . It went Huge last start and just missed. Might pop 20ew on it to win a hundy .(all going well π) -
Ashburton Thursday - No shortage of horses and races!
Gammalite replied to Brodie's topic in Trotting Chat
Here's what I put on a galloping thread earlier today >> Today at ASHBURTON the trotters use the mobile in race 1 ( that's sensible) BUT in races 3 + 6 + 9 with mammoth some 16 horse fields , the Starter is NO CHANCE of getting those 3 trots away from a stand without chaos.. There will be more gallopers than at Riccarton in those 3 races π.π. THE RESULT Race 1 had 3 gallop out at the start and that was mobile Lol (including hot fav with John Dunn driving. Race 3 . well here's the video . I think the commentator was worried none would finish at one stage. JUST a Disgrace to racing . What Punter Anywhere would put even Play money on this shambles/\??? Sets Trotting back Decades. to just AMATEUR Sport. crazy stuff. maybe they should abandon races 6 and 9 ? π€£ -
Lucky break for the favourite punters with that Laazrus Effect horse in that one. One of those was Bob Butt who got tipped out flat on the deck. The false start whistle went immeadiately , so that was a Good thing. Bob dusted a bit of the Addington track dirt off his silks , jumped back in , looped the field (when they got underway eventually) and Won by 4 lengths.* Very rare feat to win after rolling around on the ground for the same race π well done Bob ! ALAS , Thomass is right and the harness racing standing starts are a joke these days. Today at ASHBURTON the trotters use the mobile in race 1 ( that's sensible) BUT in races 3 + 6 + 9 with mammoth some 16 horse fields , the Starter is NO CHANCE of getting those 3 trots away from a stand without chaos.. Can't believe he fought back to win after Don't Dtop Dreaming clearly got past him 150m out on the inside. π³ after the amount of float and plane time spent by Swayzee the past 5 days . An absolute miracle to pull off a win like that. just doesn't't seem possible. A truly great training feat by Grimson. I can criticise No more. the guy Grimson is a magician.
