  1. Got the money just now in the first at Maryborough. blew $1.50 out to $2.10 . Reckon those that were burnt the other day when he galloped weren't gunna fall for that again 😁 Maryborough look after the trotters and sometimes have the entire Racecard for squaregaiters. today it's 5 trots and 3 pacing races. Good bet in the 5th for you Mr Galah. young kiwi lad Tristan Larsen on the Backmarker JOHNS BOY. You told me about him last Summer when he turned up in Victoria from the deep South of NZ. and he promptly won his first 3 runs ok. Last start Johns Boy beaten a nose by Kate Gath on a handy trotter in the Warragul Cup . they got home in 57 seconds this field today wouldn't trot a 57 second half mile on the back of the truck lol. 😎 He starts out the back on his own off 30m , but that's cool . no-one to interfere with him there. He'll win this at about 6-1 odds all going well πŸ˜‰. well worth a tenner. We had a trotter at Albion yesterday that looked a good thing named IZARRA . she won easy first up in QLD about 2 weeks ago and looks a real goer. Was off 50m handicap yesterday 2nd up and driver Chloe Butler didn't muck around and was in front after just 500m !! 😳 thought that was particularly good , in full field, especially with a red-back on it lol. went 57 her last half so just left em' to it. πŸ˜πŸ’° will keep winning that one for sure.
  2. Exactly this. All the betting companies want to know their customers. Brodster always wants to remain Anonymous and place whatever large bet he wants with the TAB like he did years ago. A thing of the past Brodie old mate. Of course the betting companies are taking large bets from known players. How do you think Boys Get Paid got to have so many BIG bets. they're known to the business. They will still take BIG BETS if you make yourself known to them and show some loyalty . (Place bets regularly with them at that sort of thing ) Kerry Packer could place million dollar bets with some of his Bookies . The most common is a bit like Boys Get Paid , in that syndicates are made , and place all the bets from the members on a Saturday with a regular front man who uses the betting company (as a 'supporter' and not someone trying to 'fleece them' for as much as they can. lol ) and tries to look after his clients but they win some -lose some. Waterhouse has many clients like that. They can take some pretty Big Bets on that way. Big 1000 dollar+ place bets from an anonymous TAB punter? . Not needed . a thing of the past . Can't blame em' really. why try and deal with that when you can rake in the Big galloping bucks ? lol. even a RICH CASINO limits the even chance bets to $500 a spin . also helps stop those 'Problem Gamblers' spending too much as well. and there's plenty of those. usually parked on Pokies these days though. (they get loyalty rewards as well , the more they spend. a TERRIBLE lure and sad thing really) rewarded for losing? lol. Which is why Horse race turnover has taken a significant downturn.
  3. Nice observation Mr Galah. and Ray Green is one of the 'very few' who pushed hard to get 2 year olds racing every year. He probably has more Numbers from the yearling sales to do it with. the big stables should try at least 10 yearlings each year (even more if possible) as one in 10 horses can usually make the races ok as a 2 year-old going by laws of averages and numbers) NZ trainers/owners traditionally give their horses extra time to develope and grow and are reluctant to push them to maximum thrust at a young age . wasn't long ago some NZ men didn't even race them as 3 yearolds on occasion. We are 6 weeks off half way mark through the 2 year old season and more should be stepping out now. but most will still wait till the Spring. QLD is fairly similar. Our weekly 2 year-old race ran yesterday ( with 6 starters) Winter a good time to Spell them generally and work them up through the Spring , and assault the Big Nov Dec racing which includes the rich Sires Stakes ( That Marketplace won brilliantly last year ) The best are still to come !. so don't panic yet . It's just cold old Winter at the moment.
  4. Great work TABman . you're the GUNman today and rack up the 12 points . BOAY INTERDOMINION Points Update Ranga 20 points , The Galah 16 points , TABman 12 points, Gamma 2 points , Brodster 1 point. In one of the best nights of Trotting ever seen in New Zealand you were lucky to attend that December night 2019. RACE 1 . winner Dina Bolt driver Natalie Rasmussen RACE 2. 3 yearold classic winner Copy That (future double NZ Cup winner ) 2nd One Change, 3rd Smooth Deal RACE 3. winner Oscar Bonavena driver Mark Purdon Race 4. 3 yearold Fillies Group 1 winner Amazing Dream driver Natalie Rasmussen Race 5. Queen of Hearts Group 1 Fillies and mares winner Belle of Montana owner Mr Dean Shannon with one of his horses at Barry Purdon n.b. No Allstars were in this race. Race 6. Interdominion trot Grand Final winner Winterfell driver Mark Purdon Race 7. Pacers Consolation winner Another Masterpiece driver Natalie Rasmussen Race 8. Interdominion Pace Grand Final winner Ultimate Sniper driver Natalie Rasmussen Race 9. support race winner Self Assured (NZ Cup winner a year later) driver Mark Purdon Race 10. non-descript low class trot won by Mango . an old mate of theirs lol So an Incredible SEVEN Big Winners to the ALLSTARS on the greatest night of All !!! they just 'owned ' that post-race Swab box 🀣. Allstars queuing up like you would for a Chief Stipe Shout at the Bar !!! Future Star pacer Copy That for Ray Green defeating Natalie and Mark into the placings by just a head margin in Race 2 to stop the 8 WIN Grand Slam . πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†.
  5. Dunn's have had a few indescretions as well and even had 4 horses Disqualified from races at Nelson as well in 2017. That seems a very serious state of affairs if you ask me. and They only got a fine, both Robert and John (which was cut in half on appeal ) a lot of other people wouldn't of got such a 'favourable outcome'. Just this month June, we are still getting 'Milkshakes' Australian backwater tracks and trainers. 3 so far I think. Old KARDESLER , you would remember having 60 odd starts in NZ around Addington and the traps 2016-2019. Even driven by Nathan Purdon a few times. He won another race just a fortnight ago at Mildura,VIctoria , and been Campaigning with a new trainer (Naomi Kerr) past 2-3 months. But just last Friday KARDESLER ran last in the race, after pulling hard and getting a bit rattled , took on the leaders , etc etc , and stopped to a walk after good form prior. the vet found the problem ok. Elevated TCO2. and Was Interesting to see a stable-mate who went round to take up the running Mid-race ( named 'Sneaky Philtra πŸ˜‚) went on to win easily as a heavy backed $1.90 favourite . πŸ€£πŸ˜‹ sneaky tactics alright lol. 😁 poor old 'Kardesler NZ'. probably deserves better than that , for trying so hard . for so many years.
  6. Spot on TABman. Ultimate Sniper 1st (never raced again after that win at Auckland 2019). The Fixer (Nz Cup win 2 years prior) 3rd, Cruz Bromac 4th (after NZ Cup just win a month before this Interdominion) , Ashley Locaz 6th and Chase Auckland 10th. So along with Winterfell driven by Mark to win the trot , that's 7 points to you. Any sign of the Drivers in that Pacing Final ? 5 points still awaits someone. BOAY bit of a yarn from Gamma is in 2019 I wrote to Kevin Seymour saying to "get his horse over to that Interdominion as he's a good'un and might win it , and he very might never get another chance to ever Win an Interdominion with a horse ever again" . So he sent his good horse over in the shape of 'COLT THIRTY ONE' and it run 4th (in the Consolation πŸ€£πŸ˜‚ ) and then Seymour Won the Interdominion Grand Final 4 years later at the end of 2023 with 'Leap To Fame' . haha Gamma wrong twice in the one go 😎. oh well , can't be a genius all the time 😁.
  7. His colours are blue like Nigels. maybe CJ de- after being told getting another whip fine/suspension ? πŸ˜‹
  8. OscarB looking good for NZ and a threat to win the Interdominion 2025. with a Big win in QLD last Saturday. Oscar Drawn out wide gate 6 this week though, so will be interesting to see what Sanderson does R4 this Sat. 1/ NZ doesn't run the Interdominion Grand Final night very often as the sport struggles for funding . The only time they had the Interdom in recent years Oscar Bonavana actually Won a Support race that very night lol πŸ˜†. But name his Illustrious Stablemate who trotted to Victory in that Trotters Grand Final run in NZ ? 2/ A smashing display of Allstars magic saw them Qualify 5 runners for the Pacers Final at that meet . 10 Points up for grabs if you can name any of the the FIVE (and their drivers)? . if you only can remember one or 2 please put them in as an entry 😊 and get some Points. here's the score so far.
  9. Well Robert Dunn was appointed to the HRNZ board about 3 years ago, and is NZ's leading trainer. At one stage he shared ownership in about 50 horses and at a point a few years ago he was supervising the Northern Team while John did Woodend. Is that still the case? As a member of the board does he (Mr Dunn) comment on what's going on with NZ harness racing ? or allowed to comment ? or does just gets paid behind the scenes ? Dean Shannon a bit of a loss to NZ via Entain , as he loves his harness horses and would of kept the game moving ahead in NZ. He raced about 70 horses at his peak in the 90's. Not sure how many he has now but still a fair few.
  10. Indeed . Here's Michael saluting proudly with whip held high, when he thinks he won the Biggest race of all . the Interdominion Trotting Grand Final. This one was at Addington 2003 where both Castleton's Mission for House , and Take A Moment for Tim and Anthony Butt had won heats. Of course Anthony Butt and Take A Moment are a Nose in front down on the Inner and have taken the Victory in the photo below on Grand Final night. Might be why Michael went amateur afterwards? following the BIG salute to the crowd while running 2nd ? πŸ˜‚πŸ€£
  11. Probably was. That being said GUS is an extremely Hard horse to drive. A bit in the Scotch Tar mould lol. Wolfie and Bob Cameron used to have all sorts of trouble driving him back in the day (when slim Dykman put them on) But they often Won with him anyway as were the Top of the Top as far as drivers go. Alas in his Interdominion Trot Final that No Response won at Addington , Scotch Tar broke on Wolfie and tailed out after starting near equal Favourite after winning his 2 mile heat in the same time as No Response in the other. Made up a huge amount of ground for 7th. Possibly could of Won without the 'gallop' alright. Our QLD trotter drivers not as experienced as the NZ ones in Big races, so that is a handicap for them for sure. Sanderson drove a great race for Mark on OScarB though last night. . so that was nice to see . Sanderson Also Won with RUBIRA for Marky as well . Was a quick first quarter, as he held the Dixon Colt out for the lead which surprised me. Rubira rallied Hard to Win very well too. Looks a Huge QLD Derby prospect.
  12. New Zealands Best Trotter , the millionaire OSCAR BONAVENA does Nz proud and donkey licks the locals at Albion park in preparation for his Interdominion tilt next month. Well driven in a spot-on 10/10 drive by Adam Sanderson from a bad alley , so I'll stop picking on him now lol 😎. The Galah Bags the 16 points for the competition πŸ† , with a fine second placing by his horse. and the Quinella paying $16. 'Zealous Spur' going quite well . well done Mr Galah. 'Gus' Locked wheels with some dipstick at the quarter but a great finishing burst saw him grab 3rd for Gamma (2pts) heading off the 'Love Gun' for Brodie late on , who ran 4th. (1 pt) BOAY INTERDOMINION Points Update Ranga 20 points , The Galah 16 points , Gamma 2 points , Brodster 1 point. Look out for a new quiz horse tomorrow sometime
  13. yes , he won by lengths today and very well could of given it a shake . FLOOZIE !! no not Chief. But the Dane Ripper winner for Tony Gollan and Angela Jones. beats up Team Waller 😎 Go the Queenslanders!!! . halfway through Quaddie with 2 picks 2 wins 2 to go . bring it on
  14. That's the way to knock off Jmac and Waller and all the Southern Big wigs. Chris Munce (all time nice guy) and son Corey in their first season as Partnership Trainers togeather. WIN the JJ Atkins Big 2 year-old with COOL ARCHIE . Cooool Banana's !!! what a little champ πŸ† stuck an unknown Irishman on to ride it too . Up the Battlers !!!! Nice win by PIER for NZ earlier today too Chief. one for the kiwi's today. Waterhouse knocked off the Waller wonders back into 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the BRISBANE CUP too. very nice. Waller has a few in the DANE RIPPER Mares shortly to make up for it . might run the Tri lol. what a great race-day .
  15. Great tracks like Harold Park , right in Sydney closed 2010 after decades of fine tradition (50,000 went along to see NZer Caduceus win the Interdominion. and so NSW Metro shifted to the Bush and Menangle with the 200 person crowd. People don't need to go on-course these days. All of us at the forum 'Do it from home' lol.πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‰ Vic trotting got chucked 40 kms out of town from Moonee Valley to Melton. They are currently trying to get back in to there as they are going broke, just like NZ harness. no one betting on them much. So you are right the Population is irrelevant. People don't bet on these things much now. The cost of living has greater priorities. Mortgages and rent are really expensive these days. πŸ™„. only the fairly wealthy bothering to race a horse these days. so Really if ATC sell Alexandra Park , and develope Franklin with the excess , and have it like Menangle or something, crowd and population figures don't matter. Those attending these meetings are friends and family of horses racing like unhinged Nigel and that. No Big time punters. they're at the gallops. πŸ˜† or using their computer at home. so look after the participants, like they do in NSW and VIC. don't shut the buggers down. Help them out . The ATC already own that asset at Franklin Pukekohe, so selling it will NOT achieve the best outcome, as it won't cover the entire debt. plus a lot of trainers and horses lose their home. Game OVER as they say .
  16. My goodness . you're getting more like the Brodster every day. you can decide if that's a smart thing or an aging thing .Chief seems grumpy ALL the time lately too. πŸ˜‚ cold weather NZ ? you have Moved from Auckland to Cambridge now to give them a hammering 😁 Betcha race and TAB trot are excellent and I enjoy them , and they pull a crowd for that event . and the Participants PAY a HUUGE chunk of the modern sized (deserved) Prizemoney on offer to the Best horses. so quite good πŸ˜‰ My question is What the Hell happened to Hutt Park ? What happened to Forbury Park ? Wellington and Dunedin have large populations and were unable the clubs were unable to keep trading , long before ALL the perceived 'Ailments' you and Brodie come out with all the time in recent times, blaming the Tab, HRNZ, CEO aussies and others that seem to be the ones that actually keep the Sport going IMO lol 😎 so seems to me with places like New Plymouth Paceway 'gone as well into Oblivion' for example, that I really enjoyed racing at . all your ailments have been Happening for A LOT longer than what you guys make Out. JMHO
  17. About time . think it was 2020 he went out DQ. Appealed a heap of times at the Totally rediculous length of sentence for administering milkshake race-day of 8 years . Failing again in his appeal last May 2024. Perhaps he appealed again this year ? and someone at HRNZ has seen the light and re-licensed him. (the penalty in Aus for milkshake is one year DQ, and would be longer if offended a 2nd time)
  18. Looks like you haven't made these Amatuer races non tote yet to avoid all this trouble. as Nowornever once said maybe it's so you can back Ms Wigg who seems to win all these type of races. he was right too and she took the win again. Any driver Not in the correct position at the start should be fined. I even remember Mark Purdon getting fined for hanging back once , when drawn high on the second row lol. Even the greatest can go astray sometimes 😁 They had that time when the 2 HOPE trained horses starting numbers 5 and 6 in the score up but the 6 scored up INSIDE the 5 and the race was run. that was quite comical that no-one noticed (horse or starter) in the score-up πŸ˜‚
  19. absolutely true. for the routine slow class horses meetings. I go along 2 or 3 times a year in QLD. Saturday night had a fairly mild numbered crowd , even with Leap To Fame racing. The day meetings are incredibly quiet , with most horses not even having their owners attending it seems. It's just a business for the Trainers and their staff to operate and compete at as a sport. Up in the grandstand . just a handful of people. I asked one of the officials why no-one here? since most (nearly all) of the suburban TAB outlets have closed the past 3 years. His answer was , we don't want them at the track . Ladbrokes (the Main sponsor ) want them at home hammering their keyboard with bets rather than using the TAB. they spend Way more money that way. And the cost of Security is nil now as it was a huge expense before ( and tote staff, bar staff , etc) Security at sports events is a huge expense like at the footy and that. and indeed the young lass that took my order for a beef roll for lunch , then dashed around to the bar (not far from the eats) when I approached it , as she was serving the drinks as well !! 😳 that's how quiet it is . the food orders girl also serves the bar. The racing was still quite good with amazing horsemen out on the track , so still very hard to Win a Race.
  20. you wrapped that 6 points up like an old bit of gum mate. Very well done. Call Me Now too slick in the slop β›ˆοΈ. Masterly was trained by Paul Nairn in NZ just last summer I see . and See he won 4 of his last 10 starts too for the great Trainer of trotters as well . very nice. Will be hard to beat NZ old mate 'OscarB' this week though lol 😎 An interesting thing from that 1995 Trotting Grand Final at Addington was the red Hot favourite, after Winning both his heats impressively, was DAVID MOSS. Maurice McKendry driving . But isn't he was a South Island horse? anyway DAVID MOSS got held up along the inner after drawing one on the 2nd line for the Grand Final and ran 4th. He went to Australia and won 3 out of 4 starts he had there , and this was enough for DAVID MOSS to be voted Australian Trotter of the year 1995 πŸ˜‚. Aussie trotters must of been pretty crappy πŸ™„ . New Zealand trotters Won all 10 of the Trotting Grand Finals All through the 1990's . a Fantastic Achievement.
  21. you're only a youngster Ranga. plenty of drive in you yet. Join the local cricket Club if you want to chew your Wrigley's. Tubby Taylor, Warnie, Waugh 's never seen without some lol . Here's one for you in photo my friend . Having drawn MASTERLY for this Saturday night. Might spring memories of a dreary Wet Addington a long time ago when this horse beat not one , but 2 Interdominion Trot Grand Final Winners into the placings. 1/ Can you name this trotter, driver, trainer .? 2/ The 2 Stablemates that ran 2nd and 3rd were both Grand Final Winners too? . Whatta trifecta of Greatness !!! Anyone can answer to get points ahead of Ranga, if they're up to the challenge . 😁
  22. Ranga leads the BOAY Interdominion Competition points 14 - 0 so far. So in an endeavour to get some BOAY slow beginners 'off the mark' we will use the greatest Mark of all (Mark Purdon ) to earn someone someone some points. Mark part owns and trains the NZ star trotter OSCAR BONAVENA . a huge chance in the trotting Interdominion. In the field Race listed above OscarB should be able to 'clean up' local QLD opposition no trouble at all. QLD very weak as far as trotters go. Oscar B had a Summer campaign in Aus that netted 2 wins from 5 starts in Vic and NSW when driven by the late great Greg Sugars for a win and ex-pat NZ great Anthony Butt in another. For the BOAY Comp , I will Quinella OSCAR Bonavena with your runner and the Quinella Divvie will be your points scored at the completion of the race. . here's your runner to Quinella with him as your alter Ego rep πŸ˜‰. Race 4 Albion Sat night at 8.57 NZ time. TAB4ever gets number 1. as blazes about the place like a 'Fireball' lol. Rangatira gets the number 3. a great old kiwi horse he would of seen many times. and Ranga 'Masterly' has the lead. Brodster gets number number 5 as Loves to Gun down the TAb entain ATC HRNZ + anyone in the firing line😎 NoworNever gets number 7 as Not as Promised a three barrelled name statement , just like himself. Blackie gets number 9 as doesn't mind a 'Victory' so can Victree deliver. The Galah on number 10. he is a zealous runner and birds have spurs don't they? for mating or defending territory 😁 Chief on number 12 , probably won't get a run. The class of field a bit seemingly a bit too strong for him πŸ˜‹ Gamma lucky 13 . G is for Goodness gracious Gamma and Great Galloping Gus too. (Hopefully minus the gallop bit ) ANYone is Welcome to Enter Just POST your Quinella pick numbers here ( before the race lol) and you are in with a chance for points. Points will be allocated for the Placegetters as well. (The Hardy competitors above with a runner, are also welcome to enter their own Quinella selection of course ) POST 2 Horse Numbers here is all you need to do to enter . race 4 Albion Sat.
  23. Good to see Chief has come out of oblivion to try and get involved in the Interdominion .😁 Here we have the Trotters field for this Saturday night Albion, of horses trying to get into the Interdom heats. we will use this race for the BOAY Interdominion Competition this week. I may have to allocate the runners if the BOAY trotting stalwarts are unable to pick the Quinella to gain points 🀣. Chief's 'Alter Ego' πŸ˜‰ from NZ No 12 in the below race, has had a few Issues , and gone cranky with manners, BUT after 10 trials this year (where he galloped madly everytime nearly) , he's gone through 2 more trainers and Lo and Behold some new trainer has miracles up, and has got him to Trot all the way and he qualified the other day at the trials to race from the mobile once again. Alas he is balloted out as Emergency but great to see him still having a crack at making it too the July Interdominion.πŸ˜‹ Form Horse Trainer Other Eng. 24. nearly. behind the winner 1999 Special Force (Todd McFarlane) trotted in AFRICA (CJ Defilippi )2nd, PRIDE OF PETITE (Marky)4th, SUNDONS WAY (TonyH ) 7th, SUNNY ACTION (big Barry driving for little brother) 8th. Pride Of Petite had run 4th the Previous year as well with Mark driving , But his Stablemate BUSTER HANOVER won the final (with brother-in-law Tony Herlihy driving) . They were both off the backmark of 30m at Harold Park too, so was a supreme effort to run 1st and 4th from back there. Pride of Petite one of the Best Handicap achievers of all time though , getting into the Interdominion HAll of FAME with a Pair of Grand Final Magnificent Victories herself off 30m at Moonee Valley 1996 (driven by Mark) and a hefty 40m at Adelaide Globe Derby Park 1997 (driven by Tony ) defeating the local hero Wagon Apollo of Graeme Lang's both times. here she is . Pride of Petite had 6 of her 8 foals get to the races but were only battlers who scratched about a long time to get just 2 to 3 wins each roughly. nothing like their sensational mother.
  25. been some good ones over the years.
