Queensland just pays a Bonus to a Qbred horses first race win . That seems to work well. Bloke winning the first race last Monday was quite delighted , and encouraged to breed on with his 2 Mares now. excellent. There is a NSW Bonus for $1,000,000 about to go to Swayzee. (after 3 more country NSW Cup wins to go) I was quite annoyed about this at first , as thought why does one horse already winning Victoria and NZ Cups need another million ??? but I have changed tune now after seeing his 2nd Nz Cup win. . 1/ some people in little out-side town country trotting communities get to see the Star of the show. And the owner (Bootsey) will Buy up a lot more horses with the proceeds (probably from NZ supporting the breeding industry there) and placing them with about a dozen different Trainers about the place. Even supporting a couple of young lady trainers here in Queensland . So All good 😁 !! Go Swayzee !!!

The whole thing was stupid as you say. dragging it out like that. Better if the Stipes just watched the video over and over, decide if there was foul driving 'Immeadiately'. Get the betting sheets to cross check . (It's like flying a bloody airplane lol) and make an Immeadiate decision.) Police can get access then to the phone records of the parties if charges are laid. (for evidence) Job done !! (unlike Ben Yole lol 😁) I had a stable raid at the stable I was in , in NZ once, 4 stewards jumped out of a car and Immeadiately started asking questions. I Lied to them straight out . nothing honest about it. About something I said at the trials the previous day about a horses identity. You Lie when the going gets tough. to cover for yourself and your team. they got in car and drove away . problem solved. Yeay , I wasn't meaning the Apparell. I was talking about the response of the People Under investigation. Can you imagine how TENSE some of those situations are ? (not meaning a pitchfork) example D.Douglas hid in the dog kennel when the raid was on. (he was DQ at the time and not spose to be near horses) Example when they were catching Emma Stewart stable doing the race day treatments (something they got McGrath for there I think) can only Imagine how Tense those situations were/are .

a bit of a silly way to look at things Chief. Assumptions from a photo ? really. The RIU is doing a job that is VERY VERY hard. I didn't become a stipe because I hated the idea of stable raids. And people just Bull-Shit non-stop when it comes to crime and charges of anything at all. Doesn't look like it for their Flagship lol. 😅. should be worth 500k . The Aussie came and conquered last year. Maybe New Years Eve date can Stop that happening.? Do yourself a treat Mikey and look at the Brilliant driving display on 31st December 2020 that defeated the star horse COPY THAT. One of the Best races I've ever seen on the planet (top 10) Maurice McKendry feeling the heat in that one as the Copy That driver. what a treat for the Auckland Racegoers !! they should do New Years Eve every Year and have a party after. 🕺🍻 Anyway the Great race again saw the downfall of Copy That (the Double NZ Cup winner) April 21st 2023 to a famous Quinella again. Another fabulously Crafted race , with Blair getting out driven this time . The AUCKLAND Cup should be a Highlight Race of the year. for 'Open class' after the NZ Cup and FFA.

Both the runners were well in the market there in that Manawatu race. Any idea on the amount BET that was placed on the winner to get everyone's Hackles Up ?? as far as the drive goes, any pre race discussion about who is leading is fine by me, even if recorded. Is good to know who is gunna press on and who isn't rather than guessing . If Blair had decided pre-race he was gunna hand up to that other horse is perfectly normal . people get driving instructions ALL the TIME from trainers too. (Allstars are absolute marvels at it over the years. 100% impressive ) Blair didn't seem to reduce his horses chances at all, (and neither did old mate Leonard Cain in that Queensland example up above) Plenty of Horses win getting a mid-race breather behind the leader. Blair tried it with DON'T STop Dreaming in the NZ Cup recently. Should of just left the Aussie parked Out in my opinion as he (DSD) could of won it then? . Did my 50 bucks on DSD cold lol. 🤣

The only thing you could say is that Blair Orange was looking for that runner to come up and take the lead , even from early in the race , but that didn't really effect his horses chances of winning at all. The winner had to do 'the work' around the field mid-race , after drawing wide at the start. A good win . Blair had the sit on it last lap . No problem . could of beat it if his horse was good enough. VERDICT = Not Guilty Your Honour.

Fair enough. i shouldn't comment on how people handle it mentally (being accused of something) especially since the examples I quoted did have some quilt attached , whereas Brodie and Trojan are mentioning there is a lot of innocent parties involved , and they spent big dollars. The case here with Shane Graham and Vicki Rassmuseen was quite sad as just a DQ trainer wanting a few bucks. I know the owner well of the horse that won the race. (he has a share in Magacian there at Dalgety's too) and he knew Zip Zero about that race day. Leonard Cain was charged initially too , a young driver and terrific bloke , as was driving a noted front runner , but handed the lead up to the stable-mate driven by Graham. That one move could of destroyed his career. But thankfully they dropped the charges against him as was just following driving instructions in the end. Leonard ran 2nd on the stable-mate in photo. Shane got 2 years, and trainer Vicki a term out. as well . No mucking around here with funny games lol. The GOOD News is in recent years Vicki races Nzer TURN IT UP year to year on lease from NZ and he's earned 100k per year for her , with Shane Training !! bless the old horse. and them too. The horse winning this mid week race was only average . Sold off to Ben Yole Satable in Tasmania in the end. They tried several angles of pinning 'Race Fixing ' on Ben Yole rather Ironically. He had the whole field of runners many Tassie races 😅😂 incredibly stupid idea. Needed INCA to sort that mess out.???? 😂 He got banned in the end anyway. wonder how his mental health is these days ?? lol.

That in a sentence is the crux of the problem. Unfortunately they changed ye old race fixing to 'Match fixing' instead a few years ago so the Harness (or racing) people could no longer deal with it themselves. It's a criminal charge and those accused are 'Arrested' initially. My Personal opinion is it happens all the time (every week) in a small way. EXAMPLE Why isn't it match fixing if an owner is told his horse will be taken back and then try and follow the stable-mate up the last half around the field and come around it late on for victory. So the owner puts $100 win on. The plan works . stable-mate used as the bunny ? 🙄 . Match fixing ?? to a degree. the bunny was used to help another horse with an investment on it win ? . Is it how much money is invested on a runner that leads to charges being laid then ? probably. (and from what source) jockeys and football players just use their mum's names for the investments lol 🤣

Who was convicted ? Can't be wrongfully convicted if they weren't convicted in the first place ? Thought you said they found nothing. Amanda Turnbull was arrested here by the police . Then the charges were dropped later . think other very prominent Horsemen Nathan Jack and Mark Pitt were convicted instead. Jack faced 39 charges. At least they did their time and back winning Group 1's . just get on with it even after conviction. No one cares about Stigma and mental and shit like that. It's whether they can train and drive winners. And they are Big-time. Just have to toughen up and get on with it. Plenty of people have mental health issues. In fact everybody does. The real problem with Match Fixing is It's a Police Criminal charge . and the police are slow to uncover /prove anything as are dealing in an area that requires Specialist knowledge . (i.e How a Race Is Run) If handled correctly a matter like this is Clear Cut . 2 (or more ) drivers work in collusion to obtain a winning result in a race , from the Investment Betting On it > You could find out in Minutes from Betting agencies what bets are on a race . ????? And you can watch the race Video and decide on the driving tactics in Minutes ???? A race Fix is So damn obvious it should Slap you in the face . NOT to Be confused with 'Team' driving that happens ALL the Time. (there's no betting on them) A Race fix has a large/ some sort of betting outcome. We have small time race fixes that aren't traced somewhere in Aus every month. Shane Graham (and trainer Vicki Rassmussen ) had a famous one in Brissy 2017 when a disqualified former trainer wanted to put $3000 on a runner. Very easy to trace. Shane (one of our leading trainer drivers got a 2 year stretch. It's as clear as day . Vicki was DQ for a term as a trainer too. That punter is a MORON doing that to them for personal gain. It's that SIMPLE . A race Fix should take about 1/2 hour to prove ? not major 6 year investigations lol. 🤣 Keystone Cops you say ?? . a few interesting points. There is a lot of overlap. I'm always concerned for the long term survival of the participants. they will be worse off if the trotting collapses. It's just a sport . A lot of people's involvement is just for fun. The South Island have much more people participating in that capacity at the moment. The persons 's writing on this thread all enjoy the sport , and participate via betting and even expressing ideas on forums, etc and doing stuff like Unhinged ,etc. Brodie (and others) often points out the betting product is Poor in the North due to numbers and quality. ( say compared to odds at Motukarara the other day and Cup week with some good winners ) that may be so , but condemn it because of that seems harsh. I attended Albion Park yesterday (along with 6-10 other patrons 😆) in a city of millions , and observed some mild action , no one bets on it. It's just people enjoying their sport. a bit like Manawatu say. The ATC has problems that everyone knows. The fields are good this week though on Friday , but you guys writing don't support them greatly, because you like the South Island numbers/betting / Clubs better. A bit like some folk support a footy club over others. Fair enough. But like the footy (where in the AFL Victoria has over half the teams , and they always cry 'foul' because the 7 interstate teams gets lots of concessions to remain established and get a base of players in their states. ) But NZ is STILL a One STATE Nation. and this Constant Splitting of North Island v South Island Harness is just Rubbish to be honest , and of course HRNZ has to support both Islands to the best of their Capabilities. If the Southerners are crying Foul , because racing for less money , maybe they should Move there ??? 👍😅 Bit warmer, nicer for training horses, keeps the industry going. that would help. Dean Shannon popped 17 horses with Barry/Scott and is helping. North has a fine tradition just as the South. ???? Why should they 'cave in' when you have great players like Barry Purdon winning the NZ FFA and Velocity recently, Ray Green winning the NZ Cup twice recently (before the Aussies) , One of the greatest harness men ever seen in Tony Herlihy driving and training, The Butcher Team , outstanding horsepeople like The Neals, The Hacketts, McGowans, the Fergusons , the Blanchards the Cooneys, Arna Donnely doing great job lately . I'd argue the Better Strength Is in the North . 👍🏆 you guys a bit weak down there lately 😅🤣 TABman would argue that Oscar B is a northerner now ? along with Mark😋. and he saved the day beating Just Believe . go the Northerner !!! lol.
