White Flag ? with no Oscar π . Lucky the kiwi cricketers were braver than that against the Indians while playing test cricket recently π . The Northern Team very small on Number , but let's have a look. Race 3/ Sugar Ray :strong chance of 2nd Race 4/ Racey Girl : strong chance of 2nd Race 5/ Sandra Dee : like wise , plus that other Grease runner #14 Hot FAV Race 7/ Next level, Better Knuckle Up 2nd, Jerimiah $3 FAV in the 3 yearold classic Race 9/ Mach Shard (probably gallop away) Merlin Hot FAV , Cold Chisel , Big LEB, in the flying stakes. Race 11/ Mantra Blue: Red Hot Fav in the Mares sprint. Looks like a NEAR WINNING SLot TABman ? could get 40 points . verdict : OSCAR BONAVENA claim as a North Islander REJECTED. BUT because I'm a considerate bloke π and uncertain whether Amanda Telfer is based in the North Island (while Steve does the South) or any sort of set-up like that, you can have their 3 runners. Alta Meteor R9, Bettor's Anvil R3, Sweet Diamond R11. ooh la-la

Can't agree with that. one of the best 'Horse minds' in the history of racing has returned. Graeme Rogerson . Won the Melbourne Cup (although more of a LLoyd Williams success that one) but also a Cox Plate and lately Sharp and Smart . Big wins in Sudney and Nz Derby. and he races trotting horses to boot , that are currently winning each week (with help from James Stormont.) left but came back to support Nz racing. Wiremu Pinn came back? . seems a solid type of jockey. 'Can't Kach Me' last Saturday he saidπ. Nathan Purdon was winning Group 1's in Australia for Nz owners of Amore Vita who won all sorts not long ago, He has Amazing Dream winning Group 1's too for her American owners while in Oz. Nathan has returned to NZ now, as ''knows' there to be a Future for Nz racing. Please Just tell the bugger to get fit , and drive them himself like his World Class dad did. π. instead of slacking off on the sidelines. I saw him win 14 races driving in 3 weeks once in a QLD raid with a team of Trittons . so know he can drive a bit.

Trainer + Partners Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young doing great kiwi success TABman. currently in Vic. formally of Cambridge. A few years ago they won the Auckland Cup with Sangster , a horse they won the blue riband Victoria Derby with as well. Tagaloa a huge fairly recent 'Blue Diamond' winner too. This Week Trent and Natalie (a winner over a breast cancer battle recent times) have a Great Chance in the time honoured Victoria Derby with KEENELAND on Saturday. best of luck to em'!!! They are very respected kiwi horse trainers having great success with many winners . Uncle Bryn at 70-1 the other day in the Paris Lane Stakes too. π°

Slots are filled. Westview in the Number 5 slot. Have noticed that UNHINGED has the Junior driver on his horse 'Rock Lobster' in R6 . junior Korbyn Newman driving the 'Lobster' , and also driving 'Hi Life' in R1 from the Dunn stable as well so some sort of chance. So in respect for Nigel, BOAY can give a Slot for his horse, (and picks up the Carter Dalgety drives too, for a bit of fun.) Rock Lobster possibly getting his only career chance in a slot race. π See you for the BIG Day Monday ππ» hope you all get to see the great racing. Will post some updates here throughout the Day Monday of the great Harness Racing action and Slot points gained as we go along .

One of This years winning owners is like a Chief Stipe too π. The big Collingwood AFL player (back in the 90's) Michael Christian is the Match Review decision man for the AFL , and suspends/fines anyone throwing the punches and not playing by the rules. A nice day out at the Everest last week for him. (excellent Willow ride too π, the guys a marvel)

Critics abound when ever something , or someone new comes along Chief. Some at other places even turn to Toilet humour today which was totally as low as they can go. quite pitiful to see what gang mentality does to those previously more thoughtful people. I'm sure the lads here really mean 'Wow Wee' this is Great !!. the way of the future . And they'll be watching for 100% certain when the Kiwi raceday arrives. critic or not. Some old boys get a bit grumpy when you take away their Weetbix they've had for years and replace it with cornflakes. It's A bit more crunchy for the poor chaps but they get used to it in the end. and hopefully teach themselves how to enjoy it better. Go NZ Kiwi !! best of luck to that first entrant. Gotta be in it > to Win It.

The Galah One Slot left to fill, for a Junior Player to take on all the Junior drivers. Will be riding with the Republican Party in the Flying Stakes too.

What is this?. Claiming Oscar and DSD as North Islanders. Bit of contraversy there. ππ TABman pulling the whip early . looking for strong recruits. those parochial Southerners will be having kittens thinking of the current Dominion H'cap champ 'OscarB' and NZ Cup hope 'Don't Stop Dreaming' as North Islanders π sure, Oscar went up to Cambridge 'on holiday' with Mark to visit his partner for a wee while. Think DSD just went to Hayden Cullens though, for his pre-training before returning to Rolleston. Northern Raiders more likely Ray Green's team, Zac with Mantra Blue, and BarryP/ScottP with their 10 runners. Nice try TABman > but this isn't rugby ππ

Looks Like Muscle Mountain has pulled out of the Trotters Sprint already when hearing you had taken on the WOODEND slot Mr Brodie π that's a bit of bad luck lol. (ya still got Mr Love , Midnight Dash and High Grove running in that race anyway ) I see Got The CHocolates has drawn the Ace in race 3 , the Sires Stakes Heat. Looks a living certainty on his huge runs lately from bad draws. there's No 'Marketplace' in this race either. So is my best of day and should be winning for your WOODEND slot , and Mikey's GOOD Draw Slot , and Chief's 3rd WORLD Slot as well (3rd at last start) Give it strength π°π (and now he runs for the GALAH's Three Barrelled name SLot too lol ) looks sure to get the choc's alright. π«

Can it beat 'JENNI ' High Tailing It out in front though Chief. ? I had the ''Brightside' Champ in the COX last year and Jmac Won the race by a short half snotter with some Asian Horse. wonder if history repeats ? Must be some sort of good chance too. LLoyd Williams preparing Many a Melbourne Cup winner over the years. Racing Victoria always refused to give him the trainers License for some reason . Must of not been able to fill the required criteria or something. Anyway the Billionaire raced his horses in many trainers names from his property , and took a few victories. NZer dual code expert, Graeme Rogerson was one of them a while back . with Efficient . Point King will run for Jamie with a Stack of Williams multiple Cup winning experience for sure, to bring him right into play for a Cup win for Jamie if he draws reasonable. -
Well the Official Starter is the Boss. Drivers are fined if they don't follow his instructions. Drivers will be trying things that are 'Best for their horse' otherwise , whether it in-conveniences rivals or not. sometimes that the whole idea even. From the mobile drivers often get fined in Australia if 'Out Of Position ' at the starting point. Which means wasn't on the gate. Some try to hang back now and then. To get cover and running lane position as quickly as possible after the start. They tend to have them at 3/4 pace as they reach dispatch now , rather than flat out like they did on occasion. NZ has a lot of stands with drivers doing their thing. The start of the fast class was Interesting the other night . the winner Tact McLeod away well and working 3 wide to get on the pace, and when they settled there was like 20 lengths first to last because of the Horrendiously over sized field. 15 just too many. they're way too far back to be any chance. They only came home in 57 seconds (slow half really for fast class) and yet some of the back markers in the running were finishing 10 lengths from Tact McLeod at the line. Perhaps stands should be banned ? and have all mobile. give em' All a chance to Win ? The start of the Ashburton Flying Stakes will be like that too. Be more like the Ashburton 'Fly To Bits' Stakes π. should run it as a mobile and starter will have No worries then. ??? I reckon Mach Shard (with no hopples ) and Beach Ball are some sort of chance of blowing the start drawn 1 and 2 and interfering with the second row and ruining the race next Monday. Wait and see Monday. Both of those should of been drawn unruly IMO. The poor starter bloke will have to be on his game π

Junior Drivers Championship- Well Done The Ladies!
Gammalite replied to Brodie's topic in Trotting Chat
yes , was just having a bit of a joke at the end. Of course I know a whole heap of participants in the North Island , and none at all in the South. so have a bias for the North. As far as Industry stability goes, the South have the Sale of Forbury to work with as far as Financial investment for the future goes. some of your ideas were good in that area. Seemed the only solution for Auckland would be a sale as well ?? after the Unfortunate death of the bloke (ATC club president ) that time after he was instigating all the apartment real estate stuff that went pear-shaped. Would of thought selling the whole course would of been the answer (like Sydney did with Harold Park , (even though HP was a close-to-city icon for decades with countless champions and Friday night entertainment) . ATC > To clear the debt and invest in a course down towards the Waikato? . Use the current Waikato as the country horses track on Fridays, and a Brand new spanker state of the art track with training barns, for newcomers and all the modern things, to get the North a BIG future. Go Meadowlands type Big lol. Instead they're trying to sell Franklin just to pay the debt? where the hell will the person's train that are training there now go ? the North will fizzle out π has Manawatu stopped already? -
Junior Drivers Championship- Well Done The Ladies!
Gammalite replied to Brodie's topic in Trotting Chat
lol . you guys are cool . you can feel the North v South Island vibe right through.π think a lot of good points and some funny flexible ones. Junior drivers : TABman giving Crystal and Zev the Top NZ billing after the Championship, but of course the South have/had SarahO recent years and now Carter with a NZ Cup runner. All square after one bout. Race drivers : Blair-Tim-MarkP-JohnD v Zac, AGH, wizards magicians and musicians. Points to the South Island in that battle. Best Horses: Well the richest man has purchased good ones to race at Barry's for a few years now so has Merlin currently, who tipped over Don't Stop Dreaming in the Derby and Race by Grins. Steven Reid just beat up the Aussies with 'Coastal Babe'. BarryP and Phelan just Quinellaed the 2 year old trot feature at Addington, Duchess Megxit too. Points to the North. Best Trotters: Bernie doing a good job in the North every week with big team of trotters, equalled by the 'Hope' team in the south. but with Dunns , Williamsons, and Paul Nairn an easy one for the South to take the points . BIGgest races: Nz Cup the main one , but attempt at match-up by AKLD Cup (2mile stand) as is the Rowe Cup v Dominion. the good Slot Grin at Cambridge about to be equalled at Addington with 2 3 yearold slot races. Excellent stuff !! points shared BEST racing : Brodster and some are thinking the North Island racing is boring. (they obviously don't watch any Oz racing π) but if that is the consensus of opinion. South Island take home the points Betting : The bigger fields and more horses racing seem to be favourable to the NZ Punters that are counting those sort of things, as of course with more numbers in a field the better odds you can get (Like with Republican Party and Tact McLoed , Rush, etc recently) so the South Island is better for odds and to bet on if that's what you're after. Points to the South. Chance of Winning : with the excellent racing at Cambridge each week , with races supplied for even the slowest of horses racing All the smaller trainers and Owners are getting some winners. Very hard to win a race in the SI. Dreams are Free even struggling in the deep South. easy Points to the North there. Turnover : All the accountants are trying to shoot the North Island racing for this. They have come up with reasons like who watches trots on a Tuesday? etc. Just race on a Saturday night then ?? is the easy answer and bus coach over the punters from Ellerslie (a short fun trip) every Saturday afternoon to have dinner and bet into some Alexandra Park action. People back at the TROTS instantly and turnover increasing. anyway π Points to the South who have good Sunday action. Financial Situation : The North badly effected by the $100mill debt from the apartments, and so trying to sell off Franklin training set-up to cope . very poor decision. In the South Forbury Park sold and they have money to invest into something for the future. The Galah had some excellent ideas. Points to the South TAB/ ENTAIN support : a national problem? . Brodie has the ideas to fix it up ? no points HRNZ support : they are the national body so Support BOTH Islands . Slot races are coming in to help with having BIG Prize races. This is important . Attracts Outside interest. slot holders , Aussies, party goers lol, (think they have a concert Grins race day like a mini Everest Day) They Allocate the prize money for regular racing as they See Fit , to help the Participants KEEP Going in this amazing Sport of Harness Racing. Good on em' !!!!!! heap of points to them FINAL SCORE = South Island 6 Points v North Island 2 points v 2 or 3 shared points South Island wins π !!!, so solution = close/boycott North Island Immeadiately and send all those great Trainers and horses to OZ so we can enjoy their efforts, wins and betting here. ππΊ -
The ''Ascent'' Slot race for 3 year old trotters
Gammalite replied to Gammalite's topic in Trotting Chat
The Ascent favourite steps out today in the Victoria trotting Derby heats. KEAYANG ZAHARA. Mick Guerin will be watching intently.π They get him over to Oz for our Victoria Cup TV night each year, as it is broadcast on national TV free to air. (which we get only twice per year) and he gives the expert analysis. put his foot in it a bit this time . so on the big program last Saturday night , the Victoria Trotters Oaks was reduced to last race on the card, and the local presenters were completely Waxing Lyrical about the prospects of Keayang Zahara for the Oaks and for her career. (Looking like the Best trotter ever, etc) they were very excited and glowing about her. All of a sudden Guerin pips in with "Seen it all before , good trotting filly as a 3 year old and they do nothing afterwards." The team looked a little shocked at his lack of enthusiasm. (These type of shows seem to want to elevate every horse, trainer, and driver to superstar level with any amount of superlatives used throughout the night .good, great, best, excellent used a thousand times on the night to describe anything that moved) so Mick Guerin continues "Yeah just 4 years ago PINK GALAHS was trotting to many victories as a 3 year old , including winning the Derby against the boys , and even a Group 1 Open class trot, but didn't fire much in the years after" (n.b did win a Group 1 at Brisbane as a 4 yearold Mick) and " 7-8 years ago DANCE CRAZE won all her 3 year old trotting filly races , and a narrow 2nd in the Victoria Derby (the plum 3 year old trot of Australia). But not really a great older trotter. " Mick doing a great job as a kiwi Wet Blanket standard, π with his straight face look down the camera. I think they wanted to blast him with the fire extinguisher then in the studio, as he certainly put a Dampener on the night. . I couldn't stop laughing to tell the truth. He may be right and she (Keayang Zahara) won't go on with it. But talk about Flatten the moment lol. She won the Oaks by 6 lengths after that so Mick not quite as negative after the race. Wasn't allowed to be I don't think π luv ya work Mick. classic kiwi. π Someone should tell him Dance Craze did go on and win the Great Southern Star at 25-1 one year, expertly 'catch' driven by Mark Purdon no less, in the richest race there is for trotters. so not too shabby. Mick a harsh judge. wonder what he thinks of Sunny's Sister? Best of luck Keayang Zahara for Vic Derby , and her Ascent quest and for kiwi's Breckon and Cole in their slot in a few weeks time. -
Well 'Boris the horse' was 10 lengths better than that lot in the final Junior race at Addington race 5. Looks like Crystal Hackett will be the Junior driving Champion running 2nd with that outsider getting home late for 2nd place I suspect ? She didn't get a winning drive in the 5 race series eitherπ€ . just a quick check and it's 6th, 11th, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd. Now who said you can't WIN when running 2nd ??? π€£. Congrats to Crystal ( if she took it out ) .

Darren Weir Descision Released: Could be back training next year!
Gammalite replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
they're different Chief. The first sentence of four years was for 'Possession' of the jiggers. Seems there must be a rule somewhere , where Licensed Trainers are not allowed them in their possession . I've seen them on farms though , along with electric fences too. π€ The 2nd charge is from actually using them said jiggers on 3 horses. (Video evidence is available I believe somehow) . now that is very damning. and how did his accomplices get off so light. That's a much much more serious charge? IMO it is anyway. you've got 'proven deliberate animal cruelty' involved then. way more serious than just having the damn things. as far as 'possession' goes , I could have a cellar full of medieval torture devices. I might be a collector , but should I be charged with anything ? If I went to use them on someone then YES. But what's in my cellar should be my business if I don't. I accept that 'weapons' should be licensed. wonder if crossbows have to licensed? It is interesting what you are allowed to possess. now where's my afternoon stash I wonder π -
Well the Drivers were given a Very 'Serious' Examination of driving skill last night at Addington, in a loose class trot from a stand.π Half the field galloped and the other half trotted very roughly at times π€£. Great start bursting off the mark by Crazy N Love though for Greg and Nina Hope. and in a well rated display by the young lass Kerryn Tomlinson in front, the horse went on to win well. So after 4 races we have Kerryn , Olivia, Seth Hill , and Zev Meredith with Winning drives. One race to go at Addington Friday !!! here's the Points . Zev Meredith leads the series with 37 points just one clear of Tomlinson on 36, with Crystal Hackett and Hill on 33, Carter Dalgety and Olivia Thornley on 31 and Max Hill on 29. Com'on Carter Dalgety . A fav of Brodies. the Brodster is relying on you to get WUHAN home from the Good Barrier draw and NOT let these Northerners get the Championship Win at Addington. (with Zev and Crystal prominent on the leader board) ..... Hope that Wuhan doesn't get any more Covid fever or anything π
-
Looks like they are trying to get the Top Nz Trainers of trotters to race for the better money. They race for $15,000 each of those 3 maidens Friday , compared to $8000 per race tonight. The maiden trot Friday Race 1 has the best in the country trotting gait stables of Nairn, Williamson, Jones and Dunns with their runners in racing for the TOP dollar. All Exceptionally hard to beat. (by any rival trainers) Where-as tonight in race 2 ,(with these Trainers are absent) , that gives all the maiden trotters tonight in that race 2 a way way better chance of winning for their owners and Trainers. So It's a Good thing really for everyone, to split them in this way. It's a little closer with the pacers , but you would mostly find the 'Faster' placed maiden Pacers are in Friday in races 2 and 12 racing for twice as much money that they would get tonight.

Seems Brodie is an Influencer Ranga. ππ . NZ Brodie came up with this > I am a podcast host and producer. I have a passion for telling stories, and engaging and collaborating with brands and businesses throughout the country. Brodie is based in Auckland and is busy producing and hosting podcasts

Top Shelf stuff . you well and truly On the Money π°. Olivia waltzes away with Benson Dude for an easy Win and it says $22.00 win here on Sportsbet. Well done Mr Galah ππ»

As Brodie often says Carter is the Best Junior driver. So he will go Very very close to winning on his 2 drives today. Some BIG news for you . I know you guys Love Slot races so much . Buying a slot and attracting the best around , QUEENSLAND are ramping it up mate. We're running the World Drivers Championship in 4 months time , and it's a Slot race for drivers. what a ripper !! across 20 races (2 nights at Albion) a Driver will race in your slot and you earn great prize-money and $250,000 up for grabs. The SLOTS sold like Hot-cakes for $20,000 each and these lucky persons will have the BEST ON THE PLANET driving for them for 2 nights !! Absolutely Spectacular !! Double D Dexter already swooped on by the races sponsor Ladbrokes too, (who didn't have to buy a slot. Maybe the NZ Drivers championship , and Junior driver Championship like today should be slot races too ? for 10 applicants. Can race for BIGGER money then . AND you'd get some great horses for them to drive then ? instead of battlers at a meeting all you guys hate anyway like today where no-one is watching. (probably just you and me Mr Galah across 2 countries) ππ€£

Maybe COASTAL BABE will start in the Summit Bloodstock slot ? She was Super impressive in the Victoria OAks heat and Final past 2 weeks. Chase A Dream winning the flying stakes last Friday is sure to be favourite though. Is he in a sponsor ENTAIN slot ? Who's In so far.? just trying to match the Slot with horse. 1/ ?? 2/ We Walk By Faith 3/ ?? 4/ Cold Chisel 5/ Bay of Biscay (Emma Stewart horse) slot holder Diane is old Australian lady who won Interdominion with the old NZ horse 'I Cast No Shadow' recently at Grimson's. 6/ Dreams Are Free (3rd Oamaru last week) 7/ Coastal Babe maybe? 8/ ?? 9/ Little Spike for Arna? 10/ Chase A Dream ??

Yes the race ( Victoria Derby) has been ruined by the re-scheduling of the Addington 3 yearold Flying stakes to October the past 3 years. (was March previously) so no Kiwi's will turn up anymore π₯². (like the Derby winners around 10 years like Lazarus, Our Maxim , Ohoka Punter) The Flying Stakes Won brilliantly by 'Chase The Dream' the other night . and in great style by his stable-mates 'Don't Stop Dreaming' and 'Akuta' the other 2 October runnings of that race. They would ALL of probably won the Victoria Derby if races didn't co-incide. π So with No more kiwi trained horses turning up , the result is the EMMA Stewart Barn having a picnic now past 2 years in the Victoria Derby. and for many years to come probably. yeah , you're right they become a bit of a 'procession ' accordingly. Funny BOAY story: the old bloke that owned the 2nd placed horse last night 'Some American' was attempted to be interviewed for National TV . He also has a share in the Derby winner named 'Best Deal' . so he actually has the quinella in the race and is standing there (not even dressed nicely) folded arms , looking grumpy as a junkyard dog and mumbling to the interviewer "I wanted the 2nd horse to win , I bred that one myself" with a stern face . He's just run the Quinella as owner in the Derby and is not even happy the old fart. The Interviewer was a bit shell-shocked , but tried his best. just no pleasing some people lol π
