  1. Yea i got half of my return back. But i guess i was one of the confused punters,as before the last race i checked what they had backed and all i saw initially was that big bet of almost 600k on Orchestral, and then just before they jumped i saw that they did that top 4 and top 6 bet. After the race i checked again and that big bet wasn't there...unless i wasn't looking hard enough. Anyway i can't complain at getting half of my return back and feeling like a big time punter for a day.
  2. Ok thanks for that Chief, fair enough.
  3. So its bad enough that Tony is given the 'dont come monday' but he doesn't get too call ALL of the races on his last day?. And what's more he doesn't call the last of the day. Unless for some reason that was Tony's decision, that just seems wrong in my opinion.
  4. Yip Alvin(Bluey's Chance) is definitely well travelled but he is very much well looked after. He actually had to be rushed back to Canterbury after her ran 3rd in the Greymouth Cup a few hours after that as he got a bad case of Colic,so it was very much touch and go. He got thru it and he ran so well today for Kenny and team, and by all reports that was probably his last run. Also a great result for Kenny with his game mare Lady T running 3rd in the Thorndon...huge day.
  5. Some nice thoughts there Walt. Not going on Friday due to work and then child commitments after work, but will head out on Sunday....just hope the forecasted rain for Sunday doesn't happen.
  6. I read that in the gallop he did break a hopple, but that wasn't the reason for him to break. Also read that Ben Hope said that they will get there vet to look at him too see what's going on with him.
  7. Was certainly strange seeing them race down the back straight, then catching a glimpse of the 'hill' when it used to be grass but now it's just dirt.,and even a fence going all the way down to where the Kenny Browne brush used to be. Sad that history has gone for good, but i guess for some history doesn't matter?. Anyway was good to see the track back in action.
  8. Bloody stunning view is that.
  9. Am intrigued to see how well the track goes, hopefully it can live up to all the hype. A question tho,how come they can't have jump races on it?. Does the StrathAyr not cope well with jumping?.
  10. Love it when the Nelson circuit rolls around, but moreso when it moves to my neck of the woods in Blenheim. Hope it's a great next 2 weekends for both clubs.

So your enthusiasm for the game wasn't what she wanted? geez hard luck mate..some people just can't be pleased.
  12. Yip pretty shit call by those that think they know what the are on about. And still a shame that the gallops here in Blenheim got canned as well. I mean ,yes it was a Kevin Myers benefit but trainers did come for the 2 days, but hey the know it all's seem to know what they were doing, right??.
  13. Yip he drove well. Tho would be hard pressed to head off Carter and Sarah.

12-18 month disqualification? seriously, seems very light. The guy has priors why not make it life?. I'm sure no one would be moaning if that was the case.

I see he hasn't been training for a while, and they are now all trained by his boy. Has his past well publicised indiscretions caught up with him?.
  16. Yea Reon did call the race.
  17. I'll also be heading to Cup Day/Week this year. Was last there around 10 years ago, when i was lucky enough to have a horse racing on the day,so spent most of my time on course in the Owners Bowl, which was a great location.Am hoping too have a horse running on either Cup Day or Show Day,but will be all over the tickets when available in a few weeks. So yea i guess any suggestions on where to hang out for the day would be good.Oh and i'm not keen on getting schmoozy with the young one's who are there just to get pissed.
  18. Also a shame that those big beautiful fences only get used at this time of year, insane.
  19. Still can't believe that the 2nd day is on the AW and that the GN Hurdles has now been moved to the last day. Geez i didn't see anything wrong with it being on the 2nd day, where it's been for years..seems crazy to me,but what do i know?.
  20. Can't really blame him. Looks like he can foot it with them, and im sure he'll get some nice light rides over the carnival. Hope it goes well for him.
  21. It looks like James Stormont has re located to the mainland to be Fred Fletcher's stabledriver?. Only saying that as im pretty sure his only trial drives lately that i've come across has been for Fred, and the same goes for his race drives over the last few weeks. Never thought he'd leave the North and if that's infact the case, then i hope it goes well for him.
  22. Yip pretty sure there aren't any gallopers trained here now,tho Donna Green did have 1 at the races a couple of years ago?? but nothing since. My gallopers that i have shares in are all trained up North, and the pacers are in Canterbury. Yea still a shame that the harness track doesn't get used here anymore, but the grass meeting that's here in January does get a massive crowd.
  23. Much like everyone else,i remember hearing dad listen to the races on the radio when i was just a kid,and of course going to the races with dad when we lived in Christchurch,i never ever got sick of listening to them.Think my first memory is hearing the battles between Starship and Tuapeka Knight, which TK normally won those battles. The first horse i fell inlove with was the great Blossom Lady,i was around 16 when she won the Cup,and i'd slowly start punting by then, thanks to dad putting on my bets for me with my pocket money. And as i've got older my love for the game has continued.Currently own a couple of pacers and also a few gallopers as well, but harness racing is where my heart is,i even spent around 12 months as a stablehand here in Blenheim when i was around 18years old.At times i think i'm the best punter in the world and other times think i'm the worst. But i'll always be involved in the game, well until i lose my mind and i forget what a horse is or how to punt.

    Waikato Track.

I may be a bit behind on this topic, but was just wondering what's going on with their track,as i see all of their meetings lately have been run at Auckland. Is the track undergoing remedial work?.
  25. So i'm guessing if they have GN Hurdles, that will be on GN Steeples day?.
