Was wondering what happens to Forburys days when their days are over,Tuepeka race there, someone must be in the know by now, incidentally if Blenhiem got the winter days back Nelson probably would as well or will a never ending sundays of Addington now be the norm
-
The aussie in Southland probably struggles when it gets cold too aye😂
-
If the trainer says he will have few if any runners where will he be racing them?
-
You may say that but so many of the young announcers try to be comedians, hopefully most of the radio sport lot stay on the sideline. Radio sport I reckon went downhill when Telfer got the heavo for Devlin who right now on zb is talking the biggest load of shit you are ever likely to hear. Despite the fact that technology is good, for some strange reason when I want to watch or listen to a race through the TAB website it always cuts out usually half way through the race,it's just not reliable and the internet is generally good where I am,that's what pisses me off, radio is generally always reliable.

I read where this new setup that's bought the trackside channels has the rights to broadcast racing from nz,it will be interesting to see what if any is broadcast,New Zealand is a fairly small market, that's probably why radio sport didn't pay and trackside would still have cost a lot to run as well,I guess it's easy to say it's not so important that it don't make a profit, but the present lot running the TAB had to make some changes, moving forward it seems one setup running everything under one umbrella might survive,it will be interesting, simply over the years race commentaries on radio has always been like a revolving door,I think the zb stations years ago broadcast them for nought, I think in those days racing had a much stronger public interest than it has today so it probably helped the ratings, then Radio Pacific starting doing them, the zb network stopped doing it,trackside has come and gone, lots of things have all moved on to a online setup, and that's fine to a degree, radio still plays a big part in our life, this new setup maybe a sports, racing station but as the news talk channel has the rugby and magic has the cricket there must be space within this new setup that will be able to have some good racing coverage, days like to day,Saturday it is a bit odd in today's world that we don't have radio of some sort. I see Ian Smith has signed on,Jason Pine is also signed up,so things are moving forward it seems, sports talkback is actually very popular,so no real reason why a Des Coppins type talkback can't be fitted in somewhere,it will be interesting I guess,

-
What role does he have at the ODT,news or racing?
-
Second from the right, maybe the guy who was the writer, a guy Cannon perhaps.
-
Rob Fielder on the left perhaps, wonder if Rob Muldoons there, maybe standing behind the others😄
-
Anyone know the others,is this a celebrity race?Is the guy next to Murtha Rodney Bryant
-
Sorry about the stut stut stutter lol.
-
Did the Royal wedding too i think, in fact he did a fair bit of commentating when one thinks of it, Stanley Rio winning the the interdoms too.
-
i think Reon Murtha did a bit of rugby calling too.3ZB did a lot of local rugby those days, same as the days when Ian Galloway, excuse the spelling if incorrect, he always did the main match on club day from Carisbrook.
-
Eric Percy called international rugby matches, im picking touring matches played in Nelson and Marlborough?
-
Am I correct that even though the cricketers have been vaccinated, they still have to do quarantine when they come back home.

What a race the 2021 Queen Elizabeth is shaping up to be!
mikeynz replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
Just to add, watching video , as in races on ya smartphone burns up your data and your battery, to say you can watch and listen free is a load of crap, buying data all the time adds up too,the simulcast the tab have on the rova app is better than nothing but not much. You have ya internet at home then ya cost for pay tv and your phone charges, it all adds up. -

These are the days, Saturdays that no radio is a pain,i will be out later so will miss some of the main races, technology is brilliant but not the be all and end all and not always a option, we dont always have time to ef around with smartphones. -
Robertson is a Fox in a Sheep Skin: Will Harness be next?

Personally i think there was an irony that Jacinda Adern was put in charge of the labour party , august the first which strangely is the same day horses have their birthday.😃 As for the greyhounds i dont give a shit about them, but and its a big but if others like greyhounds then good for them, its a free country, not sure though for how much longer. -
It's not just racing that's losing its relevance, like it ir not rugby is now less relevant, apart from the ABS most be people dont give a shit, its just our changing society, super rugby is just to make money to pay players, below that it too has issues too,no one watching at the ground,NPC, club rugby is almost being killed off, possibly not in the rural towns as such, our society is changing, despite all our so called knowledge society as a whole seems to be taking a 2 steps forward,3 back,we arnt really a smarter society in reality.

well this is where it gets interesting, who do you think is the administrator? Maybe he has called the police lol.

I don't think there is anything wrong with posting comments, I just don't like getting into slagging anybody personally,we must remember this is still a public forum, I wouldn't like to read someone calling me a cheat or whatever, not that I am but constructive comment is not destructive.

7 races and about 65 horses give or take a few at Ruakaka yesty,is this really viable, how many horses are trained there, with Counties Sunday and Matamata Friday, Te Rapa Saturday, ain't there enough meetings up north. Otaki today have 7 races today,Hastings only 8 Saturday,it seems a long time since the spike in numbers after the lockdown.

Another good article on Alexy in the ODT today, seems hes going to outlive a racecourse that's over a hundred years old, some achievement,I suspect that some of the journos must read these comments or threads on this site, the ODT ran a story on the spitfire after he won too, probably had the spitfire not been so popular on here ,wouldn't have caught anyone's attention.

I had a look at the fields for Southland, below average really, one thing that come to mind though was why run 2 open handicap races,1600 and 1200 for 15000 each, there are 5 in one and 6 in the other, why not run one for 30000,it would probably get more entries for a start and probably would bump up the numbers for the supporting races,Riverton did well a fortnight ago, seems a bit odd a lot are absent for this meeting, just a thought anyway.
