The truth of the matter is that the current rule in regards to interference is just BS! Glassy Webb shouldve been disqualified, end of storey! Zircon Lass was checked out of the race and it was sheer bolting and probably wouldve won if it had not been side swiped. Harness racing has got it so wrong and it is just sheer BS laziness that they do not go back to what the old rule was! Racing integrity what a load of crock HRNZ!!!

Do not like the rules already! To be fair, I do not always follow rules, and do not have to! Got no idea what these rules are going to be, but as we all know there are always consequences from all new rules! I do not like to be controlled as you are well aware!
-
Ranga will not be missing in action at all! He is probably just catching up on some sleep after the excitement of Jewels Day! He will be back, he is a fan of “The Brodster”.
-
What are the main points of this BS they are going to be writing in English? Glad it will be English, as totally over this Maori crap we are being subjected to daily!!!
-
SJones, not sure what went on at Cambridge with this bum pinching? However, with the PC bullshit and other things nowadays, it would be one helluva risk pinching a ladies butt without her consent! You wouldve got away with it in Ranga’s day, but nowadays you could well go for a skate without the consent of the pinched one! Some of the less than hot ones may enjoy it, but most wouldnt! If someone pinched my wifes butt, they would wear one!!!

Yes we do need to support the North Island harness, as it is on life support. The question needs to be asked is why Auckland is allowed to run races for at least 12k and have small fields and Canterbury is running races for as little as $7k and has larger fields? Yes I know it is all about distribution to the clubs, but it seriously has its problems!
-
Chief, doesnt mean that the North horses are anywhere near as good as the South horses does it? RocknRoll Mama, an amateur raced horse was placed so what it shows is that mile racing at Cambridge is very interesting! The reason there were many North Island horses involved isbecause the Auckland stake money generally is much higher and smaller fields, so far easier to qualify! Cup Day probably does ok as the Club makes huge money on the hospitality revenue. Also, it does bring a great crowd oncourse and probably not get a lot of returnees to the races during the year, but is decent promo!
-
Interesting Jones. Definitely silly decision to continue in June as too wet and cold. As for why they may not run again is because it is a huge loss venture for harness racing with the stakes and travel costs! Does anyone know what HRNZ pays out in travel costs to participants???? Seem the best horses are generally in Canterbury, run something at Addington over 1980 metres.
-
To be fair though, there were many horses that clearly qualified only because others did not go because of where the Jewels were run this year, at Cambridge! Look most people have an opinion on the Jewels Day, and if it gets you excited and keeps horses racing then it is a good idea to hold them even though it is not a profit making thing for the industry. Hopefully Addington holds it next time over 1980metres but they need to change the time of the year they run it surely?
-
Of course they wouldnt, as it would be held at Addington over 1980metres. Labour government are really great planners arent they? Every single thing they have tried has either not got off the ground or effed up!!! To be fair they have been very successful in having 5 times more people waiting on a State house since they arrived!!

Go to facebook. Type in Harness Racing Unhinged.
-
Jones, was the crowd all in the bars? The crowd didnt look that big on the ground or grandstand shen the races were on? It seems to be more about selling hospitality packages for big money nowadays! If they can get away with it and it helps the clubs then it is positive, however those that go oncourse need to be punting and repeat punters I would hope.
-
Thought it was about time someone made mention of Harness Racing Unhinged efforts! I am sure most of you have watched the videos of Harness Racing Unhinged being done by Nigel Armstrong and his camera lady. Yesterdays interviews were all very good a d well worth watching. Often he interviews harness participants who you would not even know, and the backgrounds are often very interesting and funny. We need to acknowledge Nigel’s efforts as I believe he receives no remuneration for his efforts, and just does it for the benefit of the harness industry and is sacrificing his time, when he could be punting! The interviewing of these people is far more enjoyable than most of the same old ones that Trackside interview, the blah blahs!
-
The thing is though Davis, is that yes they go fast, but geez the racing is just so boring. Single file handlebars down but absolutely nothing exciting about it! If people get a kick out of watching that, then good on them! Just not for Brodie, speed is not what it is about when it comes to racing in my mind! Why hasnt Addington programmed those 1300metre races that Rangiora had???
-
Watched the races replayed. Sorry to hear that you didnt enjoy the day. Weather was not that flash and hard to understand why on earth they run at this time of year, when it is most often shitty westher at Queens Birthday?? The old puke material happened again as it always does with the same old same old tonguing and cuddly of everyone, even though they Have done it just so many times!!!! What on earth is that all about FFS? If they want to do it, then go for it but does the bloody cameraman beed to show the shit?????? Plunder the stake money and then gloat about it in front of all,and sundry, GET A LIFE!
-
Ok thanks for that! I enquired re the Top 4 thru the TAB a couple of weeks ago and the customer info bloke told me that it was only available “on account” only! So his info may well be wrong, so will be looking into this. You would think they would have the foresight to give everything an option no. Wouldnt you? thanks
-
Interesting? There are no option no.s so how can you bet on fixed? The top 2 and Top 4 is not available at agencies and is account only and they have no option no.s shown! So not sure how it is possible as you need an option no. To bet Fixed at agencies!
-
Drizzabone here. Not watching uNtil end of the day! I see that the hot favourite missed and an amateur raced horse ran 3rd! Love the mile racing, easy to follow form over the distance! Good punting to everyone. I note the TAB have got head to heads up, but doesnt look like you can take them at agencies, account only and heavy restrictions for some. You would think they could grow some, on a Premier meeting like this and allow punters to get on??!!!
-
No sarcasm intended Chief. Not watching live, but will record and watch later. Harness showcase today, nothing better, very exciting!
-
At last Jewels Day at Cambridge is here! One mile racing on a 1000metre track, what a spectacle it will be. Horse that has won 20 races against a 2 win horse, racing at its best! Draw the outside of second row and having to come around and beat fast horses drawn the front row, what could be better over a mile! Wish everyone who is prepared to have a go, all the best as per normal you will be getting small divs. Enjoy the day, where on earth has Queens Birthday Ashburton Monday racing gone??
-
Chief, I hate Mushrooms, disgusting tasting fungus, why would you? Where did I ever say that what they did or used was illegal? What I do know is that they clearly do things that all other trainers do not do!!!!! I reiterate, has no affect on my dealings whatsoever, however I totally have sincere concerns for the industry if the dominance of the group races continues! However, I do not believe that they will be training in partnership in 2 or 3 years in NZ! Maybe I wont be on the money, but I would take evens on it!
-
Despite a few blimps on the radar, I would consider Blair Orange to probably be pretty intelligent, going by his harness horse driving! Blair Orange spent many years working at the AllStars Stables as far as I am aware! The question needs to be asked then, If it was all because of these best training techniques, best eye, best vets etc. you would think then that when Blair went to Ken Baron’s, he would take all these BEST things to him? For all these BEST things, it did not work at Baron’s which ks surprising! Maybe there just is some other type of BEST that AllStars use, Just Asking?
-
Na! Cullen is not pulling the strings Chief, most can see this! No they have not taken a break at all, if they had, Tim would still be there! Anyway, no point debating it, they never stepped aside at all!
-
Gamma, which part of it is not the Cullens stable do you not understand? It was blatant BS that they took a break from training. Yes hopefully they will go to Brisbane for an extended stay!
-
Actually Chief I do not see any link to Socialism whatsoever? Not bringing AllStars down, just stating that Purdon was always making the decisions. Are you saying that they did take a break from the stable? I say it didnt happen unless you think a few days is a break?
