Watched race 4 tonight at Addington, the 2 year old non winners race. What a great and surprising result that the first five home were from the Mark Purdon and Natalie Rasmussen stable! This is a great result for this stable, and maybe this will continue in the future?? The other horses not from this stable finished a long way back from the placegetters, which could be a wee bit ominous, do you think?

To be fair he does train a lot of less than average horses! Averos Spitfire could be heading that way if Blair can not work the oracle this Sunday!
-
Only to empty out 46 losing tickets, NOT!
-
I roll out of bed when I want nowadays! All”The Brodster” wants is to be treated fairly and not being able to get $100 on is hardly encouraging new punters?

When is a standing start - Not a standing start???
Brodie replied to Brodie's topic in Trotting Chat
The Stipes and employees are not being held accountable for their actions. There are many examples where extremely poor decisions and actions have been made by the Stipes and RIU, and yet as far as I am aware, none of them have been questioned!! The starter should be held to account for substandard starts -

Ranga, nothing to do with timing! All we want is consistency with the standing starts!! Why should some horses have to stand and others are allowed to be moving! It is not a fair system and we require a starter that is respected by the drivers and know how they work! When you are calculating that a horse will probably be slow away, and then the starter allows the horse to be in a jog, it is not good enough! -
Longowner they can not give A written report. There is nothing to report, As Happy says, it is blah blah blah, and no detail at all on anything. Next week all is revealed apparently! Can hardly wait.
-
Just watched it Happy! Just absolutely nothing from the CEO of Harness NZ!!!!!! FFS, Phil Holden will be on BIG MONEY and yet he has done absolutely nothing or said a single thing that can give anyone Any confidence, that he is the right person for the job!!! How many hours has he put in for his salary and seriously, apart from being a good mate of Ken Spicer, he has got nothing!! He is a few months into the job and all he can do is APOLOGISE for not having any details??????? What is HRNZ actually paying him for, and if he was only an interim CEO, why on earth has no effort gone into finding a fulltime CEO, that has got the best interests of harness at heart? This fellah has shown that he hasnt got the goods and he is intent on keeping the chair warm for as long as he can by doing a few hours per week! Very Very dissapointing effort from HRNZ who clearly have lost the plot and are continuing to let the industry decline! RIP harness racing!

Would be a bit of an unfair contest, Hunter! Must watch Phil Holden’s latest speech! Need some comic relief

5 x $100 is not worth my while Greg, and shouldnt be what any punter should have to do!! Why can a punter not get on for a reasonable amount Greg, as I dont believe a$100 or less is a reasonable amount, and then not able to get back on? The new betting platform has made it even worse which is saying something!! If the NZ TAB wants punters gone, they are going about it the right way! You wouldve thought that after the Government bailed them out, they would be looking at getting the punters back on board, but clearly they dont want them! Are the stakes going to hold up for harness next season? Can not see it as the punters vote with there feet!
-
Greg, harness turnover will be declining as the NZ TAB wont take wagering on it! When the TAB only allows you to place bets of under $100 when you want a lot more on, harness turnover certainly is not being driven, as Peter Holden stated in his speech!!! If the NZ TAB is going to not accept bets from punters then the bookies might as well close their bags and go back to tote only! The amounts that I can get on now is just worth the time it involves. The harness racing industry is in turmoil at the moment and if the TAB is not prepared to take bets then it is history!!

He is back Sunday!! Race 3 at Addington for start no. 47 over 2600, Blair Orange has picked up the plumb drive and has drawn 1 on the second line! Can the golden hands of Blair help and enable Averos Spitfire to run his first dividend bearing placing in 47 starts?? Yeah/Nah!!
-
Greg, think it is going to take more than the draws in a 6 horse field to make a difference. We are lucky that we have the Dunns entering horses all year around to keep these races from not happening. Dunns support all meetings whatever the stake money is!
-
Happy, you beat me to it lol. Yeah definitely not a healthy sign, although several of us already know what is happening! 2 year old racing used to be interesting, but unfortunately no longer. The AllStars will dominate the major races once again this year as they plunder the stakes. I know, some will say for everyone to up their game, but we all know there is far more than that to it. What I do know is that it is going to be one helluva hard ride back to where harness once was! Will there be enough owners prepared to stay on for the ride?

When is a standing start - Not a standing start???

Maybe they should change the name to non mobile start? Maybe, mystery start, or take your pick start? Lotto start? Make your luck start? Anything goes start? Typical crap start? Unfair start? Definitely not a standing start? Allsorts start? Peter Lamb start? Anything but a fair start? -

Yeas they still do have plenty Of workouts and able to get the education, however trials no.s are always small. It is the inconsistency that is blatantly wrong with our standing starts! When you do your homework for what you want to offload on, you know what horses may well gallop away from the standing start! Yesterday the favourite was not standing anywhere near still, it was fully charging the tape, and got a major advantage over the horses that were standing! Make up their mind, they all stand or they all are moving, otherwise have the starter operating the mobile only, if he thinks a stand can be anything!!!!!! -

Honest John, most horses will begin at home lr the trainers wouldnt be lining them up in stands, you would think! However, on raceday with excitement around and other horses playing up a bkt, puts some horses off. Sometimes the quickest standing start horses miss away! The problem with our starts from the stand is that it ks just a mystery envelope as to what the starter does in regards to when he lets them Go! To the current starter, anything goes, sometimes standing, sometimes run Ups and often a combination of both!! The starter may well think that what he is doing is OK, but as a punter I am now going to boycott the 2000metre stands, as they are just so pathetically inconsistent!! If this is the best the starter can do, give the job to someone who can perform, or ditch the stands! Has the starter been questioned about the starts? No because they are scared to question his performance for some stupid reason -

Italian was also on the move up, nowhere near a standing start. If the starter is allowed to do whatever he likes, then ditch all of the stands and have mobiles. It is just blatantly stupid that anything goes as far as a stand goes! Anyone could be better than what we currently have!!!! -

The starter is also a Stipe and therefore is never ever scrutinised by the other stipes. He can do no wrong, and yet he continues to muck up. Nothing personal against the starter whatsoever, but if harness racing expects punters to help them out with wagering, they should be able to expect far better starts. I am a firm believer in if someone is not up to the job, then they should always be replaced by someone far more capable! The standing starts at the 2000metre mark always appear worse than the 2600m because you see them sideon!! Most of the time They are not great, and often they are just terrible! I dont know what this new protocol is? They are all different, and it just seems that anything will do just to get the race underway! If this is going to continue, then get rid of them and make every race a mobile!!!! -
The Racing Integrity Unit, is no such thing! They have become totally the opposite and have no integrity whatsoever! They have a warped sense of what integrity is! Matt has been disqualified for 6 months and these men of integrity want to nail him again for wanting to win a race? Go figure?
-
He is the king of Woodend, Mikie
-
You what? What a pointless comment!!
-
Whether it was related or not, Matt Anderson as far as I am aware, is not a cheat, unless someone can prove me otherwise. He is a driver like Blair Orange and John Dunn that normally always tries to put their horse in a winning position. The Nelson race with Johnny White, is the race that keeps getting thought about when Matt went back after the start first day and forward the second day. First day the horse went average at best and would not have beaten the Court horse irrespective of how it was driven! Lets get the Courts to prove that there was race fixing ASAP or drop the charges as the Barristers are getting Fatter by the day, and the charged are bleeding big time!!!

I take a break from time to time Galah! When someone pisses me off lol. Yes you can spend time on here, but your wife might get sick and tired of annoying ner and want you back on the Premier Harness Site!
-
Galah, why would you want to stop commenting? We dont have to agree with everything anyone says! You dont agree with everything I say, just like I dont always agree with your point of view! Personally think you are on the money on most things! Wouldnt matter who the driver was on jimmy Canon today, I think it was a very good drive and gave the horse every chance possible. He had the chance to run Brantley down but wasnt quite good enough! Dont take your bat and ball away, you are good value Galah!
