  1. Went to the Meadowlands one time I was in New York. Havent bothered to go back there. Hassle getting there from Manhattan couple,of trains etc. Didnt have Fixed Odds either and didn’t know the horses, so a gamble which I don’t like to do!!! Did get a collect and thought it paid well, but the divs are for $2 units so effectively halve your div. Coming back to NZ late Wednesday for a holiday, as these holidays involve a lot of work. Been great though and very good company. Need to get back into the serious stuff!!!!!
  2. Basil, haven’t watched it and in no hurry to watch it! Currently in New York and racing here doesn’t interest me in the least. Boring Boring Boring, Mile after flippen Mile. I am sure today’s Timaru Racing would’ve been far better for punting and entertainment!
  3. To be fair Paul Wallace is one of the best amateurs and Romanite likes grass and the others were not much.
  4. Hareeood, Ivwoukdve tipped out Romanite just for you. Likes the Mot grass as bolted in there before and I backed it last time there when it ran 3rd Drop back in grade too but bugger too late now. Did u get on?
  5. Brodie is away for another 10 days or so which is the TABs gain In The Rockies at the moment and one night in a hotel that doesn’t even have a tv in the room has running water tho
  6. Why on earth would you think Brodie is an enigma? Down to earth, tells it the way it is, never lies, all round great guy! How is that being an enigma???
  7. Don’t bother with investing at the Casino’s as there is only one winner there and it isn’t the gambler. Never saw too many punters winning. Vegas is a great place for a week or so and then you get over it! Too many overweight loud drunk Americans. Half naked girls trying to get photos with men! Nothing wrong with that but hamstrung when you are with your wife!!! Shows are always great, saw current stars! Donny and Marie Osmond, Adam Lambert and Queen and Finally Michael Jackson show! All were excellent.
  8. Globe, if I have been losing, then why haven’t I had $5????????
  9. Flagship, in Canada at the moment, too cold to be swimming here. Vegas was bloody hot though but too busy enjoying!!
  10. Brodie is overseas at the moment. Been to Vegas, now in The Rockies (Canada) then to New York for a week. Too hard to find a NZ Tab over here or a NZ self service machine. “The Brodster” will be back though. Tuesday is going to be Very interesting I would say! Wouldve backed Bourbon and Coke in the first at Addington, not a bad trotter up against mostly maidens, was overs at $5 for a place Fixed!!! bugger!! !!
  11. Young Brodie and certainly never lonely, Rangatira, Quite the opposite!
  12. What do you mean fixed yield Happy? You are better off with a lower yield than a higher one most often if your turnover is better. Turn the punter off and a high yield of buggerall turnover will see the industry continue to go backwards.
  13. Yes the TAB has made it far more difficult with their methods of reducing dividends and Fixed Odds on offer as well as restrictions, I appreciate that. As Happy states though, you keep pressing on, and at the end of the day, the TAB are actually costing the industry by their methods! Will be interesting to see what this coming years financial returns to racing are!
  14. Globe, I don’t bother watching Mile Racing or investing on it. Why are the Yanks so preoccupied with Mile Racing? Geez, if that is all we had here, there would be bugger all interest in the sport. Mile, after mile after Mile! Leave most intelligent punters out of it!!!!!
  15. Let’s face it though that anything can run time over there on those tracks. Our maidens would go 1.54 no problems.
  16. Good on Lazarus winning again, owners deserve a return on their money! Lucky it wasn’t another 50metres or he was beaten. Very boring race once again though!
  17. I will second that! Not the RIU fault re the blatantly stupid whip rule in harness! It is the clown at HRNZ that brought it in, without support just because he was able to!
  18. I note Te Kawau ran 3rd in the race, Think originally trained by Stephen Doody. He was not a bad horse here but he must be very old now, so obviously Lazarus isn’t going as well as he should be. The Thing is though as I have said many times, any horse can run a mile and because of the short distance it doesn’t sort the men out from the boys, as they say. If they ran over longer distances in the USA then he would be winning. Bit of A Legend has been a legend over in the U.S.A. and he was last his used by date when he left NZ, so it just show you how Mile Racing can make good horses into great horses and vice versa.
  19. It may just be a bit of a hiccup though. The Thing is that he is a stallion and he may well have other things on his mind! The biggest problem is that if they continue to race him and he doesn’t win, all it is doing is making him not as commercial as if he was winning. If he was able to win many races over there over the pathetic mile distance then he would attract heaps of speed mares in U.S.A. If he doesn’t then I would say they would possibly send him back to NZ to be at stud where his value is huge for our breeders. Personally couldn’t understand why they sold him as I believe his value at stud in NZ was more than what they got for him. The owners choice obviously, but if I owned him I would’ve enjoyed having him in NZ and breeding and leaving winning horses here!
  20. Robert Dunn has nothing to be guilty about! He is always very forthcoming with his ideas and views just like his sons! This family is down to earth harness enthusiasts who have done plenty to keep the industry going in Nz If it wasn’t for them there are many meetings that would’ve struggled to hold many races!
  21. Happy, Brodue is quiet! Wont be having a go at Methven, as it is going to be pretty hard going with it being the first grass track meeting, so you just won’t know how fit the horses are! Good luck to everyone who is going to have a go tomorrow!
  22. You are very easily pleased then!!!!
  23. Not that soft, wife never complained anyway! Poisoned, it sure beats watching midgets riding horses on bog tracks though doesn’t it!
  24. Geez I haven’t mentioned that for a day or so!
  25. Indeed we need to keep knowledgeable harness media people rather than people who haven’t got the knowledge Maybe I am getting soft as the days tick by, but why is it that people just want to assume that everyone in harness is damn well guilty
