Once again, Brodie NOT on the money! Horses cleared to race, as most sane people thought, just the crazy types that thought it was some sort of cover up?? Go the purdon team, jewels day would be ordinary without the glamour stable.

It’s not thou, How many times do we see positives after race swabbing, then trainers dream up all sorts of excuses after the shit hits the fan. When have we had a trainer say BEFORE a big race- I think we should contact authorities as I’m not sure if that food is contaminated ? Never, would rather see if it wins,collect off tote, worth trying to get away with it. Sorry, but when big money is up, all 3 codes out to win, some at all cost. History around the world confirms this

Bit different Happy, Purdons have stated could be an issue several days out, which could be a food issue. Dunns & Dalgety, only comes up after tests come back positive. So hardly same. Purdons got a lot to lose here, could be several scratchings for big day, good on them for bringing it to hrnz, BEFORE RACING!! Certainly makes a change

Lisa Cropp, very sad how her riding career ended. Even more sad, Leeane Isherwood ? Thought she was the hottest jockey ever when she started riding, but the pictures of her a year or so after, just showed what that drug is capable of doing. 2 great jockeys, yet drugs beat them both. Very sad. Didnt they both make a comeback at some stage? Not sure.

Thought first race interesting. Fav here could easily get rolled, especially with Aussie drawn 1. Best lay of day for me. Could see seaswift joy leading all way in r4, and habiti Inta a big chance to beat enghien r5.

Sad to see Jack leave us, he was a real gentleman. Many top drivers never win a nz cup, but he did with globe bay many years ago. Glen Moiria was a good mare also in the 80s.

Riccarton a bit the same. Still a bog at times, but many a horse still win on the inside. I remember a few years back, everyone headed for select strip out wide, not so much now.

Thought maybe habibti inti could knock off einheign. Most races favs look home, but I bet we have a few big div placing. Good luck Globe, and all other connections with horses racing on Sat, it’s a big effort to even get a horse to start on the day.

If you look at many studies on humans on various sports, seems a performance increase of between 3% & 17% with caffeine in certain doses. So a battling horse maybe not worth the coffee, but the best chance in a race surely worth a latte, just to make sure of the result. If those tested never won that day, it probably wouldn’t be such a huge deal. But the more you look at it, the more it worries.

So a trainer goes to a low key meeting with a few good chances, nothing like a boost before you offload on the hot favs on the tote.
