Well, clearly Amazing Dream is the one to beat, but I wonder?
Drawn wide, new trainer, will rival drivers attack a little more? I certainly would not punt on it on those odds. Could be a blowout? What do you think,

She's the best mare in the country so should win. But she has drawn wide with a few consistent ones inside her, Enchantee, Need you Now, Watch Me Now so it won't be easy. If she gets to the front easily she'll bolt in.

Hayden must be feeling the heat, he will want this nag to win, and win well.
If it gets beat, wont be a good start.

Hayden Cullen may have the horses under his name, but he has as much say as he did previously!
What is Purdon still doing driving the horses etc?

It is a load of BS, this new arrangement!

More to it than meets the eye, if they wanted a break they wouldve walked away!

Hmmmmm!

Have you been.in hibernation. MP said from the start he will.still advise and drive for Hayden and the owners for the next 18 months or so  if they want him too.Hayden would be mad not to use Mark's knowledge and skills. Also the owners would be nuts not to use his penchant for picking out horses at the sales.

I'm predicting that this will be the last season of team driving race fixing stable.owners will start to leave in numbers.there are many many great NZ trainers and Hayden Cullen does not even rate a mention among them.you got a future champ Trotter who you going to send it to.dickie Williamson or Cullen lol.same story with the Pacers much bettor trainers than cullen.its a sinking ship going down fast.such great news for NZ trots.bring on proper racing and no more of this team driving which resulted in amazing dream beaten when that wasn't possible but for the team driving race fixing

So Mark still there, driving, assisting, picking horses to buy, same colours!

What has changed?

Nothing!

Hmmmm

Doesn't have to get up so early in the morning.  Chooses what he drives when he wants and someone just hands him the reigns.  Can have a beer during the week and not worry about being over the limit as a trainer.  Doesn't have the RIU hiding in the bushes watching and tracking his every move looking for things that don't exist.  Still making a very good living by doing less and someone is paying to use his assets.

Hell sounds a damn sight better than before.  Got all the best bits without any of the shit stuff!

Oh and probably the most important thing doesn't have the burden of obligation and commitment on his shoulders.

I read a nice article about Cullen how it was a relieve for him to get his 1st win.

I see the 2 Sweet Lou's, Darling Me & Aladdin look like they are enjoying change of scene up North, by weekend workouts.

I'm looking forward to see how Darling Me goes for new stable, hopefully new stable won't just had up lead to favoured stablemate. Be interesting to see how they rate her against Enjoy Me - on a par, slightly below or a lot below ...

Was a nice last start win by Enjoy Me.

  • 2 weeks later...

What has happened, the 2 hot favs got rolled last nite?
I know, people will say they had hard runs, a gap to third with amazing dream, but hang on,

For the past few years, the All Stars have raced wide, pulled away for easy wins, but not now. The slide has began, has the spinning stopped?

Rubbish,!!! Self Assured ran 2nd for Allstars twice as well in Oct/Nov leading up to the fab NZ CUP win.

now he has twice run second for Hayden Cullen (going an EXCELLENT race both times)

AMAZING DREAM has had neck and head margins for past 5 starts now . won a GROUP 2 for Hayden last time.

was also slandered for gettin beaten by 'Beyond Words' at Auckland in Dec.

She was 9 lengths clear of 3rd last night ????? pretty solid effort !!   well done team Cullen (and Mark)

So is rubbish saying a 'slide' is in place. They both went exceptionally well (as per usual ).last night.

To be fair newmarket has a point this was a premier night which Mark  & Natalie dominate.

Usually they would win  between 4 & 6 races any less and it would be classed a poor night.

For whatever reason Cullen didn,t have the numbers and wins

Is this going to be the new normal premier night?

1. By this i mean Cullen having about 10 runners and 1-3 wins

2. instead of Mark & Nat having about 20 runners and 4-6 winners.

3. And lots of other stables sharing in the spoils.

4. And also really exciting racing with everybody feeling they have got a great chance of picking up some good stakes and driving there horses accordingly.

PS Come in Brodie am i on the money

Well the answer is their horses have been dispersed to a degree.

Princess Tiffany and Turn It Up and One Change now all winning with authority in Australia every week. some are in Akld , etc. Sometimes the horses should be given credit you know. not just the trainers.

Why PICK on your New Trainer there ? he's just starting off for goodness sake.

And if you criticise SELF ASSURED and AMAZING DREAM for those brilliant seconds , that is tough marking.

WE should be congratulating their race  Victor's Nathan Willamson and Kristin Barclay !!!!!! Exceptional and Classy and brilliant display and effort guys !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cullen won one race last night (same as DUNN"S) have they stopped spinning too? you should ask Newmarket???

It's ALL ABOUT FAITH for Hayden Cullen won in race 2 beat the very Promising horse REGAZZO MACH (who beat last nights G1 winner recently down south as well) must make them both worth SIX figures ? great racing .. well done to all.

your right winning every week . and beating piss pour horse in low stake racers . would the two above horse be capable of winning group 1 racers now

Great question Hunter !! I really really hope so. (just love the kiwis winning here )

The group 1 we had in Brisbane they were 3rd and 5th behind current Miracle Mile Champ KING OF SWING.

tonight ONE CHANGE takes on a Group 2 at Menangle . he is still young but go close . yeah Shane is Fab driver.

TURN IT UP absolutely destroyed our best horse (multiple G1 winner Colt31 who was $1.60 fav)  last week with a demolition job !!!! yes the rest of field was piss pour as you said ..hahahaha I like to say 'progressive' myself lol.

I'm gunna back TURN IT UP  to WIN next week (BIG races on soon at Menangle) against the big guns King of Swing and Lochinar Art .????   Goooooo kiwis ..

1 thing that I observed was no stable-driving from any stable that raced at Addington last nite.

In-fact, was brilliant, in a race the Dunn leader, the parked horse another Dunn horse, did not have a crack for lead. And the parked horse still went on to win 👍😄

Great fair play example the Dunn stable is setting.

The reason nobody used to think they had any chance of beating the all stars in previous seasons was because they used to watch them attack on track record speeds, then just when you think they would get tired they gained their second wind and would pull away by 5 lengths.

Having said that, last night they still ran like they are our leading stable, and a few of those racing last night didn't have much luck. I think tim williams drove 3 in a row that had no luck.

Self assured and amazing dream have had some hard races earlier in the season, and when they have to draw on their reserves in those previous races like everyone else has had to,then that becomes a factor on  future form.

Going on how they went last night, they may well still come out and win 4 or 5 on the next premier night.

Also. Gamms you have referred to  the purdon drive on amazing dream when it got beaten by beyond words. You must be thinking Purdon  got it wrong last night. Remember he used the excuse that night that it was better driven with a sit.

Absolutely !! I think Mark looked devastated himself at the end of that Group 1 didn't appear to congratulate the young lass that won it very much.  Had a perfect sit in behind her after the start and threw it all away with Amazing Dream. tough titties for Mark hahahah   the young lass got great trail instead with WATCH ME NOW.

He was also haunted by PEMBROOK PLAYBOY trailing the leader as well,  giving it a chance for a divebomb head win over Self Assured as well. Not Mark's lucky night?? lol !!  but he's had plenty of them, so....

great driving by his 'Conqueror's'  ... congrat's to Kirstin if first Group 1. win .

Trotsfan, I wasnt going to start the debate, as some would think it was just AllStars bashing again!

While Purdon is still around the stable I wouldnt be guaranteeing anything!

Personally think it is a load of BS that was announced in regards to taking a break from the horses!

There is more to it than just needing a break or he and training partner would not be around and Purdon wouldnt be needing to drive the horses!

There is no doubt whatsoever that the early stages is clearly showing that the stable horses are no where near as dominating as they were, which is great news for harness racing going forward.

What I would put my last million on would be that if Purdon/Rasmussen were not involved with the AllStars stable, the stable would not be dominating anywhere near where it was.

If the same results were not happening the existing owners would vote with their feet!

It was just great to see the money spread around on Premier night, even though the fields were awful for punting on!

Why no good /awful for punting On ?

If Allstars are not Dominating now , then surely the races are good for a bet ??

You had OFF and GONE $9,  Watch ME NOW $12, and Pembrook Playboy $5.50 2nd fav and they all had good form too , so someone could/ would win on those.?

unfortunately Gammalite backed REGAZZO MACH and got beaten by an Allstars oldie. hahahaha irony hurts lol..
